Alarm not working

I'm trying to get my colour ipod to play some music to wake me up, i set everything, pick a playlist which i can play otherwise, it turns on at the right time and just sits there. doesn't play the selected playlist. it's as if i had pressed a button to turn it on and it's waiting for me to play music. i don't even know where to start to fix this. anyone have any tips?

Restore the ipod. Download the latest update, run it until it gives you the option of updating or restoring and restore it. REMEMBER, YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOU SONGS SO MAKE SURE TO BACK THEM UP! Just follow the rest of the steps in the restore process. That would be the best place to start/

  • Why does the alarm not work when the iphone 4 is turned off

why does the alarm not work when the iphone 4 for is  turned  off works fine when on most other phones work when off

The only phone I've ever had that would turn on and sound the alarm is a Blackberry. So, I'd hardly say "most phones" have this function.

  • IPhone 4 alarm not working since 01.01.2011

iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.1 alarm not working since 01.01.2011. Tried different settings such as turning off automatic update and changing location. Nothing seem to be working. Any solution?

Same for both mine and my wife's iPhone 4 4.2.1. Her work woke us up. I found a short fix while testing it out. If you setup a repeat alarm for the day you want it to go off it works. I don't know why but it works, if I don't set the repeat the alarm does not sound. Hope it helps some people but Apple... Fix it please!

  • Alarm not working again??

Hmpf! Hoping someone can help me please!
As per details in previous threads, not long after I got my phone, the alarm started being temperamental - not going off all the time, going off at wrong times, then not working at all. After checking & rechecking everything, installing an alternative alarm to try to resolve it, updating software, etc, I was told to wipe my phone.
Well I think it's been maybe a couple of weeks since I 'wiped' my phone & the alarm was working again, but as of yesterday, it's quit on me again!! Actually the alarm that was already installed when the phone was new is currently still working, but the 'My Alarm' app that I installed has stopped.
Haven't changed anything in the phone in the last week, except that I changed carriers & had to get my phone reactivated to go online, message bank, etc. When I wiped the phone, it wiped the service books & my original carrier couldn't help me(not BB specific plan).
And also, since wiping, the sms icon that comes up on my homescreen with a number to let me know when there are new sms's was visible with '1', regardless of whether there were new sms's or how many. Now, since activating the phone with the carrier, it shows '4' or '5' all the time!(??)
If you're wondering, I have asked my carrier, but their Indian call centre is shocking - I've spent around 4 hrs on hold in the last week & a lot of time repeating myself & having them repeat themselves because we can't understand eachother! When I finally got thru to them yesterday about this, they said general tech support couldn't help & they'd put me thru to the BB specific team, which would be another 25 mins wait on hold.... I went mad & they promised to have them call me back instead, within 2 hrs, which they failed to deliver on.

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Alarms not working in iOS8

My weekday morning Wake-Up Alarms are not working.  I have 2 alarms set for 5:00AM and 5:20AM, both set to only go off on Weekdays.
I am wondering if it is because of the Do Not Disturb from 11PM - 6 AM feature, that is on, but it worked fine on iOS 7 and below.
This has started since the upgrade to iOS8 on my old iPhone5 32GB, and now has continued on my iPhone6Plus 64GB phone.
This morning I set an everyday alarm for 5:58AM and it worked,  I am gonna try a few more permutations to see if I can narrow it down.

SOLVED for me by restarting my iPhone 5. Power off completely and powering back on.
I had the same issue after updating to iOS8 on my iPhone 5.
No Airplay and Remote Control doesn't work anymore. It worked for a day and then ,,, stopped working.
The Airplay button didn't show up, Remote control couldn't find my iTunes (the screen told me to turn on my Home Sharing, which is, and has been, on)

  • ICal alarms not working for delegates

I have a Mac OS X Server 10.5.4 running iCal server. I have successfully setup a couple of users and a delegate for one of the users that has write permissions. The alarms are working for the user but not for the delegate.
I have searched the Mac OS X Server/iCal list and the iCal list with no answer to the issue.
Thank you in advance for your help.

This issue has been solved with the following from Cyrus Daboo. Thank you Cyrus.
I believe that by default iCal ignores alarms on delegate calendars. I think you can change that by selecting the calendar in the list and selecting Get Info from the menu and then toggling an option in the resulting dialog box.

  • ICal Alarms not working in iPod

Around six months ago iCal alarms stopped working on my iPod.
They do not even show up when I view a To Do or Event on my iPod. This happened all of a sudden and I have never changed any settings other than installing standard updates. I cannot recall if it was around the same time as an update. I use iCal 2.0.5 (1069). I was using a 60G iPod when this occurred. My new 80G has the same problem.
Any ideas? I have searched everywhere(!) to no avail.
I am very keen to get this feature back. Any suggestions most welcome. Thanks in advance!
(This is my first post/question on here. I apologise if I have posted in the wrong place or asked a stupid question.)

Believe me when I saw I have tried everything! I am not technically minded though I have covered all bases. I am just anxious to get this great feature back. It just seems strange that I am the only one with issues. This happened with my 60G then right through to now. I am actually on my second 80G as the first's battery failed after a month.
Is it an issue with my Power Book? I seriously have not change any settings - EVER. Except for the standard updates.
Thanks again for your quick reply Anyone got any ideas?!

  • Alarm not working correctly

I am having the same problem. I set my alarm for 6:30pm on 12-31-2010 and it failed to ring. I did not think much about this and I set another alarm for 1:15am on 01-01-2011 and it sounded. I set another alarm for 01-02-2011 at 5:15am and one for 5:25am and neither one of the alarms sounded and I was late for work. I also tried setting the recurring days and it worked but I never had to do this before this. I have relied on my phones alarms for almost 12 years and I hope that I do not have to revert back to an alarm clock. Help

Apple has told Engadget that it is aware of the iPhone alarm glitch. "We're aware of an issue related to non repeating alarms set for January 1 or 2. Customers can set recurring alarms for those dates and all alarms will work properly beginning January 3," the Apple spokesperson said.

  • Alarms not working going crazy

    Hi All,
The alarms in iCal are not working AT ALL for me, no matter if iCal is open or not. I practically tried everything that was suggested in these forums. I usually setup alarms to pop-up a message and play a sound before an event. However, everything is silent for some reason. No pop-ups and no sounds even when iCal is open. Here is what I tried so far:
    1) I deleted all iCal preferences from library/Preferences/ and restarted iCal.
    2) I made sure that iCalAlarmScheduler is in the login items and that is is loaded.
    3) Tried again with open iCal, but no luck again.
Just FYI, I am on a MacPro, with Mac OS X 10.4.9 and ALL the updates installed, running iCal 2.0.5 (1069).
I am SO frustrated!!! This seems to be a VERY common problem since iCal 1.5 and Apple obviously can't find a solution for it. Is it THAT hard Apple engineers?
Please help! I REALLY need these reminders. Without them I am lost. Thanks!

    alexbet,
I am glad to hear that you resolved the problem.
You said: I really don't understand why it didn't work before and it did this time, but thank you for "making me" do it again.
Did you have iCal running when you previously tried the plist removal?
I suggested a specific order to ensure that you did not have iCal running when you removed the appropriate plist files. Plist removal is more often than not, unsuccessful if the application concerned is running or the application is restarted before a log out/in or system restart is accomplished.
    ;~)

  • Siri, sounds, video, alarm not working. Need help with backing up my iPad so I can do a factory reset....need help doing that also.

Siri, sounds, alarm, videos not working. How do I back up my iPad and how do I do a factory reset?

    Try this:
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
(How to update your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623)
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings  (or for network connection issues 'reset network settings').
(no media or data will be deleted from the device, this will only take a minute).
If that doesn't work then backup and then restore the device as new first (to isolate cause of the issue). Then from backup if necessary.

  • ICal alarms not working after upgrade to Tiger

After upgrading to Tiger my iCal (v 2.0.2) alarms were not working. The solution that worked for me was to go to the preferences file in my home folder and remove "com.apple.iCal.alarmsCache.plist" and "com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist". I removed both at the same time but you may want to try one at a time. Quit mail and then reopen it. After of couple of tests with a message alarm and an email alarm it seems to have solved the problem.

    Vicki,
Force Quit iCal, from the  menu by choosing >Force Quit...>iCal.
Paste this text ~/Library into the Finder Menu>Go>Go to Folder...window and select "Go." This will open the Users Library Folder.
Then open the Calendars Folder which is in that Library Folder, and move any any files with "Cache" listed in the name field to your Desktop.
Next open the Preferences Folder in that same Library Folder and move the com.apple.iCal.plist file to the Desktop.
Log out/in or restart and open iCal.

  • Time change for daylight savings and Alarms not working correctly

we have 3 iPhones in our house. 2 were set to auto time change for daylight saving and one wasn't. 1 did the auto time change with out an issue and all alarms worked ok. The other 2 have had issues with not been able to set the alarms ie set alarm for 0630 and it goes off at 0530 even though the time is set correctly. The 1 that was set to autotime worked fine until I switch auto time off, now the alarms on this one wont work either. well they work but just at the wrong time. The 3rd phone will allow alarms to be set, but the alarm will go off an hour earlier and this phone will not allow the alarm to be set for 0630 at all.
Has anyone had this issue and resolved it. It makes getting up for shift work a right pain..

  • Alarm not working (5.0.1)

On my 4S, since the 5.0.1 update, if I am listening to sounds in Ambience (3.3.3) when a scheduled alarm occurs then no sound is played. Not only does the alarm sound not play but the audio from Ambience also stops. This occurs 100% of the time that Ambience is in use when an alarm attempts to go off. Anyone else able to reproduce this?

I had something similar. I was installing an App directly to my Touch via wireless and I think the touch shut dow before it finished instaling. When I powered it up, it was still trying to install and finally finished. Then when I tried to run it, it died immediately. Then I tried the other apps and they didn't run either. I shut down and re-started but it was the same, so I had to restore and currently I'm trying to get my stuff back on the touch, but what I have put back (including the app I think was the one that didn't download completely and caused the problem) are working now.

  • Alarms not working

I have several alarms configured on my iPhone which are set to go off every weekday morning at 15 min intervals to ensure I get up on time. This morning none of them went off, and when I looked at the phone and touched the screen, all of a sudden they all went off one after the other. The phone was charging, plugged into a Universal Dock Adapter, but this was not the issue as I had had the iPhone plugged into it every night for the past 5 weeks and the alarms all went off fine.
Anyhow, thanks for making me late for work Apple!

Bought my 3G iPhone last week. My 2G iPhone never had this problem, but my 1 wk old 3G already had this happen twice. On Monday, I woke up to the iPhone vibrating, not ringing at all. I had two alarms set on that day, 6AM & 7AM. I checked the hold switch and it is off so it should have been ringing. Then I deliberately set the hold switch to on and waited for the 7AM alarm. When 7AM arrived, the alarm actually rang. So I don't think the hold switch has any effect on the audible alarm.
I even did a complete restore on the day I got the 3G because the restore from backup was already taking 3 hours and counting. So I canceled the restore from backup then did a full restore of the v2.1 OS. Activated it as a new iPhone profile.
I've just came back from the Apple store and the tech couldn't reproduce it and told me to restore the iPhone again. And to think I was cussing at Microsoft for my failed XBox 360 this week.
I'm going to delete all alarms and create new ones, then try to reboot my iPhone before going to bed this week and see if it makes a difference

  • IPhone alarm not working when phone is switched off

Is this right? My Nokia alarm always used to go off at the desired time even if the handset was completely switched off, but my iPhone doesn't appear to be able to do this?

    Malcolm Rayfield wrote:
the iPhone won't be completely off then since it keeps the time adjusted and working, so it is running in the background!!!
it is a matter of a software update!!
if the iPhone as u guys claim is OFF OFF then u need to set up the time each time u turn it on!!
    that's what I know
The iPhone is also not completely off, but it doesn't do anything noticeable when off (such as disturb others in a movie theater by sounding its alarm).
But then of course nobody would surely be so stupid as to set an alarm to go off when they're going to be in such a place.
