Album art and iTunes Store Sign in other countries
I live in a small country, I don't know if we will get able to access the store some day but something like the album art could be available to everyone, I don't get why the restriction to only store accounts.
1. Make it available without the sign-in
or,
2. Create a sign-in without the option to purchase in order to use this new feature in iTunes in all the other countries that have no store available.
Mac OS X (10.4.7)
If you can find the cover art you want online, you can just tell iTunes to forget the artwork for those songs and add the art you want manually.

Getting album art from iTunes Store...
I have an extensive music library on an external HD, but most songs are/were in 'wma' format. On loading iTunes, it spent 36 hours converting these to AAC (m4a) format, but it didn't bring the album art over. Now I have a perfect music collection, doubled in size, which I can view in Windows Media Player (with all the album art) or in iTunes (without any album art).
Unfortunately, we who live in South Africa are not allowed to download album art from the iTunes Store, so I cannot restore the artwork...and every time I try to access the Store from inside iTunes, it bombs out - but I can access the iTunes site on any normal web browser (usually Mozilla).
So what now???Sorry, but as you've discovered, you cannot get album art from the iTunes Store without an account, and being a South African resident, there's no way for you to open an account. There are, however, many other ways of getting album art. Just search the web for something like "iTunes album art" and you should find a number of utilities, suggestions for sources and instructions on how to proceed.

Update embedded Album Art from iTunes Store?
Missing Album Art is automatically added to my iTunes library. Excellent!
But I have a large number of albums/songs with embedded album art of low quality (200x200). Is there a way to update these without having to manually delete the old Album Art for each song individually?

Well, you don't have to do it individually -- you can select all the songs for which you want to delete, right-click and select "Get Info", then check the Artwork box, then click OK. This will delete all the artwork for those songs (permanently!)

I have a script to do just that. You have to download it first (say, to your Desktop)

Then you have to run it using the Command Prompt:
1) Bring up a command prompt (Start..All Programs..Accessories..Command Prompt)
2) Enter these commands:<pre>cd Desktop
cscript itunesinsertartwork.vbs</pre>
3) Select the playlist (or select the whole Library with "1") which contains the songs for which you want to embed the artwork.
NOTE:Embedding artwork will cause your files to take up more hard drive space because for downloaded artwork iTunes only needs one copy. Embedding the artwork makes a copy of the artwork for every song with that artwork. Artwork files from the iTMS are typically 400-500 KB each. -
Determining what metadata will get specific album art from iTunes Store
How can I determine what metadata will get specific album art from the iTunes Store?
e.g., I have some tracks with correct metadata for the album "International Herb" by the band "Culture". This album is listed under the same artist & title in the iTunes Store, but getting the album art for these tracks results in an Artwork for "Culture - International Herb" could not be found warning message.
Alternatively, is there some function where I can apply the album art for the album that I am currently viewing in the iTunes Store to tracks selected in iTunes? (if this feature doesn't exist, it would be great if Apple added it)
Thanks.I always thought it was just Artist + Album, but if the tracks are out of order or the durations are too different, it is possible that it is seeing it as a different version = no match.
It will be faster to find the image from another source (thanks web search) and just drag or paste it into the Album Info panel. -
Compatability Problem with Album Art and iTunes in Vista?

I have album art for all of my music which I have added myself. (I prefer to do so instead of iTunes doing it for me.) However, after purchasing a new computer using Vista, I've encountered a problem.
When I drag and drop my music into iTunes, only about half of the album art shows up. The rest either isn't loaded or isn't identified by iTunes, even though I know it's there.
In fact, you can see the album art icon associated with each file when it's organized in its folder on my C: drive. But again, for some reason, much of it isn't loading when I open the files into iTunes.
I never had this problem using XP. Is it a compatability issue or is there a simple fix I'm unaware of? I'd really appreciate any help!!

HP Pavillion dv6000 Windows VistaAlright, my apologies, Chris. I don't think I explained myself clearly enough. The files are embedded with the music (these are the same music files that worked just fine in XP.)
The artwork isn't separate from the actual music file. When you click on the actual music file, you see the ICON associated with the file, and it's the artwork. I suppose that's just a new Vista feature.
However, I embedded all of the album covers myself, and again, they worked just fine in iTunes with XP. But for some reason, only about half of the album art is being recognized by iTunes even though it's embedded into the actual tag.

I'm a bit fussing about my album art, like to have all my tunes with their respective covers on my nano!
Anyway, I use a program called iTunes Art Importer, which runs alongside iTunes (although 3rd party, not Apple).
Its dead simple to use, it pulls the art from Amazon. Just highlight your track (or tracks)and click search. I find using the "overide search text" works really well for not so well known music, just keep the search simple.

I'm inside the States and using US iTunes store on my iphone 4s (contract free). However I have an account without credit card number. I wonder if I am able to use US iTunes store connected with this account outside the States (say in Russia or Armenia).

My problem mainly concerns cover art.
There have been times when I downloaded albums from the iTunes store to find its cover art it is absolutely beautiful, and is absolutely 100% un stretched. Whereas when I have gotten images for a specific album from Google Images it's terribly pixelated and totally disgusting.
Is there a way for me to obtain cover art for my albums that is has clarity equal to the cover art on the iTunes store albums.
Or will it basically boil down to I can only get that cover art by downloading my albums off the store?robcharlus wrote:

They should you if you do the roll back properly... Opening files from the Previous iTunes Libraries folder in Windows Explorer simply opens the current library. If you don't see the .itl file extension then don't give your copied and renamed file the extention or iTunes will create an empty library rather than using the renamed file.
If you had a complete pre-problem backup of your library you could restore that. On the assumption that isn't possible I have a script called ExportImport that could in principle be adjusted to save the relevant data from a backup of the library database and then reimport that data into the current library. See this thread for details.

Basically I brought a album of the iTunes Store, Depzman - 2 Real, specifically, edited the album features, such as, artists and put the featuring artists, which before I edited it was placed in brackets at the end of the song title like most iTunes songs, but when i put it on my iPhone which is on manually handle music and videos, the artist which i removed from the song title do not appear, only the album artists, I have reset my iPhone completely using the delete all settings and content in the hope of it being the iPhones fault and it has not changed, urgh, what a waste of time / effort, now I have now gotten to the point of fed up cos I feel like I've tried everything, ive re-downloded them and done it all again, still nothing, so now I'm puzzled and don't understand why it wont appear the same on my iPhone as it does in my iTunes library, please can someone help me solve this pain in the ***, I'm OCD when it comes to music and if it doesn't appear the way it should i get annoyed / frustrated -.-

I purchased an album from the itunes store on my Ipad2 thinking i could access it from my windows laptop where I sync my ipod. I turned on Home Sharing and can see my laptop libraries from my ipad but not vice versa. Is there any way to fix this so I can transfer the album to the itunes on my laptop?
Yes I tried that. I finally turned off all home sharing settings, shut down my desktop and found them in my account settings in the store on the cloud. So at that point I just had it download everything. But I suspect that with the ipad somehow being on, the store was saying I had already received them? Regardless, my trip today whilst running errands, I was rocking out to vintage Police music! Thank you so much for responding.

I've purchased an album through the itunes store and every track plays except one which continually asks me to authorise my computer. I've tried all the steps suggested above but still no joy. Anyone have any ideas what i can do next? Thanks Paul
Sounds like you have a "damaged track" or "damaged file".
This worked for me today downloading Kendrick Lamar's new Album "good kid, m.A.A.d city".
My situation: I bought the album today for my Mac, MacBook Pro, iPad 2, and iPhone 4S devices.
Issue: One song (only on my MacBook Pro) would not play, instead display "
EX: left"
Solution: 1. Manually delete the song (giving you the error) permantly from the authorized computer.
2. Open iTunes, Click iTunes Store (left sidebar), and locate Quick Links and then click Purchased to proceed.
3. Click "Not On This Computer", find the song that wouldn't play, and re-download it again.
4. Check your Music Library for your song (Should download inside the associated album) and hit play.
EX: (Song I purchased that wouldn't play because of authorization, playing)

Cover flow into album art and how to control iTunes from another app.
Hi all 2 areas of concen, one is coverflow/ album art and the other is itunes controller:
I have searched but cannot find the answer to this:
1) I have some songs with album info already, and I used iTunes to get the album art for coverflow etc. ... some songs from the same album did not have the album category filled in, I go back and fill it in: now how do I get iTunes to recognize the album art so it shows up for the newly corrected songs?
2) In coverflow, iTunes picked the wrong album cover, can I manually fix it/pick the right one?
3) will coverflow only show album art for those albums recognized by iTunes, or will it use album art that I get from other sources and add manually? And what will show up in my ipod?
and lastly
4), is there anyway to control iTunes without switching apps (if I am working in Word or safari and want to skip a song, etc)...is there an overlay controller?

I am unable to sign into the App and iTunes Store.

I recently bought an ipad mini , a few months old . Since yesterday I am unable to sign in to the app and iTunes Store. When I clink on a game link I want to install I am asked for my password and then a pop up appears saying I cannot connect to the App Store .
I have changed my password , checked my settings and also checked my wifi connection .
I hope someone can help .

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

The control click and external mouse right click no longer works when copying and pasting album art within itunes. Ex. Hit get info for one song to paste to the rest, copying the artwork wont work when it used to.
