Album info in 7.1.1

The new iTunes will not recognize album info when I am trying to rip CD's. Is it something I did or is anyone else finding the same problem?

Try this and see if it causes iTunes do get the album/track info when you import a CD:
In iTunes, go to: "Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing".
Make sure that the "automatically retrieve CD track names from the internet" option is selected.
Click "OK" to close the window and save your changes.

Try posting in a more appropriate forum, as this has noting to do with itunes U - the place where University/college/museums post education material.

  • Difficult to edit album info in new iTunes.

Every since the new iTunes 11 I get frustrated every day.
I can't seem to organize my files like I used to. I used to be able to click control i = edit album info..I'd be able to hit "next" and organize info for every track in the album. I can no longer do that. I have to click on every single song seperately and edit it..no more next next next. Anyways..this is just one way the new iTunes is driving me nuts.
    Why did they change it???
It was fine the way it has been for years.
If anyone knows how to easily edit album info, please let me know.
I mostly have problems when importing new music from downloaded mp3 files..unheard of things, like homeschooling history lessons audiobooks. Then I import it and sometimes it shuffles it up into 2 albums instead of one and I have to go back and highlight things, erase things, rename things, to get it to realize that this is one album, with many tracks.
    Sigh.
    Any help appreciated.
Also, if iTunes people read this: If it's not broken, don't fix it. No idea why they changed the way iTunes looks. It's so much more difficult to use now.

I have always managed my music manually, just tried the way you do it, cleaned up my libary synced with my phone and all is OK. Made edits and resynced all OK.
Will manage all my music via the libary which I suppose is the best way to do it anyway.
    Thanks alot for your help.

  • Unknown Artists Don't Display without Album Info.....THIS IS RIDICULOUS!

    I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!
If a song does not have an album title, under the artist menu, you don't see these songs!!!
With my 4th gen iPod I got a submenu under artists that said "All" along with any albums associated with that artist....with my new 5th gen iPod Video I can only see Albums under the artists menu....if all the album info is removed then I can see all songs....this is SO stupid!
I know others have said that this is the way it is...
but do the developers have any idea about this? This is simply put a STUPID BUG!
Is there a forum or mailing list to send bug reports????

What I did was to give all songs an album name:
Sort the library by album in itunes by clicking on the column header.
Select all the songs with no album name - select the first song, hold down shift, select the last song.
Hit ctrl-i to get the info box.
Enter album name of "None" and click ok.
    Now everyone shows up.

  • IPod doesn't display album info

    Hi everyone.
I'm desperately writing this topic due to a strange problem I began to face with my iPod Nano after installing Windows 7 Ultimate. After setting the PC up, I re-installed iTunes - as well as other programmes - and opened my old library - I had made a backup of it with a DVD. iTunes seemed to work properly while I synced it with the iPod. When I first used my nano, though, I noticed that some album info were missing. Covers, track's duration - even some tracks themselves - etc., despite of appearing normally in iTunes, wouldn`t be displayed in the iPod. At first, I reckoned it to be a small issue and followed the "Troubleshot assistance five steps". Nothing worked up to now, and it's starting to get to me. Does someone have a clue of how to solve this problem?
    I'm really grateful.

You posted to the wrong area of discussions. This is the 5th Generation iPod group (the video full sized iPods that were released previous to the "Classic" models). If you are asking a Nano question, you want to post to this area...

  • Edit album info problem

I am transferring my library (about 800 albums) to my laptop from my server.  A fair number of the albums are not recognized by iTunes so I am adding them manually.  In order to do so I have to edit the album info for each one.  So far no problem.
    Except,
when I go to type in an artist or album name it gives me a list of options and if there is a space in that name, it assumes I want the first one on the list.
    Example:
I type in George for George Jones.
After I get to George there is a list of Georges.  The first George is George Clinton. I can scroll down to George Jones in the list, but if I press the space bar to insert a space before typing Jones it auto-selects Clinton for me.  I have to backspace out the Clinton in order to type in Jones.
Worse, the same thing happens for the album name but the name I need is not in the list so I have no option to scroll down.  Example:  Album title "I Am What I Am".  I type "I space" and it autofills from a previous album that started with the word "I" followed by a space.  Each and every time I then have to backspace out the whole album title in order to type the new one.
I don't understand why anyone would program an autofill to assume that a space meant "Choose this one" so I wonder if I am missing something here or is it a bug.
    I am using 12.01.26 on a PC.
Thanks for any thoughts on this issue.

    You're welcome.

  • I recently moved my itunes library. Itunes deleted a lot of artist and album info and album art. Now it won't let me edit the info to correct it. Any advice on to correct this?

I recently bought a new Asus laptop and moved my itunes to it. All of my files are stored on an external hard drive. In the process of importing my files into itunes on the new laptop, some artist and album info has been deleted. A lot of album art is missing as well. I attempted to correct the missing info, but now itunes won't let me edit any track, artist or album info. Any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it? Thanks.

You can't use your account's balance for gifting, you can only use a credit card - your balance can only be used to buy content for yourself. Until you pay what you owe iTunes then you won't be able to download any items from the store on that account.
If you haven't got a valid credit card then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they can cancel the gift or take what you owe them from your balance: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Lost all album info and cannot retrieve it!!!

I purchased my first ipod nano (4gb) and have spent absolutely ages transferring music and saving from cds onto my laptop (wimdows vista) and purchasing from itunes store. Then, all the album info has been lost! I've tried to 'Get album info' and had friends who use itunes with their ipods but no one knows what to do. Can anybody help me please?

Thanks for the clarification, Shaney boy.
Although it still strikes me as a very unusual situation. Because in addition to the Song Names themselves, the Artist and Album names (along with a variety of other information) are all stored in the actual music files.
And offhand I can't imagine why that information would either disappear from the files or become non-existant as far as iTunes is concerned.
    Just a few questions:
I'm assuming the CD's were imported with iTunes, can you confirm whether or not that is the case?
Is it just the information that is disappearing, i.e., are the Artist and Album columns still there and all blank or have the columns themselves disappeared?
Do you - at least temporarily - get the lost information back when you highlight the tracks and go to the iTunes Advanced menu > Get CD Track Names?
Whatever the case, perhaps if you post a screenshot of your iTunes Library display, as per Hudgie's User Tip , it will provide us with some clue as to what might be going on.

  • How do I delete / remove Album info & artwork?

    Hello, Good people of Appleville!
I have an issue.  I'm very picky about my music.  Always have been.  I've been very careful to limit the information and data on each song to Title, Artist, & Genre.  However, having recently bought a Iphone 5s, it automatically updated via the cloud, so when my music is playing, it shows me those album pictures.  I don't want them there.  They aren't objectionable, it's just not orderly, and it bothers me.  I've managed to remove them from everything on the Itunes library, but the Iphone library still has a few holdouts.  Anyone have any idea how to edit the files as they are on the Phone to get rid of the Album info and artwork?
    Clint

Right click (control+click if using a one button mouse) on the file you want to remove the artwork from, choose Get Info then the Artwork tab, click on the image and press the delete button then OK. To remove from multiple items, highlight the adjacent tracks in your selection (click on the first in the list, hold down the shift key and click on the last), right click and choose Get Info, choose yes when you are asked if you want to edit multiple items, tick the box beside the small empty artwork window about halfway down on the right. If you are updating your iPod automatically the artwork will be removed the next time you connect, If you are updating manually, carry out the procedure above with the iPod connected and choose the song from the iPod list rather than the iTunes library.

  • Artist Album info not showing some songs

I have a 30g fifth gen iPod, with about 4800 songs on it, running iTunes 6.0.5.20 on Windows XP SP2.
When I first got it, a lot of my files had bad data, so I cleared out all the info except for the Artist and Track, and then manually corrected all the data to make it work. What this means, is all of my songs previously didn't have any album info, and when I'd go to the Artists menu and select one, it would go to a list of albums where "All >" was the only option, and then that would display all of the songs for that artist.
Recently, I bought a few new CDs and I was ripping them to put them on my iPod, and now all the other songs that I had from those artists before won't show up under the Artist section, because it skips straight to the CD I put on rather than giving me a list of albums to choose from.
I know it's not a problem with my tags, because they all worked fine before I put these new albums on there.
Am I gonna be forced to include "dummy" album info in some songs?

Right after I posted, I found another topic that basically answered my question.

  • Script Error report when trying to "Find Album Info" for music in Windows Media Player

When I click on "Find Album Info" in Windows Media Player, it finds the correct media info. But when I click "Finish" after verifying everything is correct, it says "An error has occurred on this script page" and asks if I want to continue. I click
yes, it goes back to the last page of finding album info, I again click "Finish" to find the same "Script error" page?

Sir, that means the Windows Firewall Blocked the Script So try these steps hope it works for you :
1.) - Open the "Start Menu".
2.) - Go to the "Control Panel".
3.) - Double click "Security Center".
4.) - Click "Windows Firewall" in the top left.
    5.) - Click "Change settings".
    6.) - Click "Continue".
7.) - Click the "Exceptions" tab.
8.) - Scroll down and check all of the "Windows Media Player" options.

  • Album Info - Sync Issues

An album I had in my iTunes library had the wrong year in it so it was not in the correct order chronologically so I changed the album release year in this case from 2008 to 1994. However despite it changing in iTunes OK when it syncs over to my phone it reverts to 2008 on my phone but stays as 1994 on my iTunes library.
Any ideas? it is driving me mad!
    iPhone 5s, iOS 8

I'm doing auto. It's kind of sporatic too. Sometimes it works when I change the album info but on others it makes it so the artist won't appear at all on my iPod. I have to do a search on the song to find it. Which is a complete pain when I want to find a specific song.

  • Album info doesn't save.

Changing info on any album won't save. I right click album, get info, I change the info and click "ok" and then nothing is changed.

So.........bottom line is that if you are interested in the best fidelity then itunes is not the way to go. If you are using WAV files you can only get artist/album info into itunes by importing the CD directly; not from an album folder that is already on your computer. Is this correct?

  • Not finding album info

hi guys um my itunes will not automatically find album info for me i have the correct boxes checked and a internet connection but it wont do it please help me
