Album Not Grouped Together

I imported a new CD into itunes - and it seems that it is treating each song as its own album (this is apparent because when I view by album, each song is it's own album).
How do I tell itunes that it's all one album? I've never had this problem before.
Thanks in advance!

Check out the get info and make sure the album name is all the same. If the ID tags came from Gracenote CDDB, there's a good chance it was wrong.

    Hello,
I just received a new ipod nano (the new ones) as a gift and all though i love it i am having some troubles with Itunes 7,
the first problem is that iTunes does not group some songs from the same album together, I made sure that all the album details are the same but still I tunes separates certain songs from the album, In case I am not clear here is a link to a screen shoot:
    http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/188/ssngtud2.jpg
As you can see some songs from System of a downs album "Steal this album" are arranged as separate songs, how can I change this?
    A second problem I have encountered is with compilation specifically with classical music, ITunes slashes the 10 track album into 10 separate songs, although I marked them all as a part of a compilation and set the preferences to display compilations, screen shots;
    http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/2387/ndctt6.jpg
    1. Is there any way ITunes can display these tracks together?
    2. If I move this album to my IPod (after setting it to display compilations) will it show them together as one album?
Thanks for your help in advance

For your first problem, make absolutely certain that there are no hidden spaces at the end of the Artist or Album fields. Also check track number of and disk number of fields. Finally, and this may be most likely, make sure that you use the same Album Artist for each song (blank, or System of a Down).
For the second issue, make sure all songs on the album are marked as "Part of a Compilation", then sort your library as "Album by Artist" (you may need to click the Album header a few times to see that). The Compilations will then be bumped to the bottom of your library. On your iPod, turn Compilations ON to see similar grouping of compilations.

  • Songs from the same album not grouped together

Sometimes when I import songs from the same album, they do not show up grouped together. I will end up with several entries, with one or two songs each. Sometimes the correct album art is on each one, and sometimes not. How can I stop this from happening, and how can I correct it if it does?

  • I have two albums (RCA Sweeny Todd 2 discs set and RCA Into the Woods 1 disc) where the songs are listed as being on the same album on the list view, but do not group together on the iPod, so the songs can't play consecutively, or in the proper order.

I have two albums (RCA Sweeny Todd 2 discs set and RCA Into the Woods 1 disc) where the songs are listed as being on the same album on the list view, but do not group together on the iPod, so the songs can't play consecutively, or in the proper order. The "Apply Sort Field" and "Same album does not work, but ti is only these two RCA albums that do this. All other albums remain intact. Need help with this minor problem. Thanks.

UPDATE: This behavior (to an extent) still happens when "Repeat Album" is off. Instead of an infinite loop, it goes through all the tracks on the album (unsuccessfully) and kicks me out to the Album overview screen. Going back to list of Albums and tapping the Album again brings up "No Content: You can download music from the iTunes Store" but that screen immediately kicks me back to list of Albums.
So I am just even more confused now.

  • Episodes from the same TV show are not grouped together

    Hello,
I've a cousin from the states staying with me who has no forum membership so this question is from her.
When viewing the iTunes TV Library on her MacBook, episodes from the same TV show [Journeyman] are not grouped together under the same album art even though the info on them is exactly the same except for the episode title.
While I'm here, will the Irish store ever get TV?
    Any ideas.
    Thanks.

Have they already completed download? If not, let them finish and then see if they are, in fact, the same episode. You may also want to check your purchase history to make sure the episode was not accidentally purchase twice:
Seeing your iTunes Store purchase history and order numbers
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93010
=) If they are the same episode, and you were not charged twice, you should feel free to delete the item.

  • JPG and RAW files are not grouped together.

I am finding that my RAW and JPG files are not grouped together.  They show up on the Grid View as JPG for the JPG file and RAW + JPG for the NEF(RAW) file.  This does not seem to be consistent through out the folder.  Some of the pictures are grouped together and others are not.  The ones that are not grouped together have been auto-stacked and then unstacked.  I am not sure if this is what caused the seperation of JPG and RAW files.  I did try to take a picture that I had auto-stacked it  and then remove it and it did not sepearate.  The "Treat JPG files next to raw files as seperate photos" option is turned off, like it is in my Lightroom 3.

This is what I'm talking about:
    Show subfolders are on:
    In windows Explorer:
    In the Import Dialog:
    Where are the files?
If I click on the Folder 2014_12_14... all the files from all folders will populate.

  • Songs with the same album art not grouped together in iTunes for Windows

Brand new iTunes user here - do not yet have an iPod! (Needed some music only on iTunes)
When I first started up iTunes, it imported all of my music I already had on my computer. A few of them are soundtracks with different artists.
When they are shown in the iTunes library, the soundtracks have been broken up by Artist instead of staying as a whole album. How do I get the songs back together as one album? I found the folder on my computer where they are stored and combined them there, but they are still separate in the iTunes library.
    Thanks from a total newbie!

Mark the tracks on the album as "Part of a compilation" and fill in the Album Artist field as "Various Artists". Click on the first track of your album to highlight it, hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight everything in between. Right click on the selection and choose Get Info. You'll get a message asking if you want to edit multiple items, say yes. If you are using iTunes 8 in the box that opens go to the Options tab and change "part of a compilation" to Yes and choose OK.
Also in your library click on the title bar of album column to bring all the tracks in the same album together. If you keep clicking in the title you can choose it to sort by Album, Album by Artist or Album by Year. Clicking on the little triangle on the right side of the column header changes the sort direction. Pointing up and the column is sorted in Ascending order (A to Z). Pointing down and the column is sorted in Descending order (Z to A).

  • TV shows.  Seasons not grouping together?

Hi guys!, have this really annoying problem, i have recorded all the episodes of "My Name Is Eeal", and marked them as TV Shows. But when they are in the TV Shows section, there are not all grouping together properly. The hole first season is fine, but season 3 & 4 are split op into to sections?
One with 3, and one with 13. The one with 13, are missing the episodes of the one with 3 in it:S
There all grouped the same, for eksample -S04E02/"Monkeys Take A Bath"/My Name Is Earl/Season 4/
So why arent they grouping together?
    Se pic´s below.

I don't have any tv shows but with music it is easy to have a space or a zero instead of the letter "O" which will make iTunes think your 3 tracks are a different season. Get info on a track and copy "Season 4" from one of the main group onto the "Season 4" of the grouping and see if it gets it back together again. I have even seen things that seemed identical but perhaps there was some subtle font difference and this pasting trick resolved the problem.

  • Albums not grouping, Could please someone help me?

    Hi all
    First post here
Just before Xmas my external hard drived packed up and we lost all our itunes content.
After installing Itunes back on my laptop i downloaded all the music, films, apps ect we had purchased on the store.
The music albums now though are not all one album and i have googled everything i can think of to try and sort this but i cannot do it.
Seems to be manly compilation albums that the problem occurs with.
There is lots of all the same album covers just showing one song in it by all the different artists.
How do i group it all?
Ive tried all the "get Info and tick the compilations tab" ect ect
Is there something im doing wrong?
Anyone can take me through it step by step?
    Many thanks

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.

  • "Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together?" - Take 2

I've done all the tricks suggested in the doc nu 304389.
I still have some albums splitted in 2 or 3 versions with the same cover art and different songs on each version... How to regroup the rebels??

    I've found the solution:
There is sometimes a useless blank space at the end of the name of an album.
Edit the information: in the album field, remove an eventual blank space at the end of the name of the album by backspacing...
    Et voilà!

  • Downloaded purchases not grouped together

I recently advance-purchased Diana Krall's new CD. As part of the purchase, "Walk on By" was downloaded as a single (track 1). Today, when the rest of the album downloaded, it was missing track 5. As it turns out, "Walk on By" is track 5 on the CD. It's in my library as a single though, in a separate folder. How do I get this song into the CD's folder as track 5 - where it should be.

    The fun continues.
I went from email support for the iTunes support, to phone support, who then sent me back to email iTunes support.
This time around, at their suggestion I completely removed all Apple Software (iTunes, QT, Mobile, Updater and even Safari). Rebooted, then reinstalled the latest 7.4.3.
When I pressed Check for Purchases, 86 tracks were waiting. Once again, they all downloaded with 29 ending up in Limbo (F:\iTunes\Downloads). For the mtimes on the *.tmp directories in Downloads, it appears this was the last 29 files downloaded. The iTunes store thinks all of these downloads are complete.
So removing a *.tmp and trying Check for Purchases doesn't get the job done.
Apple support's response, call the phone numbers.
Deja Vu all over again ;((((

  • Why aren't songs with same album art grouped together?

Yes I know that in itunes help this comes up exatly.... but the method they give you doesnt work.
I was an album purchased from the itunes music store like cmon it ungrouped them its self!
So please help its driving me crazy having 20 songs in different places from the same album and stupid thing is it will rename everything "blank" but it wont add them to a compilation in get info for multiple items.

    Hi newobo,
So, you're saying that you tried to follow [this instructions|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1468] from Apple, but didn't work?
If so, try sorting the library by "Artist" or "Album". If you don't how to do this, just click once over the correspondent column located above the music list in your iTunes library!
Hope this helps! If you still have doubts or problems, please reply...

  • Itunes not grouping the same album artist together

I have had a quick search but not found anyone talking about this issue, apologies if it has been mentioned before.
I have a number of albums that are mixed by DJs. I have set it up so the artists in each album reflect each individual song and the "album artist" is the name of the DJ. I have selected compliation and assigned an album cover. This works fine and each album is grouped together as one album as it should be. The problem is that iTunes doesn't seem to want to arrange these albums in the order of the album artist (ie. the DJ who mixed it).
If I order by "Album by artist" all these albums are placed at the end of the list and ordered by album name and not album artist. If I add the "album artist" category to the display and arrange by this, the albums get split up into individual songs - which is even worse!
Is there a way to get iTunes to sort these albums so they remain together as each album and are also arranged in order of the "album artist" so that eg. All albums mixed by DJ X appear first, followed by those mixed by DJ Y and finally those mixed by DJ Z?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Grouping podcasts
A podcast series will split up in this way when its feed is moved to a new URL. Merging the series requires editing all the older episodes so that they appear to have come from the current feed. Download and install Mp3Tag (not sure of a Mac equivalent offhand). Use it to explore the Extended tags of podcasts from the same series. PODCASTURL (formerly ITUNESPODCASTURL) is used to link different podcasts from the same subscription (as opposed to fields like Album & Album Artist etc.) and PODCASTID (formerly ITUNESPODCASTID) determines the order. Everything else seems to be optional. Backup your files, tweak a few a tags then play each track briefly in turn. If iTunes still fails to notice the updated tags try my script UpdateTagInfo (Win).
As far as I'm aware the order is determined by the PODCASTID, but if you need/want to modify the Release Date then in MP3Tag/Extended Tags it corresponds to RELEASETIME in the format yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ, e.g. 2008-02-20T09:10:52Z
