Albums with various artists down load as 13 separate items. How do I rejoin them as an album?

When I import some compilation albums into my Itunes it seperates them out into seperate "albums" how can I "re-join".

Make sure "artist" and "album artist" are the same.
You only need make sure they all have an identical "album artist" to get them to group together. This can be anything as long as it is the same -- even "various artists" for a true compilation. This is designed so you can keep different artists in the artist field but still have tracks group together. In fact if you do make the artist fields identical, the album would group together in the first place and you don't need to touch album artist. However, there may be cases where you do not want to put the identical artist in the artist field, then you need to either flag them as compilation (as indicated in another post) or give them all a single album artist.

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Sorting songs on an album with multiple artists

Im trying to sort an album with multiple artists so that in the artist view the song appears under that artist like this:
The song Young and Beautiful is from The Great Gatsby soundtrack but as its by Lana Del Rey and im in the Artist view I want it here with the rest of Lana Del Rey as opposed to Various Artists. I moved it here by clearing the "album artist" section in the info tab for the song.
However when I do this and change to Album view, the song doesnt get sorted with the rest of the Great Gatsby soundtrack, istead it is like this:
How can I have the songs from an album with various artists sorted by Artist in the artist tab and then properly sorted by Album in the Album tab. Ive been playing around with it for a while and I cant work it out.
Can anyone help me out?

have you tried to mark the album as a "Compilation" album? Then the songs should sta togeeether in the "Album" view.

Problems with "Various Artists"

Hi I have a 2 disc album that I want to list as "various artists" it's easy with first disc as there are 3 or 4 different artists on that CD that when "Compilation Album" is ticked come up as "VA" however the 2nd CD is all the same artist (Blank & Jones) so of course that will be filed under "B" I have selected all of CD 2 and ticked "part of a compilation" but this does not work, i could fudge it a bit by putting a space in one track but i'd rather not do that, so any help welcome I am using 10.6.2.35 within Win 7 U 64bit.

Well i have been able to solve this and just thought i'd post back in case it helps someone else, as i say i have an album (Double CD) where the first CD is all "Blank & Jones" and the second CD is all "Blank & Jones" but 2 tracks, now marking both of them as part of a compliation did not solve my problem, you see i wanted them both to come up as Various Artists this would not work with CD 1 unless i changed the artiists name from "Blank & Jones" to "Various Artists" which of course is not right.
However just playing around the other morning i highlighted whole of CD 1, right click/get info/ of course it showed Artist as being "Blank & Jones" but i put "Various Artists" into the Album Artist section (2nd one down) and applied and it worked, it turned that album into Various Artists in my line despite all the artist being B&J.
I know i know it's old news to 99% of you but it was new to me so hope it will help others.

How can I get a Album that contains multiple artists to appear as a single album with multiple tracks? Also when I sync iTunes with my iPhone or iPad the Album appears as multiple albums with each artist. The Album title is the same on each of the affected tracks.

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist" or check the "compilation" flag.
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.

Importing an album with multiple artists

When I import an album with multiple artists (ie Absolute Music x) all the songs are given a seperate album symbol. How do I get them all to be listed under the same album name in Cover Flow view?
PS I mostly have this problem with downloaded albums....

How do I import a album with multiple artists as the one album. Everytime I try to do this it does not collate it into one album, the other artists come up seperatley, also if this is possible can you set so that it works automatically everytime?

When listing my music by album on my iphone 4, tracks from the same album with multiple artists appear as separate albums. How can I get the iphone to list these as part of one single album? For example, "Rock of Oldies" is a compilation with 50's music, but on my iphone it appears as a long list of distinct albums: Rock of Olides - Elvis Presley, Rock of Oldies - Beach Boys, and so on. Is this one of those CDs where the main artist asks their friend to sing a song with them?
Such as, Slash's new album. Track 1 is "Slash Feat. Ian Astbury", track 2 is "Slash Feat. Ozzy Osbourne" and so on.
To fix this, select all the tracks on that album, right-click > Get Info, and say YES to changing multiple items.
Put "Slash" in the *Album Artist* field (for this example, of course).
Make sure it is the *Album Artist* field, not the plain Artist field.

Maybe you have multiple accounts that's why your purchase history is empty. You can try checking for possible Apple IDs that's existing for you or you can ask for assistance from support.

Albums with multiple artists do not show up as one album in my library. How can I make them do this WITHOUT having to put all such albums in a playlist so they actually play properly?

Basically, I just got the Matrix Reloaded album off a friend of mine.
The album itself is comprised of multiple contributing artists.
Now, in any other media player, it would happily declare the album to be the product of Various Artists and leave it at that.
iTunes, on the other hand, seems to think I need one album titled "Matrix Reloaded" for every single artist who contributed, which not only looks hideous (I have enough trouble navigating the "Albums" page as is since it's not in any kind of alphabetical order) but also makes it a pain if I just want to put the album on to play and do something else.
The same thing occurs with another album, one of the Red vs Blue soundtracks by Jeff Williams; two of the songs in it are from "Jeff Williams & Steve Goldshein" which iTunes seems to think merits a whole seperate album which is entirely redundant.
At the moment I'm getting by through somewhat-length creation of playlists so I can actually listen to albums with the tracks where they're meant to be, but this should not even be necessary in the first place.
All my music currently is from when I made the jump from WMP after buying an iPod Touch, none of it was actually bought through iTunes.

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix things. For compilations of tracks by different artists set the album artist to Various Artists and also set Part of a compilation to Yes on the Options tab.
