Alert "Power sub-system degraded or failed" won't close automatically after power restores

we have SCOM R2 and HP server in use.
we installed HP server MP.
each server has two power suppliers, one to UPS,  one to Commercial power.
but there is always Commercial power outage, after which alert "Power sub-system degraded or failed" will arise.
when power restores, this alert won't close automatically.
Below please find alert properties,
there is no "Aoto-resolve" attribute, I suppose this is the reason why this alert won't close automatically after power restores.
but I want this alert to be closed automatically by SCOM after power restores, could anyone help me?

It looks like this particular alert is generated by a rule, and that rule simply generates an alert whenever certain events are detected in the event log.  A rule that alerts on the creation of an event does not have the ability to close based on the
detection of a second event.
If this is the behavior you are looking for you would be best to create your own monitor as opposed to this rule, as you can create a custom monitor that alerts on one event or events and closes when another event or events are logged indicating things are
healthy again.
Once you have your custom monitor setup, you would then want to disable this rule that was built into the hp management pack.  You can also look to see if the hp mp has any contact info that you can reach out to and ask for this feature to be included
in the next update of the mp, but for now i think your best option is to create a custom monitor that alerts on one event and closes on another.

  • Computer won't start up after power outage....

We just had a power outage when our computer was on and now that our power is back, the computer won't start up. (I'm typing this on our power book!) I hold in the button on the back, get the "bong" and then the computer whirs for a while with a black screen and then just dies. What to do??

You can, in addition to Barry's excellent suggestions, reset the SMU.

  • Hyper-V - virtual machines don't start automatically after power outage

    Hi,
I have a HP server running Windows 2012 R2 + Hyper-V. On this server, four VM have Windows Server 2003 R2, and one VM has Windows 2012. After power outage, 1 2003 R2 VM and 1 2012 VM are started properly, but the other three machines aren't. I've started
it manually. All VM's have last version of Hyper-V integration tools installed, the option "Automatically start VM if it was running before the service was stopped" was chosen. I'm not very familiar with Hyper-V, so, I've investigated only Hyper-V-VMMS
event log. There are some recurring errors:
The Integration Services Setup Disk image could not be updated: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (0x80070020).
    and
Failed to get the disk information.
    But I think it isn't a clue.
How can I clarify, why these machines aren't started automatically?

    Hi EugenBerend,
Maybe it is related to system resources allocation during the start up .
I would suggest you to configure a startup delay for those lower priority machines so that system
can locate enough resource for them.
    Hope it helps

  • Daughter's iPod touch 4th gen is stuck in recovery mode, won't turn on after I restore it, please help...

My daughters iPod touch 4th gen is STUCK. Somehow it was disabled because of too many password attempts (my younger daughter was pushing numbers). I connected it to iTunes, did the press and hold power button + home button, then let go of sleep button. iTunes recognized it, gave me the option to restore it and did its thing. Here's the problem, now it won't GET OUT of that mode. After the first attempt, it wouldn't power on after I disconnected it from the computer. So I hooked it up again, and it says its detected an iPod in recovery mode and offers me the same "update & restore" option it did originally. Now what??? Please help. My daughter just got this two weeks ago for her birthday.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    or
    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Hyper-V Host displays error "Automatic Reapir Failed" and will not start after Power Outage

I have a single Dell PowerEdge configured as a Hyper-V host running Wink12 R2 Preview as a Native Boot VHD and hosting about a dozen VM's. We had a break in the power, just a lights on lights off, but it was enough to shut the machine down and trigger restart.
But the machine won't restart--instead it displays a message "Automatic repair Failed" and none of the Advanced repair options work to get the host back online.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Michael J. Murphy

    Hi MJMurphy,
Sorry for the delay , it seems likely a disk problem cause of unexpect interrupt .
Please boot the host from OS ISO and  try to copy the VMs' VHD files and any important data to a safe place (such as external USB)via command prompt mode  .
(perhaps you need to prepare raid driver if you have a raid controler  )
Using diskpart --> list volume to check the status of disk partion or you can contact the hardware vendor to check it .
    Hope this helps

  • Thunderbolt won't wake up after power outage

This is more of me documenting a solution than asking a question...
I have a Mac Mini Server connected to a Thunderbolt display and a 23" monitor through the HDMI interface. When I experience a power outage at my house, my Mac Mini Server shuts down (that's how I know there was a power outage while I was out of the house). When I power up the Mac Mini, it interprets the HDMI monitor as the main monitor and the Thunderbolt won't wake up.
I've tried a bunch of different solutions (rebooting with the HDMI disconnected and only the Thunderbolt connected, CMD-OPT-PR PRAM reset, connecting the Thunderbolt to a MacBook Air) and nothing solves the problem. The Thunderbolt won't wake up.
The solution is to unplug the Thunderbolt display for about a minute or two, then plug it back in. Somehow this resets the Thunderbolt. When the Mac Mini starts up again (with both the HDMI and Thunderbolt connected) it reboots using the Thunderbolt as the main display and the HDMI as the secondary (as is set up in my System Preferences).
I haven't found this solution anywhere else on the 'net. Let me know if you have similar problems / solutions.

Thanks, this was the only solution I found online that worked!

  • HP Officejet 6500 won't print black after power outages

We experienced a series of power outages last night. Now the black won't print at all. The print cartridge is fairly new, about a month old, scarcely used. All the color cartridges will print.
I've tried cleaning the print heads and running the alignment tests, but nothing can produce any black ink. For a pure text page with just black lettering and nothing else, the printer goes through the motions but nothing is printed.
I have a feeling that the power outages tripped it up somehow. Is there a way to undo this?
    thanks in advance

@Kenteeple and @oli22  If you make a copy, will that print black?

  • IMac won't turn on after power cut

When my iMac is unexpectedly turned off, ether at the wall or during a power cut, it won't then come back on immediately.  Sometimes it will come back on after an hour, sometimes after a couple of days.  Anyone know why this is? There is no logic to it. I've tried all the trouble shooting stuff; the resetting SMC for example. And I've got a surge protector. I've also taken it into an Apple store, a round trip of 3 hours, twice already over the past couple of months.  But after doing some diagnostic tests on it they can find nothing wrong.  Also, when they go to turn it on, it fires up immediately.  I was told that unless they experience the problem themselves they can't do anything.  Which means I'm forever taking it in to them, during this problem, on the off chance it may still be a problem when I get there.  It's very infuriating. Help!!!

Great advice.  And I'll definitely do that - need to get my Mac back on and working before that however.

  • IMac 2ghz won't turn on after power loss

I really hope someone can help me. My 07 or 08 2 ghz iMac will not turn on after losing power which includes being unplugged or the power being turned off. This happens whether or not it is shut down properly. Once it will not turn on it must be unplugged and sit for about 12 hours or be plugged into a different outlet. Outlets are all fine. Have reset pram and all that stuff. It is surge protected. Any suggestions? Thanks

I have been having exactly the same problem as Mhuntet11.
My 2010 i3 iMac will not turn on after losing power, which includes being unplugged or the power being turned off.
It has happened to me 4 times now.  In each case - nothing will get it started.  But on each occasion - about 2 days after the power cut - the iMac will start up again, good as new.
I have also experienced the other thing that  Mhuntet11 said:
"when it won't turn on I plug it into a different outlet and if it does turn on I can unplug it and put it back in the original outlet and it works fine"
Yep - once, after 2 days of trying every power point in the house, I finally started up in the kitchen.  Not very practical, so I bit the bullet and powered it down again and moved it back to the office.  It stared fine.
Does this sound like a fault that should be serviced?  Or is there some re-set technique I do not know about.
I have followed the SMC reset procedure and it does nothing

  • FCP won't fully launch after power outage

    Hello all,
I walked away for a long render - while gone the electricity went out. The G4 was on a battery back up but the firewire destination drive was not.
I saved the project under a new name and rebooted the whole system. Now, FCP will not fully launch. The opening screen comes up and launch starts to the point it finds my SONY dsr-45 but then it does not open up for a new or old project from the alias nor from double clicking the project name from Finder.
I re-installed FCP and sent older versions to the trash. Still does not fully open.
Other applications (Photoshop) operate as usual. AAAAAUUUUUUUGGGHHHHHHHHHH !
...anybody have any good ideas what to try next?
    Fustrated and on deadline.

This gets better... I have a McBkPro with the same version of FCP. So I connect the same FW drive to it to keep editing. But many of the render files were on the G4 so I render again on this machine... the process locks up in the same place each time. I figure it is a corrupt media file so I dis able the clip from the sequence and try to render the same selection - it does fine and finishes the render. Then I move to a diffeerent area on the sequence to render there and again a lock up. This is spiral of death frozen - have to hold the power button down to reboot FROZEN !!!
I am beginning to think the G4 needs a complete and total UN-install of FCP and re-install.
And the FW drive has physical damage from loosing power during a render/write and is dead.
    Any thoughts?

  • My iMac won't turn on after power flickered on and off.Is there a virus affecting it or is something ele wrong?

My iMac was on and we had our power flicker because of weather conditions. I know the computer is hooked up right because it was on before the power went out.So my question is, is there a virus that had been affecting it before it went off, or is the power button broken? And any help would be appreciated because we have just taken in other computers for various reasons and we really don't want to take it in again.Oh, and i don't really know which model it is. Thanks

Try an SMC reset - sometimes works:
    SMC Reset
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer’s power cord and disconnect peripherals (printers/external hard disks, etc. but not keyboard or mouse).
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • IMac won't boot anymore after power cut

Thanks to the great storms in New Jersey, my iMac does not boot anymore after a power cut. Does not get past the apple logo screen with the spinning wheel and keeps rebooting every 2 minutes.
I was able to mount the HD via Firewire on a host machine and the disk seemed fine.
I booted from the Install disk and ran Disk Utility - seemed fine though I could not verify the disk permissions ?
One other thing - I seemed to remember the white light (front bottom right) was blinking before during start-up. Now it goes and stays black after couple of seconds.
    Help please,
    Philippe

HI Phillipe and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
If you haven't done so, try running the Apple Hardware Test.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509
I doubt repairing disk permissions can't help this problem. It sounds like a hardware issue.
*"I booted from the Install disk and ran Disk Utility - seemed fine though I could not verify the disk permissions ?"*
When you ran Disk Utility via Firewire, did you actually Verify the hard disk for errors?

    Hi,
From the description, Hawaiian_Starman's suggestion of Onyx sounds like the right idea. Try downloading Onyx via this command in the Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal:
    curl http://pagesperso-orange.fr/joel.barriere/dl/105/OnyX.dmg -o ~/Desktop/Onyx.dmg
Copy and paste that command in a Terminal window then press return. It should initiate a download of the Onyx.dmg file to your Desktop. When the Terminal window shows the download is complete, try opening the dmg file on the Desktop to use it.
