All Music and Video gone from Ipod classic - help please.

I unplugged my ipod from my work pc yesterday and found that all the music and video have apparently been erased.
I've plugged it back in this morning in the hope that an xml file needs rebuilding somewhere and itunes is showing my ipod as empty, even the pc thinks there is 150gb+ space on there. Sharepod also thinks it's empty.
The strange thing being that some old photos that were on there have remained. I don't use the sync feature and unfortunately my back up external disk which contains my music library is in another country at the moment.
Have my files gone forever?

Sounds like the directory holding the music has been erased. Odd that it still had some photos. An undelete/unformat software might be able to rebuild most of your files from "free" sections of the disc that haven't yet had anything new written into them. If you can recover the files to the point that they are taking up space on the iPod's drive (or they can be copied to another drive) there are other posts that help with rebuilding them into a library.
There probably are some suitable free tools out there if you can wade through all the "free" recovery tools that are only free up until the point of any actual recovery.... Otherwise shell out a little cash or wait until you can be reunited with your backup.

  • NOT ABLE TO IMPORT MUSIC AND VIDEO FILES FROM IPOD TO COMPUTER/ITUNES LIBRARY !!!!

Hi.... I am having IPod Nano 5th Generation. I can access music and video files (that are stored in Ipod memory) in Ipod. But when I connect the ipod to computer, I am not able to access/import these music and video files through computer. Also, I am not able to see any folders like DCIM, Contacts, etc... in the memory of IPod. Can any body help me out... ?

Search it up on google.com.  There's a lot of apps that will help you do this.  Check out this one:

You can also check out this video:

I tried the import software (trial version) and it was fine but I didn't want to pay for software.  You can authorize up to 5 computers in the house to access your iTunes music and other iTunes purchases. Open iTunes, you can go under Store and select Authoize this computer.
    Good luck!

  • Pix and Videos gone after update - need help please.

    Hi all,
I upgraded to the new OS2 and loved it... no problems there.  When I tried to connect and pull pictures off via my PC, I got a message Blackberry Desktop software could not connect.  I tried it multiple times after restarting the Playbook but would not connect.  It connected and advised I needed to upgrade my software which I did, but when I started the Playbook after the install it was like it was brandnew out of the box.  Had to go through the tutorial and then I was shocked to find all my pictures and videos were gone.  I don'r care about the videos but had some really important (to me at least) pictures I wanted off of it.
Sooooo.... any chance of recovering those or does the updates just "Blow" everything away?  I will never use my Playbook to take any pictures or video of anything again and guess I learned a painful lesson.
Thanks for ANY input you might be able to provide.

Same thing happened to me. RIM <Inappropriate Content Removed>

  • Transfer my music and foto's from Ipod to computer

My Ipod Photo was synchronised with a laptop. This one crashed and now I want to put the music and photo's to my new laptop.
Nowhere can I find a way to do so.
    Who can help me?
    regards
    Anjo

First of all try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
CopyPod Photo can be used for your photos, although if you loaded them to your iPod as full resolution photos, you should be able to retrieve them from your iPod by enabling disk use and dragging them out of the photo folder on the iPod. I've never actually tried this though.

  • IPod music and videos gone; can't locate iPod Controls

this has just happened to me.
i double clicked on a song to play, while my iPod was patched into my computer. it started playing, and i clicked up in the now playing portion to skip through part of the song. everything is now gone. i got a new computer because my old one had crashed out. The computer is 3 days old and Today (day of the problem) is the third day i've been using my iPod in the exact same way, and I have been used it this way on my old computer since December. for the record i manually update, and since my old computer is crashed out i cannot simply resynch. also, when i reconnected my iPod after the problem it wanted me to go thru the same process as when your iPod is brand new (naming, choosing auto update or not, register).
Could it be that when i installed a more current version of iTunes/iPod software, the i Pod erased from an update or something?
If so, why would it do this now and not three days ago when i first plugged my iPod into my new computer with the new iTunes/iPod software?
Lastly, I noticed others who have had a similar problem were able to recover their music by going into the iPod through My Computer and going to a iPod control folder, then to a music folder. I can't find either in my iPod, or anywhere on my computer. The only files in there are Calendars, Contacts, Notes (none of which i ever used) and Photos (and all of my photos were still there, giving me hope my music and videos are still there somewhere). Does anyone know how I can find it?

also, when i reconnected my iPod after the problem it wanted me to go thru the same process as when your iPod is brand new (naming, choosing auto update or not, register).
hmmmm. with that symptom, we'd better check on this possibility:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
you might have to put the ipod into disk mode to get her to show up in Disk Management:

  • Ipod taking all music and videos of slowly

so far my ipod has taken half my music, 2 episodes of tow and a half men, 1 episode of family guy, and 5 episodes of survivor but not all at once it has come off slowly over the past week
i try to restore it, but it says
your hardware cannot be restored because it is in use with another application
but I bought it new and its on in use with 1 computer
    can anyone help?

Hi! Not really sure what you mean.
Are the entire missing from itunes on your computer or from off of the ipod Classic?
    1. Check you itunes library folder and verify that the entries are missing from the library itself.
    2. If they are present, and just not showing up in itunes, use the add file feature to add them to itunes.
    3. If they are missing off of the classic and are in itunes, do a sync, if you sync all of your music and videos. Check how you sync your movies and videos (all, unwatched)
Any other suggestion I could make, require more information.
    Hope this helps...

  • My music and videos disappeared from my iPod touch!!! :(

I just realized today that I've lost all my music and videos (movies, podcasts, etc.) from my iPod! I haven't connected it to our computer in quite a while, I've just been charging it with a wall-plug.
I did go onto wireless internet at the airport last week, but I don't know if that would have corrupted it?
The problem is, I can't re-load all the music and videos back onto my iPod, because the USB ports on my laptop aren't working, and that's where my iTunes are... Is there another way to transfer my iTunes content to somebody else's computer? Burning my songs on CD's isn't an option - i have 1500 songs, and I've been able to fit about 20 on a CD....
    HELP please!!!

yes, same here.. my apps are still there, but music and videos are gone...
please, can anybody help?? i can't put the music back onto my iPod, because my usb ports aren't working... what can i do???

  • Songs and video gone from 5G iPod, games and photos remain

I hook my iPod up to two computers regularly, at home and at work. Because of this, I don't do any auto-synching. Last night, I disconnected my iPod from my home computer without trouble. When I connected it to my iMac at work, however, the songs and videos disappeared. iTunes asked me to name and synch up the iPod, which it never has before.
The songs are still there, apparently, as the capacity indicator shows 8.3GB of "Other" space being used along with the 31.6MB of Photos that I can actually see. There is no indication of Game space used, although I do have one game on there that I can play.
Resetting the iPod doesn't work. I don't want to try a restore, because I'd rather not have to upload all the content from my home computer to the iPod again, losing all of my Star and Audio Level settings, which I only control on the iPod. Anyone know how I can convince the iPod that Other is actually Music and Videos?

Sounds like the directory holding the music has been erased. Odd that it still had some photos. • How do I transfer all music and videos from one computer to another?

I need to transfer my music and videos that are in itunes from my laptop to my new desktop, and I dont want to lose anything because when I update my ipod it will be takin off, right? Please tell me how I go about doing this, thanks a bunch!!

There are a number of things you could do. One would be to network the to computers and transfer your iTunes folder from one to another. You can also use your iPod as a hard drive and move the folder with it though that would be considerably slower than computer to computer. Here are a few links that may help you out:

This article describes moving your music to another drive on the same computer but could be adapted to moving between networked computers: Moving your iTunes Music Folder
Also If you are using the iPod in manual update mode, your iPod is safe from being accidentally erased when you connect to iTunes on a different computer. Change the setting before connecting it to your new PC:

  • Upgrading to 11.1.1 has wiped my ipad1 of all music and videos when synching. Please help

I am running Windows XP, have an ipad1 running IOS 5.1.1 and an ipod 5th gen 80gb video.
I have 6,000 songs in iTunes, podcasts, books, apps and numerous movies and videos both purchased from Apple Store and some home converted mp4s.
I upgraded to 11.1.1 5 days ago and since then, every time I have tried to sync my ipad as I add more videos, it has gone mad and on step 4 out of 5 of the synch process it hangs and then gives me a unknown error code -69 and not only does it not add any new video files, it removes existing ones that have always been there and I just get the grey dotted circle next to them now when I look at the ipad films directory.  Podcasts are fine.
I have fully restored the ipad, I have experimented with manually managing music and videos, I have tried to add the old 'always worked before' videos back, one by one but absolutely nothing works and since I did the restore, it now won't add ANY of my music files...I just get the error -69.
I connected my old faithful ipod instead to see what happened and exactly the same story.
Can I roll back a version of iTunes? What can I do? It's been maddening and I have spent 2 days trying to fix it.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions I can try. I see that many people here have had similar problems and turning wifi on the device off seemed to have helped - but I don't even have wifi on my ipod and it screwed that up.

    Hi there,
That's a point for a huge discussion... "EPMA may already be on its way out the door"
I thought that it is the other way round? That Oracle aims to stop using classic application and move everything to EPMA...

  • How to re-enable Manually Manage Music and Videos without erasing all music and videos

I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 8.1.1 and iTunes 12.0.1.  When I updated iTunes recently to the new version, 12.0.1 it unchecked the Manually Manage Music and Videos option on my iPhone's summary page.  I just want to re-enable this feature without having to spend the time re-installing all my music and playlists.  Is there a way to enable this feature without erasing my music and videos?

I've gone from auto-sync mode to manual management before, and the music, playlists, and videos which on the device from auto-sync are not removed when changing to manual.
