All my 3rd party apps won't open on my iPhone 4.

Recently all my apps won't open on my iPhone. All the stock Apple apps work though. All the 3rd party apps don't work. What can I do? I tried resetting, and restoring. What else should i try?

I'm also going through this problem and the only way to fix it (as far as I know) is go to App Store in your iPhone and download any random app (free app preferably), then make sure all your 3rd party apps work again and delete the random app you just downloaded.

  • My 3rd party apps won't open. Please Help (Ipad Mini 6.1.3)

I have downloaded a 3rd party app, after using it for several weeks without interruption. It suddenly won't open (crashes) everytime I tried to open it. I have already tried on re installing the app, but nothing happened. Please help, I badly needed that app.

Try deleting the app, closing all apps in the recents tray, reboot the iPad, and then download the app again.
In order to cloase all apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Close all of them. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
    Download the app again.

  • IPhone 3rd party apps won't launch anymore!

After updating the iPhone software to 3.1, a host of 3rd-party apps won't launch anymore (appear for 1 second, then revert back to the apps icons page).
I've tried upgrading to iTunes 9, uninstalling then reinstalling ALL apps on the iPhone via iTunes, hard rebooting my iPhone, restarting my iMac, etc etc, but nothing works.
On a iPhone 3Gs page on the Forums, I saw many others having similar difficulties and blaming it on the XX upgrade. One solution proposed there was to download a free app from the App Store and install it. Tried that, and it didn't work for me.
I hope Apple will give this attention, because it's basically disabled my iPhone's business-sensitive functionalities (like 1Password) on the eve of a 2week business trip ... and on business trips, I don't have my iMac with me! >:-(
In case it helps the OS is showing as 3.1 (7C144) on my device.

    Hi!
I may have a solution to your problem. I updated to Firmware 3.1 today and couldn´t open any application i downloaded. I seems the updated version of iTunes handles apps a little different from before. When you connect your iPhone and it pops up in iTunes, right click on it to enter your configuration area (for the iPhone). At the top bar you have a row of options like music, pictures, podcast and somewhere in the middle you have the option "Programs". Click on that and you will see a list of all the programs you have downloaded in iTunes. Unfortunatly you have to recheck all the boxes at the left side of the program you want to be synched to your iPhone. Check these boxes and click "Apply" at the bottom right and iTunes will now transfer them to your iPhone. Easy breasy when you know how to do.
    Best of luck, Cheers!

This can not be discussed here I'm afraid.

  • All third party apps won't open after moving to 4g

I updated the desktop to iTunes 10 and downloaded all of the updates to my iPod apps. I bought a new 4g to replace a lost 2g. I synced after dl'ing app updates to the desktop.
All 3rd party apps only open and close all in 1/2 second.
Will the suggestion on the support page about reauthorizing the computer help this issue?
I haven't been able to get back home to try. Thanks.
(disregard specs below.... I still have all that, but now I'm on my 4gTouch)

Sorry, I was sending that from my iPod.
I lost my last iPod. It was backed up on iTunes on my Desktop computer. It was a 2G model.
I've been off the internet for about 4 months but recently bought a new 4G Touch and got a new Broadband2Go card.
So, I used my Desktop computer to update all the apps for my Touch to iTunes on my Desktop, then I synced my iPod to my Desktop to apply all of the updates to the Touch.
All apps are there, just like before, but nothing will open. Only the Apple apps. They flash but close right away.
I'm home now, and will try the Apple suggestion in the FAQ.
I just wanted to make sure it was the best way to approach my particular problem.

  • MS Office and some other 3rd-party apps no longer open

Whenever I try to open any MS Office applications, the icon just bounces briefly in the dock then disappears. It's Office v. X, carried over from my old iBook. It worked fine on my new iMac for a few months, I think until New Year's Eve when I installed Security Update 2007-009.
Since then I've tried uninstalling (or rather deleting, since the included uninstaller also fails to run) and reinstalling from the DVD, verifying the HD in Disk Utility, installing the combined update from download, and moving or trashing the com.Microsoft.Word.plist and so on in my Preferences folder, but the problem remains.
The computer came with an Office 2004 "Test Drive" which also fails to run, and it's also affected a few other 3rd-party applications, but by no means all of them. For instance, Microsoft Messenger runs fine.
I was waiting for the next security update (2008-001) to see if that fixed it, but no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Like I said, Office X worked fine on the intel for the first couple of months. And the Office 2004 taster which came installed (and so should work regardless) was affected in exactly the same way, so it's not a compatibility problem. Also, repairing permissions is what I meant by 'verifying the HD in Disc Utility'.

  • Third Party Apps Won't Open

This morning, I finally got around to updating my iPhone 3G to 3.1.2. However, as soon as I did so, all of my third part apps STOPPED working. They would open for a second and then close right away. Apps like iPod, Mail, and Phone work, but anything not made my Apple (including Facebook) will NOT! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling apps, reauthorizing my computer, restarting my iPhone, calling it dirty names (not that I expected that to help) -- everything I can think of. Is anyone else having a similar issue? Does ANYONE have a solution??

There are a number of existing threads on this issue. See here, for example:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2229153&tstart=0
The short answer is to 're-purchase' an app, (even an existing one) on the phone. See the referenced link for more information.

  • Just synced my iphone 3GS and now half of my apps won't open on my iphone. I tried the reboot but it didn't help. This is version 4.3.2 . Any ideas?

Just synced my iphone 3GS and now many of my app's won't open on my phone.  This was with version 4.3.2. I tried a reboot on my iphone but that didn't help. Any ideas?

this happened to me with my iPhone 4. I researched the problem and found this :
"The reason this happens is because every time a downloaded app is opened it checks for your itunes password for validation that you are authorized to open that app (as it may contain personal info). From time to time the iphone 'forgets' your itunes password. You can fix the missing password by syncing the iphone with itunes or downloading an app from the app store and entering your password that way.”
And to fix it, all I did was download a new app, or delete a current one, I used Facebook, and re-download it.
    Hope this helps

  • My FB app won't open on my iPhone 4s

My FB app all of a sudden won't open......I have looked up the issue on the net but found no resolution.

You can try a reset, hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • Newly downlowded third-party apps won't open.

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro and am running OS 10.8.4.  Recently, I have tried to download several third party applications.  I got the usual Gatekeeper warnings and have bypassed them.  In fact, I have disabled Gatekeeper completely.  I have also turned off Gatekeeper's automatic updates to the list of known malware sites (not sure if my lingo is correct on this one).  Anyway, I don't think Gatekeep is the issue.  When I get the app downloaded, I will try to open it, and the icon will pop up very briefly on my bottom toolbar.  However, it disappears immediately and the program does not run.  This issue seemed to have started when I upgraded by system to Mountain Lion.  I have looked everywhere for an answer to this, but can't find it.  Can anyone help?  Thanks!

Information from the Chrip site indicates the app is supported by Intel but it doesn't say anything about exactly which Mac OS X is supported. It may not work on ML v10.8.4
Try their Help menu >  http://www.redmine.org/guide
I downloaded the Chirp file. Keep in mind it's a .zip meaning it's an archived file. I tried opening with the Unarchiver app from the Mac App Store, but no go. No dialog, nothing.

  • 3rd Party Apps won't uninstall or display correctly in App Manager

I've found that my Razr, like most devices, needs housecleaned every so often to perform at peak.
I regularly (monthly-ish, or whenever the device seems bogged-down) clear the cache partition, and houseclean the App caches.  Some of them get very cumbersome, and it does seem to help app performance.
I've noticed that sometimes some apps, randomly (not consistent cuprits, though it seems to be whatever I use most often or whatever moves a lot of data around) don't update in the app manager, and when they're like that, you can't uninstall or do anything with them, even though they run fine.  Fine, but like molasses in January.
For this, I'm having trouble with Megapolois and Words With Friends.
Going to the App Manager -> 'All' and going to either app yields all the fields populated by "Computing..."   and it just stays that way.
I've tried to unistall the app from there, thinking something was just hung-up, and the "Uninstalling.." screen comes up...and the bar moves, and it does nothing.  Forever.  Same when I try to uninstall from the App Store.  App Store -> My Apps -> [App] -> Uninstall.  Circle spins, it says its uninstalling, but 90 minutes later, there we sit.
In both cases, I can't back-out of the action.  I can go back to the home screen, but I can't get back to "Manage Apps" or the Play store as appropriate without it going right to that stalled operation in progress.  I have to reboot the phone.
I've tried in Safe Mode with the same result.
There must be a way to nuke/reset these apps from the recovery menus somewhere.  How?
I also have a bunch of apps, Maps for instanance, where I can't clear the cache.  Push the "Clear Cache" button, it lights up blue...and the cache doesn't clear.
    Suggestions?

You May Have to Run a Factory Reset are you running the Latest OS 4.1.2 if not I'd run the F.R. followed a System Cache Clear then Update to 4.1.2. if you haven't..

  • Upgraded to 10.4.9, afterwhich 3rd party software won't open.

After I upgraded to 10.4.9 from 10.4.8 on my iMac G4 I receive msgs as follows: APPLICATION LAUNCH FAILURE. The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "2<Microsoft Word><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_CarbonSound>"

    Can someone help??

    Thank you baltwo!
Before your suggestions, I tryed to reinstall 10.4.9 with the PowerPC version, but to no avail. Of course I didn't backup my system.

  • My apps won't open on my iPhone 4s

Hi does anyone know how to fix this? I have only ha my phone for a week and it's down this twice now and I have tried restarting it 4 times. Thanks

Hi. I have tried resetting my iPhone 4S three times and I have also downloaded a free app. Neither of those have fixed the problem. It only seems to be the Just Dance 3/Autodance app that won't stay open but I don't want to lose all my dancing videos on there as they cannot be recreated Please help me I've had the 4S from November 2011. I assume that if I delete the app and reinstall it that will delete all of my videos? I can't see another way to get them off the iPhone and on to my laptop.

  • App Won't Open on Verizon iPhone

    Hello All,
A few days ago I purchased an app called "Skeptic's Dictionary" for $0.99.  After it installed, I went to open it and it immediately closed.  After 2 days worth of troubleshooting to fix it, as well as emailing the app's developer, I came to the conclusion that it's not compatible with Verizon's iOS, which is 4.2.8.  The app's developer, in no uncertain terms, basically said it's designed to run on iOS 4.3, which is the latest version of iOS and what AT&T's iPhones have, but not Verizon's.  This app was released at the very end of March, so it wasn't around prior or 4.3.  Do a Google search, you'll see that Verizon's iPhone's iOS is behind.
Anyways, from what I've read online, Apple sent letters to app developers explaining this and asked them to update their apps to run on both iOS 4.2 and 4.2.8.  Obviously this one did not and now I'm out $0.99.  Not a whole lot, but it's still money.  If I had known about this issue before purchasing this app, I never would've purchased it and instead could've used that $0.99 on an app that I could use.  I know iTunes doesn't give refunds, I don't care.  If it had been a $5+ app, then I'd be pretty mad, but whatever.  I'm now hesitant on purchasing anymore apps because of this; I don't want to waste money on an app that I have no clue if it'll work or not since I don't have the most recent iOS on my phone.
    Anyways, my questions:
    1) Does this developer have to update his app to work on iOS 4.2.8?  Given Apple's strict App & App Store policy, I'm surprised this app managed to slip by them since it doesn't work on Verizon's iPhones, which make up a LOT of the iPhone user base.  Should I send iTunes an email letting them know about this app's issue?  If I do, will they do anything about it?
    2) Is Verizon going to get iOS 4.3 at all?  It came out in March and it's now July.
    3) Has anyone else with a Verizon iPhone had the misfortune of downloading an app that doesn't work because it's not compatible with anything below iOS 4.3?

Sorry, above, it should be "Apple sent letters to app developers explaining this and asked them to update their apps to run on both iOS 4.3 and 4.2.8"
For some reason the "edit" button is not on my OP.

  • My messages app won't open on my iPhone.

Recently, when I go to open the messges app, it launches, but in about 15 seconds with a blank white screen, it crashes to the home page. and no matter what i do it continues to have these hiccups. I've restored, relaunched, and restarted numerous times. please help.

Hi everyone, I had this problem but none of the solutions above worked. What happened with me, and with others in other forums, is that a particular thread or message was causing the problem. I'd go to open the message and all I'd get was a white screen with the blue bar at the top. So, I went into contacts, pressed 'send message' to a contact whose message wasn't causing the problem, then I pressed back to messages. You then swipe to the left on the thread that's causing the problem, and delete it. Sadly this means you will lose all that person's messages, but you can try opening it from there and deleting it on the thread. Didn't work for me though. Hope that helps! It was the only thing that worked for me after about three days of total frustration and resetting!
