All non-Apple Wireless Clients won't Connect to Time Capsule

I have a latest gen Apple 2TB TC (ME177LL/A) and have had it for about 14 months. I have never had any issue with it in the past and have perhaps only had to reset it twice in that 14 month span.
Came home from work last night to watch some Netflix on my PS4, and noticed my PS4 couldn't connect to the network. In the PS4 OS I kept getting errors that said either the network no longer existed or my password was incorrect. I simply tried to re-enter my password multiple times, but only once was the PS4 successfully able to connect. The one time it did connect the network speed indicated in the PS4 speed test was less than 200 kpbs. Within moments, the PS4 lost connection again. I was unable to reconnect.
At this point I figured I would just use the PS3 instead...same issue, however. Initially thought it was perhaps a PSN issue, but this time I never once could get the PS3 to connect. It repeatedly just said the network wasn't available or the password was incorrect. Went through the same troubleshooting steps that I did on the PS4 with no luck.
At this point I realized my Lyric thermostat had been erroring out and giving me a notification on my phone---the app on my phone wasn't able to connect to the Lyric via Wifi. Also noticed my August Connect was flashing red and was not connected. DirecTV Genie was not connected to my TC network either. Then went to my home office to discover my Slingbox was no longer connected either. Interestingly enough, though, my iPhone, MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, wife's iPhone, and MacBook all were still connected to my TC network with no issues. I performed speed tests on all of them and all were giving me well over my 60 Gbps Internet speeds. These devices never disconnected nor had any hiccups.
Essentially determined all my non-Apple devices couldn't stay connected to the TC network.
Proceeded to just reset the TC and see what would happen. None of the non-Apple devices could connect. Same "Network not found/incorrect password"
Then proceeded to perform factory reset on TC. At the same time I unplugged my Charter internet modem from power and cat5 out. Powered on modem, waited. Then powered up TC. I did this process twice through, once with auto selected 2.4/5 Ghz channels--still had issue with devices being unable to connect. The second time through, I set up the 2.4/5 Ghz bases upon the most "open" channels as shown by iStumblr (I live in fairly large luxury apartment building that has many networks -- so there are A LOT of networks).
This time I appeared to have success. One-by-one I was able to connect all my non-Apple devices to this new network with the new SSID and credentials. All devices were able to connect and the PS3/PS4 were able to connect to PSN and I was very easily able to get Netflix.
Woke up this morning and noticed all non-Apple devices were once again not connected....really not sure what's going on. Didn't have time to dive in deeper before heading to work.
Just as an FYI, I have 2 different Macs backing up to the TC via Time Machine wirelessly (the primary reason I have a TC and not another router). Also have an Asustor AS5008T connected to the TC via round robin link aggregation. All Macs are running Yosemite. All iPhones are running iOS 8.3. Offhand, I don't know the firmware the TC is running. I made no recent changes to the network or any of the hardware.
Anybody have any idea what could be the culprit? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Whilst I said in my first post that apple had removed all the logs.. you can still get them via PC version 5 airport utility... you will need to plug in via ethernet since wireless is not working. You can also install v5 utility into a Mac but I cannot tell you how. Google it.
The other method.. and I am not at all sure if it is useful or not.
Using the airport utility in an ipad.. click on the TC, then edit.. then advanced.. Diagnostics and Usage Data.
Go into this and you will see the Airport utility has got a stack of info out of the TC..(for secret transmission to apple).
eg
I guess it is comparison between normal functionality and when it fails that will show something interesting.. meaning you will need to track the info... and it is not so easy to get it out other than as a screenshot..

My Apple wireless keyboard won't connect to my Mac mini any more. Going through the Bluetooth Setup Assistant doesn't help - the computer finds the keyboard, but when I type in the pass code it fails to pair with it. The green LED on the bottom of the keyboard flashes twice at roughly two-second intervals. I've tried replacing the batteries and this has had no effect. I have all the latest software updates installed.

    Welcome Cheirhandrea!
There are easily hundreds of variants of the iMac dating back to 1998. Many of the pre-2006 iMacs this forum covers cannot support an Apple wireles keyboard. Because this model has been in production for so long, it is important for you to let us know as much about your computer as possible so someone won't give you information that may not be appropriate to your iMac variant.
    So we need to know:
    1) Your processor type and Mac OSX version, both available by doing "About this Mac" from your Apple menu at the left end of the menu bar:
    2) The make and model of the keyboard.
I asked for your Mac OS version because "iOS" as currently shown in your equipment profile cannot run on any Mac computer, only Apple's mobile devices. Once you get the OS version from "About this Mac," please change your profile to avoid further confusion and get help faster without the delay of someone having to ask for clarification before they can start helping.

  • APEx '03 and Non-Apple Wireless Client Connection Problems

Good morning. I have a 2003 vintage AirPort Extreme, running 5.5.1 firmware (due to the issues with the newer firmware discussed on this forum).
    --> Wired iMax
    My setup is DSL-->APEx--|
    --> Apple Wireless Clients
    --> Linksys w54 acting as a bridge
In order to get the Linksys working in the first place, I had to remove the WEP, not a huge deal as we live in the boonies and no one within range of the APEx. I couldn't figure out how to get anything to work with Apple wireless security outside of the Family. I have it manually set to channel 1, and radio mode to G only.
My problem basically is that non-Apple devices can see the SSID but cannot connect. The problem at hand are my kids' various PSPs & Ninendo DS's, and a little Windows CE netbook. Of course, none of these simple devices give anything helpful in terms of errors. Those three different devices all have their own version of the same error: See the SSID, try to connect, but fail.
I'd like to figure out this problem, although the simpler solution might be to just buy another cheap Linksys on craiglist and use it for the non-Apple stuff.

  • MBP won't connect to Time Capsule

OK, this is odd for some time now my Time Capsule has been flashing the amber light but I've still been able to connect.
Today when I woke up my MBP (Penryn, OS 10.6.8) the Airport/Time Capsule (2nd Gen, v7.4.2) did not connect. However my iPhone did have a connection. I could see my network from the Airport icon so I thought it might have something to do with the amber light flashing and so I connected by ethernet and reset all my settings and now I have a green light again. Yea.
But, my MBP still won't connect to the network. It see's it, it just won't connect.
When I open System preferences the Airport is amber (and Airport is on and connected). When I click on Assist Me and Diagnostic the Airport shows green but all others are red.
If I plug in the ethernet ISP, Internet and Server all turn green but but Airport Setting and Network Settings both fail (red)
When I use the Assistant in Network Preferences it won't accept my password.
Oddly my iPhone still connects using the original password but now when it wakes up my iPhone it's showing 3G for about a second and then switches to WiFi. That's not happened before.

OK, spent time at the Apple Store and they told me my Time Capsule was dead (even though my iPhone could still connect). They suggested there was an outside chance if I reinstalled the OS (didn't help).
Then I called Apple Support and they said I needed to call my ISP and get a bunch of info (which when I called my ISP they had no clue what I was referring to).
Finally called Apple Support again and a guy named Greg told me to quit all my open applications, open a new Finder Window go to the HD>Library>Preferences. Scroll to the very bottom and trash the System Configurations Folder. Empty the Trash. Shut down the machine for 30+ second and then restart.
Bang, all is working great. After I got on the phone with Greg it took less than five minutes and I'm up and running like a charm.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard won't connect under Windows

    Hi there,
I've installed XP on my MacBook Pro via BootCamp, but my wireless keyboard & mouse won't connect. XP asks about pairing verification number, and I didn't found the number. Where can I find the number?
    Thanks

    Hello:
It sounds like a Microsoft issue. Why not see if the great cloud in the sky in Washington has an answer - perhaps on their web site. The reason lies somewhere in the Windows system, I suspect.
Also, are there drivers that need to be installed in Windows (as you know, on a Mac they are plug and play)?
Additionally, here are a bunch of FAQ's that may be helpful:

  • Migration Assistant won't connect to Time Capsule

I just got my MacBook Pro back from the Apple Store after repairs were done. The hard disk was wiped with Snow Leopard reinstalled. I had run backups to a Time Capsule, but did not reload all my data during the initial startup, thinking I would use Migration Assistant later.
Now I'm trying to use MA, but it won't connect to my Time Capsule. The first times I tried it over WIFI, but it seemed to hang when the percentages were being calculated for the various categories of data. Now I'm trying with an ethernet connection, and MA seems to hang when its connecting.
Does anyone have any ideas of how I can recover my data and install it again on my MBP?
Was thinking of updating to Mavericks while I was at it, but should I fix the backup problem first?
    Thanks for any ideas,
    Jon

I read somewhere else that I should not try to backup my new installation to TC because of the risk it will affect my previous store on it.
When I loaded Mountain Lion and later Mavericks, I continued to use the same backup with no problems.
TC does not appear in the list of drives. Is that a problem?
Ignore the Disk Utility idea. My brain wasn't working right. Network attached storage won't show up in Disk Utility.
Will the computer back up to the Time Capsule? If so, it could be Migration Assistant that isn't working correctly.
    See A5.

  • New non-apple modem/router can't find old Time Capsule

I've been using a Time Capsule for both backup and wifi for years. But now I have a brand new modem/router (non-apple). I wanted to turn off the wifi on the Time Capsule and just use it for backup. I found instructions on how to do that and did it, but when I went to update to the new settings there was an error and now my system cannot find the Time Capsule, even though it is plugged in, connected and showing a steady green light. The TC is connected to the modem via ethernet and did show up long enough for me to change the settings so I'm confident I have the right physical setup. I've tried restarting both my computer and the TC, but Airport Utility still can't detect a device. What do I do now?
    Thanks!

Full factory reset on the TC..
Then plug into it directly with ethernet and do the configuration.. bridge mode.. off wireless if you want.. although there is nothing wrong with still running the wireless and the 5ghz is much faster than using wifi usually on a Mac at least from close range. Update and plug the TC back into the modem.. this is usually necessary whenever you move things around.
    The Factory Reset.
    Power down the TC.
Hold in reset. and keep holding it in. Be Gentle! It is a tiny surface mount switch with a plastic lever.. Attempting to push it out the other side of the TC will not make the switch turn on better.
(I fix TC and have several reset levers bent over and jammed or broken off).
Power on the TC.. remember with the reset held in.. this needs three arms.. a friend or power switch you can get to with your feet..
Keep holding in reset for about 10sec until the front LED flashes rapidly.
Release reset and wait .. the boot will be slow as it deletes previous setting.. only from router side and pulls out the factory defaults. No files are deleted on the hard disk.. but the name of the TC may change.

  • Photosmart 6520 won't connect via Time Capsule

Just bought a Photosmart 6520 printer. I have tried to connect it to my wireless network via Time Capsule but the printer thinks MAC address filtering is turned on so is unable to connect. I have checked using Airport utility to make sure MAC address filtering is turned off, which it is, and all other wireless devices connect without any problem. If I move the printer around the house I can connect via an Airport Express but I don't want the printer upstairs. Seems to be a communication problem between the printer and Time Capsule. I have updated the Firmware on the Time Capsule
    Any one any ideas please?

    Hello Frustrated61,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I suggest that we restore the Network defaults from the printer menu.
I have also located a document on when the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.  This will give you instructions on how to set a static IP address.
I have also located an Apple document that gives instructions on how to Set up a printer connected to a Time Capsule or AirPort base station.

  • Can i connect my time capsule to my hdtv for use as an extra display for my mac book pro?

I want to use my hdtv as a display wirelessly.  Can one connect their time capsule to the tv?

    1. Can my TC handle "dual band" wifi or not? As it's 3 years old, I'm not sure the spec is sufficient.
They have been dual band since gen2.. yours is gen4 or at worst gen3.
    2. Is the TC likely to provide better performance than the BT Home Hub router, as the Apple store suggest?
Impossible to say.. but easy to test.. simply plug the TC into the BT router in bridge mode and use it with setup to create a wireless network.. that is the way I would suggest anyway.
    3. Will the BT wifi extender still work if the TC is the main router? BT aren't sure, hence asking here.  "Trial and error" will take hours and because of the wifi issues in my house, can be frustrating.
Sorry this is out of my perview.. I can suggest it will be poor.. apple do not use standard settings for extend wireless.. and if it is universal repeater they also behave poorly.. Have you thought of using EOP adapters.. very popular in the UK and tend to work much better than wireless.
    4. Would the BT wifi extender communciate with the TC or the BT Home Hub router?
As suggested above.. leave the BT as the main router and plug the TC bridged into it.. you can then use both..
simply set the wireless names different and keep the channels apart.
    For 2.4ghz there are only 3 non-overlapping channels.. 1, 6, 11 or 13 as alternative in UK.
For 5ghz there are lots more but the lower channels work better.. so 36-48 depending on regs in the UK.

  • Adsl connection with time capsule

Hi all, I want to know if feasible connect my time capsule to Internet thru ADSL modem, seems is not capable to recognise my USB modem (ZTEMF180)...how can i do to fix this trouble?

The Time Capsule can only connect to a modem using an Ethernet connection. Connect from the modem to the WAN port on the Time Capsule using a standard Ethernet cable of any length that you want.

  • Mac fails to connect to non-Apple wireless network (& changing channel?)

[sorry to post this in two forums - I think I posted it in the wrong one before]
I have a wireless network set up from a Netgear wireless router. My Windows XP computer automatically connects to the network every time. But my Mac (OS X 10.4.11) only connects about 50% of the time. The rest of the time it says "None of your trusted wireless networks could be found." Then when I click the airport icon in top right and select the network from the list, it says "There was an error joing the Airport network [network name]." When I click "Try again" a few times, it sometimes eventually connects, but other times it fails repeatedly. It is completely unpredictable.
I have been looking for solutions on the internet. Lots of other people have problems connecting Macs to non-Apple wireless networks. But no one else seems to have this exact problem: my Mac connects some of the time, but not all. Anyone have any suggestions?
(One idea I found was to change the channel that the Mac tries to use. How do I do this? I can't find "channel" anywhere under System Preferences - Network - Airport.)
All OSs are fully updated, so that is not the problem.

I travel extensively, and both my I-Mac G5 and Intel MacBook are very inconsistent in this regard. I do not think it is a router issue given the variety of networks I try to access. Additionally frustrating once a connection is made is that Internet Connect or Network Status will say I am connected to the Internet via Airport, yet Safari and Mail say I am not connected to the Internet.
Network Diagnostics has never had an answer. More often than not i end up using my cellular card. but the Mac often has issues with that too... sporadic like first poster describes.

  • Why does my connection to Apple store constantly fail even though I have good internet connectivity to all non-apple apps?

    Hi.
All of a sudden my IOS devices are having difficulty accessing all of my Apple-store controlled apps and purchases when using my home network, even though it is a really fast network and my other devices work perfectly. Spotify, YouTube and Netflix and all apps that don't rely on Apple purchases are working perfectly on my iPad and ipod, and I have fast internet speed and perfect connectivity on all my other devices.
But when I go to Newsstand or iTunes Store for example I get the message 'can't connect to Apple server' or 'you are not connected to wifi' even though all non-Apple apps are connecting perfectly on the same device. I have tried all the usual reboot, reset solutions and nothing seems to resolve this. My software is up to date. My iPod and iPad are working perfectly when I use another network. My home network is working perfectly for everything else.
    Any ideas?

Sorry for bad English and typos, I wrote it quickly.

Impossible, there are zero, as in none, zip, nadda viruses for OS X. If you have viruses on it they are for MS Windows and will not affect OS X. I suspect the hard disk has crashed, if you have backup then it's not a big deal to have it changed, just take it into your local Apple Store or AASP for service. If you have not been backing it up you may be in for a painful lesson on why backup is critical.
