  • Pix and Videos gone after update - need help please.

    Hi all,
I upgraded to the new OS2 and loved it... no problems there.  When I tried to connect and pull pictures off via my PC, I got a message Blackberry Desktop software could not connect.  I tried it multiple times after restarting the Playbook but would not connect.  It connected and advised I needed to upgrade my software which I did, but when I started the Playbook after the install it was like it was brandnew out of the box.  Had to go through the tutorial and then I was shocked to find all my pictures and videos were gone.  I don'r care about the videos but had some really important (to me at least) pictures I wanted off of it.
Sooooo.... any chance of recovering those or does the updates just "Blow" everything away?  I will never use my Playbook to take any pictures or video of anything again and guess I learned a painful lesson.
Thanks for ANY input you might be able to provide.

Same thing happened to me. RIM <Inappropriate Content Removed>
    this one up.

  • PlayBook Updated To Version 2.0.1.358 and all pictures and videos gone

I updated to 2.0.1.358 when I connected my playbook to my computer. It offered the update when I connected it to download my pictures. It took about 1 hours to complete. When completed, the playbook was wiped.  Any way to get my files back from the playbook.  My big mistake not to backup 1st.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I am going to guess you were on desktop manager 6. The so called update feature was included to reload the OS if the playbook was not booted up yet and there was no warning in it. I wiped my own as well before. There is no way to ge the files back. I now use wifi file sharing or an online backup such as box or drop box to sync pics because of this.

  • Bloggie lost all pictures and video taken before new year.

Somehow, the bloggie lost all pictures and video I have taken before Jan 1, 2011. I know I did not delete any of pictures on this camera, but the crossover of the Jan 1, 2011 seems remove all old pictures. Why? It must be a software bug or something.
I bought my bloggie from HBC Canada, The Bay, in December, 2010.
    My Bloggie has 8GB memory.
Any idea? Do you have the same problem with your Sony Bloggie?

Check to see if you have the full space available on the bloggie - if they really are completely missing then there are many 3rd party file recovery programs out there, some free, that can be used to recover accidentally deleted or corrupted files. In this circumstance you also have to be very careful - to increase the likelihood of being able to recover the photos and video after they have been deleted don't save any new photos, files or data to your bloggie until you've made the recovery attempt.

    Yes.

  • How do I find all pictures and videos that are in email files?

I am trying to find and extract all pictures and videos that people have sent me in emails (and in other parts of the computer but not in the pictures area) over the years to copy them into my aperture collection.  Does anyone know how to do that.  I use Outlook 2011.  X1 on the PC can do this with a preview of the pictures so you can remove all small gifs etc.
    Thanks!

You'll have to search the web and see if anyone's offering the videos you want. Videos from the 80s are unlikely to be legally available, but you could get lucky.
BTW, for future questions, try posting in the iTunes for Windows forum. You'll be more likely to get help there than you will here in the iTunes for Mac forum.

  • Updated iPad2 to iOS 6 and lost all pictures and videos

I updated my roomate's iPad 2 days ago, following the instructions of a friend with years of Apple experience.
He explained that I would need to install iTunes on my laptop (a newer Asus running Win7) and that just plugging the iPad in would start an automatic process of backing up and updating.
Being from the PC world, I wanted to make sure we would be safe. I asked if I needed to copy pictures to my laptop or pc first, and he said that iTunes defaults to backing up first, then running the update.
Of course this makes sense, but erring on caution, I was very specific in wanting to make absolutely sure.
So I get the laptop ready. I plug in the iPad, it's immediately discovered and a window pops up saying there is an update for the iPad, and would I like to update now.
I pressed the button yes, or ok, I don't remember exactly what the vernacular was.
The lengthy process began.... with a status bar and activity..... took about 20 minutes.
After it was done, it said so. I don't remember the dialog box wording at that point exactly.
I pushed the home button on the iPad and it had the normal grey lock screen, opened it, and all of her apps were there, her email showed she had email,
but when i looked in the pictures folder, it was empty.
Thought perhaps they would appear later from iTunes. ( I didn't know at this point that she had never backed up or used iTunes for anything other than the initial activation and for her old iPhone that died several months ago)
Called my Apple friend, he said maybe I unplugged the iPad before it was able to restore things to the iPad.
So I started iTunes, attached the iPad , right clicked on "Tiffany's ipad" and went into the Backup section. There it says that the iPad was never backed up on this computer in bold text. And the option to restore from backup is grayed out.
I call my expert friend again. He has me look for backup files on the laptop, utilizing an application called 'iExplore'. went to 'device' section and there is a box that will show all backup files found on the pc. That box was empty.
What's tragic, is, this poor lady, unbeknownst to me, had been using her iPad as a picture and video dump for ALL of her child's pictures and vids for over a year. Without telling me. She is not a technical person.
Had I known this, I would have backed it up manually myself, before the update and all along. I would have made her do it. But I had no idea. I assumed she was plugging it in to her Dell Laptop.. but she never did.
I've run 2 'recovery' programs I got from online that scan for deleted files, but they don't show any of the hundreds of pictures and videos she had, Im sure because it was wiped, not deleted.
All attempts to locate a large backup file on my laptop have come up empty.
She is extremely and unbelievably broken up about this, as am I. I'm furious with Apple for not making the BACKUP stage of the process more tenacious, and with more pop up warnings so that this kind of thing cannot happen. Had I seen that, I would have used an application to MANUALLY copy her stuff.... even though at the time I had NO IDEA she was using her iPad as her ONLY repository for all of her precious media.
Folks, this is a life changing horror for her, and me. I love this woman's little boy as my own, and as a single mom, she was depending on me as a friend in this matter. If I cannot retrieve these images and vids, I fear she will never forgive me, as I'm the 'tech guy' who always has had the answers for everything in the past, and failed her on the most important tech issue in her life, her little boy's life in pictures.
Please, where can I send this iPad for forensic recovery of these images.
I've powered the iPad down until further notice to avoid writing additionally on the internal flash memory.
    Thanks,
    Lu Johnson

Doesn't sound like you have iCloud? If not, then no, you are out of luck....

When you restore an iPhone the first step is a backup of the phone. She should be able to restore that backup.
Connect the phone to the computer, click on its name in iTunes, and click "Restore backup".
If she had backed up her phone to a different computer the pictures would be in the backup on that computer. If she had turned on iCloud backup on the phone the pictures would be in the iCloud backup. If she had enabled Photo Stream on the iPhone the images would be in Photo Stream. If she had transferred the photos and video to her computer as you would with any digital camera by connecting the phone to a computer and importing the images and video they would be on that computer. If she did none of these things and there is a problem with the backup that was made automatically when she did the Restore then they are lost.

  • Photos and videos gone after ios5 update

After updating to ios 5 and doing a restore from my backup all my videos and photos that I took using the ipad are gone from my ipad. I did a full backup before starting the new update so I expected they would be there. Maybe I'm missing something.

I found this and did it myself and it worked perfectly!

  • All my songs and videos gone after app transfer to my laptop (iOS 5.0)

All my songs (about 1800 songs/12GB) and videos (10gb) have disappeared while two of my apps, Asphalt 6 and Real Racing 2 were being transferred from my iPod to my laptop. I guess they were being transferred since they have been updated and I haven't synced my ipod into my laptop for a while. But today while it was trasferring, it said that I'm running out of storage continuously and later on I saw that the transfer was done, but my songs and videos were gone! And my last backup was like when the iOS first came out, so it would mean nothing to restore from backup right now.
I can see all of the songs and videos that were on the iPod still on iTunes, but when i click on them, it shows the exclamation mark which means that they have been disappeared or something... Any help please?

The storage space taken up by "Other" can be made up of, notes or files of any kind you've added to the iPod whilst using it as a hard disk or album artwork. Or sometimes when the iPod data base has become corrupt.
There will always be a few MBs of used space under "other" but if it's in GBs it's unusually large. This often happens when the iPod data base becomes corrupt.
If the iPod is enabled for disk use, you can look at the folders on the iPod through Explorer or Finder (on a Mac) and delete anything you don't want.
If it's a corruption of the iPod database (as seems likely here) it will probably need to be restored, see how to restore the iPod to factory settings which will erase the iPods contents and reclaim the used space.
Then reload the music from iTunes.

  • Delete all pictures and videos after the restart iPhone

    I used various iPhone 3G 8 Gb, 3G 16Gb. Now 3Gs 16Gb. It had all the firmware. Now 3.1.3.
And all had the same problem - after restart iPhone all the photos taken on the iPhone, from the album disappeared.
Why is this and how to fix it?

For what completely insane reason would someone attempt an iOS updare (or any operating system update) without first ensuring all their media and other important data was backed up?
Pictures taken with the iPhone are designed to be regularly copied off to a computer.  Apple even provides PhotoStream to sync them to multiple other devices as well as including them in the backup done via iTunes or iCloud.
If you elected to not take advantage of the multiple ways of saving the date before updating iOS and it is now lost, tough luck.

If you have a current backup you can restore your phone to that backup.   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

  • Help!! All Photos and videos gone

I have an iphone 4 and recently, the speaker stopped working so I went to the shop and they told me to restore my phone to it's factory settings and then put everything back on again.  I backed up my phone on itunes on my computer but when I went to put everything back on, it didn't put on any of my photos and videos... Also my previous messages were all gone... Is there any way I can get these back??? Please help!!

The first step in the upgrade process is a backup.
Did iTunes not create a new backup when you first connected it?
You really should be syncing your device and copying pictures off of it on a regular basis.
Starting an upgrade without first syncing and copying the pictures off is not a bright idea.
At this point, you only option is to restore.
Also, in the future, ensure your laptop is plugged into external power before starting upgrades.
