All's well for my classic 80GB after 7.71 update last night

I was having the same problems many others had described. The original update to 7.7 wiped most of my music, was taking up to one hour to recognize my ipod, etc. I did a full restore and took my time about loading my roughly 9000 songs and 500 podcasts and videos back on, removed the mobile device helpers and was down to where my iPod was available after about 20 minutes after connecting.
After last night's update, my iPod is being recognized in the (roughly) 1 minute I had always experienced previously. All music and casts are intact.
Glad it all got worked out. I will be very leery of updates in the future though and will alwys keep automatic updating turned off from here on out. I had expected this to go on much longer from what I had gathered about previous problems with 'fixing' a buggy version so I guess Apple should be applauded for being fairly prompt. It was two weeks ago today that 7.7 first killed my iPod.
For there still to have been no 'official' word direct from Apple still ***** though. Lord knows they have everyone's email address and could have at least sent out an "Ooops, we goofed, we're fixing it" kind of notice. After all, I have had an ad for a new Apple product or service direct from Apple at least once every 2-3 days for weeks now. I've got two in my inbox right this minute since clearing it out 9 hours ago.
Thanks for fixing it Apple, but shame on you for being so uncommunicative.

That's good news!
I agree, the silence was deafening.

my iPad has been stuck on the apple log for almost 10 hrs after trying to update to ios 8, how can this be fixed?

Try reset iPad and continue with update.
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: Data will not be affected.

my iPad has been stuck on the apple loge for almost 10 hrs after trying to update, how can this be fixed?

You may have to restore your iPad using Recovery mode, but try a reset first. Hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen. Let go of the buttons when you see the logo. This takes about 10-15 seconds.
IF the update will not complete or you see the connect to iTunes message on the screen, you have to restore your iPad.
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • Wont boot after update last night *FIXED*

After I installed the latest update last night (3/23/13) my phone just sits at that red looking eye. There's animations like the lightning moving around, but wont actually boot. I've tried soft rebooting and the recovery boot, but still nothing. Looks like I'm going to have to take it back to the store and lose all my information. Absolutely ridiculous!
Well, for some reason I cant reply to threads, so Im updating the solution here.
Took the phone to the store and the Tech Specialist said the reason it was hanging up is because I have my phone encrypted when you shut it off. SO, basically if you have your phone pass worded, you have to factory reset your phone and lose all of your data. And, as an added bonus, you wont be able to access your microSD card either, since it is encrypted! The card thinks your connecting it to a different device, and even after entering your password you still cant access it. Wonderful! The only way for the card to recognize your factory reset phone is to reformat it. Brilliant! *** is wrong with the eggheads at Google??? I was the 5th person to goto the store with this issue, and the store had only been open 30 min. NOTE TO VERIZON! PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL OR OTHER MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS REGARDING THIS CLUSTER! This was a huge waste of time, AND data loss!!!!!

        Happy day DMONIC,
I know that it has been a few days since your device has been rebooting. budone gave an excellent recommendation. May I ask have you tried a factory reset yet? I know you may be concerned about your personal info. The great news is that your contacts and calendar entries are safely backed up on your Gmail account. I would suggest verifying that you info is preserved online beofre doing the reset. If you have already resolved this issue or need additional assistance then please advise, just in case more help is needed.
    Thank you...

  • Wifi trouble immediately after installing the 4.1 update last night

I've had flawless operation of my iPod Touch 3rd generation for a long time, including after the 4.0 update. Since updating to 4.1 last night, I've had nothing but continuous Wifi problems. Upon a fresh reboot, the Wifi will work great. Then after not using the iPod for some period of time (can be as short as a few minutes) when I go back to use the iPod, the Wifi no longer works. Wifi remains connected, and the blue Wifi icon glows with a strong signal strength. Once I initiate something that accesses online data, the gray "rotating circle" turns next to the blue Wifi signal icon - and the gray circle turns, turns, and turns some more. There is no data throughput at all. My Wifi at home is fine. While the iPod is in never-never land, I can freely browse the web on my laptop using Wifi. Online speed tests show me getting over 11 MB / sec on my cable modem. I have to go into the Wifi settings and say "forget this network" and then redo the connection. It will work again for a short time. I've done the "forget this network" and then also the reset network settings, but it failed again within an hour. Nothing has changed on my network side. Anyone else having Wifi problems after the 4.1 update last night?

I've been having the same issues for the past week since downloading latest version. My Safari connections have been very erratic especially every evening from around 930-1100 pm the connection becomes even more unpredictable, I have to keep switching my iTouch on and off to regain access then by 11 pm that's it, end of service! And up pops a message that the safari server is no longer responding! I notice the following morning that emails sent around 1030 pm have finally downloaded around 130 am, so this must be around the time the server reactivates. Has someone set up the Safari server on a timer for those using the iTouch? My laptop connections work fine, so it's not my router or ISP connections. This is getting really annoying!

  • Music not playing after IDT update last night (HP automated update) How can I roll the patch back?

I was notified of an HP update last night.  After the update completed, Itunes/MS media player/You-Tube....applications are unable to play.  Checked Installed programs and the only update listed was one for IDT drivers.  How can I roll back to the previous version?
    This question was solved.

I had the same issue, after reading several other posts with the same issue, I restored to before Oct 29th. Now my sound works just fine and my games that were also going hinky started to work as well.
It would be nice if HP fixed this issue before sending up another update. It is very annoying to have undo what they did so my computer works correctly.

  • My iphone 5 will not turn on after iOS 7.1.1 update last night

I have tried to push and hold top button & home button at the same time. The phone just seems dead. It was charging all night and shouldn't be a battery problem.

I first tried to update last night when I got home from work. It told me it couldn't update unless I had 50% or more battery life or be pluged in. So I waited until I went to bed and pluged it in to charge overnight (like I always do) and set it to update, figuring by the morning it would be finished. When I woke up this morning it was dead. I've tried plugging it into different chargers (car, work, home) but I get nothing.
I've tried searching the internet for other sites for help, but I haven't come up with anything useful. I was hoping I could get some help here before I went to the Apple store after work.

  • After firefox update last night to 36.0.4, it is not starting?

After firefox update last night to 36.0.4. I cannot open Firefox. It says Firefox is already running, but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open.
I try to close it under task manager, it is not listed under process but under details - Cannot end task, as it says access is denied.
I try to look for help on the net. It says to delete the file PARENT.LOCK, It says action cannot be complete as the file is open in Firefox.
I try to shut down my computer, even log out on my current user but cannot delete the file Parent.lock.
    I am using a win 8.0
The easiest way is to uninstall and to install a fresh application, but will this wipe out all my bookmarks etc....
    Thanks,
    Coco

    Hi Coco,
Thank you for your question, since the parent.lock file cannot be removed it is possible to create a new profile:

  • I cant get my iphone to show up in my itunes...i downloaded the update last night and now it will not sync at all

I cant get my iphone to show up in my itunes.  I downloaded the new update last night and I havent been able to sync it since

See section 5 of TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows.
If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Difficulty after installing update last night

Received our imac last Monday. Installed update last night. Internet is ridiculously slow now. Help?

Steve, thanks for your suggestions. In the future I will do so. My husband called Apple yesterday afternoon, where the problem was stumping everyone as the update did not have anything to do with Safari. Went to a higher level programmer, they had my husband remove and reinstall Safari. When I got home, I tried the internet on our old mini-laptop. Still horrible speed, but shouldn't have been affected by the iMac update. Called our ISP and there appears to be a problem with our modem or connection. Too many wireless items on our modem appears to be an issue! Anyone have suggestions on a modem which can handle about 7 wireless items (2 x ps3, 2 x ds, 2 computers and a wii)?
So happy that it was just a coincidence that the problem cropped up after the update. Being a 1 week iMac user had us concerned we'd ruined it!
