Allow the user to add multiple email addresses in Email ID Field

In my jsp page, the funtionality i need to enhance is to allow the user to enter multiple email addresses in the "To" field of my Email A friend Task...right now it allows only one email id to be input by the user
Can anyone suggest me how to achieve it using javascript /jstl

one more alternative is u can use : StringTokenizer class.

Is there a way to make a form that allows the user to select multiple answers from a dropdown?

Hi,
I work for a school that is building a form right now, and one thing we would like to do is have a list of teachers that can be selected from a drop down menu, effectively allowing the user to choose four or five from a list of twelve. Is there a way to do this? I see checkboxes, but that doesn't seem like a good answer for something that has twelve choices. I rolled through the other examples, and they all were single choice.

Thanks for responding. I've added the list box, but I'm not sure how to select two options that aren't right on top of each other. Is it possible to add check boxes? I've also added a scroll bar to make it easier to browse. I've included a screenshot to show what it looks like.

Only allow the user to add simple files to a page

I know I can restrict what items that can be added to the page at the page group level but is it possible to do it at page level?
I'm using portal 10.1.2.

Not according to the documentation. You could re-order your list of item types, placing the one(s) you want used at the top. That may reduce the number of miss-typed items placed on the page. Good luck!

Is there a feature that allows the user to add another open field while completing a form? If I create one field to enter your child's name and social, is there an "add" button to create another field if the user has more than one child?

JFileChooser, how can you allow the user to select MORE than 1 file?

Hello everyone.
I want to allow the user to select multiple files from a directory, not just 1, but not just the whole directory.
Currently I see these 2 options from looking at the sun's JFileChooser demo:

I'm working on JSP that allows the user in this case to add a new restaurant to the database. I have 2 database tables, one being RestaurantTable and containing the columns:
Id (Restaurant Id) type: int (primary key)
Name (Restaurant Name) type: varchar
Address (Restaurant Address) type: varchar
PhoneNumber (Restaurant Phone Number) type: varchar
Category (Type of Restaurant) type: varchar
and the other being Rank and containing the columns:
Value (Restaurant rank number) type: float
Id (Restaurant Id same as in the RestaurantTable) type: varchar
Since all of my restaurants which are already in the database have ideas, if a user were to add a restaurant I want my JSP to give it the next Id that follows. For that I have created a SQL sequence which is rest_id_seq.
There error I'm getting is : Invalid column type
I understand that the value for Id must be an integer because that is what I defined it as when I created my table, but I don't understand anyother way to do it then to put the sequence in as it's value.
I'm really confused as to what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Reader 9 won't allow the user to email back a pdf

I created a fillable pdf form yesterday that includes a submit email button. I worked around the fact that it wanted to send an xml file instead of a pdf file. It works fine in pre Reader 9 versions but Reader 9 wants to send back a data file not the actual pdf file. Any ideas as to how to work around this issue? I've already changed

to
<submit format="pdf" textEncoding="UTF-8" target="mailto":/>
which worked out fine until I tested it in Reader 9

Have you tired the Acrobat menu items "Advanced => Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader"?
This action will allow the user with Adobe Reader save the filled in form, and the ability to save the completed form is needed to be able to email the completed form.

Can I create a fillable PDF that allows the user to attach a file to the submitted form?

There are suggestions in the Help documentation and on this site that indicate it is possible to attach files to a fillable PDF form that is being submitted. But I do not see any instructions for adding this functionality to a form. I am using Acrobat 9 Pro to create my form. I have a Submit button with an Action/Menu Item/Submit a form option, and the URL link for the submission is a local coldfusion file with a #FDF suffix. The export format is HTML. The form also contains a hidden EMAILTO field, with an Options/DefaultValue option identifying the recipient's email address. (I'm guessing the local cfm file uses this field.) There is also a hidden URL field in the form, and its Options/DefaultValue specifies the URL of the fillable form itself. (Perhaps the local cfm file uses this field too.)
How can I add functionality to this form, using Adobe/PDF, to allow the user who submits the form to attach a file to the submission?

You have to first configure a text field so it can be used for file selection. You do this on the Options tab of the field properties dialog. In order to select the corresponding check box, make sure only the "Scroll long text" option is selected.
You then can set up a button that has the following JavaScript attached to the Mouse Up event:
// Mouse Up script for button
getField("upload_text_field").browseForFileToSubmit();
Replace "upload_text_field" with the actual name of the file selection text field.

Using a "Button" to submit the user entered data as a PDF into Email

I have created a form in which the user fills out the form and clicks a "Button" to submit the data via PDF(attached to an email) to a specific email address (mailto:[email protected]). When I email the blank to coworkers it does not allow the functon to work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Also if you have the time is there a way to define the order of data when user's submit via xml?

Checking for a value in a field within a subform before allowing a user to add a new Instance

Form setup:
Page name = Page1
1st Subform within Page1 = Info (set to flowed)
Objects within Info subform: Name (textfield) and Email (textfield)
I also have a 2nd subform within Page 1 which contains an add instance button
What I'm trying to do:
1. The user needs to enter their Name and Email address then click "Add Instance button" to create a new instance of the Info subform : _Info.addInstance(1);
2. If the user fails to enter an email address, I want there to be a mesage box that infos the user that an email address is required before he/she can create a new instance. Note: It would also be nice if the cursor is Set to foucs on the email field within that particular subform instance.
3. As long as the user tries to continue adding an instance, he/she will be denied if they do not enter an email in that instance
4. If the user includes an email address in that instance, then the script will create add a new isntance
5. The process should continue in this manner for each each click of the add instance button
I presume there nees to be a loop and perhaps a somExpression scipt, but I'm not sure.
Here's what i have so far (see below)....The script works for the first instance on the page, but it doesn't prevent new instances from being created when the email field in that "current instance" is empty. I want it to prevent the user from adding new instances if the email field is balnk in that "current instance". So, I guess I'm not sure how ot test a field in the current instance in a repeating subform.

I think you can acheive what you want just by adding "lastRow.presence = "hidden";" when you do the addInstance, so it now looks like;

So whenever you add a row the previous one is hidden?
For your second issue, if you could have another button on your form, you could ask the user for a password and if they enter it correctly then show for the Info subforms, so;

Allow the user to control the width of the edit forum post input box

I would like to control the width of of the edit-forum post input box. This could be:
automatically adjust the width of the box so that the box doesn't run off the right edge of the window.
have a user global preference to set the preferred width
at least, allow the user to change the width via the change size icon. The three horizontal bars at the lower left of the input box. You can adjust the vertical dimension, but not the horizontal. TenFourFox 4.0.1. This is probably being blocked for some obscure reason.
Here is an example of an over extended right margin:
Curiously enough, the "software" let's me adjust the width & height of the add reason to edit text, but not adjust the width of the more important edit text box.

This may have been a post in the lounge.
It didn't actually try it at the time but have played with it since and have not seen it.
Maybe it is something they "Fixed" in both senses of the word.

How can I allow the user to retake a quiz from the middle of it in Captivate 7?

Hello Captivaters,
I would like to force the learner to pass a quiz before he can continue on with the training. If he doesn't pass the quiz, he will need to go back and take it again. The "retake" button allows him to do this, but I will actually like to have 4-5 of these "quiz checkpoints" in the eLearning -- each separated with presentation material -- so that the user proves he understands the material before advancing.
Therefore I would like to create my own "retake" button at the end of every "quiz checkpoint" that takes the learner back to the first question of that checkpoint (not to the first question in the training). So far, I have been able to create a button that appears after he gets a certain amount correct to allow him to continue, and I want to create a button that appears that takes him back to the first question in the checkpoint if does not get the required amount correct and retake those questions. The first part is easy, but I also need to add the function or reassign some variable to allow the user to retake the quiz. I hope I am making sense.. Any help would be much appreciated!

Here is the issue now. I guess it's not a huge problem, it's just if I can't find a better way, what I need to do will take a lot of time.
Like I mentioned before, I created this "results" slide that on enter either shows a "congrats" button or a "retry" button, depending on whether or not the user passed the quiz. I have copied this slide and pasted it behind all of the other sub-quizzes in the training, but when I do that, of course the link between the buttons and the conditional advanced action break.
As you know, when you duplicate a slide, all of the names of the objects on that slide are "refreshed" and are replaced with new generic names because you are in fact creating new objects as well. This means that I need to rename all of the objects on that slide (even though its a duplicate) and then replace all of the "old names" in the advanced action with these new object names.. Is there a faster way to do that?

I fixed the To: autofilling incorrectly by deleting my email address from the Previous Recipients List, but is there a way to stop that from coming up on emails that I receive?

Have you checked your Mac address book? If your email is saved somewhere in your address book with the name "Holidays in the United States" it might be adding the name automatically in Mac Mail.
Alternatively, try this:
Delete an Email Address from Auto-Complete in Mac OS X Mail
To remove an email address from the auto-complete list in Mac OS X Mail:
Start typing the recipient's address or name in a new message.
Select the desired address from the auto-complete list as if you'd compose an email to them.
Click the small down arrow in the recipient.
Select Remove from Previous Recipients List from the menu.
You can also search for the unwanted address directly in the previous recipients list:
Select Window | Previous Recipients from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
Highlight the address you want to remove.You can highlight multiple addresses by holding down the Command key.
Click Remove from List.

How can I allow the user to pause the audio of a slide (and restart it) before continuing on to the

Most of my slides have a combination of test/graphics and voiceover. I would like to allow the user to pause, resume, and replay the audio of each slide. I know, as a learner, I sometimes need to go back and hear something again -- or pause until a distraction has passed.
How can I tie audio to a playbar or set of buttons? I know if it's video, it can be done. How do I give them control of the audio?
I am in Captivate 7. My files are .mp3 files.

You cannot add extra buttons to the playbar but you could add a Replay button to the slide and have this button execute a Standard Advanced action with a Jump to Slide action that points to the same slide you are currently on. This should effectively jump your user back to the beginning of the same slide.
