Alternate Access Mapping not working for Zone : Intranet

One of our client want to set Alternate Access Mappint (intranet) with url "intranet.theirDomain.com" with local IP address.
is it possible?
subsequest to my previous question (
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/3f39711e-301a-40e8-aa7a-855fa2c268b1/alternate-access-mapping-not-working?forum=sharepointadmin )
I want to ask one more question
Can we configure "intranet.theirDomain.com" with local IP address for any other zone?
or
If there is ".com" within the url then it can't be configured for InTRAnet?
Thanks
S H A J A N

The names for the zones don't matter. You could use the 'extranet' zone for another intranet name if you wanted, the names are just to make it a bit more friendly for beginners.
What you describe sounds routine, you create a web application with a name, then use an AAM to allow users to access it with a more friendly name. Frequently you end up creating
http://intranet.domain.com and
http://intranet as an AAM, or vice versa.
You can use .com for an intranet site, you would need to add the site as an A Host record in your DNS server so that traffic is sent to your internal server rather than out into the wider world.

• Alternate Access Mapping not working

I am trying to configure alternate access mapping in sp2013.
My default url for site is https://intranet
My client has given a url https://intranet.theirDomain.com
When I ping "intranet.theirDomain.com" on their local machine it is returning IP: 192.168.0.87
When I ping "intranet", it is giving IP: 192.168.0.86
I have edited the Public Zone URL as follows
Default: https://intranet
Intranet: https://intranet.theirDomain.com
In IIS the following bindings are there.
https intranet                            443     *
https intranet.theirDomain.com 443     *
But still https://intranet.theirDomain.com is not working
https://intranet is working.
I hope all are configured correctly.
Or doing any wrong? please guide me.
S H A J A N

It sounds like the 'intranet' A record in the theirDomain.com zone isn't pointed at the correct IP address (192.168.0.86).

• Alternative Access Mapping not working "You're not connected to a network"

Hi *,
i want to set up alternate access mapping in my sharepoint 2013 development environment.
My SharePoint is reachable through http://sp2013.
I created a second web application with listens on port 8080. When i open http://sp2013:8080 everything works fine and i can see my root site collection.
Next i added through "Add internal Urls" a new url -> http://sp2013test to the default zone.
Next i edited the bindings in the iss application for this web application and added http://sp2013test listening to port 80:
But i does not work! I get the message "You’re not connected to a network" from the ie.
I dont want have to call my WebApps through ports. I want to have WebApplication which i can call through clear names like http://customerWebApp1, http://customer2WebApp. All via Port 80.
Whats wrong here?

Hi Bob,
For you issue, try to map web application URLs to the local loopback address. For that you need to update host file at the path:(C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts)
Here is a link about Setup Multiple SharePoint Web Applications on Port 80 with Https Binding on Port 443, you can use as a reference:

• Alternate Access Mappings - not working

I have an internal site http://km-resource
I want to add an alternate access mapping as http://km-test.
When I when to http://km-test, I got an error of page cannot display.
Do you need to have full internet address such as
http://www.km-resource.com in order for alternate access mapping work? Please advise.
Many thanks.

The issue is your PC's browser isn't resolving the IP address of km-test.
If you are just testing you ...could... alter your PC's HOSTS file found in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
Add a line like the following:
192.168.1.55 km-test
192.168.1.54 km-resource
Use whatever the web server's front end IP address is on the NIC for the HOSTS ip address to km-test. If your test machine is windows 8 then to edit your HOSTS file you may need to drag and drop it to your desktop first, edit it, save it,
then drag it back to the /etc/ folder.
Also do like some others have said and add the host header for km-test in IIS.
You could also add an entry on your network load balancer to do the same redirection to km-test for internal network users.
But adding a DNS entry on your DNS server to resolve km-test to the web server's IP address is the best and recommended way internally for production.

• MODIFY and SAVE_TRANSACTION not working for ZONE BO

Hi
I am trying to add/delete location in transportation zone through MODIFY and SAVE_TRANSACTION but the update is not happening in database. I have done deletions and additions in other business objects but for transportation zone it is not working properly. Is something wrong with BO configuration ?
Procedure that I am following for deletion of zone:
1. Read Zone with querybyelements method
2. Read locations for this zone using retrieve_by_association method in edit mode
3. Fill modification table with deletion indicator and appropriate values for location
4. Call method Modify and then save_transaction.
I followed similar procedure for adding/deleting region in transportation zone but this also doesn't work.
Thanks
Anuraag

Hi Anuraag,
In TM you should open the transaction /SCMTMS/ZONE. Here you select the zone you would like to modify and you execute the changes you would like to make.

• Airport time access control not working for iPhones-

Hi,
I use a 3rd generation Airport Extreme base for my WiFi hme network.
For parental control, I'd like to allow one iPhone and iMac to be connected only for some hours of the day.
So I have activated the timed access control and entered the relevant MAC addresses and the time to be connected.
It seems that the iMac is well restricted as it should, but the iPhone has no limitation…
Why is it not effective for the iPhone ? The iPhone MAC address (Wi-Fi Address) doen't work in this case ?
(I have Lion up to date)
Thanks for your help

Sorry, my fault:
I wrote the Bluetooth adress instead of the WiFi address…
It works perfectly now for me

• Full path mapping not working for Taxonomy values

Hi Friends,
I'm trying to update a main table field, which is of type Lookup [Taxonomy]. The taxonomy table has a 5-level hierarchy, with two columns, Code (Display Field 1) and Name (Display Field 2). There are no attributes maintained.
001, A   [Remote Key : 001] <ROOT NODE> {Level 1}
|---000, A1   [Remote Key : 000]  {Level 2}
|---001, A2   [Remote Key : 001]  {Level 3}
|---001000, A3   [Remote Key : 001000]  {Level 4}
|---000102, SYST [Remote Key : 000102]  {Level 5}
|---001001, A4   [Remote Key : 000101]  {Level 4}
|---000102, SYST  {Level 5}
|---001, B   [Remote Key : 001]  {Level 2}
|---001, B1   [Remote Key : 001]  {Level 3}
|---001000, B2   [Remote Key : 001000]  {Level 4}
|---000102, SYST  {Level 5}
|---001001, B3   [Remote Key : 000101]  {Level 4}
|---000102, SYST  {Level 5}
The figure, unfortunately doesn't come up right, so I've indicated the levels of the nodes.
The remote keys have been maintained at all the levels. I've also set my Configuration Options settings for Hierarchy Values Automap to Fullpath. However, when I try to do an "Automap", the values are being mapped to the wrong leaf node, taking only the leaf node remote key, rather than following the full path. The leaf node value (000102, SYST) repeats multiple times, and the remote key could be maintained only for one of them. But instead of following the hierarchy, the mapping happens to the value for which remote key was maintained, here 001->000->001->001000->000102, no matter what the hierarchy is.
Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Anil,
As for Hierarchy field using leaf nodes only for matching - this is the current design and from memory allocation point of view, I think it is reasonable (keeping the full path to the Node will use huge amounts of memory).
they way workaround this is by adding the code field to the matching step, this will allow you to make sure that the currect nodes are being mapped.
Hope this information helps,

• XSLT mapping not working for escapeCharacters.

Hi,
I have an issue with escape characters in PI.
Now I'm trying with CCFile. Binary. (In production we will use FTP as CC.)
Scenarie: SAP --> MyParty.
MyParty needs to have the xml Freetext tag as this:
<FreeText> HELLO WORLD </FreeText>
I have a xslt mapping that like this (To Add the CDATA section.)
Source file is like this: <b> HELLO WORLD </b>

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:output method="xml" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" cdata-section-elements="FreeText" />
<xsl:template match="@|">
<xsl:copy >
<xsl:apply-templates  select="@*|node()" />
</xsl:copy>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
When I use this xsl mapping in my favorite xslt tool everyting looks nice but when I use it in PI it looks like this in file on disk:
<FreeText> <b>  HELLO WORLD   </b> </FreeText>
I don't whant escape characters in my target file. Any Pointers ?
//Martin

Hi Martin,
You required
<FreeText>  HELLO WORLD </ b>]] ></FreeText>
and you got this in XI
<FreeText> lt; b gt; HELLO WORLD lt; /b gt;]] ></FreeText> ( i removed &)
Have you seen the source of the XML output of XI? It will look like the one you mentioned but if you open that in browser it will be as per your requirement
Have you seen the source of output file created by you XML tool?

• Lion Server DNS service not working for locally created zones. Caching working fine.

OS Lion Server DNS service not working for local zones. Was fine under Snow leopard server but Lion server upgrade has severely broken my DNS and web sites. Zones look fine under Server Admin but keep getting "query failed (SERVFAIL) for xxxx at /SourceCache/bind9/bind9-42/bind9/bin/named/query.c:3921" in the logs. BTW - Server Admin cant seem to see the log file either.
Surely someone actually tested that DNS still worked on Lion?

I upgraded from Snow Leopard Server to Lion Server on day 01. I hit the same issue where, after the upgrade, my Lion Server stopped serving names for my private local domain.
I finally took a few minutes to figure out what was wrong. After turning on debug logging and looking through the logs, I found my particular issue, now resolved.
The issue I had was, when the domain initially was setup when I installed Snow Leopard Server, for some reason it created a zone just for the server (in my case, something like zone "s-01.mydomain.priv"), and a separate zone for all the other machines (zone "mydomain.priv", containing all the private IPs for my local domain). I never messed with it because it worked, but generally I would have put all of them in the same zone.
My zone "mydomain.priv" had a nameserver and mail exchanger entry for my server, s-01.mydomain.priv. I could see this in the Server Admin app on the DNS bubble, Zones tab, mydomain.priv selected, and the General Info panel. This was fine in Snow Leopard. This was failing the zone load in the updated bind for Lion Server, though. The issue was that the "mydomain.priv" zone was referencing the s-01.mydomain.priv server, which was not defined in the "mydomain.priv" zone but rather in the "s-01.mydomain.priv" zone.
My fix:
1. In Server Admin, add the server to the zone "mydomain.priv". I put an A record (Add Machine) in the "mydomain.priv" zone for my server named s-01.mydomain.priv.
2. shut down DNS on the OS X Lion Server (hit the Stop DNS button on Server Admin).
3. edit /etc/named.conf by hand, removing the specialized zones that contianed just the server. In this case, it would be the section titled 'zone "s-01.mydomain.priv"' and the section titled 'zone "3.10.1.10.in-addr.arpa"'. Your in-addr.arpa zone name will change based on whatever your server IP address was. My internal one happened to have s-01.mydomain.priv mapped to 10.1.10.3.
4. Once the specialized zones for just the server were removed, I started the DNS up again. Instead of serving four zones as it had in OS X Snow Leopard Server, it now servers two zones. And, now, it is resolving my local machines for the mydomain.priv zone.
YMMV. I did note that it wasn't totally necessary to do step 3, but I never really understood the need for the specialized domain, and keeping it around would have a copy of data that would just confuse things.
Hope that helps. That's been the only hiccup I've noticed updating to OS X Lion Server thus far.

• Alternate access mapping and binding in IIS for NLB nodes(2)

Hello All,
We have configured NLB for 2 nodes( 1 is App and WFE1 and 2 is WFE2).
here, we have given NLB host name to the users to browse. but, do we need to configure any thing in alternate access mapping and in IIS bindings, if yes, Please elaborate step by step please.
Thanks in advance
NLB host name and IP: abc.ap.company.com /10.11.12.95
Node1 server: abc.appri.company.com / 10.11.12.93
Node2 server: abc.appsec.company.com / 10.11.12.94
how to do this.
NARLA

Assuming you configured the web application to use the URL http://abc.ap.company.com there is no additional IIS configuration needed on the servers.
If you're interested in accessing a specific server you can create a hostfile entry on your client machine that abc.ap.company.com to one of the two servers.

I ran into an interesting error when troubleshooting a calendar issue today, wondering if anyone has seen it.
Exchange 2010 SP2 latest RU, Outlook 2010
User changes then start time for a recurring meeting, changes in everybody's calendar but hers 9still shows in her calednar as the original start time)
Logged into OWA to see if her claendar reflected the correct start time there - no, still shows the old start time. So I open the meeting, have a quick look, and the following error pops up:
"Repitition is not working for the item you tried to access. It's possible either the start or end date are not correct"
Has anyone seen this error in OWA before?

Hi,
Please double check whether the updated start time and end time are changed properly in attendees’ calendar. Also confirm whether the updating message is in the organizer’s sent items both in OWA and Outlook.

Public URL for Zone
http://109.XX.XX.XX:101                      Default

The http://mn.abcsystems.com:201 is extended site for reporting working properly. The site http://mn.abcsystems.com:101 works properly,But When I access site using URL http://abc.xyz.in facing following issues:
1.Default windows of share point list for adding,editing updating data not working properly...
2.filters for share-point list not populating.
3.In document Management, unable to delete & open the added document...

We have only 1 webaap that is running on specific port (consider 101)-Claim based auth
For reporting purpose we have extended our webapp on port 201 (windows auth)and this extended site on intranet zone.
For our server we have register one domain like http://mn.abcsystems.com.So it is like our server public ip address.For the same server,we have got multiple subdomain like
http://abc.xyz.in.
So we want to access our webapp by using http://abc.xyz.in. subdomain
So that why we have did

For subdomain url (http://abc.xyz.in) or http://109.XX.XX.XX:101 its not working for above mentioned functionality
For domain url (http://mn.abcsystems.com:101) it work.
