Alunotify.exe in Startup Programs

I have Norton Antivirus 2009.  After EVERY reboot, a little "pulsating antenna" appears in my task tray.  It's from the file Alunotify.exe in my Startup Programs.  How can I get rid of this so I can run Live Update manually?  This antenna goes away after I click it and it autoruns Live Update, but more than 9 times out of 10, there are NO updates and it's a false advisory.  I appreciate the help.  Thanks!

  • Why is Explorer.exe reading my program files at startup?

Every time I boot my computer, if I open Resource Monitor, I will inevitably find, under the "Disk Activity" section, the process explorer.exe "reading" my program files.
When I say "program files", I mean the executable files for applications stored in the "C:\Program Files (x86)" or the "C:\Program Files" directories.
Other files seem to get "read" a lot too. PNF files for example.
I have indexing turned OFF on all drives, and yet the process SearchIndexer.exe is almost always running too.

    Hi,
Firstly, did you installed MSE in your system, this phenomenon can be caused by MSE security scanning disk.
Secondly, this problem can also be caused by 3rd program, it would be better to use AutoRuns to check system startup items if there is any 3rd process or dll file start with system.

  • Windows 8 installation of VPN Client Software (x86 64-bit version) results in "Icon09DB8A851.exe" on startup task

I've just installed a VPN Client Software for x86 64-bit version of Vista and Windows 7 (vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe) to Windows 8.  It's working without problem except that it seems to add an entry "c:\Windows\Installer\{5FDC06BF-3D3D-4367-8FFB-4FAFCB61972D}\Icon09DB8A851.exe" onto startup task. I suspect the installer program (InstallShield) is not working properly.  I'd like to know if anyone has same issue or my computer got infected in malware.

Hi I have installed and config to my client a ASA 5515 and everything is fine but. When I config L2TP/IPSEC VPN for the remote work bang I have a problem. When I config L2TP/IPSEC VPN to Windows 7 with native client on Windows everything is fine, but in Windows 8.1 is bad on 1 hour after VPN connection Windows 8.1 tries to renegotiate the connection and something happens and the connection is disconnected.

  • How can I add a program to the Startup program

When I copy a program that I want to add, I don't get a Paste menu item when right-clicking Startup menu item found when clicking Start and All Programs, so I can't add it to the Startup program

I figured out a way to do this:
1- Copy the shortcut to the program (or the program's .exe (execute file)) you want to add to Startup
2- Right-click Startup (after selecting it in All Programs) and select Explore
3-In the file structure that opens, right-click Startup
    4-Click Save.
P.S. '''alan_r''' Thanks for trying but your suggestion didn't solve it.

When I open ITunes, I get a message that "iTunes has stopped working".  I have tried reinstalling iTunes, creating a new user file, changing the startup programs in accordance with articles in iTunes troubleshooting, but am having no success in getting iTunes to stay open.  Any fixes for this problem?

  • Is there a way to manage startup programs to help find conflicts?

I recently installed a program called Print It! and have found that it locks up when I try to open its help window. This problem doesn't occur if I do a safe boot, so I'm assuming there is some conflict with programs that are automatically loaded at startup. I'm trying to isolate the problem so I'm trying to find a way to easily enable/disable the startup programs. Is there some software program that will help me do this? I don't really want to remove and reinstall startup programs using the controls in System Preferences. Thanks.

So just what did you have in mind?
I'm trying to find a way to easily enable/disable the startup programs.
I don't really want to remove and reinstall startup programs using the controls in System Preferences.
    That includes enable/disable login items?
Some programs aren't in login items but do get added to launchd, some programs like TechTool Pro have their own method and run in the background.
There is no central place to look at a list of all the startup items; or all the launch services and background tasks (shame, too).
Use to be there was a Startupitems in System/Library but no more, or not used as much. Things can be in folder locations, or from where they are installed. What you want is like the old "Extension Manager" which doesn't exist.

  • Many startup programs in Gnome 2.24 Session preferences

I see quite a few new startup programs in the new Gnome Session preferences.
    1. AT SPI Registry Wrapper ( what does this do?)
    2. Gnome Keyring Daemon wrapper.
    3. Gnome Settings Daemon
    4. Gnome Settings Daemon helper
Which of these can be safely removed or disabled?
I disabled Gnome Login sound and Remote Desktop.
    Thanks.

    1. AT SPI Registry Wrapper - is related with accessibility. I've disabled it to no ill effect.
    2. GNOME Keyring Daemon Wrapper - sounds important, so I left it enabled. after all, network-manager accesses the keyring (as well as some other programs).
    3. GNOME Settings Daemon - I left this alone because it sounds important. I think, if you disable, you may have problems with wallpapers and other visual styles.
    4. GNOME Settings Daemon Helper - Same as above.

  • How to register a new MacBook using info I entered in the startup program?

I just opened my new MacBook for the first time and the startup program walked me through entering a bunch of information and connecting to my old iBook to transfer data. And the end of the process it tried to register me with Apple but my internet connection was down and it told me I couldn't register now. It left me instructions for how to register later using the info I already typed in. I did not write down these instructions. Instead I clicked 'continue' and lost them forever.
Does anyone know how to register after the startup program has quit? I found register.apple.com but it requires me to re-enter all my data. Ignoring from the fact that I've spent more time typing this question than I would have re-typing my name and address, it bugs me that I can't find the menu or dialog box that I could swear the startup program told me to use to send my saved info.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

Usually there's a shortcut in your new user's Home folder called "Register with Apple" (or something similar to that) of the original registration fails. To open your user's Home folder, press Apple-shift-H from the Desktop. Can you see the shortcut there?
Just so you know, you don't need to register to receive any technical support or warranty support from Apple. Registering with Apple, I believe, helps their Marketing Department, but you don't need to register for support or help.

  • [Solved] startup programs problem.

    Hi!
I cannot add things to my session, startup programs. could this be because I am not root? My user is added to all the others like audio, video and network. Cant remember if my user is added to more. How can I access the session (startup programs) in system-preferences-session, as a root? I cant add fusion-icon to my start list, and I can only start fusion-icon by root terminal. Anyone know how to add fusion-icon as a startup program?
    Thnx^^

If you mean what Desktop Environment, then I'm using gnome lastes release. With can't add I mean that everything I put in, dissapears after I've gone out of the session program. Abselutely nothing happens when I try to run fusion-icon in Alt+F2. Not even an error comes up, just nothing. Just as if I never typed anything.
When I run fusion-icon in terminal thats not root, I get this:

  • Xmonad: startup programs and keybindings

    hi!
i'm using xmonad since 2 weeks and so far i'm really satisfied with it. but i have 2 problems which i can not solve, so any help would be appreciated:
    1. is there a way to turn off/on all keybindings on the fly?
    2. i have several startup programs which are correctly moved to the specified workspace upon start. however, the order of the programs on each workspace is kind of random. for example, i would like to have a shell on the left side, and another program on the right side. how can i achieve this?
    thanks in advance!

    Hello,
we had this at one point. It indicates that you have 'inconsistencies' in the kernel. You should probably at least get the DW patch for the same level. If there is a complete kernel out right now, I would go with that.
Please check the Forumalso, there have been several threads regarding the kernel in the last couple of weeks.

  • Calling C code (exe ) from Java program

    Hi all,
kindly help in giving a solution for calling C code (exe ) from Java program, i will be very thank full to u if any body can help in sending a code example

You might need to consume the io operations on the Process...
    An excerpt from java.lang.Process:
All its standard io (i.e. stdin, stdout, stderr) operations will be redirected to the parent process through three streams (Process.getOutputStream(), Process.getInputStream(), Process.getErrorStream()). The parent process uses these streams to feed input to and get output from the subprocess. Because some native platforms only provide limited buffer size for standard input and output streams, failure to promptly write the input stream or read the output stream of the subprocess may cause the subprocess to block, and even deadlock.
