Always show a part of a form - like freeze panes in Excel

In Excel you can lock cells so that they always appear no matter where you scroll.
Has anyone done anything similar with livecycle? I'm designing a wide form with a table and I'd like to keep some values visible on the left as the user scrolls to the right.
Any advice, ideas or inspiration greatly recieved!

Just a thought.
I think it would be possible to build a table with buttons nearby (styled to be similar to scrool bars buttons) that would hide a bottom row and reveal a top row with each click--and the opposit with the other button. You wouldn't have a place indicator, though. Also, with another set of buttons, you could hide and reveal 10 rows--thereby paging, sort of.
A script would require all the rows to be named the same, at least for simplicity.

You have a powerpivot model, and a pivot-table based on this PP data, created with Excel 2013
Now you want the Pivot-table columns to freeze if you scroll down the Excel sheet?
IMHO you can't do this because Excel has no Feature to freeze Pivot-table column, but can freeze columns of Excel table objects
You can get PP data into a Excel table object by creating a DAX Query, see:

Making a password show what parts of the document you see

I have a random request from a client that I am not sure is even possible.
They want their document to be used by two people, one of them will only be able to see say 4 pages of it while the other will be able to see it all including what the person before had entered.
I think you can get around the text part quite easily but to have it show different parts of the form via a password is very hard for me to do (even if it is possible at all)
Can anyone lend me a hand in this?

It sure is possible. I have been doing it for quite some time now and this would be a perfect situation for the Action Builder if coding in FormCalc is not your thing, but I can give you both.. I will use a sample form for the demo so if the lingo doesn't match up to your form, let me know or if you need an example. If anyone has anything simpler or I missed something, let me know. PM me if you want a sample form.
Create a new PDF and add in a second blank page and set that page to hidden in the Object field. Place a text field on page 1. Go to the Action Builder (in Windows go to the toolbar at the top, then "Tools" then select "Action Builder". The Action Builder is a great tool to add some extra functions into your PDFs with the preset actions. From the Action Tool box select the "Add New Item" from the top left of the box, right next to the trash can icon. This will create a new Action. There are 2 things for the Action: a condition and then a result. In the Condition section click the "object" link and then select the text field you put on page 1. Once you select the text field, the Condition box will change to "when text field TextField1...." and there will be 2 drop down boxes. With the condition set as "Is" put your password in the blank field. Then in the Result section select the drop down box and go to "Show/Hide an Object"and then select Page 2. What this will do is when TextField1 is equal to your password, page 2 will be visible. You can do this with not only a page, but specific elements within the PDF. So additional Textfields, pages, static text or other elements. One thing to keep in mind is what I like to call "foward/backwards logic" in that a user can enter the password to show the data, then remove it to hide whatever. Just go back through the Action Builder in reverse order that you did, where when TextField1 IS NOT the password, set the elements to hidden.
If you can do this via Formcalc, the setup would be similar, but instead of using the Action Builder you could do something like, create a numericField that has a number based password. On that field, go to your Script Editor, select "Change: from the show section, change the Language to FormCalc and then enter:

The bolded 1 is the password. The second and third lines cover what you want hidden or visible. So change whatever you want the password to, change the hidden and visible sections and then give it a try. You could even set this on a docReady show option as well to check that field when the form is opened if perhaps the first person saved the PDF with the hidden sections open. That way they do not need to enter the password every single time. Of course before they send it they should remove the password. Just be ready that whenever the user opens the form, even if they do not change anything, they will be prompted to save.

Computer always showing in Shared pane even when Off???

My Macbook finder is always showing my other Home computer in the Shared pane even if the Home computer is Off???? However, my home computer is showing my Macbook only when the Macbook is ON .
Both running 10.5.1 (all current updates).
Any idea how to fix that?

My iMac does the same thing. It show my Macbook in the Finder when its off. If I do a reboot it will not show and the iMac but soon as I turn it on it appears as normal just as it should same goes for the macbook. Now if I take my iMac of the network it will disappear on my macbook. The iMac wants to keeps show my macbook even when off. Any suggestions?

How to show more than one record at a form-like style report?

I want it to show more than one record at once (At the same page)
I tried that by setting the value to "Maximum records per page" property for the repeating frame to 10
but when I close the property palete and open it agian the value is returned to 1 !!!

there's perhaps another property like "page protect". If than 2 records didn't fit at one page there's a page break. Or is there any object inside the repeating frame with page-break properties? Sorry .. it's like looking into a chrystal ball ...

          Even i work on D2K (Forms 6i). I have tried this below & found the result.
     Its true that you can not add animated image. But you can definitely show a data loading symbol in code.
     Add 2 different contrast colours and choose a striped pattern.
1) Create a text item with a lengthy rectangle (width minimum of 300).
2) Create a visual attribute for it with desired colours.
3) Finally add the following in between your code.

Is there a way to default the monthly calendar display
so that the current day always shows on top? ie, I want to always be able to see what's in the future 3-4 weeks, not what's in the past 3-4 weeks. The default monthly display is archaic--only allows you to see through the last day of the month. Suddenly today
is Oct. 30th, and I have a ton of projects lined up in November, but because I haven't been scrolling down every day, I haven't been aware of them every day. I realize there are other tools in Microsoft to help me stay on task, such as reminders and such,
but it would be helpful if I could always have the current day display on top of the monthly view so I can quickly scan what's coming up in the next few weeks.

Right, I already have it in Month view. My question is a little more specific--I'd like for the current day to always display at the top. For example, today is Oct. 31st, so the current day is at the bottom of the calendar since it is the last day of the month.
I can view everything in October that I've already completed. What I can't see are the future weeks because we haven't hit November yet. I'd like for the current day to always display at the top of my calendar so I can always see what's coming in the following

even really matter what month it is--I just always want to see what lies ahead without having to scroll down. With our being in the Technology Age, I'd assume this is a logical expectation, but we may be stuck with the replica version of the paper-desk-calendar
format until Outlook programmers add this Technology Age feature in newer versions.
See, this month kind of messed me up because I have so many projects for November that start tomorrow and next week, but I haven't seen them until this week. I would have been better quipped--at least expecting them--had I been able to see all of those projects
since last week or the week prior.

Remote Exchange Management Console "W3SVC isn't running on any Exhange servers in site" and always shows older version after SP2 or SP3 installed

I'm trying to use EMC on a computer to remotely manage Exchange 2010 without having to do from the actual Exchange servers.
First off, upgrading, uninstalling or installing EMC always fails on "Stopping" services. Seams to be a pretty common problem, but no clear fix other than deleting the registry entry (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer) and the
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server" folder. I'm guessing this is a bug since there should not be any Exchange services that need to be stopped on a computer where I'm just trying to use the EMC tool to manage Exchange.
Next, is where when I open EMC I get "The World Wide Web Publishing Service (W3SVC) isn't running on any Exchange servers in the site. If you want to connect to Remote PowerShell, this service must be running. Make sure that the W3SVC is running on
at least one Exchange server." From all the reading I am pretty sure that this is due to the Exchange servers being on one version and EMC I'm trying to use is another version.
This is the version our Exchange Servers are on:

Which finally brings me to the part where no matter what SP I install to run EMC it always shows:

I've tried SP2, and even SP3 hopeing that an even newer version would let me connect to Exchange, but no matter what it always shows the 14.01 version above.
I've also tried installing "Exchange2010-KB2874216-x64-en" which should be the same version we are on (Update Rollup 7 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2), but get a Windows Installer Error stating, "The upgrade patch cannot be installed
by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program." This Error probably makes sense if no matter what I do I'm stuck with a version prior to SP2.
Any ideas?

From your description, I would like to clarify the following things:
1. Make sure the World Wide Web Publishing Service is running in Exchange server.
2. Ensure that the account you use to open EMC is a member of Organization Management role group.
3. Based on my knowledge, the error "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program." occurs if you install
the RU for a different SP. Please re-download the Service Pack 2 and install it on the remote computer since it hasn't been installed successfully from the above information.

How to hide parts in a form

Hi, i am developing a web application which is a form that takes information from the user and stores them in a database. i am using oracle's jdeveloper and they have a render property. i am trying to make the form show fields if a check box is checked or is someone with the right credentials is viewing the form. i dont know how to make them appear or disappear, can anyone help me on how to go about this?

Multiple List Box showing Duplicate Options in Existing Form Library forms.

Good day. I currently have an InfoPath 2010 form library template that has a view containing 4 multiple selection list boxes. These list boxes get their values from a hidden view that contains 4 repeating tables in which I've set default values
for Value and Display name to populate the multiple selection list boxes.
The issue I am having is this: When adding new options to the repeating tables through the Default Values option window and publish, new forms display the new selection options successfully, while existing forms in the library when opened are displayed duplicates
of the first default value in the table in the place of the new options. (Example, Create Data[display] - 10[value] is displaying 4 times after adding 3 new options to the characteristics table that contains Create Data as it's first row item.)
When comparing the .XML of a new form to an existing form, groupX in this case shows all options in the new form .XML, but shows the duplicates in the .XML of an existing .XML file.
Is there a way to resolve this issue so that existing documents will display the proper selection options instead of the duplicates? I'd like to note that another list box had a value added and it displayed the value properly when published in both
new and existing forms.

There are no rules on Section A.
Two out of three forms used so far by the users have these problems.
We did extensive trending study on all the submitted forms on both where the submit was successful and ones with Section A frozen up. Also, requested a user to submit a few forms per our instructions on different browsers. Even though there are some
forms in the past which could be claimed as success has some attachment uploaded to the Section A of the form, currently every time an attempt by any usetr to attach a smallest document the section A, it wipes out all the existing completed fields and freezes
up all the rest of the controls of that section and not any other part of the form.

Can I print a specific part of a form, wrapped in a subform?

I'm a rookie in LiveCycle, and could use some help!
I have created a form, with several radiobuttons, to show/hide futher questions.
Now I want to give the end user, the possibility to print out only part of the form. More specific, a part wrapped in a subform.
Is there somehow I can do it with Javascript?
I'm using LiveCycle ES2.

Hi,
you can exclude objects (like subforms, fields etc.) from printing by manipulating the relevant property, but this will also hide all objects included in this object.
A script in the prePrint event of an object can control if this object and all its chilc objects will be printed or not.

How to Split/Bend a tabular into 3 parts in a Form?

My questions is how to split a tabular into 3 parts on the canvas.
Say I have a table like following.

In a Form, I would like to show 'table a' in a tabular, but it was cut into 3 parts.
It is like a 3x3 array.
The first 3 records are displayed on the first column, the middle 3 records are in the 2nd column,the last 3 records are in the last column.
1,a     4,d     7,g
2,b     5,e     8,h
3,c     6,f     9,i
When I do the execute_query to this Text Item, I can use Key-up and Key-down to scroll the records.
The reason why I want to make it, just because if the records cannot fit in one screen, I can bend it to the right side.
Can you guys give me any hints or solutions?

I think we have maybe a communication problem.
I interpreted your question to be how to separate two paragraphs top and bottom, but now it looks more like you want to separate multi-paragraph "sections" into two parts top and bottom, and yo are coorect, what I suggested does not do that.
What MIGHT work would be to put text frames on the master pages, two on each, one above the other (and these two frames can actually overlap to allow for content of different lengths). The two top frames should have vertical alignment set to top, the lower frames should be set to bottom. Thread the top frame on the left to the bottom frame on the left, then the top frame on the right and the bottom frame on the right.
If the paragraph style for the first paragraph in any "section" is set to start in next frame you should jump from frame to frame each time you hit a new section, and the there will never be more than two sections on a page, with the maximum gap available (though if there is a particularly long section, you might need to artificially adjust a frame height to create a gap, especially if the frames overlap), no matter how many paragraphs appear in the section:
The threading here looks confusing. The top frames extend not quite to the bottom, and the lower frames come not quite to the top, so the outport on the upper frame is lower on the page than the inport on the lower frame. I'vew added numbers so you can see the sequence.

How to always show rulers in Photoshop CS5 and other problems

Does anyone know how to make Photoshop CS5 always show rulers in mac? I have not have this issue with any other PS. I need the rulers to drag guides contantly, but photoshop cs5 would not show the rulers automatically. Everytime I have to go to View --> Show rulers or the shortcut command + R. Is there a way to instruct Photoshop to always show rules with any file I open or create?
I have many other issues with Photoshop CS5 that CS2, 3, and 4 had out of the box... It is very frustrating that I spent all this money and instead of working, I have been on the phone with Adobe for hours... I am very disappointed so far.
I have had CS5 Master's Collection for 2 months now on Mac 10.6.7. I have reinstalled Photoshop 3 times as some shortcuts were not working like shift plus scroll to inscrease to 100%, 200%, etc.
The other thing that still does not work and Adobe has not offered a solution is that my Photoshop would not append extensions. Regardless of the Preferences settings, all my files get saved as JPG instead of jpg... I wonder if any of you out there have this issue as well?

I believe my computer and its account are healthy. I just bought the mac pro with solid state and the only programs I have installed are the Master Collection CS5.
I have good news though - After two months of waiting, I was finally able to speak with Adobe specialists yesterday and they changed the shortcut for Save As that Photoshop ships with from Command + Alt + S to Command + Shift + S - and miraculously now Photoshop appends extensions!!!
However, my question about always displaying rulers remains. We got disconnected and I didn't have a chance to ask them (I was on hold for an hour and a half!)

I have found with AppleTV that it is the IPV6 on the computer you want to access is the problem. The issue is that Homegroup on Win 7 or Win 8 requires IPV6 to work, but AppleTV won't work with IPV6. (So maybe double check you have IPV6 turned off)
So you have to make a choice - Homegroup or AppleTV.... but you can't have both, until Apple brings ATV up to date. (crazy that it does not recognise IPV6 - c'mon Apple!)
You can set up sharing individually in Win 7 or 8 and have the ATV access files that way.
Having said that, there is always the exception.. I have an old HP home server running Win8 and it services ATV - but is part of the Homegroup... have no idea why it works on both, but no other machine on the home network will talk to both ATV and Homegroup at the same time!
