Am I the only person that feels like the salesman lied to me, wrote up contract wrong, etc?

I had purchased two Iphone 4's without contract and enjoyed not having the bill and extra fees every month.  Through the prepaid carrier, my son and I didn't even know we could use a laptop or anything  with our phones.  Luck would have it, the only thing I had left through Verizon was my USB device that I put on my computer and after 3 years, it broke.  I went to Verizon to purchase a new one, and pay cash for it to not be under contract, the first salesman assured me it was compatible like the other but after four days I had to take it back for lack of connection.  79.00 was what I paid, when returned, of course I got stuck paying the restocking fee of 35.00 and a new sales person named Cofe (at Jonesboro location) comes to assist me. He talked me into the wifi jetback for 20 or so with the NEW TWO YEAR CONTRACT as he understood I would be needing for portable devices.  Had to pay full price for it and wait for my 50 bucks on the rebate card.  He spots my son scoping out the 4S, he said he could make the deal worth my while if we wanted to get newer phones...never telling me how much the cost.  Against my better judgement, we got new phones, promised new free Lifeproof cases, etc.  I told him my funds were tight and I only wanted a plan of about 160 or 180 total for all.  Paid the small amount he said was due, then get a bill for 443 a couple days later.  We kept going over the data on our phones, not knowing that he in fact set us up to pay 220 a month for 10 gb data, use of jetpack and two smart phones.  Paying over for what we had on the mifi we didn't know exitsted caused us to have 30 too much on device and usually 30 overcharge data.  Fianlly look at bill wondering why I couldn't get it paid up and 6 calls to customer service, digging through receipts, 10 hours of phone bill hunting, and numerous hours on the phone brought to my attention that he had set me up on almost the most expensive plan, charged us 99 each for cases, 99 for two new contracts and swiped a gift card for 400 to my account without any knowledge.  Also, this  was a new plan since not under contract, and HE TOOK OUR PHONES that I could've sold for a small chunk and there is not a trace of where they went? He made himself a sale that day!!  They have removed some of the charges since I took back the FREE cases, etc., but this has been a horrible experience.  I begged the people to please let me out of my contract because now I am unemployed and sure cant afford this and I feel like he did some underhanded tactics selling and not starting the plan off right.  He didn't have to sell me the jetpack, we can run laptop of phones, and I guess if I were only gonna get 99 bucks for a three month old phone, I wouldve taken it elsewhere.  It's amazing that of all documents scanned in My Verizon, it does not really show a trade in, which he didn't explain anyway, nor does it show what or the actual value.  I get horrible service in my area and it drags on the web.not taking long to use the data.  In the last week, my phone was cut off so I had to go to the prepaid place and port over.  Paid enough to keep my son's phone and laptop and got told if I dont have remaining balance in a few days, they won't port my number back to Verizon, service interrupt on all and then the process server will get to bang on my door.  I have never been so disgusted with service and some of the people in that building by their actions.  One tried but of course he took up for his dude Cofe.....I don't know what to do now, try to pay it or tell them take the phones and FIND MY OLD ONES then go back prepay.  Read this customer service specialist, because I am pretty sure DECEIT, RUNNING GIFT CARDS, AND WRONGFULLY SETTING UP NEW CONTRACT is grounds for an official claim. How did y'all like that bid long confusing mess of a story?  :/

    Go back to whatever OSX you were using before you installed Mavericks. Ust the Bacup you made before you installed it.

  • Firefox frequently freezes. I can't click on anything (tabs, menu buttons, bookmarks, etc.) The only button that works is the upper right close button which when clicked will ask me if I want to "save & quit." Then I have to restart. Help fixing this?

    Frequently when I use Firefox it will all of a sudden freeze. It no longer will accept any user input from the keyboard or mouse. I cannot click on any of the open tabbed pages I have or on my bookmarks or any of the menu buttons. Nothing works. When it happens if it is loading a page it will just freeze in the middle of loading it. I've tried to see if the freezes are caused when it loads certain types of content (java, flash, etc...) but there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when it happens or with what types of pages. I cannot find a pattern. The ONLY button that works is the close button in the upper right hand corner (X). I can click on that and then Firefox will prompt me with it's regular message asking me if I want to save and quit, quit, or cancel. I'll hit save and quit and then reopen Firefox. It opens my tabs and if I was in the middle of a post it generally will still remember the text I've typed (except Facebook!).
    It's beginning to drive me nuts and I'm really hoping to find a fix to this.

    You will also notice that your shift key will be emulated. Meaning that keys you will try to press will press but they will act like you are pressing the shift key when you are doing them.
    Try this, minimize the firefox window by pressing the tab on your taskbar. After doing that maximize it again. You will magically be able to click any link on your page. When you navigate to a new page however, the entire situation will start all over. My only remedy is rebooting and hoping it doesn't happen again soon.

  • Want my JFrame to be the *only* one that can end the program when closed

    Hi all,
    I have an application that is essentially a launcher for other applications -- it's a holder to allow us to demo our work and other Java examples (not necessarily our work). The launcher will either run methods to launch an application or will find a class's main method and invoke that.
    In all cases, the other applications open up their own JFrames, separate from my launcher (this is a good thing). The problem is that, in general, the other JFrames are set to EXIT_ON_CLOSE. This means that if the user closes the second window, everything will close.
    Is there anyway to prevent this from happening? I'd like either a way to say that my JFrame is the only one that can exit the program when closed, or to say globally that JFrames can't exit on close, and then re-work my initial frame so that it is still able to exit.
    Note that changing all the other applications so that they do not include the EXIT_ON_CLOSE line is not an option (several of the applications we have the right to use, but not the right to modify, for instance).
    Any thoughts?

    I guess I was thinking this as a process-oriented question (I had already been thinking of the "different JVM" tactic), but the other option was to think of it as a pure-swing problem, like your solution above. Guess I should have just cross-posted -- everyone loves that! ;-)

    I have a Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
    Upgraded to Yosemite last week.
    Three days ago I was using my Macbook Air for the first time since upgrading to Yosemite. I had been using my Macbook Air for approximately 30 minutes, I was using safari and the keyboard and trackpad stopped working (would not respond). The only button that worked was the power button.
    I rebooted and they were still not working. I plugged in a USB mouse and external USB keyboard, only one USB port would work (the Left USB port if looking at the screen) so I had to swap between keyboard and mouse.
    After logging in there is a bluetooth icon at the top of the screen with a sawtooth line through it. Bluetooth is unavailable and the bluetooth icon is missing from the system preferences menu.
    If I run a hardware test by holding D (on USB keyboard) at startup it says that no problems are found and at the conclusion of the test the keyboard and trackpad start working again. When I log on the bluetooth is working again.
    I shut down the Macbook Air and when I started it again the keyboard and trackpad and right side USB ports were all not working again. I logged in using the USB keyboard and mouse and the bluetooth not available sawtooth icon had returned.
    I ran the hardware test again and at the conclusion of the test the trackpad and keyboard started working again.
    I have tried deleting com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile from /Library/Preferences/ and tried resetting SMC and Power Functions but this did not fix the issue. The only thing that seems to work is running a hardware test - obviously I don't want to do this every time I use the computer.
    I do not believe any hardware is faulty/damaged - I think it has something to do with bluetooth/Yosemite.
    I do not have the Macbook with me at the moment, if you have suggestions that I can try or additional checks/info you require please let me know and I can get back to you.

    I have exactly the same problem, and I can't find any solution.
    I can't even track down the root of the problem: the Bluetooth/Wifi module? The trackpad? The keyboard/top case? The logicboard?
    I've tried all the usual: SMC/PRAM reset, clean install, kext cache clearing.
    Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!

There is obviously a signal getting through to the TV, but it is not sending images of anything else, and am unable to watch video through my Air. Any advise/suggestions?

    This is called "extended desktop mode".  It's an extension of the desktop off to the right (by default) of your MBair screen.  Grab an app and drag it off the right side of your MBair screen and it will appear on the TV.
    To mirror your MBair screen on the TV you can press Command F1.  This will toogle between mirror and extended desktop.
    You can find all the settings in System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab.

    Have you tried to give your iPad a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if it helps.

    In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
    Then quit and restart iPhoto.

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    To get the new interface you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry. If you had applied customizations to the menu bar whilst using Firefox 3.6, the new version would by default use the old interface.
    If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

    Release 28 was the last version that allowed us to add toolbars, put icons on new and old toolbars and truly customizing the browsers for our use. Other things like separate the search window and the URL window of different toolbars to make the use faster.
    Sooner or later, I know I will have to upgrade if this "dumbing down" continues, or try to find another browser but I have been on this browser almost since I left Netscape and started using Firefox many, many years ago.
    Most I know hate Google, Chrome for its "clean" look, that is, removing options and hiding command icons so we have to hunt for them. But, it looks like the developers of FF used to work on IE or Chrome as now I can not tell much difference. What you can see is way TOO simple and hidden.
    Am I alone in this feeling of FF going in the wrong direction? The other browsers have "dumbed" down theirs for the novice or people that use only email but not the serious users like the FF user.
    IF I am the only one, then I will go away and try to keep up with these "dumbed down", clean, blank, versions.

    I have a Iphone4 and my friend sends me a multimedia text and I open it to find that it has came in two parts, one for the pic an the other for the sound which destroys the whole idea of the multimedia text for me, then I say ok if I can't enjoy it then maybe I can forward it to some one that can, just to find that forwarding a multimedia text is even worse than receiving one. Now I live in a house with teenagers and all of them have Iphone's, three Iphone 4's an one Iphone 3. I have approached each of them on this an each of them give me a excuse why they don't forward or don't mind that the Iphone has this problem. Well, me being the guy that has to pay for these toys, have a problem with this!
    I had a Motorola Karma before this IPhone an guess what? I sent an received my multimedia texts just fine! I got the phone for 20 dollars with a contract! I am over my 30 days on this phone an I am having more an more problems with it, like when I talk on the phone with it at my ear the lights on it flicker and guess what my ear will hit the mute button! Trying to send pic's with the phone as a text message an just to find it fail, again the teens have a work around for it! "just email it" well why should I do that if the phone says I can text it, my Karma did it just fine! I can't change my tones for my incoming texts or voicemails to what I want them to be, among other small things. I am very upset at all of this! This phone is not what I was told it was, an its gonna be a very expensive lesson for me, I should have researched instead of listening to everyone who had this phone!

    I'm sorry to hear about your complaints. Let me try to address them individual to see if I can help.
    For your complaint about your ear muting calls: Make sure the phone is snug to the side of your face. The proximity sensor in the phone needs to have coverage to assume the phone is next to your face. Check your iOS version number also. Make sure you're on version 4.2.1, which I'm told has some firm fixes that might resolve the sensitivity trouble with the proximity sensor.
    For your complaint about not being able to change text tones: You can change them. Go to Settings, Sounds and Text Tones. You can change to any of the preset sounds set by the phones software. If you want to create a custom text tone, that's not an option with the phone and hasn't been since it's initial release.
    For your complaint about MMS messages: That seems to be just how it works.
    I understand your frustration with an expensive device not having bells & whistles you hope for, but the device does exactly what it promises. If the iPhone isn't your cup of tea, that's fine too. Everyone has different needs and expectations. Just do some fact checking before you invest money into a phone next time to see if it suits you.
