AMD 64 and SB Audigy 2 probl

I recently upgraded to a AMD 64 bit CPU and a DFI Lanparty MB. I kept my old SB Audigy 2 card, but it's giving me some problems now. This is on a clean reinstalation of Windows XP Pro.
Right after I installed the card and the drivers, I restarted my computer, as I was supposed to. Upon return, it said it could not find "READREG.EXE." So, I went looking for drivers. I some, but I could not install them, I was given this message: "Installation did not detect the pressence of a Sound Blaster Audigy card. Please ensure that you have installed the card properly before running this update again. Update will exit now." The card is installed properly. So, I let it go, but it wouldn't even register the SB mixer, but after awhile, I finally got that working. Now my problem is the sound card not being recognized by Windows. I get sound from the speakers, but I do not have access to any of the SB features (EAX Console, Speaker Settings, or anything else). It gives me the error: "Unable to load needed components. Please reinstall the card." I have reinstalled the card and the software countless times, each to no avail.

You could try a full uninstall of the software, removing everything so you can start over. Move the card to another PCI slot in case of any resource conflicts, and then use CTZAPP.EXE on the CD to install the drivers.
There are some details on full uninstalls on this page.

    CS7... or CS6.5?
I don't have any links, but I remember a past discussion where the Adobe CEO said they would be going to an annual release cycle... with a .5 (paid) upgrade between the major version upgrades
If that is still true, that means that what will come out this year will be CS6.5

  • Problem with AMD and Lenovo G510 Notebook

    Hello,
I bought a Lenovo G510 Notebook i7 with both Intel and AMD Radeon 8570 graphic cards and I have to say my (first and only) experience with AMD and Lenovo is being so far totally disgusting.
My problem is that there's no way I can make the computer use the AMD Radeon while playing, I updated the drivers (even following instructions from Lenovo Staff in this forum) and there's no way to do it. I updated it from AMD and Intel webpages and neither works. Right now I have the latest drivers from Lenovo webpage and the computer can't even recognize the AMD graphic card (in Device manager is written as OPAL GT/XL 6604).
I don't know what else to try, I've been trying to look for more solutions in the websites but I have to say they are for me totally a mess and the only thing I got was "update your drivers" once and again. I hope the service is better than the offered in the website.
    Diego

Can you tell me what Windows version are you using? And some other information.
    For example:
    G510
    i5-4200M
    4GB
    500GB
Fresh Windows 8.1 Pro Update 1 x64 (means I did not update but installed fresh after formatting all partitions)
Intel HD 4600 & AMD Radeon HD 8570M
Also post a picture of your Device Manager with Display adapters expanded.

When I plug my iPhone 4s into my PC, I get a message that says iTunes needs a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. It wants me to uninstall both the AMDS and iTunes and then reinstall iTunes. iTunes won't recognize my phone and so I can't synch it. Has anyone else run into this problem recently and how did you resolve it? Thanks!

Thank you both. I suppose I should have prefaced my question with the concern that I've read a number of other posts from people who have had a similar issue and when they tried to follow the directions, they ran into a multitude of other problems. As you might imagine, I'm hoping to avoid the creation of new problems as I try to solve this one. Thanks again.

  • ITunes, AMDS and iPad make problems

    Hi everybody
I got some serious problem with iTunes, iPad, AMDS and Windows 7 64 bit. I first noticed it when I wanted to watch video. Due to a "cancelling sync..." message I was unable to watch video (and listen to music). Searching the web brought me the solution that all I should do was to force a re-sync of the iPad (i.e. delete a file).
But, then all the problems started. My iTunes does not "recognize" the iPad due to the Apple Mobile Device Service is not started. If I tries to start the service with the iPad connected a windows error message 1067 appears and I start the service without the iPad connected the service starts, but terminates instantly when the iPad is connected. The "canceling sync... " message is fixed, I connected the iPad to another PC, but I'm still not able to get the iPad and iTunes to work together on my own PC.
I followed this guide (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) but, it did not fix my problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes about five times, inclusive all apple programs such as QuickTime, Bonjour, etc. I even took a "screen dump" on the iPad as some suggests, tried a clean boot and reinstalled iTunes once more. I tried updating the USB driver as Apple suggests, but yet nothing seem help. I'm running out of ideas, and I'm not much up for re-installing windows.
Anyone who knows how to get my iPad/iTunes to work on my Windows 7 64 bit platform, without reinstalling W?
    Regards Jakob

You shouldn't be stumped. None if those other posts apply to you. You can take both your iPad and Airport Extreme into the Apple store and get at least one of then fixed.

  • Anyone using Norton's AV and SB Audigy 2 ZS?

I got the Audigy 2 ZS Gamer since it had $70 USD in rebates and instant savings. I got home and the installation failed ( and I did uninstall the old drivers and disable onboard sound). I had made a restore point prior to the installation, but decided to try again. Supposedly, the install worked, but it really didn't. I had sound through Windows media player and in a game but not in windows, and none of the creative troubleshooter showed several failures. Also, my NAV 2002 autodetect wouldn't load. Device Manager showed one item under sound with an exclamation mark. I then installed AVG so I would have an AV prog. Then I discovered that there were so many restore points that it wiped out the one I made. After sever installs/uninstalls, I tried to go back to the onborad sound and that wasn't working right either.
I bit the bullet, reformatted, and reinstalled windows. I also kept the onboard sound disabled and installed the Audigy 2 ZS sound card. It worked! I have not installed Media Source.
Is anyone using Norton's 2004 and the Audigy 2 ZS card and supporting software (not sure if I'll install mediasource)? I know that several people tout AVG, but I'm not so positive. They have not rated really well, consistantly, in the Virus Bulletin ( http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?avg.xml ). In fact, as far as their history, they have done poorly compared to Norton's and many others ( http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/p...ml?symantec.xml and http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?eset.xml as examples ). I was very surprised for I'd always heard good things about AVG. It did give me a false positive yesterday (hidden extension-took out the spaces, rescanned and it was clean). Remember, I'm asking about Norton's and Audigy 2.
Of course, any input about your experiences with norton's/Audigy 2 or whatever you're using will be most appreciated.
I posted this in Anything Under The Sun, but no one seems to be looking at it.  My appologies for double posting, but I really need to hear about people's experiences with this Sound Card/software and Antivirus software.

Which version of Norton's are you using?  My problem is with the 2002 version that is part of SystemWorks.
I haven't installed Mediasource, just the drivers (and updates) and the software for the audigy 2 ZS with the THX and EAX consoles updates (again, not mediasource).  Is it really worth having Mediasource installed?
Oh yeah, despite all the problems I had and having to reformat, NO buzz, hum, static now with microphone using this sound card.

  • Audigy Value and Digital Out probl

    I read the faq.
I have the Audigy Value card with the digital I/O mini-jack. I tried using a standard optical cable with an adapter mini-jack "cap" to pop on one end to plug into the sound card, and the other end into my digital in on my stereo. I still can't get any sound, is there some setting I am missing.
I pop in my Hercules sound card that has a normal type optical out and everything works fine without me messing with it, so I know it isn't the stereo input.

  • Creative L3500 Speaker system and Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Soundcard (I have a driver probl

Yes I have had a driver problem so i went to the download section of this site and picked up a driver program for my soundcard yet it doesn't work. When i do uninstall my soundcard (i need to uninstall current driver to install new driver)and i restart my comp after removing the old one i get sound, but i notice i don't get very good sound, not as good as my old before it stoped working. But then after i install new one it just doesn't work!
Please help me if you know about drivers!!!!
PS: I use windows XP and if you need any more info just request it from me.Message Edited by Nick345 on 02-28-200605:05 PM

JRe: Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Speaker issues not covered by FAQs0 I'm afriad that the CMSS3D option did not work? ? I still cannot get any speakers to play out of the rear of the soundcard.
As I said before, the goal is to try to get sound to play out of both the headset and the speakers attached to the rear of the soundcard simuntaneously.
The headset is plugged into one of those devices in the front that is in a 5 & /4" bay that has the individual knobs for adjusting volume for the headset and outbound levels for the microphone.
The speakers are plugged into the back of the soundcard and do not play any sound in any of the sockets, starting from the firewire port and counting 3 over.
Any suggestions? I? thought it might have something to do with the setting of the speakers from control panel - > Sounds and Audio Devices -> Advanced and picking the right choice there. No luck however. Same for the Creative Speaker Settings as well.
I'm at wits end and I'd be very thankful to whoever can resolve this for me. =)

  • Audigy 2 ZS and inspire P5800 probl

Hi i just got both of these this year, and i am having trouble watching movies in Dolby or DTS. I can only hear the front 3 channels in Dolby, and no sound in DTS. I have everything plugged in right, and during the speaker tests every channel is audible and working properly. Thanks to anyone who can help me!

    speedking,
Ensure that the DTS decoder have been enabled for the sound card through Control Panel -> AudioHQ -> Device Control -> Decoder.
Also ensure that the DVD playback software have been set to SPDIF Passthrough or similar option.

  • Windows 2000 and Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS probl

When I go to set up my Inspire T7700 7. speakers my highest choice in the control panel is 5. on the speakers? Is this a limitation of Windows 2000? I have the latest updates for 2000 on both the service packs and latest driver updates for the card. I was using this card in an XP system before and I did not have this problem. I was able to select 7. when using XP.

    Why bother with Microsoft?
They didn't even add in 6. in Windows XP
    Seriously, use Creative Speaker Settings.

  • Itunes requires a newer version of Apple mobile device support please uninstall both AMDS and itunes and the install itunes again?

i have a windows vista and ipod touch 2nd gen. i have done this many times and still comes up the same. also now it wont install AMDS anymore.

many thanks. That's also useful to know.
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Ok I've been having a LOT of problems lately with my SoundBlaster Audigy. Recently I decided to take out one of my two hard dri'ves and once I installed windows to my other hard dri've my sound card started acting funny. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. But I have sound, not as the correct soundcard, but I do have sound. When I did get it to work and show up as a SoundBlaster Audigy, it works for maybe a few hours then I get a horrible screeching sound from my speakers then my computer freezes up. I restart the computer and my Soundcard is gone again.
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix it or can I? Is my soundcard going bad? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

    Wrothgar,
Try following these uninstallation steps from this Knowledgebase article SID72. After you have finish uninstalling and removing all the files as instructed from the guide, do not reboot but shutdown the computer and remove the soundcard from the computer instead. Next, power on the computer without the soundcard and then let Windows finish its startup before shutting it down again. Slot the soundcard back into the computer and proceed with the re-installation from the CD.

  • Creative SB Audigy probl

ok, I have the SB audigy, and creative 5600 5. speaker system. I want to use headphones, but I run into a few problems. One, there's no headphone jack on any of the speakers or the head unit, and 2, when I just unplug the head unit from the sound card and plug in headphones, all I get is very loud static. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

You cant plug headphones into the out put jack on you sound card, Your sound card or any sound for that matter has no AMP, thats why all speaker systems have the contols on the speakers.Although Pro cards with the rack have it. The amp for the most part is in the subby box. This is where you Wattage output power comes from and not your card.
If your speakers have no head phone jack ( this is very odd though ) then you out of luck.
