An exception occured while creating a query in EntityManager

I was directed to create a new topic rather than resurrect a long dead thread. I appreciate the correction in this.
Persistence, Entity Manager, NetBeans 6.7.1, GlassFish v2.1, Database
I am getting the following Stack Trace:

It appears that problem
|javax.faces.event.AbortProcessingException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: An exception occured while creating a query in EntityManager
is actually caused by
Exception Description: Error compiling the query [select object(o) from Empdata as o]. Unknown abstract schema type [Empdata].
The Query is a very basic query.
     private EntityManagerFactory emf = javax.persistence.Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("PersistPU");
     public EntityManager getEntityManager() {
          return emf.createEntityManager();
     private List<Empdata> findEmpdataEntities(boolean all, int maxResults, int firstResult) {
          EntityManager em = getEntityManager();
          try {
               Query q = em.createQuery("select object(o) from Empdata as o"); // Problem line
               if (!all) {
                    q.setMaxResults(maxResults);
                    q.setFirstResult(firstResult);
               return q.getResultList();
          } finally {
               em.close();
I have reviewed my Configuration Files and Source Packages without solution.
Where do I need to look or what do I need to do to determine the error?

After reading similar discussion in the OTN Discussion page ( [Thread: Unknown abstract schema type |http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=602826] ) I reviewed how I was creating my EntityManagerFactory. I realize also more information is required for a more complete understanding of the circumstances.
I originally created a project in Netbeans using the wizard to create a JSF Project from Entity Classes. Through trial and error I produced from the resulting JSF Web pages a maintenance project for a given table in the database. I was then given the task to split the table and build a new project utilizing the existing entity classes in a production project.
After the table was split and the new entity classes created I then entered the task of starting a new project using the entity classes in the production project. To do this I used the Netbeans wizard to create the JpaControllers in the production project. I copied as much code as I could from the working table maintenance project I had just completed. I have now started to connect the two projects. I have included the production project with the entities as a library project. I created the persistence.xml file in the new project with the same persistence unit name as the production project. I have included the Toplink Extensions as a library in the new project (even though the production project has the entity classes). From what I have been able to glean I am thinking my EntityManagerFactory declaration may be misdirecting the finding of the Empdata schema in my new project. Here is how I declared my EntityManager in the example given:
private EntityManagerFactory emf = javax.persistence.Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("DvPersistPU");
     public EntityManager getEntityManager() {
          return emf.createEntityManager();
Here is the wizard generated method which fails with a NullPointerException in the return statement:
     @PersistenceUnit(unitName = "PersistPU")
     private EntityManagerFactory emf = null;
     public EntityManager getEntityManager() {
          return emf.createEntityManager();
Hopefully this will better help someone to direct me to determining the cause of my error or the error of my ways.
NullPointerException stacktrace just mentioned:

    Hi
    I could not complete the registration because the registrationprogram InetReg.exe crashes.
    The error is is displayed in a small dialog right after it has detected the soundcard: Exception occurs while creating thread.
    What is the problem? How do I find out what the problem is? How do I fix it's

    I have been mailing with Creatives technical support about this and other problems.
    It seems like they do not know what is causing them. They simply did the usual turn a lot of stuff off procedure in order to find out if something ruined the installation of the software. I have tried these things, and it didn't solve any of the problems with the software except that it finally enabled me to install one of the software modules that otherwise could not be installed.
    Try to search in Creatives forums for post from me, if you want to know more details.
    I have a feeling that I have to reinstall Windows XP again and install the Creative software on this clean installation of Windows. I think the problem is that some of the other software is in conflict with Creatives software, but Creative apparently do not know what that software is and neither do I
    Creative should investigate this.

    when defining a data source through the admin web page, don't add '!' in front of the password.
    ! is needed only when configuring a data source in the mapViewerConfig.xml file.

    Hi Paul,
    I also had the same error on one of my servers, and it was because the user that created the database no longer worked for the company.
    So when his AD account got deleted, the database had NULL as owner
    Using the following query I asked for the owners of the databases:
    select name, suser_sname(sid) from master.dbo.sysdatabases
    So changing the owner of the databases that had a NULL owner solved the issue for me.
    use <databasesname>
    go
    exec sp_changedbowner 'sa'
    Thanks for triggering the solution.

  • "An unexpected error occurred while creating a custom installer."

    All;
    I—and I've seen several others in older posts—have been reported received the error "An unexpected error occurred while creating a custom installer" while attampting to build a customer ARD client installer.  My guess is that this is do to a issue related to 10.8.X (10.8.4, in my case) based console Mac but I cannot confirm this. I have verified that there are no outstanding OS, client or application updates or hot fixes, as well.
    Has anyone built an successful installer from Mountain Lion-installed Mac?  Is there any know workarounds?
    Thanks in advance, for any help.

    Have the exact same problem.
    iMac running 10.8.4
    Got through the steps of creating a custom client installer.
    if I choose not to customize and just save an installer I don't get the error but it creates a file of Zero bytes in size.
    If I chose to configure, when I try to save I get:
    An unexpected error occurred while creating a custom installer. Please try again....
    Console log reports:
    9/1/13 12:32:29.603 AM Remote Desktop[1306]: open on /private/tmp/RemoteDesktopClientInstaller_HEATyAJ5CR/extracted/RemoteDesktopCli ent.pkg/Scripts/RemoteDesktopClient.pkg: No such file or directory
    I have tried to save this in several location, with no effect on the error or the information logged, with the exception of the name of the temp directory that DOES contains the file (zero bytes):
    RemoteDesktopClient.pkg
    Need help with this someone...!

  • No Data Shown because an error occurred while running the query

    Discoverer 10gR2 using Plus on Firefox:
    I have one workbook. The first sheet summarizes by Vendor. Parameters are Type, Category, Vendor (all optional) and mandatory date range.
    The second sheet summarized by Vendor and Model. Parameters are Type, Category, Vendor, Model (all optional) and mandatory date range.
    All parameters except the extra "Model" are shared between the sheets.
    When I run the Vendor sheet, parameters pop up, I put in dates and leave the rest blank. Results display. Yeah!
    When I then run the Model sheet, parameters pop up again (because it has one more parameter). Dates carry forward, leave the rest blank. I get the error No Data Shown because an error occurred while running the query. Refreshing does not help.
    If I click back to the Vendor sheet, then come back to the Model sheet, no parameter screen and the query runs.
    Booooo.
    Have tried multiple DBs, multiple EULs, multiple underlying data sources, replacing the offending parameter with a whole new one, no difference.
    Has any body run into this behavior? Is there an answer?
    -- Ron Olcott, Business Intelligence Product Manager

    What about trying this. On the parameter definition, you have a section on the bottom left of the Parameters window, called "Do you want to allow different parameter values for each worksheet?". When you say in your posting that all but the Model parameter is shared, I assume you mean that you have set this section value to "Allow only one set of paratmeter values for all worksheets". Try setting this to "Allow different parameter values for each worksheet". See if that might make a difference for you. If that works, you may have to leave the option at this, as the lesser of your evils. From my limited experience, the "Allow only one set of parameter mvalues for all worksheets" is a bit flaky in how it works. So I pretty much have gone to always saying to allow different parameter values for each worksheet. Hope this helps a bit. If worse comes to worse, if you have not done so already, log a service request with support and see what they say. Good luck.

  • Exception getting while creating a login page

    Hi,
    I am trying to redesign my portal's login screen. For that i have downloaded <b>"com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak"</b> file created a new portal application named <b>com.test.login</b> and imported the par file from com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak.
    I have exported the PAR file and deployed it to Portal. I checked <b>"<J2eeinstance>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd"</b> folder after upload and the file is there in the server.
    I have changed the <b>"authschemes.xml"</b> file accordingly. But when i restarted the cluster and called the login page, i got an exception like givel below,
    Portal Runtime Error
    <b>An exception occurred while processing a request for :
    iView : N/A
    Component Name : N/A</b>
    When i checked the log file, I found the exception logged as <b>"Could not instantiate implementation class com.sapportals.portal.ume.component.logon.SAPMLogonCertComponent of Portal Component com.test.login.certlogon because: Could not find implementation class "</b>
    <b><i>I didn't changed any files in the PAR file during developement. It is a copy of the original com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak file,</i></b>
    Can you please point out what could be missing in between?
    Best regards,
    Sudheesh

    Hi
       I got this error once. The problem is that while importing, the jar files don't get imported. Try including these two jars (umlogonbase.jar and
    com.sap.portal.runtime.logon_api.jar) from
    usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.portal.runtime.logon\lib
    and copy manually to the lib folder under PORTAL-INF in your project and then export your new par file.

  • Portal Runtime Error : An exception occurred while processing a request

    Hello friends,
    After upgradation of my portal to the following patch level, SAP J2EE 6.20:
    <b>Portal Version :</b> EP 6 SP 2 patch 29 hotfix 0
    <b>Content Mgmt and Collaboration  version</b> : 6 SP2 patch 5
    i faced many performance related issues. Portal seems to be <b>very slow</b>. After logging in, most of the time I get 2 errors:
    <b>Either</b>

    <b>Or
    2></b> Portal Runtime Error : An exception occurred while processing a request. Portal Runtime exception occured. Please check the System Log.
    But when I refresh that particular iview, it works fine.

    Time Machine Error: Unable to complete backup. An error occured while creating the backup directory.
    I back up to wirelessly to a Time Capsule. I get these errors often. I'll go for a few days with everything working and then encounter these errors. I've even completely erased the Time Capsule drive and started over. It'll work fine for a few days and then start the errors over again. Interestingly, when the errors occur, the Time Capsule drive can not be unmounted even if clicking the eject button. I am on 10.5.8 but it happened in 10.5.7 as well. I have another Mac that doesn't seem to have any issues with the same Time Capsule.
    Here's a log - they all seem to fail with similar errors:

    I used it as it came, supposedly formatted for a mac.
    It may or may not be right.
    I'd be inclined to start over, per #5 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
    If that doesn't help, go on to #C10, etc., in the Troubleshooting Tip, as in the previous post.
