An iView with access only to certain KM directory

Hallo,
I'd like to create an iView responsibile for showing certain KM directory. Access should be restricted only to this directory and its subdirectories. I'd like also enable users to change files located in these directories, creating new files, removing.. etc.
Is there an iView template or something? Thanks for any adivice.
Best regards,
Josef Motl

Darrell,
did you mean the KM Search iView? I can't locate KM explorer iView on my portal.
I don't know how to set starting and root directory in KM Search iView
Now, I found KM Navigation iView. You surely meant this iView.

• How to allow access only from certain IPs?

I have Portal Server 6.0 on Sun ONE Web Server and want to allow access to it only from certain IPs, i.e. if my IP differs from predefined, then access is denied (no page is opened).
How can I implement this with minimal efforts?
Thanks in advance!

Where did you set the ACLs?
When webclients connect direct to the portal/ids this is pretty straight forward using htttpacl files. When SRAP GW's are used for Internet portal access the web or app-server never sees the client IP thus those ACLs don't get applied.
Am I missing something (won't be the first time... or the last:-)
Cheers,

• External Facing Portal with access to ITS via Transaction Iview

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to make the portal available externally for third party vendors to access ECC transactions. We have configured a URL with a reverse proxy to the portal server. Portal loads fine from outside the network, but when launching a transaction I-view, a page cannot be displayed error comes up in IE-8 and Chrome says it cannot access the ECC server.
I've searched the forums and come up with a couple of tips, but that brings on a couple more questions.
It seems you can direct traffic from external URL to portal server:port, but when launching an transaction I-view, it needs to be redirected again to the ECC server:port/sap/bc/gui* (or something like that for SICF GUI service). Question here is, once this redirect happens, technically the ECC box is now available externally vs. only the portal? Is this recommended?
Other option I've found is to try and use IAC I-views instead. Is this really much different than a transaction i-view in how portal handles the opening Iframe? Does it allow backend connectios without rerouting internet traffic to the backend server?
Are they any other options to make this type of setup work for external facing portals using transaction iviews to access ITS?
Thanks for the help!

Hi
Did you able to resolve the issue. We have installed Web Dispatcher through we are able to call the EP but when calling the transaction iViews page not found error pops up, since from EP server request to ECC goes via the URL http://<ecchost.domain>.:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui?sap-client=100.
Thanks

• User with read only access on a schema - How?

Hi all,
I want to create a user with ready only access to a particular schema. The user should have only 'SELECT' option on all objects of the schema.

Thanks !There is no single command. You have to grant object privelges by object.
Use sql to write sql
connect <schema_owner>
spool doit.sql
select 'grant select on ' || table_name || 'to <selected_user>;'
spool off;Probably best if <selected_use> is a role instead of a specific user, then grant the role to whoever.

• DI API - accessing objects with Read only permissions

Scenario: I have setup a user in B1 with "Read Only permissions" on the Business Partner. When I log into the DI API as this user and try instantiating the BP object, I get a message "Loged on user does not have permissions".
Why am I getting this? Shouldnt I be able to instantiate the object and read the property values. i understand that I cannot Add or Update because of read only permissions.
Is there a way we can retreive values for users using the DI API or should the best option be to write a SQL statement.
Thanks,
Gopal

Requiring the user to have full authorization to instantiate an object is a serious limitation for the DI API. It makes it virtually useless. After all it is supposed to be OOP and all the trimmings isn’t it? It also takes a lot of control away from the user.
+1
Hi,
I have confirmation from B1 product definition, the DI API access for objects with Read only permissions will not be included in the 2007A version. It will be considered for the following version after 2007A.
There is a chapter called "Authorization Checks" in the SDK Help file specifying:
"SAP Business One performs authorization checks for the business objects and the infrastructure and meta data objects. If a user does not have full authorization to access the objects in SAP Business One, the user will not have permission to access the data belonging to the business objects using the DI API."

Trinidad.

Why this exception is occurring? Kindly help me with this, its a bit urgent!!!!

Hi
1. First create a user like readonlyweblogic using some password in Weblogic Console. In Weblogic Console itself, select this new user and go to his Group Memberships and add a Group named Monitors. This means this user has Monitor role for Weblogic Console. Monitor is a Read Only access role to the weblogic console.
2. NOW, with full admin privileges user, login into EM Console. Select soa_infra, right click mouse -> Security -> Application Roles. On right side, click green arrow and see list of Roles shown. Select the role named SOAMonitors, click on this. And add a User to this that is created above like "readonlyweblogic".
3. Close all the browsers. Open a new browser and test weblogic console and em console with this new user.
I have this setup like this in many envs and they all work fine. They are read only access users for admin console and em console.
Thanks

• I HAVE AN IPAD 2 WITH WIFI ONLY, CAN I GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM ANY SMARTPHONE, OR DO I NEED A SPECIFIC PHONE FOR THIS?

i ave an ipad 2 with wifi only, can i get internet access from any cell phone, or do i need a specific phone or type of phone

I received an iPad 2 for Christmas (the 1st Apple item I've ever owned!) and own a Nokia N95 8GB mobile (that's pretty much on its last legs/ready to die any day).
On the Nokia I've got 2 apps (downloaded from/via Nokia's 'Ovi' app store): JoikuSpot & HandyWi. Both are the free versions.
I've not used HandyWi much - if at all - but JoikuSpot has been great. Basically, it creates a wifi hotspot (as pjl123 mentioned) in a couple of straightforward steps, and allows a few devices to be connected. It displays who/what is connected at a given time - so you can check if the guy having coffee behind you is piggybacking your hotspot or not! - data packets sent received etc.
The paid version has the benefit of allowing you to secure the hotspot and other security features. Their website is www.joiku.com, FYI.
Given how slow behind the 8 ball Nokia has been, their phones are getting cheaper and cheaper - given Joiku's meant to work with Nokia S60, Symbian ^3, Maemo, Meego & Sony Ericsson S60, this might be a cost effective option.
Ps. Ah! One more thing - Joiku's website specifies that 3G must be used; that WAP will not work. Good luck, enjoy!

With iOS 7 and certain apps I get a message that ask me to connect to iTunes to receive notifications. After clicking "OK", it comes back repeatedly and freezes the App: Friends, Dropbox, among others. The only way to escape is to shut down and restart. I think this is a "bug" with older apps. How can I solve it in orther to use the apps? It doesn´t occur with my iPad, only with my iPhone 5.

Thankyou for your kind answer: with Dropbox, it solved the problem; with Friends, still the same

• How can I set up my devices where I share an account so that I'm the only one with access to gift card

How can I limit access to my iTunes gift card balance from others on iTunes account?

You have to sign out of the account in Settings>Store Apple ID. If those that you share the account with know your Apple ID and password, then it will do not good. Anyone with access to the account can spend the balance on the card.
Or you can set restrictions on the iPad so that nobody can unlock the device or restrict the downloading of apps. Anybody that you let share the device that knows your ID and password can spend the money on the card.

• User authentication for iView being access by URL

Hello,
We have an external facing Portal with 90% of our user base being from third-party vendors outside of the company. There is an issue with URLs being sent to users to login into the Portal and view certain iViews. The URL points to a specific iView and requires the user to log into the Portal, that iView calls a Web Dynpro application, and the Web Dynpro application calls an SAP function module to display the document to the user. The problem is the document displayed is specific to a certain customer/company, but no matter what id/password you log into the Portal with, you can see that document.
Here is an example of the URL:
https://<domain>/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=<pcd location of iview>&ApplicationParameter=%26link%3Dtrue%26<document number and date parms>%26mailid%3D<user mailid - also their portal id>
Is there anyway to secure this iView (or the Web Dynpro application) so that the only user that can log on and view this document is the user contained in the URL? We need this to keep users from being able to view data from other customers/companies in the event the URL is shared to someone else.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks for the suggestion. This would help in securing the iView so only users with that role can access it, but that would not keep other users from logging in and viewing another customers document.
For example, the URL contains userid [email protected] Currently any user with access to the Portal can login through the URL and view the document. Even with your suggestion, other users with the same role would be able to login. This is a security risk as we outsiders that could potentially view data from other customers. We need to secure the iView in some way where only [email protected] can log in.
Thanks!

• Blocking p2p or setting up a firewall to only allow certain programs?

Hello there,
I have a wireless dual-n router (WRT610N) and a cable modem (CM100) both from linksys.
My problem is that we live in an aprtment with 6 people and sometimes the connection crawls even with 2-3 people using the internet. My concern is that my roommates are file sharing like hell sometimes and eating all the bandwith. We're talking 20second to load the google main page slow, no person should be making the network that slow when it's just me and them using it.
So I'm interested in options to block access to bandwith killing activities. Friends have recommended that I set up a firewall and only permit certain programs access but I have no idea how to go about doing this. Another option would be if their was just a way to limit their bandwith, I already have my computer set with the highest prioriety on the network and it doesn't help.
Please let me know of any solutions you can suggest for this problem it sucks to be dishing out extra for highspeed internet + powerboost just to have all of fizzle away the second the connection hits the router.

You cannot limit their computer's bandwidth, however if you know what time they are using the bandwidth and downloading from Internet you may block the Internet access for them using the Access Restrictions, you can enter their MAC Addresses and schedule a time when you want to Deny Internet Access for them...

• Help with access control please

So I'm trying to set up my brother's PSP to the wirless network through MAC address timed access. What I want to do is make it so that he can only access it through certain times in the day. I'm having troubles with actually getting it to work. Everytime I set it up, the PSP only show's up as a DHCP client and not a Wireless client. I tried the option panel with the add wireless clients through the first try access. Could I get some help with this issue please? Thanks!

Just to calm your fears... There is no conspiracy. If someone had an answer or a suggestion they would post it.

• Issues with accessing HD on Time Capsule

I have a Windows 7 32 bit machine that I just built. I have a Windows XP system and a Mac Book Pro running Snow leopard. My XP and Mac are able to access the HD of my Time Capsule. My Windows 7 is having issues logging into the Time Capsule HD. When trying to log into the base station using the Airport Base Station Utility I get a message stating "Unknown user, incorrect password, or login is disabled. Please retypre the login information or contact the disk's administrator (86)." I have the AirPort Utility installed on my Windows 7 and am able to log into the settings to modify the settings of the Time Capsule. Does anyone have any insight as to how to assist me?

Note: Mac 3 had a single user on it, my son. He was the admin. I created a new non-admin acct and moved all his stuff there (Not sure I did it the right way so it took a long time.). Now I am admin on that Mac. Not sure if that is relevant here (leading to the problem identified above) but thought I would mention it.
Thanks in advance for your help.
The fact that you cannot access the backup now only on this Mac does suggest this is part of the issue. Did you do this before or after the issue with access?
Permissions can be pretty tricky things.. certainly to do backups or to retrieve them from an existing backup created with different user permissions might be a mess.. Pondini is perhaps the only one who can tell you the ins and outs of that.
On the more general note.. lots of people are having issues with USB drive on the TC from Lion.. for many it stops working forever the moment the disk spins down from a reboot.. making it useless.
But it is dog slow for everyone.. The reality is USB is less than half its native speed on the TC cf on the computer.. and it wasn't that fast to begin with.
Plug the hard drive directly into the computer and mount the sparsebundle and see if the TM then can access it.. but you might need to use your admin login not your son's.
Personally if the TC disk is not big enough.. replace the TC with a larger disk version.. or the disk in the present one.. do not use disks hanging off TC. It has enough reliability issues without adding to them.
