An Update for BlackBerry Maps is Seriously Overdue
I've been with BlackBerry 10 since day one with the Z10 and I've noticed that the BlackBerry Maps app never really gets any love. This is a bare bones app that has still not gotten the update it needs and I believe many of us feels it is time.
It seriously needs public transit directions and schedule updates and incorporating nearby POI when asked (much in line with what the BlackBerry Assistant does). I'm personally not a person who drives and prefers transit and I find this really frustrating not to have such a great feature built into this app.
The option to view in satellite and and a hybrid of the satellite and standard map view is also important.
Performance updates is needed as it is taking longer than usual for the app to load due to 10.3.1.
Please update the app soon if you want to attract more users.
I've used BeMaps Pro, Google Maps and Blackberry Maps in tandem at one point, but I just don't get why Blackberry doesn't do what Apple did for iOS, Nokia with Windows Phone and Google for Android. It's a native app and a no-brainer that should come standard on any smartphone eco-system!
It shouldn't be hard to provide an update these days, I mean, Blackberry should be able to figure it out why it hasn't been able to attract more new users and actually RETAIN them.
I get the fact that the bottom line for Blackberry is corporate base and security, but to really get them locked in, the native experience is really what matters the most. A user shouldn't need to rely on several apps just to do one thing. I'd say re-invest in TAT and Blackberry World, make it attractive and maybe even make it into a cash cow too.
I find Blackberry Maps more reliable than Google Maps, but am hesitant to say 100% simply because Blackberry Maps feels like Google Maps lite and so does other apps. I don't want to sound like a whiny fan, but please, the phone is supposed to make your life easier, not harder.

Turns out I don't see anything in Zambia except a few city names. No roads, nothing. Same for many other countries in Africa. I see roads and landmarks for South Africa, Nigeria, and some others, but that's it. If you see roads in Zambia then you are seeing more than me. I'm surprised at that.

Where is the update for BlackBerry 10.3??? Everybody has it but Verizon customer's. I'm not getting why we haven't gotten it yet.
They're likely too busy getting top down pressure to make Windows Phone #3 in the marketplace, even though, BB10 is far superior and people that truly use it, know it. Got a feeling, even VZW knows it, on the inside ;-).
Frustrate dedicated BlackBerry users enough, maybe they'll switch and BB will just go away...what they don't get is, won't happen, not here anyway. Heck, can't even find a BlackBerry device within sight in a VZW store around here. Have to first get through reps pushing/dealing crApple (sorry, not an NScrApple addict ;-)), then get through all the iPhone, iPad, etc super displays, then get through all the Droid, then get through all the Windows Phone displays, then you may find a BlackBerry buried in the back corner where no one is, and the reps have no idea how to use/promote the device to its fullest (we had to show them!). They don't even know what a Passort is when asked - yep, definitely up to speed on BlackBerry and in full support. Sad. Funny how BlackBerry rocks outside the US, even rated best OS, hmmm, so, what's the connection VZW? Who's demanding you bury BlackBerry BB10, and why are you obeying them?
If your support is sincere for BlackBerry BB10 and your BB10 customer base, get with the program and get 10.3 released to show that support! Talk of support is cheap, show it.
Maybe if the name were changed to iBerry?.......till then, all BB10 users will get is: "We know software updates are always exciting!", blah, blah, blah... -

I'm looking to make updates to Apple Maps more substantial than the built-in reporting tool for the app. Does Apple have a web-based reporting tool so I can track my request and/or discuss with a technician the best course of action? The building address for my companies location is incorrect and is currently not searchable on Apple Maps.
I've looked around on the community forums a bit, but the majority of threads are related to issues with the Maps application and not error-reporting resources.
Also there doesn't seem to be a category for Maps-specific issues, so I've selected the iPad community for such a question.

You can open a case ID with tech support in parallel just to have something to check up on, but it's likely not worth it since it probably won't be updated on their end.
In regards to that strange reply and link - Nobody at Apple had any idea what that site was or how that reply got to me. We looked up the bogus case number and it had nothing to do with what I had initially reported. I took all of the information I could and submitted it to Apple feedback (per recommendation from the AppleCare tech). If I get any more info on what exactly happened with the malicious emails I'll post it here. -

Software Update for Blackberry Curve 8530
I am using the Curve 8530 which I started using with Rogers not too long ago. My friend has the same phone and got it the same time but hers has the software v5.0 yet mine still has v4.6. I want to be able to upload the new software but for some reason I am unable to. When I try to update it it tells me I already have the latest version, yet I am the only one of my friends with this phone that does not have this new software. If you know anyyything, let me know please!
That's one way to do it... you could also do it Over The Air (Options - Advanced - Wireless Update) or you could download the file and install the update via Desktop Manager. One word of caution though... personally I recommend the OS 5.0 .459 update not the .654... There are many posts on many forums detailing why people have issues with .654 (I'm one of them and I downgraded from .654 to .459). Of note, loss of the manual standy feature and changing the keyboard lock methods, and the trade-off of battery life over reception.

Go to Solution.Recently there was a problem with an update of Maps. Maybe they haven't sorted yet. It would install and then crash. I always end up buying an after-market map system that runs on GPS using maps on board the SD card. Interesting, I'm going to Kazakhstan next month. How's the weather in September?

Just inquired with Bell if there was a new update for BlackBerry Link -- may I pass on a reminder to BlackBerry to put the notice out there... perhaps I just missed it. Possibly this is the Outlook syncing feature people have been talking about...
I had to call Bell to figure out how to download the Update -- they told me to go to ca.blackberry.com/ and babysat me through it -- you have to go to that main page, then click on Software at the top, then go down the page to the section on BlackBerry Link for OS 10, and click on the line "learn more about BlackBerry Link" and when on that page, click the button for Download for PC or Download for Mac... mine went smoothly. My Z10 was on at the time, connected to cellular and to the resident house WiFi, not connected to the computer but just sitting on a table nearby, and some kind of communication between the two I believe took place, what I don't know, or perhaps it was over the clouds...
Hint to BlackBerry: Maybe a line on the Link software itself as to how and where to update it? And some kind of thing on the web such as "Check for latest update for Link software" "How to update your Link Software" -- maybe those two exercises could be combined.... but the latest version number should be publicized on the BlackBerry websites, folks.... also don't hide the procedure away so effectively!!janetnewuser wrote:

Why does BlackBerry Maps search work so poorly? I type in something I want to find and items hundreds of km or miles show up before the results around me, even when the local results are exact matches.
I have not had this problem yet.
Their is a new update that was released today for blackberry maps.
"version: 10.1.0.790
See if its available to download yet in your blackberry app. if not probably give 24-48 hours for server to get updated.
It might help fix your issue.
