Analog cameras

I have three analog/digital capture cards and I can get one camera to show up but the second will not. If I switch the second camera to a digital camera all is well. Got any ideas as to how to trouble-shoot this issue? TIA

  • Placing an analog cam-film into an EXTERNAL Hard drive.

Thank you for the advice.  It solved my problem.
Now I have two more questions:
    1.  With a previous device I used for uploading an analog cam-film onto iMovies, I was asked to state what drive I wanted it placed in, as My iMac is hooked up to two external hard drives.  Elgato will not allow me to do this, as far as I can see.  Is there a solution, without having to move the movie from the internal HD to the external one?
    2.  I was once told that to complete the creation of the PROJECT from the EVENT, there was a further step, which would place a flay on the right-hand top corner of the project.  Could you elucidate please?

I am not sure which ElGato product you are using, but if you have the EyeTV 3 software, you can set the target drive in preferences.

    then change EyeTV Archive Location

  • Encoders for analog camera

hi experts should i use encoder (CIVS-SG1BECOD-FE
)to connect analog camera with my existing surveillance media server, or should i use decoder (CIVS-SG1BDCOD-FE
)to analog camera with my exiisting ip surveillance media server network.

You can use encoder for analog camera. Camera feeds originate from both IP-based and analog cameras attached to stand-alone encoders or analog gateways.

  • Analog Camera IP Camera

    I have two questions.
    1. I have bought WRT120N for Home Video Surveillance System with 4 WVC2300 cameras. Did I make a right choice?
    2. I have diffrent system at the same place. These are 4 regular (analog) cameras connected to the DVR. My question is: If there any devices exist that will allow these cameras to convert them to IP-cameras to be connected to the same router with wireless cameras hooked up.
    Thank you in advance.

Sure, they're called video servers. These are available in 1, 4, 8 or 16 camera configurations. They are quite expensive though. Here's a link to a 4 camera solution. http://www.supercircuits.com/search?keywords=video+server.

  • Captureing live analog cams

we are designing a site with 4 web cams (analog) video only. flash media live encoder 3 supports osprey capture cards. does it support WINNOV 004 VO OR WINNOV 4400  VO CARDS. IF SO WHICH ONE WOULD YOU RECOMMEND??? WE WILL BE STREAMING TO A HOST STREAMING SERVER.

If the card allows capturing in raw formats( rgb, I420, yuv, etc) then it should work with FMLE. Just check the specifications of the card.

  • DV Camera Analog Passthru control problems

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to Macs but have managed to convert all my Mini DV vids to DVD using iMovie/iDVD which I'm really happy with. However, now I'm trying to get all my old Hi8 tapes done and I'm having a few problems.
I have a Sony PC101 Mini DV camera which lets you have an AV passthru from my old analog camera through the DV camera and via the firewire into the Mac. The problem is though that when I click import in iMovie it tries to play the tape in the DV camera but I need the footage from the analog camera.
I did this on my XP PC once where I told the package to not control the DV camera so I could play the analog camera and just say import and it worked.
I can't see a way of doing this in iMovie HD so any ideas? If i take the tape out of the DV camera it won't let me import as it says it needs a tape.
    Help!!!

Some analog to DV converters don't work in iMovie HD 5.0.2 like they do in iMovie 4.0.1. Sad but true.
    1. For example, my Sony TRV320 can convert analog video to DV in passthrough mode in iMovie 4.0.1, but not in iMovie HD 5.0.2. Reportedly neither Sony DVMC-DA1 converter's, or Sony DCR-PC110, Sony DCR-HC30E, Sony TRV-340E, Canon ZR80, Canon ZR200, Canon MV630i or Panasonic NV EX3 camcorders' analog to DV passthrough work in iMovie HD 5.0.2 like it does in iMovie 4.0.1.
    2. It is also not possible to record live DV with no tape in the camcorder (i.e. the camcorder in Rec mode, so that what goes in the camcorder's lens, imports in real-time to iMovie) from a camcorder (Sony TRV320, for example) to iMovie HD 5.0.2 because iMovie complains "Camera No Tape". In iMovie 4.0.1 and BTV Pro this works OK with no tape in the camcorder.
Analog-to-DV workaround #1: Import using $20/40 BTV/BTV Pro or iMovie 4.0.1. Then import it to iMovie HD or, to save time and HD space, drop the .dv file in the Media-folder.
Analog-to-DV workaround #2: (This worked with my Sony TRV320 with iMovie HD 5.0.1 but not anymore with v5.0.2). Put a tape in the camcorder and press the camcorder's PLAY-button to play the tape in VTR mode (usually the tape must be OUT when doing analog-DV conversion!), then in iMovie hit the Import-button (so iMovie starts to import from the tape), then press the camcorder's STOP-button. iMovie should then continue importing from the analog source as usual.

  • Bad audio connection on P-35 Platinum moBo, while capturing analog video?

Before I give up, I'm reaching out to MSI and any persons suffering from out-of-sync audio and video capture issues while using Pinnacle Studio Video editing software. Studio Ultimate HD v.14.
I've posted numerous inquiries to the Pinnacle Support team, the Pinnacle Forum site, as well as the GrassValley (Canopus 110 or 300, I was thinking about trying that) and really never got anywhere.
A few people had mentioned maybe the sync issue could be caused by a bad analog signal and it will drop video or audio frames hence the sync problem. Bringing the video into the capture mode in Studio is fine, but the audio has about a 6 second latency delay, which never recovers.
Could it be the REALTEK HD Sound Audio on my P-35 MoBo, maybe bad? I play music, and everything else coming out of my speakers sound fine, it's just the syncing issues with a PCI device that never locks in both the Video with the audio, because there are two different incoming devices.  Analog camera video-out to PCI Video-IN, and audio out from analog camera to onboard, MoBo Realtek audio input.
The PCI-500 capture that originally came with my first Studio product (Studio movieboard 12.1) has NO Audio RCA input, only FireWire, S-video, and Video IN and OUT)

I use the MSI Live Update 4 to update drivers, BIOS, VGA,and Utilities. This system is about four years old.  I'm just afraid to flash or update BIOS, thinking I could screw things up.
So I guess  my question here is to ask, if maybe the audio input jack on my P-35 Mobo could be defective?  Thank you!

Have you try out with a standalone add on sound card? Sometimes, sync problem can be due to processing power or RAM space needed for rendering and merging.

  • Hi8 Cam doesn't play my tape thru canopus...

    Hello all,
Yes, yet another question from Benny P. My project I am working on now required me to get the Canopus ADVC product. The project I am doing is being done at different locations. It's a high school video that was shot by one of the parents, who obviousily wasn't up to date with technolog. It was shot in Angalog video (WHY?!?!?!?). So I buy this Canopus ADVC-110 and have previous tapes that play thru the camera I'm using. I'm using a Sony, and the tapes I'm trying to capture from were shot from a different camera.
I did this same video last year, when I hadn't been relocated, and I used the parent's camera who shot the games with. This camera is a rare (or atleast I've never seen anything like it before) Analog camera. It has a FireWire port and I used it last year to capture from using the FireWire iLink port it supports in FCP.
I get the tapes this year, playing them on a different camera from which they were shot in. I insert them into my capture camera and I get a fuzzy screen with black and white grains. Tried playing the tape thoroughly and there is not video. I am positive the video was recorded and was played back previously (at least that's what I was told).
So I'm going crazy right now. I feel like the converter I bought was a waste and is not useful. So, I'm wondering if there's anything else I could do to capture without the camera.
I was thinking buy a VHS tape that you can insert the analog tape in and you can play it with a VCR. Is there anyway I could use this to capture?
This is really confusing. This is first project I've had so much trouble with, (WHICH IS CLEARLY CAUSED BY TRYING TO EDIT ANALOG FOOTAGE!), as I usually edit in SD and HD footage.
If you could pass on any advice or ideas for me that would be amazing right now. Lost post I know.
    Thanks so much,
    -benny

    Benny,
As Studio X has already alluded to, there are three video formats that use 8mm tape; 8mm (aka Video8), Hi8 (aka High Band 8mm), and Digital8 (DV25 format - the same format as used with DV/DVCam/DVCPro)). 8mm and Hi8 are analog video formats, while Digital8 is, naturally, a digital video format. A Digital8 camcorder can record a Digital8 signal to Hi8 tape. The tape itself is neither analog or digital - its a metal particle (or metal evaporated) tape formulation. It's the type of signal that was recorded to tape that determines if the recording is digital or analog.
Since the camcorder does have a Firewire (aka iLink, IEEE1394) connection, it is obviously a Digital8 camcorder. Digital8 camcorders can playback Digital8, Hi8 and regular 8mm video. They can record a Digital8 signal to Hi8 tape.
There is NO known 8mm-to-VHS adapter. Perhaps you're thinking of the VHS-C-to-VHS adapters which are/were available just about everywhere.

  • How to convert Hi8 to iMac? Have 2 video cameras: Sony CCD-YRV98 video Hi8 and Panasonic SDR-SW20 digital video. Please provide the steps to convert to iMovie '11. Also, is there a way to burn in blu-ray?

I already have two video cameras. One older (Sony) in Hi8 and the less older one (Panasonic) which is digital. Between the two can it be accomplished to transfer the Hi8 video on tapes to iMovie?
I have the newer iMac 21.5" and also would like to know if it is possible to record this on blu-ray. The iMac didn't come with iDVD, which means I have to get that uploaded. Any other suggestions?

    Sony Hi8 camcorder
No it is an Analog Camera - and have NO Digital-Out
I may be made a Wrongful assumption in that the - Panasonic digital camcorder - was a Digital 8 Camera.
If it is - it has a Digital Out (FireWire) and can playback the Hi 8 tapes from the other Camera.
If it is a miniDV Camera - it also have a FW-out (Digital out) - BUT can not play Your Hi 8 tapes.
Then there are not so many ways to do this.
If Your Panasonic digital camcorder - Has Analog in RECORDING ( not all have this, it was an EXTRA Cost ! ) - Then You can playback from the Hi 8 Camera to this and record onto a miniDV tape - to be played and Captured/Imported into Your Mac.
The Panasonic digital camcorder - Might have a feature - Play trough - that makes it possibly to use it as an Analog - Digital bridge - some can do this - But You've not told the exact type/no: etc - So I can not guess.
If this still do not work (The Panasonic digital camcorder do not have an Analog in connection/function)
    - Then You need an Analog/Digita Converting box - from Hi 8 to this A/D-box then to Mac via FireWire.
There are several types and prices - I got a fairly expensive box due to that I've lot's of old VHS tapes in even bad quality. And this - Canopus ADVC-300 - has a function - Timebase Correction - that helps a lot in regard to drop outs and Audio slowly going out of sync. I just keeps perfect even over several Hours of VHS-tapes.

  • Importing problems (hi 8 camera-capture device-imovie)

i am importing from an old canon es3000 hi-8 (analog) camera, through a miglia "director's cut" capture device, to imovie (via firewire) ... there is fragmented line at the bottom of the frame in imovie during import. will that show up in idvd later? also, the imovie is not seperating the clips, so i end up with one long clip. after about 10 minutes the digital footage in imovie becomes fragmented throughout the frame. does anybody know why this is happening? thanks in advance, R.B.

  • USB Camera and Low level VIs

    Hello all,
I am beginner in LabView and I am seeking help for the following:
I need to adapt a vi using a regular (analog) camera so to start using a USB camera instead. When I viewed the block diagram (which is really complicated for me) I noticed that the original programmer used the low level IMAQ VI's (e.g. IMAQ intil.vi and IMAQ configure Buffer.vi) to communicate, control and acquire images from the camera. Now, I am really confused, does these VIs work with all cameras? If not can I replace them with the IMAQ USB VIs'? How would this affect the other VIs that depends on the out come of the replaced ones? Finally, I would be glad if anyone can point out things to read so to acquire more knowledge about this subject?
I know I asked much but really I want to learn these things as fast as possible
    Best Regards
    Mohammed

    Hello TomBaum,
First, thanks for responding, really appreciate it.
Sorry that I cant send the Vi itself yet I have attached a picture of the part
that I want to modify (red rectangle).
All I want to do is using USB camera instead of the one used now! so does
these  low level VIs work with the USB camera
or I should use the USB camera VIs which will mean that i will end up with many
broken wires since low-level VIs has
different number on inputs that the USB camera VIs
Hope this can give you an idea.
P.S. in case you will wonder about the sequence structure; it is  only the
camera setting that I am interested and it is the one shown in the
    structure
All the broken wires in the picture are going into a very larg while loop with
    many other VIs.

  • Grab images from a IP camera

    ---BACKGROUND---
We have very little experience with programming for the LabView, but good experience with programming in general.
    ---SETUP---
In one end we have the newest LabView (8?) that is connected to several OPC driven PLSes.
In the other end we have a piece of custom hardware that grabs images from several analog cameras (surveillance machine)
We need to send the image from the surveillance machine to the labview
software as easily as possible. We have access to the sourcecode for
the surveillance machine to writing a custom protocol to send images is
no problem, the problem is the labview end.
My question is if there is a way to make labview connect to a machine
and download images from it, the exact protocol is no problem since we
can customize the hardware completly, a llI need is a connection where
    images come streaming to it.
    If not then maybe there is a way to program the labview to do the following;
Connect to a machine on the internet
Send commands to the connected machine
Receives images in a loop until connection is broken
Hope anyone got any clues as to what I am trying to accomplish here.
    Thanks in advance

    nyc thanks for your time,
Here is my code, along with the C# example code from the vendor.
FYI the sample code from the vendor did not work on the customers machine either, just showed a black screen. I installed VS2010 Express C#.NET on the machine to test if I could grab images from the vendors example and no joy....didnt work.

  • Hello, how can I interface a princeton ccd camera (microscope camera) with labview??

    Hello,
Im trying to connect my microscope cam to labview, but Im getting started with labview,
my camera is managed by  a software called win view and it works; but I'm trying to control the camera by labview.
what's the way to allow labview to see my cam??
    best regards

    Hi Marcio,
it is important to have right information on the hardware you are using. in particular which is your camera type (FireWire, analogic, Camera Link, GigaEthernet, USB) and if you have the drivers of your image acquisition board.
Have you got LabVIEW Development System only? Which version? Do you have others NI LabVIEW Modules or NI Softwares (for instance NI Vision)?
    I'm waiting for your news.
