Analog readings on PCI7332 motion card

I am using three analog inputs with a single axis open loop strpper. channel1,3,4
Channels 1 & 3 work fine, but channel 4 doesn't. First of all it seems too drag the input from 3volts to .8voltd I have an Analog Device
5B Islation amp connecting signal to channel 4.  When you increase the signal the reading of the read goes from 317 to 850.
the channel is configured for 0-5 volts. what am I doing wrong.

What happens if you connect the signal that is currently attached to
channel 4 to another channel (1 or 3)? Do you see the problem now with
the other channel? In this case you should check your signal and the
signal conditioning.
If you can't reproduce the problem with the same signal and another
channel you should contact your local National Instruments branch as
the board probably needs to be repaired.

  • Using PXI 7352 Motion card and 6025E DAQ

    Dear Sir,
I am using SCXI 1520 along with PXI 1011 & E Series DAQ (6025E) to measure the Load Value of a load cell. I am also using PXI 7352 Motion card to control the velocity of a Plunger. Now my requirement is to stop the movement of the Plunger depending on the value I read from the load cell. I am not able to achieve the stoping accuracy for high speeds (around 150mm/sec) in the software. Can it be possible with the use of Motion Control card and RTSI signals? If so, how can I do that? (I am not used any limit switches as the load value at which the Plunger should stop is user programmable and I am using DAQ card in Multiplexed mode because i am reading more number of analog inputs with only one DAQ card)

    Hello.
Based on your post I am guessing that you are performing the control in software, i.e. starting a velocity move, and then reading the load cell until it reaches a threshold, then stopping the motion. As such you are essentially limited by the software control loop rates.
You are using PXI so it is possible that you are using real-time. If not, one solution could be to implement a real-time application that would be more deterministic, but again this would still depend on the software.
Depending on your system (stepper or servo), you could implement a direct analog feedback into the motion card itself, but this would require a signal which has a range much greater than your load cells. This is only a good option for servo axes. If this was somehow possible, you can tell the motion controller to move to a specified LOAD instead of a specified position/velocity. Provided you could appropriately condition the signal, this is the best choice.
Unfortunately, you cannot implement limit switches/etc over RTSI, so I believe that this will not be a good option.
A third, and probably most un-desireable option, is to output a voltage on the PXI-6025E proportional to the load received from the load cell. This voltage could then be used as the analog feedback for your motion device. This, however, still adds the software layer of delays.
I hope these ideas help you out.

  • Using Scope card with Motion card

    Sir,
In my application of Non-Destructive Testing of tubes using Ultrasound, I am using a motion card for controlling the motion of the Ultrasound probe (that runs with stepper motor)using the motion card. This probe moves all over the specimen under test. I am using Scope card to get the data from the probe and display and storing the waveform. Now I am moving the Probe step-by-step manner by specifying the step-increment and acquiring the data. Is it possible to acquire the data if i move the probe in the continuous manner by specifying the speed and end position alone? What are all the things i should take in to consideration to get and store the data efficiently?
    Kindly help me regarding this.
    Thanks,
    Ramkumar. D

From the standpoint of the Scope card there should be no issues with measuring the data continously. There are several LabVIEW shipping examples that you could take a look at.

  • Remotely controlling a NI motion card

    Hi all.
Due to specific hardware incompatibility, I would like to use a
Pentium3 as a host for my instrumentation, and a Pentium4 which
connects remotely (on the same LAN) to this P3 and controls the
    instrumentation.
The instrumentation is a pci NI 7334 card and other not-NI hardware.
Now I'm trying to do this by using th P3 as a realtime target (as
    mentioned here
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/CB3434DA94466DD286256E9E006BB775?OpenDocument),
    but I was wondering:
    - if it's the best solution,
-if the RT allows me to control other not-NI hardware launching other
    server programs,
-and if there's something like the Remote Device Access (RDA) also for
    the NI motion cards.
    thanks.

There is no NI-Motion 6.9.3. It looks like you have only installed NI-DAQ but this driver supports only data acquisiton devices but no motion controllers. You will need to download and install NI-Motion (latest version is 7.0). I have just tried downloading the driver and it works fine. If there is a problem with the download please contact your network administrator.

  • Error when generating waveform analog output on NI 6704 card

Hi, I am trying to understand why NI 6704 card appears to be incompatible with what I'm trying to do.
I want to use a waveform to generate an analog output voltage on a NI 6704.
I have a vi in the style of the waveform buffer generator in this example:
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/4837
which creates the waveform. In my main routine I attempt to create and write a DAQmx ao task using the waveform information, but get this error:
    Possible reason(s):
Requested value is not a supported value for this property. The property value may be invalid because it conflicts with another property.
    Property: SampTimingType
    Requested Value: Sample Clock
    You Can Select: On Demand
    Task Name: _unnamedTask<7D>
According to documentation the 6704 has no onboard memory... but it's not clear to me how the DAQmx functions are actually sending the data to the card, i.e. if they are attempting to read and store the waveform buffer on to the card, it the lack of memory on the card could be my problem. Is is correct that that is part of my problem? Or since the error has to do with the sample timing clock, is my problem that the 6704  uses software timing?
I've run my program successfully on an NI 6225 card... are there any work arounds for generating such an output on a 6704?
    Thanks in advance!

The error has everything to do with software timing. Your device does not have a hardware clock so you get an error when you try to configure it. To output a waveform, you have to do out one point at a time. You can only do this at a low frequency and it will have considerable jitter.

  • Audio unsynced with video when capturing analog HD with Kona LHe card!

    Hey,
This is kind of an emergency because i am in the process of logging a feature film. I am using the Kona LHe card to capture analog audio and video with the JVC BR-HD50 HDV deck. It is 720p24 HDV footage converted to analog DVCProHD 720p59.94 footage through the Kona. My issue is that the audio is about 4 or 5 seconds unsycned with the video...I am also getting some audio popping. The audio sounds fine when listening through the line mixer but it pops when i play back though FCP. I already contacted AJA (the makers of Kona) and they its a FCP problem...Any prompt help would be greatly appreciated...
    -JE

    Welcome to the forums!
What version of FCP are you running? If you can, get to the most current version as this solves a lot of issues with the DVCPRO HD codec.
And have you read this whitepaper?

  • Analog input(sound) to SD card Module NI 9802 using cRIO 9023

    Hi,
I am using cRIO 9023 ,NI 9802, NI 9215 and NI 9269 modules, I have acquired an analog input from the module and give it to the Analog output module, the output which I have taken is an audio signal(sound *.wav file) and want to save this output to the SD card module. I am unable to create the wav file in the RT cRIO and that's why I am facing problem in saving the data into the SD card.
    I have the followig queries:
How can I convert the output to wav file which I have already acquired from the output module.
How can I save the converted wav file into the SD card module.
If anybody have already worked and have some knowledge kindly share with me.

  • 1 Analog Input using a DAQ card and would like to save the data into an excel file

As you may have realized, I am very new at using Labview 6.1. I have an analog voltage input that I would like to save in an Excel file as a 2D array (time, voltage). I was wondering if anyone knew a very simple way of doing this and could help me out. Thanks

There are a couple example program online and in LabVIEW that I think you’ll find useful. You might want to consider just writing out a tab-delimited spreadsheet file that Excel can read rather than writing it out to Excel directly as this requires learning ActiveX and Microsoft’s Common Object Model.
In LabVIEW, see the Write to Text File.vi in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\examples\file\smplfile.llb. Writes simulated, timestamped data to a text file in ASCII format that can be read by spreadsheet applications.
    Online, you can look at:
Stream Scaled Data (Voltages) to a Spreadsheet File
Chart Analog Data from File, Using the Cont Acq to Spreadsheet.vi Example
Hope this helps. Best of luck!

There are a lot of shipping examples for DAQmx. Once you open the example finder (Help>Find Examples), use the 'hardware' listbox at the bottom to find all of the examples that pertain to a 4472.

  • How can I save the modulation I apply to an instrument during recording such that it remains during playback?

How can I save the modulation I apply to an instrument during recording such that it remains during playback? For example, I apply modulation #8 during recording, but when I play the track back the modulation is not incorporated.

    Hi Vlad,
Unfortunately, I don't think there is a way to programmatically read the voltage output to the drive, as the voltage is all determined internally by the controller circuitry on the board. Depending on the controller though, you may be able to physically route the output terminal to a spare analog input channel and read in the voltage that way. This example Analog Input with 73xx Motion Card shows you how to program LabVIEW to do this.

  • How can I monitor the voltage output sent to each servo axis programmatically?

Hi I am wondering if it is possible to monitor the voltage that's being sent to a servo motor during an axis position movement (in particular quantities such as max voltage). I am using a PID controller to drive this servo motor.
    Thanks

  • Has anybody used motion control card like a CNC contol with G-codes with part program editor?

I have to use national instruments PXI 7344 motion card to substitute a CNC control that uses G-codes and M-codes in a part program . I need to know if some body has already developed such an application and also developed a part program editor.

ABMSoft - an NI alliance member in Eastern Europe has developed a very powerful G-code interpretor for LabVIEW. Their ABMS-NC toolkit for LabVIEW also includes an offline simulation tool. They have successfully deployed many machines using this toolkit. Its available directly from ABMSoft for $995. You can contact ABMSoft directly.

  • PXI question: four analog ouput cards to start-trigger simultaneously

    Hi all,
    Here's the situation:
We have built a system that ouputs 24 analog signals using a PXIE-1073 chassis.  It has 5 slots:
    Slot 1:          Internal
    Slot 2:          Empty
    Slot 3:          Empty
    Slot 4 (Hybrid): PXI-6733
    Slot 5 (Hybrid): PXI-6733
    Slot 6 (Hybrid): PXI-6733
As you can see, it has three analog output cards, which occupy all three of the hybrid slots.  And we have two empty slots.
Our LabVIEW code is designed to output analog signals on all three cards (at the same rate) using three DAQmx tasks which start-trigger simultaneously.  To do the triggering, we setup two of the tasks to start-trigger off of the first task (master-slaves style).  In this manner, we can get all outputs to start at the same time.  Its actually quite simple.
My question:  I want to add another output card.  But I am fairly I can only use hybrid slots for my application.  I remember working with NI and they told me I had to use the hybrid slots to be able to get the triggers routed automatically along the backplane.  Our code actually failed (error) when we used the non-hybrid slots (I forgot the error code).
Is there any way to add another PXI-6733 and have it trigger with the other cards?

I can't speak to the chassis, but I'd warn you that if you want your tasks sync'ed, you'd better share a sample clock too and not just a start trigger.  The onboard clocks will have a tolerance (often ~50 ppm, dunno for your 6733's)  and their sampling instants will drift apart from one another over time.  In fact, I rarely both with triggers at all for syncing tasks & boards.  I'll usually *only* share a sample clock, and then make sure I start all the slave tasks before the master whose sample clock is being shared.
Good luck on your real question though...

  • PXI 7344 motion controller as a DAQ device for ELVIS

    Hi,
Is there a way to reconfigure a PXI-7344 motion controller with its two 68-pin connectors so as to use it as a DAQ device that would receive the signals from a NI ELVIS workstation. The 7344 has a "motion I/O connector" and a "digital I/O connector". Analog outputs are even possible if I remember well, as well as digital.
    Thanks

    Hello,
The card does has some analog input and outputs. I would check the manual here: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/370838b.pdf. The DAQmx API with a DAQ card is going to be much better than interfacing with a motion card, but you should be able to read off it at the least.

  • Is there and easy way for Position control using analog input?

    Hi Everyone,
I would like to set one of the axis with stepper motor using analog feedback to keep the set position which is coming from the analog input.
In other words I would like the stepper to move when the analog input changes. I need it as a "background service" so the rest of the motion could be easily controlled from the NI-Motion Assistant.
Is there any easy way to do this? Even complicated is ok but the control should be done by the NI Motion card not the PC processor.
    Thanks,
    Andras
