Android remote/gmote with openjdk6/7

Preamble: fancy sitting on the couch and changing music/video/whatever without having to get up? Do it with your android. If interested, read on...
So I've checked gmote and all the others in the AUR but they don't play nicely with openjdk (tried both 6 and 7). With Oracle's java living in the closed world these days it would be nice to have gmote's functionality work with the open version of java.
I'm no coder but am willing to learn. The choice out there, however, is bewildering to me - I literally can't see the wood for the trees
I'm not sure whether this is a good project for a complete noob, but if some kind soul could point me in the right direction and is not too bothered if I bump into trees at regular intervals I'd be willing to give it a go.

According to your description, it could be compatibility behaviors on Android systems for remote Apps.

The Andorid app actually controls the volume for the STB, not the TV itself, but by controlling the STB volume (if the audion soung option is set properly) you can control the TV sound. Apparently you have the Volume Control setting set to "Fixed" not "Variable" in the STB Main Menu --> Settings --> Audio --> Volume Control option. With the Variable setting the Android app controls the sound level for me.

Unable to pair Apple Remote App with iTunes

I am running a Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5965 with Windows Vista SP 2. My iTunes software is 8.2.1.6, and my iPhone 3GS is running OS 3.0.1 (7A400). Both the Satellite and iPhone are connected to the same WiFi local network, and yet the App "Remote" by Apple Software is unable to communicate with iTunes to allow the entry of the four digit code to establish control of the iTunes library. Shortly after purchasing the iPhone 3GS I purchased the Satellite, but in the couple of weeks between the purchases the Remote App worked fine on my Gateway running Windows XP SP2. I have been through Apple Telephone support twice, and have really run one of the technicians through the mill researching possible solutions. I have visited an Apple Store Genius, who could find no reason for the problem. The iPhone and Remote App worked perfectly well on the store's WiFi and Mac, but his iPhone also wouldn't work with my laptop. I have been through Kaspersky's technical support system to ensure that there isn't a firewall issue. They have assured me, after reviewing logs from my laptop, that this is not the case. I even went so far as to uninstall all my Kaspersky product, but the Apple Remote App still would not function properly. I have updated the router's firmware, and checked that the laptop's wireless card is running the latest driver. At this point I can't think of anything else to try but would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Steve

Monday 7th Jan.
Just to say that Apple did call me this am to discuss the problem on foot of a call I made last week.
In the meantime the remote worked with both a 2007 IMac and a 2009 laptop but not on the m-mini.
When I tried pairing this morning during the call by pressing Menu and next together it paired.
The change is very subtle, it just says paired in the advanced section of the security et sl section as referred before, with a fleeting 2 intersecting rings icon.
The big difference is that Front Row is gone....
The remote only works to a limited degree within some apps such as iTunes and iPhotos.
In theory it controls the volume in iTunes but as of now for me it doesnt....:( need to look more.
As to what the problem was:
It seems there is a set of keyboard combinations that can be used to force a reset the ID of the remote, the suggestion is MAYBE that by getting it to work on the iMac and laptop in some way reset the ID.
This stuff is WAY beyond my skill level:)
I did impress upon Apple the need to look at the issue in threads like this....

Remote app with Apple TV

I use the Remote app with both an iPad and iPhone to control my first gen Apple TV. This works fine except for one thing. When I select "Apple TV" as the library, using an iPhone I have access to all my library including Podcasts. When I run the same app on my Ipad, still selecting "Apple TV" as the library, no Podcasts come up on the iPad to select - the category is completely missing.
Has anyone else seen this issue ? Are they still there but hidden somewhere else ? Bear in mind I keep no content on the Apple TV - it is effectively just acting as a wireless device to get the signal to my TV.

Literally nothing happens. I click the done button and hear a beep. Over and over again.
On the phone, the passcode is still displayed.

Why isn't my remote working with my Apple TV?

I have had my Apple TV a while now and I noticed a while back that the remote wasn't working with my TV. I assumed that I needed to replace the batteries so I downloaded the Remote app with my iPhone. Once I replaced the batteries, the remote still didn't work with my Apple TV. I reset my Apple TV to factory settings the other day because I noticed that my newer music that I had purchased recenlty wasn't showing in my music. Once I reset it, there was a screen that came up to set the TV up again but since I can't use the remoted I can't choose English as my language. In small writing at the bottom, it says I can use my iPhone or iPad as a remote by searching for my Apple TV in the bluetooth settings. When I try that on my iPhone and iPad neither of them show the TV as being able to pair with it. Has anyone else had a similar issue or can think of anything that I can do? I tried holding the Menu and left keys, I have held just about all the keys for more than 6 seconds and nothing ever happens. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

You can use your IOS device to do initial setup on an Apple TV, but you won't be able to use it as a remote as that also requires home sharing to be enabled. I would take it to Apple to test the remote and/or get a replacement.

If I were to purchase the Apple Remote Desktop with Unlimited licenses, would I be able to install the client software on each of there computers/laptops and have them remote desktop into the server?

I have several friends and family who are looking for a central place to access information from ( Pictures, home movies etc ). So I am considering setting up an OSX Lion Server. There are some other things I can use it for as well.
Here is my question:
If I were to purchase the Apple Remote Desktop with Unlimited licenses, would I be able to install the client software on each of there computers/laptops and have them remote desktop into the server? Or would I have to install the Admin software on each? Do they intend it to be used strictly as one admin to access many clients?
I always could set up a network drive so they can log in and just see the folders they have created with space on the server I provide them. But I want them to be able to log an and actually use it as a Remote Desktop.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand that ARD is meant for Remote Administration, but I was not sure if it could be used for my purpose as well. The reason I was looking to do it this was was because I read several articles online about security and performance issues with setting up VNC and activating screen sharing. Unless I am misunderstood.
As far as people's activities on the server, mostly it is going to be used as a place for them to store their media. I will only allow own person ( Who I trust and I know wont botch the server ), to run applications. Everyone else will be restricted to uploading and downloading content to their designated account on the server as well as a community share on the server.

How can you run a command with elevated rights on a remote server with invoke-command ?

I am trying to run a script on a remote server with invoke-command. The script is starting and is running fine, but the problem is that it should be running with elevated rights on the remote server. On the server where I start the invoke-command, my account has the necessary rights.
The server were I launch the invoke-command is a W2K8 R2. The remote box is a W2K3 with powershell v2.0 installed.
When I launch the script on the remote-box from the command line, I don't get the access denied's.
Is there a way to do this ?

The script that I want to run is to install the windows updates. I get an access denied on the download of the updates.
When I execute the script on an W2K8 box, (not remotely) and I run it with non-elevated rights, I get the same error.
The script is running fine when it is launched on W2K3 box locally with a domain account that has local admin rights, or on a W2K8 R2 server with a domain account that has local admin rights, but with elevated rights.

Remote Site with its own CUCM Sub#2 and Router network failed and the site didnt keep its phones active, need some assistance

I have a Pub and 2 Sub's. Sub #1 is with the Pub, at the main site it is our TFTP server, Sub #2 is at a remote site with about 100 users along with a router and 2 PRI's for outbound calls. We had a network failure between the main site and the remote site and all phone lost their registration with the system until we were able to get the network back up. Currently the network is up in a crippled state on a 1 T-1 link while we troubleshoot the bigger issue with our 6mb pipe, however Sub #2 and its associated router arent talking with the PUB or other Sub. I'm still getting alerts every 30 minutes stating they are the server is down. I'm sure once the network is corrected this will bring everything back on line. My question is how can I prevent in this in the future. I need this site to be stand alone if the network goes down again. I was told by our vendor that if we had a subscriber at each site then we would need SRST licensing. I know something needs to be configured to make it all work, I'm just not sure what.

I already have a group at the site but it includes both the Pub and Sub from the main site as well as the Sub from the remote site. I would only have to remove the Sub from the main site, problem is I currently only have 1 TFTP server it runs on SUB #1, should I make SUB#2 a TFTP server as well and the phones are setup for DHCP at the main site, I'm going to need to have a DHCP server setup at the remote site as well. Correct?

I was using "remote" with a D-link modem, that works fine at my iPad. But now I´m using only the cell phone as modem 3G, and don´t want to intall a router to put new cables at my notebook.

Unable to syndicate same Remote System with differnt value

Hi,
I am working on MDM 7.1 SP05 and I have the following issue with syndication:
I have a remote system table (Key Enabled) with System as Non-Qualifier and value as Qualifier and I have values in the MDM Datamanager as
MDM ID, Remotesystem (Multivalue Qualifier Table with Key Enabled)
111,((Qual1-Key,Val1),(Qual1-Key,Val2),(Qual1-Key,Val3))
When I syndicate I see only one value as 111, (Qual1,Val3)... But I want to have all the Qualifiers-Key with multiple values.. Where as in MDM 5.5 I can see all the Qualifiers with out any issues..Is this a restriction in MDM 7.1?
If I map System instead of Remote Key of Qualifier Table then I can see multiple times of same remote system with appropriate values.. But If I map remote key then I see the consolidated/the latest system-remote key wiht value... But I want system-remote key value appear multiple times...

This Apple remote requires a dock since this remote uses IR and the iPod does not ha IR capibility,.

WIn 7 PRO to Win 7 PRO Remote Desktop with matching 1920x1080 Dual Monitors

I have done quite a bit of looking and still do not know if WIn 7 PRO can connect to a to Win 7 PRO with Remote Desktop with matching 1920x1080 Dual Monitors. It seems like it cannot use dual monitors by the HELP file. But
then why does it have "Use all of my monitors for the remote session" as a selection in the Connection settings ? Just what is the real answer ? Both systems are 64 bit. If the answer is YES. Please tell me how !

To use this Remote Desktop Multimon feature, you must:
1.Connect using the Remote Desktop Client 7.0 (mstsc.exe) available initially on Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2.
2.Enable Multimon using one of the three methods described below:
a. Click “Use all monitors for the remote session” in the client (mstsc.exe) window.
b. Use the “/multimon” switch on the mstsc.exe command line.
c. Add “Use Multimon:i:1” to the RDP file.

3.Connect to a computer running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
