Animated Progress Bar issues

I am working with the animated progress bar from the late Carl Backstrom's demo applicaiton but to my amazement, the bar refuses to animate unless the javascript is triggered from a button press. This is not really acceptable for my purposes as I need to have it fire and work though an onLoad on the body attributes. Any Sugestions? I know some people are going to probably say ExtJS and JQuery but our development rules here will not allow us include either of these libraries at this time.

It is actually an intermediate page with a PL/SQL process that runs on submit to cache database information from a remote db. I actually have a button on another page that routes into the page in question so that I can clear everything in the background to prevent people from being able to go to another page while loading process is under way. The way I have it setup now is you click a button to start a multistage process and you are taken to a loading page which basically takes away other links on the page and gives you a blank page with the progress bar. Once loading is finished, it branches the person to the next step.

  • Progress Bar Issue Actionscript 3 Adobe Air Program

I'm currently having an issue where when I download a file from the internet, I update the source for a ProgressBar that I've created, and I set the ProgressBar to event mode, and as the file is downloading, the progressbar's value increments as normal. When I re-download the same file (source has not changed), the value of the ProgressBar is no longer accurate or producing the same value as before. Basically, the ProgressBar works correctly only 1 time when I launch my application. Is there a proper way to reset/update the ProgressBar after each download?
I've tried everything I can think of.

Right if I had to paste the code it would take several pages lol. I haven't tried using a custom progress bar, but I may look into that. The main feature I used from the Progress bar was the ability to see how many "bytes" had been downloaded and I presented that to the user. I'm using a combination of urlStream/fileStream to download the file. And the source of the ProgressBar Component is linked to an instance called download which handles all the downloading of files. So I use the progress Event to monitor when a download is taking place, and at the same time calculate how many bytes have been downloaded. This is probably not the best way to do it, but currently the only way I know how with my limited actionscript 3 knowledge.
I have confirmed at least my download class/package is downloading the full file each time even though my Progress bar only works 1 time, so it could be some of the things you pointed out that is causing it.

  • Progress bar issue

    All,
i need help again with progressbar? a couple of days ago i coded this on one system and it worked but now iam doing the same thing on another system it does work . The animation icon is running forever nonstop and below is my process:
    1. i created a new template and added the header df after HEADER,
    <div id="loading" style="display:block;position:fixed;top:0px;left:0;z-index:1999;width:100%;height:100%;background-color:#fff;text-align:center;"><div style="position:relative;top:130px;">Wait..loading..</div><img src="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#AnimatedProgressBar.gif" style="position:relative;top:150px;"/></div>2. Added in the footer template the below,
    <script>$(document).ready(function(){ $('#loading').hide()});</script>3. imported the 2 files: ext-base.js & ext-all.js
again the problem my icon is just running forever so how do i correct this issue?
    thanks & regards.

    Hi jieri,
did you try to use FireBug to see if there's any problem in JS? Maybe there's some conflict with jQuery and the files you've imported.

  • Trouble with current playback time on progress bar

    First, some terminology.
As Adobe Flash Player is preparing to play a video, it displays a spinning icon in the center of the video window.  I have seen web pages which refer to this as the spinning beach ball.  I will refer to this simply as the "spinning icon".
While Adobe Flash Player is playing a video, when one hovers the cursor over the video window (or moves the cursor while playing the video in full screen mode), one sees a progress bar at the bottom of the window.  To the left of the progress bar is a pause button.
The progress bar has a pointer representing the current playback time within the video.  The progress bar also has a display of the current playback time and length of the video (eg, 40:37 / 01:12:35, meaning that play back is at 40 minutes and 37 seconds within a video which is 72 minutes and 35 seconds long).
On my Windows XP system, when Flash Player V10.0.32.18 is playing a streaming video, the video pauses when bandwidth is momentarily insufficient to deliver the video bit stream.  The spinning icon appears in the center of the video window.  The current playback time on the progress bar also pauses, as it should.  But when the video resumes, the current playback time does not begin incrementing again.  It remains stalled at the time the pause occurred, which is irritating because it is no longer possible to tell how much time remains in the video.
It took me a very long time to discover that once the current playback time has stalled, pressing the pause button will cause the current playback time to refresh to the correct playback time and begin incrementing again.  Yaaayyyyyy!
Now, perhaps someone can help me with a challenge I have been unable to solve.
On occasion, I want to back up a few seconds within a video.  But if I use my mouse to grab the pointer within the progress bar and move it backward, moving the pointer only a few seconds is a huge challenge.  Even a slight movement of my mouse moves the pointer back a minute or two.
Is there a way to move the pointer using a key (eg, an arrow key) so that each key press moves the pointer back only a second or two?
And how about being able to key in a time and press enter, thereby causing the pointer to move to the specified time? Any way to do that?

Hi OSW, Thanks, now if the NPSWF (FF) files listed are 10.0.32.18 which I'm sure they are, then your FF Flash files are correct. You can right click on each of those and click Properties to confirm the version numbers. Then you have the SWF that is correct. So you have FF Flash files and the SWF, so you are ok on FF.
IE is a different story. That FIDbg10c.ocx should not be there, it should be Flash10c.ocx to match the FlashUtil10c.ocx.
Now as far as doing what you suggested, in a word NO. First of all the plug-in is normally used as referring to FF or other browsers than IE. ActiveX is used for IE. If you ran the uninstall_plug-in.exe, you would be removing your FF add on, so don't do that since all of your related Flash files for FF are intact. (Do not disturb:-)
Now the proper way to Uninstall is to use the Adobe Uninstaller that is downloaded to your Desktop. Then the IE Flash Player Installer is likewise downloaded to the Desktop. Then the FF Installer is downloaded to your Desktop. That way it seems to work better. Also the following must be taken into consideration. Any Anti-Virus/Spyware/Firewall can block
the install of the ActiveX Control for IE. You must run in the Administrative mode or be the Administrator to install the
ActiveX and write to the Windows Registry, which Flash Player does on the Install.
Keep in mind that an Uninstall will remove Flash Player files and the SWF and the SWO for ALL browsers. Then the IE Installer is used to Install FP and the SWO for IE. Then the FF Installer is used to Install the FP & SWF for FF.
Trying to update or download the Flash Player latest version does not remove the old versions as some software installs do. The old versions must be removed by the Adobe FP Uninstaller prior to any download of the new version.
I have to be offline for a time. Will check back in later. Just wanted to give you some info on this. There are a couple of things that can be done, and will explain later. If you are satisfied with FF & IE with how Flash Player is working, you don't have to do anything. Again, the update may not accomplish the progress bar issue either. So it is something to think about.
    Thanks,

  • The 'Publish' command's progress bar in FM11

Trying out Tech Communicator Suite 4, I just tried doing File > Publish on a FrameMaker book, and asking it to convert it into .CHM files.
It pops up a "Please wait..." dialog with a stripey animated progress bar that is a 100% right away. It's been sitting there like that for about 10 minutes now (whilst firing off Distiller in the background from time to time).
I appreciate that it may take a few mins to chomp through a big book and spit out the .chm,
but I was expecting a slightly better progress dialog than what I'm seeing!
Has anyone else on the forum used this workflow? Is this the way it always behaves? I was expecting the progress bar to at least, well, you know... show some progress

You'll need to create a project in RoboHelp first that has all your definitions set, then export your settings in a .isf file that FM uses to do the help generation. It's not a 1-stop process (at least initially). You also don't get the same degree of control over the output as you would in the normal FM to RH workflow.

  • Progress bar for animation

I am trying to make a progress bar for my animation, similar
to the stock flv players that came with CS3.
I am controlling a swf file loaded into the 'container'
movieclip, and I can get the scroll bar to control the movieclip.
In other words, the animation will jump to the right frames when I
drag the bar. However, when I put in code to make the progress bar
follow the action (using a onEnterFrame event handler) It follows
the animation, but now I can't scroll.
Question: How do I make my scroll bar stop following the
action when you click on it to scroll somewhere else???
Thanks in advance for your help!

Ok, so i took another crack at it and fixed the action script issues which for some reason half disappeared when i loaded it back up ( Maybe it didn't properly register the change back to AS 3? I resolved the other ones that popped up in it's stead after staring at the code for a bit ). Next a related issue so i'm gonna post it here, but does anyone know how to get the image rotation loop to play while it loads?

  • Windows 7 icons disappear/reappear Green Progress folder bar issues with slow performance. HELP!!!

Hi there, I hope someone can help me. This all started about a week ago. So I tried a fresh reinstall from my recovery disk. to no avail. Ok I have Home Premium 64bit and it seems my icons in my user folders and subfolders and the actual file icons are
blank stand ard or missing. after a while they reappear to normal. the green progress bar in the explorer folders always lags and never fully completes. It hangs. Now I see that it takes 30 secs to get a program to open. Currently my control panel screen is
blank and my connection between my ipod touch 5g and my desktop is very slow at data transfer. I'm going bonkers! The only things I altered was turning off WMM in my router, Installed a software someone gave me (only to find out it was a crack software) deleted
that first! and used CCleaner to clean my registry

    Hi,
So a total reinstall didn’t fix the issue?
We may take a try with the following article to make Windows a better performance.
    Optimize Windows for better performance
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/optimize-windows-better-performance#optimize-windows-better-performance=windows-7
Then, please check to see if any new updates available, also the related drivers, make sure they are up-to-date.
After that, if issue insists, please refer to the following article to run chkdsk command in CMD to check if there are disk issue.

  • Mac boot issue; gray screen, spinning wheel, and progress bar

Recently I shut down my Mac only to find when I tried turning it back on it was very slow and unresponsive. I proceeded to shut down a couple more times and this resulted in a gray screen upon startup with a spinning wheel, apple logo, and a progress bar. The progress bar did not fill at all at first, and as I left my laptop for about 40 minutes, it still hadn't moved. I proceeded then to boot in recovery and tried to repair my disk. This resulted in another issue, and would not repair, so I decided to just erase my HD, since there was not anything important on it anyways. I really just wanted my laptop to turn on so I could start my paper. Well it wouldn't erase my hard disk and this led to me becoming very impatient and just quitting the process. On the next attempt to boot in recovery, the hard disk doesn't even show up. Only the recovery disk (previously there were two disks as options, as well as the wifi selection). I'm now using safari through the recovery option. I'd like to simply get my computer back. If i can't get anywhere on here, i'm just going to bring it to the apple store and return it, most likely, as i've had nothing but problems with this thing. I've had it since the middle of September, and I can't hardly believe i've already encountered such an issue. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I'd make a trip to the Apple Store - your hard disk may be dying (the Recovery partition is very small) or there might be something corrupt in your system. They'll be able to evaluate it.

  • Issues with publishing my iWeb site to .MAC - Progress bar freezes at 100%

Well, as topic says, i'm having troubles publishing my iWeb site to .MAC now since upgrading to '08. The progress bar reaches full circle, but then nothing. Left it uploading to .Mac for well over 2 hours one time while out of the house...nada. Sometimes i get an error message, sometimes not and have to close iWeb while it's still publishing.
    Any feedback regarding this?
    Thanks in advance.
    /Rich

Update: After 36 hours, I have successfully managed to upload my entire website via the "Publish All to .Mac" option. I now have blue indicators on the left side of my iWeb program in place of those pesky red ones. How did I do it? Well, I'm not sure. But on my last attempt I looked at the problem from a different perspective, so I took an alternate approach. I had a feeling that I was experiencing a network timeout issue caused by a 3rd party software, so I created a Whitelist entry on my website filtering software that allows unlimited access to "idisk.mac.com";; and "web.mac.com";; domains. I've got two kids at home, so I'm running the free OpenDNS Dashboard service on my network which provides content filtering (blocks adult site, phishing site, etc..). I started using this service two weeks ago. My last website update was a week before that. I figured I had nothing to loose by trying. To my surprise, it worked. Now, it took almost two hours to publish, of which the pie indicator was in the  "filled" position for a nerve racking hour. To reconfirm,  I then made a minor change to one of the pages on my website and re-published. This time using the "Publish to .Mac" option in place of the ALL option and once again it worked. It took less than 5 minutes. Now, I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, maybe Apple fixed the problem, or maybe my website filtering service was causing some type of time out issue all along??  Don't know.. But at least for now, I'm a happy camper since I have my site up.

  • Progress bar is animated in one direction in Indeterminate mode

    Hello All:
How to make Progress bar being animated in one direction in Indeterminate mode, like what determinate mode does? For example, a horizontal progress bar is always animated from left to right.
And how to control animation speed in this mode?
    Thank you very much.
    Johnson

How to make Progress bar being animated in one direction in
Indeterminate mode, like what determinate mode does?Well the point of using indeterminate mode is that you don't know how long it will take. So what happens if the task takes longer than you think and the bar reaches the end? The user will think its frozen.
And how to control animation speed in this mode?
    UIManager.put("ProgressBar.cycleTime", new Integer(3000)); // 3000 is the default

Recently my MacBookPro locked up on startup. Could not get past a certain point of progress bar. I had upgraded to Yosemite few weeks back, with no issues. I ended up doing a Recovery with Time Machine and I got all my apps, photos, documents, etc. back okay --- except I got error messages that my "registration for Photoshop (I use CS4 Extended) and Photo Mechanic are no longer working".  I worked on Photoshop first, and tried (several times) to fix it with their online help suggestions.  Nothing worked.
Is there a simpler way to "get my licenses/registrations back"???  I am also going to contact Camera Bits about the Photo Mechanic issues.   Thanks

Same problem and for months now. I haven't been able to find a solution, but I suspect that's because I don't know exactly what's wrong.

  • Progress bar during startup - Odd Issue

    What's the problem:
Upon startup my iMac (early 2009, Mountain Lion) shows a grey progress bar that takes approx. 20 Minutes to complete and then the machine shuts down.
What have I done before the issue occured:
Cleaning up cache files and deleting several programms that I wasn't using any more.
What's the setup of my machine:
I have one physical harddrive that contains 3 logical partitions: One is of course the Macintosh HD (HFS+), one for data (HFS+), and one Bootcamp (FAT32) partition.
What have I tried so far:
When booting into Single User mode I ran the fsck (and fsck_hfs) command which quits after 3 unsuccessfull attempts. The only error message shown is
"Incorrect Number Of Thread Records (4, someNumber)". I tried this at least 10 times now and the behaviour is always the same, except from the number shown in the thread records message.
When booting into the recovery partition disk utility shows me the 3 partitions on my HD but shows the Macintosh HD greyed out. When checking the HD it finished without problems, when just checking the Macintosh HD it aborts with an error. Same applies when I try to fix the partition.
I tried to reinstall Mac OS but the Macintosh HD is not shown in the target disks for installation. I also tried to repartition the disk without any success.
    What's odd about this issue:
First of all, I can boot into Windows (BootcamP) without any issues and work there.
Also, when in singel user mode, I can run the 'du' command which shows me all files on my Macintosh HD so the partition itself still sems to be intact.
    What might be a solution:
I've have come along some comments that said DiskWarrior could fix more issues then Disk Utility but I not yet there to spend 100+ € for it.
Any other suggestions from you on how to get Mac OS back to work would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for your replies and proposed solutions. Unfortunately none of them worked.
@Alberto: Pressing the "D" button upon startup, does not launch the hardware test. Actually nothing realy happens for approx. 60 seconds before the machine starts the boot volume.
@Linc: I'm not able to erase the OS X boot volume as disk utility tells me it's missing it's mount point.
@romainst: As far as I remember I was still under 10.8.2. So far I have tried to repair the OS X partition at least 25 times without any changes or a chance to get this thing mounted.
I wouldn't mind erasing the Mac OS partition and reinstalling it as it only holds systems files and some applications that I could easily reinstall. Still the machine is preventing me from doing so as it will not let me mount this partition. This is becoming increasingly frustrating as the only way out seems to erase the entire HD and start over from scratch - if this is possible at all. Despite the time wasted I would also loose some of my data on the respective partition as I don't have a backup for the entire data partition.

  • Progress Bar Animation

I built a database reporting application in flex that's working fine. However, some of the datasets are large and the end user requested a progress bar for long loads.
No problem, right? I used <mx:ProgressBar> set the mode to manual, and as ActionScript processes the dataset, call showProgress() repeatedly.
Trouble is, the animation doesn't play. The Progress Bar just sits on the screen, empty, until the data is completely loaded, then jumps to 100% and disappears.
I tried switching the progress bar to "indeterminate" and something similar happens: The indeterminate bar appears, but the animation doesn't play until the data has populated the DataGrid, then the animation starts playing just before the bar disappears.
Can anyone help? A progress bar that doesn't sho progress is kinda worthless.
    Thanks
    -John

    Hi,
Go through the example and comments, hope it might help.
I haven't worked with ProgressBar, thought might be useful.

  • Progress bar for movieclip animations

    Hello,
I have to create a presentation with audio and animation synced - it's about 5 minutes.  It has 5 buttons at the bottom that the user can use to navigate to a particular subject of the presentation.  But I was asked if there could be a progress bar for each subject so that the user could see how far they've gone.  I'm thinking I could have something check to see how far along the audio is and have a bar move along as the audio moves along.
This seems like a project that's probably been done, if anyone could help that'd be great, thanks!

I don't deal with sound much, but you should be able to monitor the position property against the duration property much like CL mentioned using the frames.  You would use the ratio of position/duration to determine how far along the playtime is (percent complete), and you can use that value to control the width of a progress bar.
A progress bar can be as simple as a rectangular strip whose normal width would be the 100% complete size.  You control the width by using the percentage complete times that full width value.  To make it more visually representative of when the end is coming, when you draw that rectangle, include a line border.  But isolate the fill as as the progress bar movieclip.  That way, the border lets you know what the full size is while the fill as a movieclip changes to fill up the outline.  You can also include a textfield if you like to display the percent completion.

  • Progress bar update issue

I have a flash program written in Action Script 3.  It worked fine on XP but I recently moved to windows 7 and now I have problems.  It is a simple file upload program.  In Windows 7 the progress moves really fast to 100% like it is reading a buffer and not what is being sent over the internet.  Once it reaches 100%, the program hangs (sometimes hangs the browser) until the file has finished uploading.  The program still works in XP so is this a known issue with Windows 7?  I haven't found any other problems with this online anywhere.
    Thanks

Thanks for your response.  It isn't Adobe Flash that is the problem, I think that it is the way the flash program is interpreted in IE/Firefox on Windows 7.  The line of code I use to update the progress bar is progressBar.setProgress(event.bytesLoaded, event.bytesTotal); (after I have set a progress handler)  Like I said, the same flash application runs great on Internet Explorer/Firefox on XP but not on Windows 7 and my flash player is up to date.  Also, on Win7 you can't run IE in compatibility mode either...
    Thanks for you time.
