Another Address Book label question

Is there a way in the address book label printing to select the position of one label to be printed on, let's say, a 30 label sheet of Avery standard? Many times I just want to print one address label but have a sheet of labels that have several labels missing. I want to be able to select the start position as to where the label is printed, otherwise it always wants to print in the first row, first label and I have to use a brand new sheet of label paper so use up the 2 #1 postions. (Turn it upside down)
Thanks,
Glen

Hello:
Unfortunately Address Book only prints a contact name or a company name on a label. Hopefully this will change in a future version.

I don't have the answer, but I want to go on record as having the same problem. I've tried everything to eliminate the selected image, but I can't figure out how to do so. I would happily edit a plist file if someone knew where this was stored. Thanks!

  • Address book - labels layout - other formats

    Hello Forum
Does anyone know of a collection of other layouts for the address book label layouts. At the moment I only see Avery std, Avery A4 and DYMO.
There's a whole set of labels of other label makers eg DECAdry that I don't find in the list. Nor do I know of (or find) a site that maps DECAdry on Avery equivalents.
I can of course simply add it as custom layout but I was wondering if there were other alternatives?

  • UNBELIEVABLE ADDRESS BOOK label printing still archaic

Unreal. Address book label printing is a joke. So they still have not looked at the several phonecalls with suggestions i left with techsupport in regards to the fact that you CANNOT change the position of the label you want an address printed on, therefore wasting a whole avery sheet for just one label everytime you print. What a way to save the environment Apple. Think different.

Yes, this is incredibly silly. Drives me nuts everytime I want to print a label, so I do it in Word. Dumb.

  • Address Book Labels

Anyone know why it is that having imported all my contacts from Palm Desktop, address book labels all the email addresses as either "work", "home", or "other"?
Surely "email" would be more appropriate...
And can I do anything about it, other than manually change all 375 contacts?
    Thanks,

  • Address Book Salutation question

I have to use salutations a lot in my business,e.g., Mr., Ms., etc. so I have been using the prefix field in the address book. That way I can print labels correctly. However, When I look at a group, it shows Mr. Joe Apple, Ms. Josephine Apple, Mrs. Josephine Appleton, etc. And I would really like to just see Joe Apple, Josephine Apple, Josephine Appleton - When there are a lot of names the salutation gets in the way of finding people at a glance. Is there a way to keep the prefix field and not show it in the group listing?
    Thanks for the help

    Pandaboots,
I have been looking at that since Leopard came out....
I put in a comma after the city on all my addresses in the address book...
Ok... that works when you print...
Now, here is another problem with that comma and Apple...
When you plug in an iPod which is synced to the address book, the iPod now has 2 commas....
So, the iPod knows there should be a comma there but the address book does NOT...
Either Apple needs to remove the comma from the iPod syncing or add a comma to the Address Book to be consistent with each other...
I have removed all my commas from my address book now so I don't have double commas on my iPod....
    Go Figure.......

  • ICloud to Mac Address Book - Two Questions

Okay, I have learned/accepted that iCloud is not the sync'ing deal that MobileMe was (missed that in the fine print as I have been a loyal .mac user from its inception and like the MM syncing). I understand that everything is updated in the cloud and pushed to various devices (for me, iPhone 4S, new iPad and 2009 MBP).  So, how is it possible for my iCloud address book to have more contacts than my MBP address book?  Wouldn't all of the ones in iCloud be pushed to the MBP?  The only thing I can think is that before I understood the concept that there are two address books resident on the MBP, I starting deleting what I thought were duplicates since I wasn't able to merge them due to two different sources.  I could not find a way at that time to tell me which line was from what source.  Then, once I get the two address books matching - mostly to ensure that I am not missing anything in the iCloud one - what purpose does the Mac based address book serve?  I just had a nightmare of dragging various cards from my iCloud address page on the right into the iCloud group on the left and only to realize after doing at least 20 cards that after the first one, the left page registers back up putting the Mac based group across from the iCloud contact list so I dropped many of them into the Mac group instead of the iCloud group. The iCal doesn't maintain a Mac version and an iCloud version, why does the address book?  BTW, all software on all devices is up to date as of this posting.

Please pardon what may be a silly question.  This is my first ever post...
I was thinking about deleting "On My Mac" address book per your above instructions, and sticking with the one iCloud contacts.  The problem I am afraid of running into is this:  In iTunes, when I sync contacts, the groups that show available for syncing all come from "On My Mac".  If I delete from the Mac, will that make my "Contacts" icon on my iPad 'dead'?  Thereby, forcing me to log onto iCloud to view my Contacts, instead of a handy shortcut???
Or will I simply get to forgo the iTunes syncing... and the "contacts" icon on my iPad will reflect what was synced thru iCloud?
If the latter is true, does that simply mean I will need to recreate my "groups" in iCloud?
Thanks in advance, I certainly need some guidance.

  • Address Book Label Layout

I'm using mail to print address labels. Several addressees are couples with different last names. If I list one of the couple as a spouse or partner in my address book, the program will list both names on the first line of the label. However, it's inconsistent, doing it with some couples entries and not others. I don't see any difference in the individual entries to explain the different layout. Has anybody had this experience?

I found the solution in the "spouse" thread. Thomas Corper said," Select "print", then go to "LABEL" tab. Once in there, change "addresses:all" to your distribution list. It gets rid of all the other names you have and just includes the title name."

  • Address Book contacts question

Hi- just wondering if someone can help on this topic before I launch into the unknown!!:
If I add an Exchange 2007 account into my Apple Address Book, will those email addresses be available when I go to send an email in Apple Mail?
and so am I right to assume that Mail looks for addresses from:
1/ my "local" Mac Address Book entries
    2/ my new Exchange contacts
3/ my Previous Recipients list in Mail
Lastly, when I choose "add to Address Book" in Mail, where will this contact go- to my "local" address Book on into the Exchange account?
    Thanks for any tips!

Does your question have anything remotely to do with iWeb 09? This is an iWeb 09 forum - did you not look where you were posting?
No - so it is not relevant to this forum. Please post in somewhere that is more relevant, such as the iPhone forum or the iPad forum.

  • Address book labels doubled?

I'm trying to print some labels from Address Book and I noticed that most addresses are doubled.  I have a suspicion it has something to do with iCloud.  My Address book has iCloud as a header for my groups.  I have selected the group I wish to print labels for with 151 records.  When I check out the print setup it says I have 263 address records to print.  When I look closely at the print preview I see that there are two of most of my addresses.  When I look back in my address book I do not see any duplicates.  What I can I do to remove the duplicates from my labels?

I've just noticed the same phenomenon, despite not having mobile me or iCloud. I'm using 10.6.8. When i start an old mac using 10.5.8 everything functions correctly. I have 23 adresses to print and the final amount being printed has risen to 34 due to some being duplicated.
Have just sortrd my problem. I chose Menu>Card>Look For Duplicates  and ran the merge option. I had to do this about 10 times. I closed and restarted Address Book at one point. Eventually, no more duplicates were found by the routine and hey presto, no more duplicate labels!
    Hope this helps.

  • Address book subscription question

On my iMac I am subscribed to my sons address book, how can I view this on my iPhone without adding all of his contacts to my address book? I dont want to clutter my address book but when I am away from home I sometimes need a number in his contacts. Is there a way to do this or a workaround?

  • Address Book label field selection

Hi there. I have OS Lion. In Address Book I store Prefix, Forename and Surname. But on the mailing label want to just print the Prefix and Surname. Can't find a way to edit the field selection for the label!!!! Any help much appreciated.

That "*do not* first click on EDIT" hint from you, Michael, will save me much future misery. THANK YOU! How nice it would be if Apple fixed the problem. It could be as simple as allowing multiple undo's. If you catch your mistake on the first keystroke, you're okay. That second keystroke is the big problem. I use "notes" in Address Book to store all kinds of information: passwords, phone conversation histories, order confirmation numbers, just to name a few. Even using care I've lost data. And I kick myself for having known better. Now I'll only click EDIT when I'm entering data "above the line."

  • Subscribing to another address book - loads of "no name" entries

When I subscribe to someone else's Address Book, I see dozens of "No Name" entries listed in there before the regular entries. Any ideas what's going wrong?

Usually 'no name' is a blank entry. I end up getting those in my address book when I am making several entries at one time. This usually because I click the blued 'edit' button by mistake. You could check with the owner of the address book to see if 'no name' exists on the original Address book file.

  • Upgraded MacBook Pro 5,1 to Lion - Address Book/RAM Question - PLEASE HELP!

So, I upgraded to Lion. Flawless.
Except, when I was trying to set up iCloud, I had Address Book open and decided to select the "Look for Duplicates" function to try to clear some of the double entries in my Address Book.
The process took over an hour.
    I had Fusion running.
After an hour, I got an error message that said I have run out of disk space. It prompted me to force quit some applications.
I have 4 GB of RAM and 400 GB free on a 750 GB Hard Drive.
What caused this? Is it serious? Any advice?
I am trying to run it again, but it is taking forever.
    Please help!

I finally solved the problem by myself.
For anyone reading this thread and having similar issues, I quickly describe how I did it:
Basically, I changed totally nothing on either Soft- or Hardware side.
But what I did was disassemble my MBP, remove one of those 2 memory chips, un- and replugged the SSD, turned the system on with just one memory chip, let it run for a while (did some stress tests on the SSD that ususally lead to massive problems) and everything worked smooth.
At first I thought the one memory I removed was bad, but to my surprise the system continued to work stable after I put it in again.
Since 6 days my MBP runs smooth without any troubles like spinning wheels or whatsoever.
I've read many threads from other people having similiar issues with this configuration, coming up with a lot of ideas and workarounds.
Although this seems to be weird, I hope that it helps some of you facing the same weird behaviour.

  • Address book sync question using Mobile Me

I sync my address book using Mobile Me.
However, I have several different groups in my book, and only want to sync one group.
I can't figure out how to do that. Right now it is syncing all my contacts.
    Any suggestions!?

Sounds like a desktop configuration issue you should investigate if you can have more than one contact listing for each user logon and whether you can make one of them the default.
