Another Login Channel Question?

I want to use the Login Channel such that my user is presented with static content and along with Login Channel. When the user enters Login & Password he/she is taken to the domain they belong to. And, when they do Login I also want to capture their username & password to access use in channels that allow the user to log into another application (database, CRM, etc).
I guess I want to do some custom authentication, but how at login can I direct the user to the appropriate domain? And, what type of Authentication is used by the Default Channel I haven't found any source for the Default Login Channel, if I want to customize the Authentication associated with it where/how would I start?

You are directed to a domain even before login, you login based on the authentication configuration for that domain.
For e.g.if you are using portal, the way you authenticate is
http://portalserver:8080/login/domain_name_1 and ofcourse you can appropriately configure the domain also to be mapped to any url like
http://myportal.mydomain.com for domain_name_1
What the login channel does is load the authentication screen based on the appropriate display.html present in
/etc/opt/SUNWips/desktop/default/iwtLoginProvider
What you can do is write a custom auth provider that takes the password token string and help you handle your backend authentication you need to do with your backend server . You can then configure iwtLoginProvider to use your authentication module instead of the default Membership login ..
Details of how to configure the Login Provider for any authentication is given in sp3a release notes, look for the topic Modifying the Login Channel ..
To write your own authentication module, there are samples provided and the membership auth module code is also distributed through support based on request ..

  • Anonymous login doesn't show user login channel

Recently i am doing some R&D work on portal server. Whenever the user logs in to portal server, it will bypass the authentication menus and login as anonymous user because i have set in the admin console to disable all the authentication methods except anonymous login. In order for the user to login again using membership login inside the anonymous login, at the advanced option under "Non Interactive Mode", i added "membership" as one of the variable. Now the problem comes when i added in a generic provider into my channel.I can't see the user login channel anymore whenever i log into the anonymous page. I have uncheck "the persistent cookies" at the advanced option in admin console but the problem still persist.Even if i never log in using the login channel at the anonymous user page, it will display "welcome new user" and bypass the page with "login channel". I hope you guys understand my question. :). Anyone out there knows what's going wrong here?

Make sure the iwtLoginProvider is present in the selected channel list for the anonymous user.
Go to the anonymous user profile /Manage_Domain/Role/Users and then anonymous user profile and check to see if you have the iwtLoginProvider added in your list of available and selected channels, if it is not present you have to add it.
Below the available channel list box
type iwtLoginProvider in the Channel Name text box. For the Class Name text box, type: com.iplanet.portalserver.providers.login.LoginProvider
    Click the add button
Now move the channel to selected channel list and then click the submit button in the bottom of the page.

  • Will Disk Copying Continue in Another Login Account?

Will Disk Copying Continue in Another Login Account on the Same Computer?
This is likely a very dumb question, but nonetheless here goes:
I am logged into my Mac (Yosemite) under my admin account and I start copying data to or from an external hard drive. The amount of data being transferred is large, so it takes a long time.
Now my kids want to log into their standard privileges account to do their homework while this copying process is going on. If they do so, will the data transfer with the external disk still continue, or will something bad happen?
Related to this, does it matter if they simply log in as an additional user, versus me logging out from my admin account and then them logging into their user account?
    Thank you!

As long as you don't log out, it will continue to copy. Just use Fast User Switching.
If it is not already enabled, you can enable it in Users & Groups system Prefs, Login Options.

  • Using the Login Channel to login to a new domain.

I currently have a domain that is setup for anonymous login. I have the iwtLoginProvider channel on the desktop for the anonymous user. I have setup the Login Channel to authenticate to a NT server and this is working correctly. What I want to do is when the user is authenticated I want them to be authenticated and transfered to a different domain. The other domain is a secure domain that uses NT authentication for verification.
So domain Alpha is setup for anonymous login. On the desktop for Alpha is the login Channel. When the user logs in using the loginChannel I want them to be logging into domain Bravo, and for them to see that domain and their secure information for Bravo.
Anyone got any ideas on how to do this? I have tried the following in the GET/POST call of the display.html for the iwtLoginProvider channel.
    login/NT?domain=/<mydomain>&arg=newsession login?goto=<URL>
    TIA,
    Brian

A better option might be to write a custom auth module that invokes ogin/NT?domain=/<mydomain>&arg=newsession login?goto=<URL> and then call that custom module from the iwtLoginProvider instead of having the login provider call do the GET/POST ..

  • Knuckleheaded Alpha Channel Question of the Week

OK...I rarely monkey around in Motion, but I have amazingly just created about 10 different animated versions of my client's logo for use in various films (cut in SD in FCP). I need to be able to library these rascals so I can just drop them into FCP when I need them.
However, and here is where the knucklehead deal enters the picture.
I am baffled as to how to export the logos out of Motion so there is no black background! I want to create a QT file of each version that I can library and then import into FCP. I have already checked the all of the Alpha channel questions dealing with this issue and the answers are like me and algebra in the 7th grade...huh?
Can somebody give me the kindergarten version of how to get rid of the black background behind my little purple animated logo.
Thanks in advance and I promise to close Motion and step away from the keyboard as soon as one of you mavens helps me solve my little non power user dilemma.

Easiest would be not to export at all, but save a different project file for each version - then just bring the Motion project file into FCP. As long as you have set the background to be transparent (Edit > Project Properties), then the project file will have transparency.
If you want to export, you need to choose a codec that supports an alpha channel, such as Animation or PNG.

  • Where to modify anonymous login channel?

    Hi,
Q1. I know we can modify the anonymous login channel as I manage to do it for all the others but for the login, I can;t seem to find the Login folder as mentioned in the docs. i am using portal 6.2 (JES 2004Q2).
Also the doc says not to modify LoginProvider so how to I modify the login channel when I go to http://<machine name><domainname>/portal/dt
Q2. Next the header.jsp for anonymous login can be changed in the /etc/opt/SUNWps/desktop/anonymous/JSPTabContainer/header.jsp however the search component is "included" as a code "searchbox.jsp". Where is this searchbox.jsp? I tried modifying all the searchbox.jsp in sampleportal directory, default directory and even my own directory created by "cp --rp" from sampleportal but still cannot see the changes reflected. Any idea?
    Please help.

    Adam,
Would you consider the SAP classes for J2SE and J2EE a good place to begin learning how to work with the CRM2007 package?  We're likely to be upgrading late this year/early next and I need to get up to speed on how to do the ISA UI work.
To this point I've just used Dreamweaver on the .jsp's and it's worked well enough if a bit cumbersome.
I've been trying to teach myself the NWDS, but need to dedicate more time to it than I've had the past couple months.

  • Another color management question

    Hi folks,
Apologies for yet another color management question, but Im getting very confused and could do with some help. I use a Canon 10D and Canon 30D. Ive come to LightRoom from Pixmantec Raw Shooter.
As Ive gotten more serious about producing high quality images for both the web and as prints, I thought Id invest in the Colorvision Spyder2 calibration product. So my monitor is now calibrated (quite a difference from what I was seeing!) and I have a calibration profile applied.
My needs are pretty obvious I want my images to look the same wherever theyre viewed including exported files (such as JPEGs) whether this be on my monitor (in LightRoom, a web browser, Paint Shop Pro, whatever) and on a printer.
Perhaps Im getting confused because Im trying to compare what LightRoom does with what RawShooter does.
In RawShooter, when exporting from RAW to JPEG, I can specify the RGB Working Space Im using and then select my monitor profile. I think that what happens is that the export mechanism takes this profile into account and, low and behold, the JPEG looks fine when viewed in any web browser - the colours are exactly the same as in RawShooter. In Paint Shop Pro they look fine too unless I enable Color Management in which case (Im guessing) the monitor profile is, essentially, applied twice! But the upshot is I seem to get the results I want.
What I cant figure out is how I do this in LightRoom. I can make the same adjustments to the RAW image as I did in RawShooter, but there doesnt seem an option for me to select my profile on export to JPEG only the standard 3 color spaces. Anyway the result is a JPEG that looks somewhat different when viewed in a web browser, or Paint Shop Pro with Color Management turned off. However, if I turn Color Management on in Paint Shop Pro, then it looks fine. So Im assuming that my profile isnt accounted for when exporting JPEGs from LightRoom.
So any pointers or explanations would be really appreciated. I also acknowledge that this is my first foray into color management, and feel free to tell me to go and read some introductory article (link please!) and then come back with a sensible question if thats whats needed!
    Thanks in advance.
    - Pete

    Lightroom color management.
a.) Monitor profile used: The profile set as the default in your operating system (e.g. Windows xp). (your monitor profile software usually does this when you calibrate/profile your monitor).
    b.) Working space: ProPhotoRGB
c.) Export color space: You can choose one of the following sRGB; Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB.
There is no option (afaik) to change a.) or b.) the option you choose in c.) will affect how the exported image will be displayed in color managed applications or non-color managed applications.
Non-color managed applications are not able to display Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB correctly. I guess if you wish a consistent display of your images in color managed and non-color managed applications then the only common factor is sRGB and you should export your images in sRGB color space.
The benefits of the other expanded color spaces are in printing and you also would have to get this end of your color management correct. Printing profiles to match your printer and each paper being used etc.
Until you can get this all sorted out you will get better results from sRGB, this is also applicable when using most commercial printing services.

  • Sun Portal Login Channel Process Flow

I have created and customized a Login Channel on Sun Portal Server. I want to know the process flow for this login channel. Means, if a user logs in, how the Access Manager handles this request and redirects the user to his portal desktop?

Either the login channel does s.c. 'zero-page-login' providing user and password information in the request or it uses s.c. 'authcontext-based' authentication.
Any way if the authentication is successfull the user is redirected either to the url sepcified with 'goto=' parameter or if not specified the url specified as 'success URL' in AM's auth service.

  • Nexus 1000v port-channels questions

    Hi,
I’m running vCenter 4.1 and Nexus 1000v and about 30 ESX Hosts.
I’m using one system uplink port profile for all 30 ESX Host; On each of the ESX host I have 2 NICs going to a Catalyst 3750 switch stack (Switch A), and another 2 NICs going to another Catalyst 3750 switch stack (Switch B).
The Nexus is configured with the “sub-group CDP” command on the system uplink port profile like the following:
    port-profile type ethernet uplink
    vmware port-group
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,800,802,900,988-991,996-997,999
    switchport trunk native vlan 500
    mtu 1500
channel-group auto mode on sub-group cdp
    no shutdown
    system vlan 988-989
    description System-Uplink
    state enabled
And the port channel on the Catalyst 3750 are configured like the following:
    interface Port-channel11
    description ESX-10(Virtual Machine)
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 500
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 800,802,900,988-991
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport nonegotiate
    spanning-tree portfast trunk
    end
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/18
    description ESX-10(Virtual Machine)
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 500
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 800,802,900,988-991
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport nonegotiate
    channel-group 11 mode on
    spanning-tree portfast trunk
    spanning-tree guard root
    end
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
    description ESX-10(Virtual Machine)
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 500
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 800,802,900,988-991
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport nonegotiate
    channel-group 11 mode on
    spanning-tree portfast trunk
    spanning-tree guard root
    end
Now Cisco is telling me that I should be using MAC pinning when doing a trunk to two different stacks , and that each interface on 3750 should not be configured in a port-channel like above,  but should be configured as individual trunks.
First question: Is the above statement correct, are my uplinks configured wrong?  Should they be configured individually in trunks instead of a port-channel?
Second questions: If I need to add the MAC pinning configuration on my system uplink port-profile can I create a new system uplink port profile with the MAC pinning configuration and then move one ESX host (with no VM on them) one at a time to that new system uplink port profile? This way, I could migrate one ESX host at a time without outages to my VMs. Or is there an easier way to move 30 ESX hosts to a new system uplink profile with the MAC Pinning configuration.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
From what I understood, you have the following setup:
         - Each ESX host has 4 NICS
         - 2 of them go to a 3750 stack and the other 2 go to a different 3750 stack
         - all 4 vmnics on the ESX host use the same Ethernet port-profile
              - this has 'channel-group auto mode on sub-group cdp'
         - The 2 interfaces on each 3750 stack are in a port-channel (just 'mode on')
If yes, then this sort of a setup is correct. The only problem with this is the dependance on CDP. With CDP loss, the port-channels would go down.
'mac-pinning' is the recommended option for this sort of a setup. You don't have to bundle the interfaces on the 3750 for this and these can be just regular trunk ports. If all your ports are on the same stack, then you can look at LACP. The CDP option would not be supported in the future releases. In fact, it is supposed to be removed from 4.2(1)SV1(2.1) but I still see the command available (ignore 4.2(1)SV1(4) next to it) - I'll follow up on this internally:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus1000/sw/4_2_1_s_v_2_1_1/interface/configuration/guide/b_Cisco_Nexus_1000V_Interface_Configuration_Guide_Release_4_2_1_SV_2_1_1_chapter_01.html
For migrating, the best option would be as you suggested. Create a new port-profile with mac-pinning and move one host at a time. You can migrate VMs off the host before you change the port-profile and can remove the upstream port-channel config as well.
    Thanks,
    Shankar

  • Another memory/cpu question/s

I have searched the forums, and the links everyone has posted , and i cant find a answer to a few questions i have !
#1: I have seen nothing on what brand ram would work using 2-1gb in dual channel ,on the k7n2-Delta , all the tests/talk has been using 512 or smaller ,any ideas??
#2 : Can I run pc3200-400fsb memory (1gbx2) with a 333fsb Athlon-XP-3000+ , and will it lessen or gain performance by doing so??
#3 : What is the highest CPU(socket A) that i can use on the k7n2-Delta(would a  3200+ etc work ?) or am i limited to the 3000+ ,as i seem to get that feeling from some posts i have read , or if it will work would i be better off getting a 3200+-400fsb along with pc-3200 1gbx2 (refer to #2)
The reason im asking these questions is i want to add more ram (currently at 1gb and want to use 2gb ) but im not sure which brand would even work as i have seen nothing posted about using 2gb in dual channel and only a few manufacurers offer 1gb sticks ,let alone a matched set for dual channel, and i am unsure of the REAL limitations of this board and weather i would notice a difference by adding 400fsb ram while still using the 333fsb cpu , then if needed later swapping out my 333fsb cpu for a 400fsb cpu of the same speed or higher , or leaving it as is ,or if i can even do the upgrade i want to do to this board !......any help would be appreciated!!!!

well i tried the board with a barton XP3200 and a Corsair value kit 2x512mb PC3200..
didn't work well.. it froze half of the time.. when playing games... it the texture flickers..
I went to the salesman and changed my RAM to Kingston PC3500 (i know it want work at fsb433!) but underclocking is always good.. still didn't work...
it seems like its incompatibility... and the board seems to be really picky... MSI motherboards are really stabil... but to be picky? comeon... why didn't MSI made it compatible with the best ram out there...
why is it only running most of the ram on PC2700?
i suggest on finding another board if u like ur current ram and it doesn't make any errors in memtest... or check the list for compatible ram in one of the thread here..

  • My dual channel question

Hi everyone, i am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have, however, been reading posts for a bout a week or so as i have benn trying to find answers to some of my questions.
    Here is my spec:
    K8T Neo2-FIR pro motherboard
Athlon 64 3800+ CPU (venice core)
    512mb kingston ram x 2 (in sockets 1 and 2)
    Geforce fx 6600gt graphics card
First of all, i just wanted to say that this motherboard (in my opinion) is FAST!
I can only run my memory in single  mode as i now know i don't have the right BIOS ver. I am too scared to flash it manually so i will stick with ver 3.3.
However, i had the chance to swap all my components into another brand new Asrock motherboard. The duel channel work straight from word go. I ran Aquamark 3 and i was getting a score of 25,000. Yet, on the MSI motherboard, in single channel mode i was getting 52,000.
So i swapped back to the K8T Neo2!
The plot thickens ..... a friend of mine also has this board but he doesn't have the venice core and therefore he can run it in dual channel, but, he only gets a score of 48,000 and that's using my components, same ram, graphics etc.
    So here's my question:
Is it worth me flashing my bios to 9.2 and will i get better scores in games and better frame rates in games? .... the manual flash seems complicated and risky. I used the live flash to get 3.3a when i first got the board and that worked fine. If only they let you select which ver you wanted to live flash.
Last of all, i wanted to say that some of you have taught me quite a bit about my pc and i may even attempt overclocking (a little) one day. Tiresmoke you deserve credit for your help and work on this forum.

Im sure its the safest but didnt work for me. The winflash works fine as long as you know what you are doing and dont have a windows that does things you dont want it to.

You still think that's good advice considering red's trepidation? I can understand if you could be there to look over his shoulder and direct, but you're not unfortunately.

  • New to LABVIEW. How can I use one analog channel to trigger acquisiton of a signal on another analog channel?

I am new to using Labview and have been tasked to write data acqusition program for my company. We are attempting to log 6 machines, each with their own asynchronous trigger (I can't use one trigger for all 6 machines). I have the idea to use (for example) ai0 for the measurement and ai1 for the trigger (for one machine), yet I see nothing in the documentation on how this is done. I have tried playing around with the DAQ express VI (I am using Labview7) but still don't see a way to have the setup I am looking for. I'm sure this is a relatively easy question, but I'm unsure where to go to look for an answer. Any helpful pointers or guidance in the right direction
    would be very helpful!

If what you want to do is start the acquisition of channel 0 when channel 1 reaches the trigger condition and not start channel 2 until channel 3 reaches it's trigger condition, then no, you cna't do that unless you have multiple daq devices. What can be easily done is continuously acquire all channels and monitor your trigger channels. When the trigger condition is met, then perform the analysis/logging. On the Analyze>Waveform Monitoring palette is the Basic Level Trigger Detection function. Use one for each trigger channel and have it return either the index or relative time of the trigger occurance. This value can then be used to idex that portion of the measurement channel that you're interested in.

  • Multiple SSID channel question

I have 2 (for now) Aironet 1231g access points setup. They each have two SSIDs being broadcast on each one, both are the same two SSIDs. The question is, can can two different ssids from a single ap broadcast on the same channel. That means I would have both ssids broadcast on channel 6 on one of the APs then broadcast them both on channel 11 on the other? Or would each individual ssid have to be on its own non-overlapping channel? Both SSIDs are on seperate vlans. As of now it looks like it is working fine, I just want to make sure I have it configured the way it should be to work the best.

    Hi Chris.
Channels are by radio, not SSID.
    Exmaple
    (AP#1) Channel 1
    SSID - TEST1
    SSID - TEST2
    (AP#2) Channel 11
    SSID - TEST1
    SSID - TEST2
As you can see your TEST 1 will broacast on channel 1 and 11 ...
    Make sense?

  • Another external drive question

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've partitioned my WD 500 GB firewire 800 external drive into three partitions. My intention was to obtain a bootable backup in the first partition (100 GB) and have the other two as supplemental strorage for future use (200 GB and the remaining approx. 165 GB). After performing an immediate backup of the Macintosh HD into the first partition, I read that a "duplicate", not "backup" was required for boot purposes.
I'd really appreciate some suggestions here from those with more experience in these matters. My internal 500 GB HD has approximately 28 GB of used capacity currently (this will grow, of course, over time). Should I have created a partition for a bootable start up and "duplicated" the internal HD? Then, should I use a second partition for normal backups? What size should these partitions be configured to allow for maximum future storage, without pushing the limits on the backup/startup partitions? And finally, what are the steps to re-configure the external to achieve my desired intentions?
This is a lot of question, but I certainly appreciate the guidance provided me thus far in my early days of Mac enjoyment. Thanks.

Hello! Sounds like you have thought it out well. All you need now is to clone your main drive so it will be bootable. You can do that using CarbonCopyCloner, SuperDuper, or you can use the Apple Disk Utility you already have. A lot of people use SuperDuper and others swear by some of the others. Below are listed Kappy's steps to do it using the disk utility. I use several bootable backups just for peace of mind. I generally clone to one and then the other so if something happens during the cloning (such as a power outage) I'll still have a drive that works. I usually make a clone about once a month and then backup any important documents every day to a flash drive, cd/dvd, or another hard drive volume. Once you make a clone you should always boot from it to make sure it's booting ok. Sometimes a clone will fail to boot. I also HIGHLY recommend obtaining and using DISKWARRIOR. Diskwarrior is the "gold standard" for disk drive directory maintenance which is the leading cause of hard drive problems. Using DW about once a month or after any force shutdown, forced re-start, or power outage will head off most disk problems. Tom
Kappy's Steps to Produce a bootable clone
    Prep external FW drive:
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (journaled, if available) and click on the Erase button. This step can be skipped if the destination has already been freshly erased.
    4. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    5. Select the backup or destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Select the startup or source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    8. Select the destination drive on the Desktop and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom in the Ownership and Permissions section be sure the box labeled "Ignore Permissions on this Volume" is unchecked. Verify the settings for Ownership and Permissions as follows: Owner=system with read/write; Group=admin with read/write; Other with read-only. If they are not correct then reset them.
For added precaution you can boot into safe mode before doing the clone.

I'm hoping that will speed things along a bit?
    My main questions are...
Edit hardware my old Canopus DVD storm, and to a lesser degree my multibridge (now gone) add something, but on this setup there's no 'edit card' if that makes sense? Am I missing something (apart from an I/o device for capture p/tape export ((FireWire??)) any 'high end' work I do is on xdcam so no capture necessary?
Memory...what's the official line? Will the ripjaws work?
Gpu... Are the quadro cards better!? Or do they assume 'professionals' are less likely to over clock there cards and so offer longer warranty ;-)?
    Any other criticisms/ recommendations?
    Thanks
