Another slip up: 24-h clock in screensaver-mode!!

I like to set the clock in 24-hour mode, like most countries with metric system but wouldn't you expect to see that in screensaver mode?? Mine shows for ex 3.59 instead of 15.59 (NB: not even 3.59 PM!).
Lot of fixing to do, Apple! Where is QC?

Analogue clock on screensaver?

On the OS X Screen Saver there is an option to "Show with clock", however, this is in the 24-hour format, is it possible to get this as AM/PM or even to get an analogue clock to appear on the screen saver?

If you go into:
System Preferences > Language & Region > and uncheck "Time format: 24-Hour Time"
It will add the AM/PM to the clock in screensaver. At least for me it does. Other then possibly a third party screensaver I don't know of any with analog clocks.

Why won't my Macbook Pro go into sleep or screensaver mode?

For some reason my MacBook Pro stopped going into sleep or screensaver mode. I have always had my computer set on the most energy efficient settings. It used to go into sleep and screensaver mode just fine. I did not make any changes to my settings (and no one else has access to my computer) and now it just will not go to sleep by itself and it will not go into screensaver. The only light on my computer that still dims is the keyboard, it will dim when it is supposed to. Occasionally, my computer screen will randomly dim when it is supposed to, but then it will brighten again without me touching anything. Even more occasionally, it will go into sleep and screen saver mode, but this hardly ever happens. Can someone please tell me what is wrong?

You could check Activity Monitor and see if something is running in the background stopping it from going to sleep or having the screen saver come up.
That is what it sounds like. A program is keeping it from sleeping.

Update it appears that if I leave like a video or game open while I leave or turn it into safe mode it crashes it

Powerbook overheating when in screensaver mode

Hi,
Seems whenever my powerbook goes into screensaver mode, the fans are really working overtime, much louder then normal. Once I start working on an application, it settles down. But if I walk away or come home from being out, computer is in screensaver mode and the fans are churning away.
It's almost four years old, so maybe it's wheezing. Works fine otherwise, no noticeable problems, but just a bit concerned about this. Any suggestions?

Clock as screensaver. Help pleaseeee!!

I recently bought an Ipad2. When i am not using the Ipad i plan to wall mount it and use it as a clock. I have downloaded a few clock apps but i am struggling to have them appear as a screen saver. I want the clock to appear without having to load it, when the Ipad goes into sleep mode (screen dims to black) the clock appears as a default. Hoping this is possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Scanned PDF Images show up black in ScreenSaver Mode

In the past I've scanned random images, converting them to PDF files and adding them to a folder of photos to be used as a screensaver on my Mac, but the latest batch (on a new iMac, operating Mac OS X, v. 10.5.4 w/a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM memory), scanned using Adobe Reader v. 9, now show up solid black rather than the scanned image. For instance, older PDF files and JPEG photos show up, but the latest images, when cross-faded between the older ones, are displayed as solid black rather than the new image. The image appears when I open each document individually (so I know they were scanned correctly)...just not when accessed by the screensaver. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

What colour profile are these pics? Greyscale? iPhoto supports RGB, which is what cameras shoot in. Convert the pics to RGB and they will will display correctly.
You can change the Colour Profile of a photo in the Tools menu in Preview.

Calling another form when current form is in query mode

I have a form that is in query mode. When I select a menu option that calls another form through new_form, I get the error 'FRM-41009: Function key not allowed. Press Ctrl+F1 for list of valid keys.'
I would like trap this error, cancel the query and invoke the new form. I have tried to do this by code similar to this:

end if ;
new_form('someform') ;
(since exit_form in query mode is supposed to cancel the query).
But in this case, the trigger ends with the execution of the 'exit_form' statement.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the following will work:
When you call the EXIT_FORM builtin, Forms cancels out of Query Mode but also stops the current PL/SQ execution - which is annoying.
I believe, though, that the WHEN-WINDOW-ACTIVATED trigger will fire on your Form. Therefore, you can:
1) Set a Global Variable or PL/SQL packaged variable just before you call the EXIT_FORM builtin then
2) Test the value of the Global Variable in the WHEN-WINDOW-ACTIVATED trigger and perform the CALL_FORM there.
3) Even better, put the CALL_FORM and associated parameters into a Program Unit on the Form - then you can call it from either the original trigger or the WWA trigger as necessary.
If this does not work, you could resort to:
1) Set a Global Variable just before you call the EXIT_FORM builtin
2) Initiate a TIMER
3) Call the EXIT_FORM builtin
4) In a WHEN-TIMER-EXPIRED trigger, check the value of the Global variable. If it's set, Call the Form you want to call
5) Again, put the actual CALL_FORM in a Program Unit so it can easily be called with the correct parameters from wherever you need to call it.
It's annoying that you need to go to these lengths to perform what seems to be such an easy task!
If anyone knows any better ways of achieving this, please add another reply!

Fuzzy photos in screensaver mode

After installing iPhoto 6, some of the already existing photos in my library show up fuzzy when they come up on my screensaver?

I have the same situation. It has nothing to do with photo resolution: my camera is 10 megapixel. Some photos are great, others are jaggy. What gives?

Clock in bedside mode

I test it on 9900 Bedside mode, It turns off automatically after about 30 seconds when not charging.

Over Clocking in turbo mode

I have found a clock speed that works good but i can only use it in slow mode which turns off the performance mode on the memory. Is there going to be a Bios update for this prob. Or am i the only one who can't OC in anything other than slow mode?.
the turbo mode only works i can't even use the best one it just freezes up.

I`ve got the same setup with stock cooling, origanally had kingston kvr400x64c3a/512 x2 value ram, had to get better ram to overclock with that ram turbo and seargent were best settings possible. As for pat\mat (performance mode other than slow) looks like about 220 fsb is its limit for most people even my new ram craps out on performance mode(fast) at 217. For overclocking high speed ram is best like 500+ (expensive), with your extreme cooling try ddr frequency of 333 or 266 and pump up the fsb, but like I said with my value ram I didnt have much luck overclocking.

My computer will, at random times, almost or completely go into screensaver mode, and either go black for a few seconds, start my screensaver, or go directly to the 'log back in' screen.

This happens when I'm literally DOING something, like typing or moving my mouse. When I'm in no way not doing anything on my computer. Any thoughts on why?
Specs: Version 10.6.7, 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB.

This might sound silly, but I'd check your Exposé settings: System Preferences > Exposé & Spaces > Exposé
It's just possible you've set up a hot corner to put your computer into sleep mode when the mouse wanders in that direction.

I am using IE8 in Window 7.
I opened a certain web page in kiosk mode (call IE browser with -k option, a full screen without window frame). While this page remained opened, I pressed ‘Window key + D’ to return to desktop. After that I went to Microsoft Outlook, opened
a mail and clicked a URL in the mail. The URL was opened in kiosk mode which was not I expected. I expected to have this URL opened in normal IE browser mode.
I tried the same action, while a web page was opened in kiosk mode and it remained opened, I returned to desktop and opened a URL within a Word document or Excel document. The URL was opened in normal IE browser mode. It appeared that there was
something special with Outlook.

In getURL you had a method parameter _self, look URLRequest
definition in Flash help to see if it receives a similar parameter.
_self is for link to open in same browser window, _blank is used
for a new window.

Question re standby clock N95

Hi,
I've just got an N95. With my SE K800 when it was in clock 'screensaver' mode you could press the volume keys on the side to cause the back light on the screen to illuminate so you could see the clock-pressing other keys would take you to the main screen. Doesn't seem to work this way on the N95-it's retarded-when I wake up in the night etc I just want the little status screen saver to be illuminated so I can read the time etc.
Any ideas-anyone else understand what I'm on about?!

World Clock Not Found

Hi I am having a problem with the World Clock Widget. When Tiger first came out I downloaded a Wideget the helped manage widgets (before apple took care of this) and I ended up deleting that widget. But sometime when I was using that widget World Clock deleted. Now the widget bar has the default widget sign and nothing happens when I click on the widget. I have looked at the widgets folder and it is listed, but it is the only widget in the list with the name ending in ".wdgt". I thought it was just something I may have moved but I've looked a lot of places and can't find anything that I may have done. I tried to download another version of the World Clock and even after trying to install that widget nothing showed up so I'm assuming that the original World Clock is messing it up. Does anyone out there know how this can be fixed w/o reinstalling Tiger. Thanks for your help.

That's why. AFAIK you cannot download any of the original widgets from your system. You can use Pacifist to extract and install just that widget from your install disks, or you can email me and I'll send you the World Clock widget.
