Any alternatives to BISAC subject categories in iTunes Producer

When preparing a book package in iTunes Producer you need to select the BISAC subject category that best describes your book. However, none of the available subject categories really works for my novel. I had to choose one, just to get past this requirement. But is there a way to go beyond these categories and come up with others more suitable to what you've written? The description I wrote for my book more accurately describes it but when potential buyers search by subject category for books to purchase, mine would appear in a list it really doesn't belong in. I'd like readers to find my book but right now they'll be able to because of these limited subject headings.

Thing is, if you go to the iBooks store and search the term ANIMAL STORIES you get several screens of titles. You also get many titles when you search SURVIVAL STORIES or FOX STORIES. But my book KIP

is not among them. So the iBooks store does recognize those terms; they're just not available in iTunes Producer. Perhaps books that get into the iBooks store through some other means than iTunes Producer have more options for descriptive search terms.

For downloading, the only alternative would be to use a computer with a better Internet connection to download the iTunes installer and then copy it to your computer via a USB flash drive, external hard drive, etc.
As to your other question, you cannot directly deauthorize a computer that's not working or to which you no longer have access. You can, however, go into your iTunes Store account and there will be a "deauthorize all" button. You can then re-authorize the computers you're using now.
Note that you can only use the "deauthorize all" option once per year, unless something's changed very recently.

TS1363 Is there any alternative to iTunes for copying music onto an iPod? I am sick to the back teeth of Apple and I am really getting annoyed at having to uninstall and reinstall iTunes every few weeks.

I have iTunes on 2 PCs, one running Windows 7 pro, the other running Windows 8. I also have 2 iPods which show up in Windows but not iTunes. Every time this happens I have to delete and download iTunes again, losing my library (nearly 10,000 tracks) in the process. I have had enough of Apple and their crap software as this problem has happened to me on previous computers as well and I think iTunes is crap. Is there some alternative I can use instead of iTunes to put music on my iPods?

I find that the 'iphone backup extractor' program is very useful, however it is quite annoying that they limit the extraction to 4 files at a time and that we have to pay in order to get our own data files propperly. :S
When I restore my old backup from iTunes, every new thing is gone, when I restore the backup I just made, the old backup stuff has gone. It just replaces each other.
Apple should have their own software like this where you can extract what ever you want from your old backups and transfer it on to your phone, such as contacts for example.
Anyway, I was wondering if there is any alternatives for this program, or any other way I can extract my backup files ?

If you're on a Mac, there is a "free" iPhone backup extractor, but none that I know of for Windows. You could always code your own program, that would be free.
Apple doesn't provide a mechanism to do this for the simple reason they don't want users screwing with the iPhone backup. Thus, none of these third-party programs are supported.

I'm not sure how this is an iTunes issue, but anyway, other than buying the apps from the Mac App Store (note that iDVD and iWeb are not available via the App Store), the only alternative is to call Apple support and give them the serial number of your Mac. They can usually sell you a new disk set for a reasonable fee.

hallo iam just starting with JavaScript in CS3 and what i found most confusing is the Adobe's Object Model Viewer in ExtendScript2...
its no help whatsoever and i didnt figure out the logics of the various dictionary items listed, whatsoever...
if this is currentlly the only complete reference to CS3 JavaScript model than god help us....

have you tried InDesign CS3 AppleScript Dictionary in Apple's ScriptEditor... thats a dictionary of object model as i would imagine
1) its FULLY tree-structured dictionary from topmost level down
2) all items are categorized and sorted BY TYPE using various icons
3) every item has a properties catalog card with nice english explanations of that function with hyperlinks to all other relevant items

I have to admit that I don't understand. I see very little difference between the ESTK object model viewer and the AppleScript dictionary viewer. If anything, I think the ESTK version is superior because it connects methods with their objects--something that the AppleScript viewer doesn't do at all. But I pretty much find them equivalent.
Regardless, the descriptions are *identical* between the object model viewer in the ESTK, the AppleScript dictionary viewer, and the Visual Basic/VBA object browser. All descriptions come from the scripting resources in InDesign, and all languages use the same description string.
Jongware's HTML version, however, is much better than any of the above. Its hyperlinking is very good, and everything else can be found with your browser's Find command.
Relying on the object model viewers has freed me from the task of maintaining the reference PDFs--which was taking almost all of my time. Without that burden, I can focus on writing the Scripting Guides, Scripting Tutorial, and example scripts. While I agree that the object model viewers aren't perfect, I believe that this is a better use of my time. I think that scripting examples are more useful, overall, than reference documentation (which simply repeats the information from the scripting resources, in any case).
One very nice thing--because we have to rely on the object model viewers, we were allowed to fix literally hundreds of errors in the descriptions in the scripting resources.

I would like to free up all the space my iTunes Library takes up on my MacBook Pro, so I was considering purchasing an portable external hard drive to hold my iTunes Library…then it dawned on me… why shouldn’t I just be able to use my iPod for this? But not as simply a hard drive, but be able to access my songs on the iPod the same as I do now?

You can delete all the songs from your computer and just keep them on the iPod by changing the update option of your iPod to "manually manage music and videos". In manual mode you can connect and play the songs from your iPod through iTunes on your computer. You can get details here: Managing content manually on iPod
One major word of caution. If you delete songs from your computer and have no back up other than the iPod you will risk losing them permanently if your iPod fails or you find you have to restore it to solve a problem (and that's a very strong possibility). You should reconsider your original idea of investing in an external hard drive to store/back up your music. Alternatively at the very least back up songs you can't replace such as iTunes downloads to CD or DVD. iTunes has never been able to play FLAC. You may have been using a third party plugin which enabled this and you will have to check if they have updated. Alternatively the closest to FLAC in iTunes is Apple Lossless. You will have to use a third party tool such as XLD to convert from FLAC to ALE.

Hm, good suggestion, but I've actually already done this (and I've had a friend go through the steps with me). There is just NOTHING that is showing up under any of the categories in the cloud for downloading. The thing is, I'm just not sure if I enabled cloud-sharing or not on my iphone (although I know I've backed up my data through cloud on my iphone at some point).
Any other suggestions?

PPMDT error 'no subject categories can be displayed'

I got an error 'no object found' in MSS reporting in QAS server.
When i run PPMDT the error 'No subject categories can be displayed' is displayed.
Everything works fine in DEV server. What is wrong? did I miss any step?

The PPMDT is working fine. But is still got error 'no object found' in mss reporting.
I also found that I when I run T-Code PWPC_Conv_MDT_TO_LPA it shows blank in the screen.
For your info, i already:
1) run the FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES in SE38 (Tick MSS reporting and MSS with folders, unchecked test run)
2) run T-Code PWPC_CONV_MDT_TO_LPA (unchecked test run. The list is empty)
3) T-Code fpb_launchpad_cust ( Just show the Manager Self Service Reporting)
What step did i miss? please guide.

If you bought an Apple gift card, then you cannot use it in the iTunes store. You can only use it in the Apple store for hardware.
You would need an iTunes gift card to buy anything in iTunes

ITunes won't sync any music that was not purchased from iTunes onto my iPhones 5S

I have updated to Mavericks on my macbook, and iTunes will no longer sync my iPhone 5S properly. It does not remove any music that has been deleted. My phone will no longer play any music that was not purchased from iTunes. I tried to delete all my music and download it again, but iTunes would not remove it from the phone. Is anyone having a similar problem? Any ideas to get things back to normal? I am restoring from back up as I type, but I doubt it will solve my problem.

I had the exact same problem since upgrading to Mavericks. When I tried to copy the music from iTunes, either wifi or wired, it appeared in 'On this phone' greyed out. Forcing a sync didn't help. I noticed too that iTunes showed odd values for the amount of space available on the phone - around 9GB compared to 27GB on the phone itself.
I solved the problem by turning off iTunes Match, turning it back on again, then reconnecting my iPhone.
