Any API to get handle to Outbound BPEL process endpoint activation?

Hi,
we are developing both inbound and outbound BPEL processes using a custom JCA 1.5 based adapter. For the inbound BPEL process deployment/undeployment, we have the ResourceAdapter's endpointActivate() endpointDeactivate() methods called in and so we can post process, like clean up endpoints when these methods get called. Is there somethign simillar that we can use as an API to get a handle to the outbound process endpoints deactivate/activate, so that we can clean up these too, or does the oracle adapter framework internally clean these up?
Also even though we undeploy all processes before stopping the adapter (from the bpel console), after that if we redeploy the adapter rar, from then on any new BPEL process deployment (through jdeveloper) always throws a "500 Internal Server Error". Only after restarting the SOA, then on any new deployments go through fine. This is a serious limitation for us.. Any idea why this is happening and how to resolve this?
Thanks
Pramodh

Hi Pramodh,
That's a nice requirement.
The inbound (ActivationSpec) properties can only be set dynamically (typically via the BPEL console) if their values are bound via property values defined in bpel.xml for the particular JCA Activation Agent in question. This is fundamentally as per the JCA 1.5 design where EndpointActivation (which receives an instance of ActivationSpec) takes place when the BPEL process starts up, i.e. only once. More often than not the BPEL process will have to be bounced (Off/On) for ActivationSpec attribute changes to take effect (thereby allowing the JCA 1.5 inbound message endpoint to be restarted/reinitialized). Some adapters do look dynamically for changes to bpel.xml bound values (subscribed to via the adapter framework) and will react appropriately without the need for bumping the process (e.g. adjusting a timeout or retryCount or other secondary attribute which doesn't change the first order attributes of the endpoint, such as e.g. the database host name etc). An example of an activation property which requires the adapter to restart is the JMS adapter MessageSelector property.
Having said that, please try using the activation agent properties set in the outbound PL and see if that works!
Cheers
A

    Hi Pratap,
    thanks for your reply.
    only user API can resolve my requirement.
    I have an OAF page in ebs user can link from other application system named 'aaa' after login 'aaa' system,and user can open the oaf page without input username and password,as i have granted the oaf page to guest user.
    Before display the oaf page, i should get the previous page'url to check if the user login 'aaa' application system first.

    From:
    <binding.jca config="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL_invoke_3P.jca"
    operation="ns1:BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL"/>
    To:
    <binding.jca config="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL_invoke_3P.jca"
    operation="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL"/>

  • Any API to get a collection of object and it's property in a page

    Just wondering whether Oracle provides any API which is able to return a collection of object in page and then I can read the object name and its attributes. If such API exists, it will make my life easier to code the logic because I don't have to hardcode the object name.

    I found the solution myself:
    Using a cursor of
    select ITEM_NAME, LABEL from APEX_030200.APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_ITEMS
    where
    workspace=[Workspace Name] and
    application_id=[APP_ID] and
    page_id=[PAGE ID]
    order by
    display_sequence;
    Then I can use v("ITEM_NAME") to find out the values of each page item. With this method I don't have to hardcode all the item name in the PL/SQL code. e.g. If I want to validate a page that all items cannot be empty, I can use this way, rather then creating multiple validation rules.

  • Unable to get callback from Asynchronous BPEL process to work (AXIS Client)

    Hello,
    I am calling an Asynchronous BPEL process from an AXIS client, and I am unable to get the callback functionality to work. The AXIS client code has been generated from WSDL2Java using the BPEL process' WSDL file.
    I CAN insert an invoke node in the BPEL process and invoke my Callback web service using that, but obviously that means the BPEL process is limited to only responding to one pre-determined client, which won't work.
    My questions:
    - How does the BPEL process know what endpoint to use to make the callback?
    - Do I need to modify the generated code to create a SOAP Envelope and invoke the process with the envelope, intead of the invokeOneWay call?
    - If I do need to create a SOAP Envelope with a replyto element, what is the structure of a typical BPEL envelope? Is there an example somewhere?
    I have looked at the examples in the interop directory, specifically the AXIS calling Async BPEL, but I would like to try to keep the client code as independent as possible (I don't really want to have a dependency on the OTN library).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thank you.
    -Ryan

    Please have a look at the Binding in the WSDL. Axis must provide the ReplyTo and
    MessageId information there. As far as I see, this must be done by an Axis-Handler,
    because the Binding-Part in not generated by WSDL2Java.
    I was able to generate the JavaClasses by using the "WSDL2Java -a" option, but
    I still do not see how to use them in a handler and how to register the handler.
    Maybe someone can give me a hint.

  • Creating a Web Service to handle flow between BPEL process and XML Gateway

    I am new to Web Services. I have never created one, yet I have the task of designing the following for a project.
    Any help as to what steps I need to take would be very very helpful. There is a lot of information on XML, SOA and WSDL out there that it can get very confusing, and sometimes you just need someone to point the way
    What I need to do is create a Custom Send and a Custom Receive Program (both web services) handle the message flow between an Enterprise BPEL processes and a Deployed XML Gateway.
    BPEL compresses this XML business object document (for faster transmission), and sends remotely to this Custom Receive web service, which in turn calls a decompress java program and then send the document to the XML gateway inbound web service.
    The Custom Send web service does just the opposite. It needs to take the business object document from XML gateway, call the compress java program and then send to the Enterprise BPEL.
    In a nutshell...these Custom Send/Receive Web services handle the message flow between the Enterprise BPEL process and the Deployed XML Gateway.
    What I need help on...
    -Creating this in JDeveloper- where do I get started?
    -How does a web service receive a compressed file sent to me via BPEL? Does it just sit there waiting for it?
    -Is this a synchronous or asynchronous design?
    -Will this be 2 web services (Send and Receive) or do I make 1 with 2 functionalities
    -How do I call the java compress/decompress program within the web service? (this java function is already created and ready to be called)
    -Is this decompressed business object file an XML schema and an XML message? Or just a message?
    -I need to send this to the XML Gateway Web Service to load. How does that work?
    -I have a Generic XML Gateway WSDL file...I assume I need to take all the info I get and map it to this template? Is this true? How do I do that?
    Like I said, any help would be appreciated. Links answers to my many questions would be fabulous.
    -Jason

    If you are talking about simple XML transformation of the SOAP payload between the client calling your service and the final destination of the message you are routing, the ESB approach may be a better fit.
    If you have more complex transformation in mind, with major processing and rework of the message in the intermediary, you may be better of with using the POJO approach. Write your service and embed a callout to the other service in your implementation. If the two services share the same Java Model, you may even be able to re-use the same Java Bean.
    To get SOAP Element instead of Java bean, you just need to use the noDataBinding option with either genProxy and topDownAssemble (or assemble). See the WS-Guide [1] for details. Chapter 18 will give you all the details about the different WSA command line parameters.
    Hope this helps,
    -Eric

    Looks like you don't have WebLogic classes on the classpath:
    javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Cannot instantiate class: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory]
    Other options for creating an instance are to use a web service call or one of the other adapters (e.g. JMS). If you need to directly start a process you might also look at this blog from the ATeam:
    http://redstack.wordpress.com/worklist/
    The specific example for getting the tasks is at: http://redstack.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/implementing-task-initiation/
    Then the real work of creating an instance from the initiator tasks is at: http://redstack.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/creating-the-domain-layer-for-the-worklist/

  • DOS 11g SOA have the Locator API's - How to Invoke a BPEL process from Java

    In BPEL 10.1.3.1, a java client could use the "Locator" API's to look up a BPEL service and invoke it directly from Java,
    Is that still present in SOA 11g ? Or is there another way to look up the BPEL process ...
    Here's an example of the 10g BPEL Service locator facilities :
    Get the BPEL service locator. This is retrieved as follows:
    loc = new Locator(domain, domainPassword);
    The initial installation BPEL domain is "domain" and the initial password is "bpel". We then use the locator to get the delivery service. We could also use the locator to retrieve the workflow service.
    IDeliveryService svc = (IDeliveryService)loc.lookupService(IDeliveryService.SERVICE_NAME);
    Now we have the delivery service we can "deliver" requests to the BPEL process. To do this we first need to create a new message.
    NormalizedMessage msg = new NormalizedMessage();
    String content = "<SyncHelloWorldProcessRequest xmlns=\"http://antony.blog/SyncHelloWorld\">"+
    "<input>"+
    name+
    "</input>"+
    "</SyncHelloWorldProcessRequest>";
    msg.addPart(msgPart, content);

    Eric, when I select the BPEL wsdl file in "Create Web Service Data Control" wizard, immediately I am getting the error. When I click 'OK', the 'Service' dropdown is disabled and blank in the wizard.
    Thanks for pointing to the sample application URL. But it is built in jdev 10g. Can I migrate it to 11g?
    Thanks both of you!

  • Fault policies not getting executed for called BPEL process

    Hi,
    I am facing one issue in execution of fault policy for a called BPEL Process.
    I have two BPEL Processes - BPELProcess1 and BPELProcess2.
    We have fault-policies and fault-bindings file.
    Case1 - BPELProcess2 is synchronous :-
    BPELProcess2 throws a fault of selectionFailure.
    Now this fault is defined in fault-policies and fault policy is bound to BPELProcess2 component in fault-bindings.xml file.
    But this fault policy is NOT getting executed.
    This selectionFailure fault from BPELProcess2 goes unhandled and in BPELProcess1, invoke activity gets this unhandled fault and raises a fault "remoteFault".
    This remotefault is also defined in fault-bindings and bound to BPELProcess1 component. Here fault policy bound to BPELProcess1 is working fine.
    So problem is that for called process, fault policies are not getting executed while for calling process, they are getting executed.
    Case1 - BPELProcess2 is Asynchronous
    BPELProcess2 is asynchronous. So same situation happening here. Fault policy for BPELProcess2 is not getting executed on throwing selectionFailure.
    But now here, since BPELProcess2 is async in nature, BPELProcess1 is not getting response and it is always waiting for response which is wrong.
    So how can we use fault policies in this case?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Parshant

    So that means - only fault originating from invoke activity in BPEL can be associated with a fault policy. No other fault can be associated. Even if I throw a selectionFault from throw activity, that will not be captured. Only fault from invoke activity can be associated with a fault policy.
    Please confirm.
    Thanks,

  • How to handle no of BPEL process Instances

    Hi,
    I am facing issue at my cleint. Here is the scenario
    1) I have Business Event
    2) BPEL is subscribed to event using Oracle Application Adapter
    3) No every time new message comes in queue, causes new BPEL process Instances
    4) So suppose there are 1 million message per day then BPEL Server is dying.
    What is the best way to handle it?

    This is managed via the dspMaxThreads and ReceiverThreads parameters, by default these are set to poor values, dspMaxThreads by default is set to 100 (domain level) whereas by default ReceiverThreads is set to 40. According to the performance guide the total of dspMaxThreads for all domains should be <= ReceiverThreads, so making some adjustment to the dspMaxThreads parameter should help.

  • Want to get request number to BPEL process in an interval

    Hi All,
    I have two applications A and B.I need to receive request message from A to B through BPEL process. BPEL process receives the request data(through schema- Source of transform activity) from A and updates that data into B(Target -request schema of B).BPEL process is the middleware between two applications
    My requirement is :
    I want to analize request data in an interval of 24 hours. I have one parameter('sequence') in the request schema of B which has to indicate the request number to BPEL process.
    Clear explanation to requirement details:
    Application A starts pushing data at 12 'o clock(0:00 hrs midnight) and then parameter 'sequence' should be integer 1 or 0.Like that 'Sequence' should be increased by 1 for every request to BPEL process.
    I want the sequence values like below(for 24 hrs cycle):
    First request :
    Reuqest push time - 0:00 hrs
    Sequence - 1
    BPEL process instance(which will be created automaically in EM console) - Instance1
    Second Request :
    Reuqest push time - 1:30 hrs
    Sequence - 2
    BPEL process instance(which will be created automaically in EM console) - Instance2
    1
    Third Request:
    Reuqest push time - 4:00 hrs
    Sequence - 3
    BPEL process instance(which will be created automaically in EM console) - Instance3
    Like that
    last request in 24 hrs cycle should be :
    Reuqest push time - 23:00 hrs
    Sequence - Some number according to number of requests at that time.
    After 24 hrs ,Sequence again should become as 1 to indicate the starting point of the 24 hrs next day.(like data in above table)
    Can you help me in this regard? I am using transform activity in which I have 'sequence' parameter .
    Thanks in advance

    Create a "While" activity.
    Create a variable named seq of type int.
    In the while condition check the current time.
    xp20:current-time() < <counter reset time>
    Create a pick activity to receive the message inside while loop.
    Create assign activity in the while loop. Assign the value of variable seq to the payload and increment it by one.
    Outside while loop , reset seq back to 0 by using another assign activity.
    In case the composite has to run continuously after first submission, use another outer while loop to check the condition while seq = 0.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards.

  • Problem with asyn bpel process assign activity

    hi
    i m creating asyn bpel process,in my assign activity,i want to copy operation.But it seems that when i expand my input variable it doesnt expand.so i m not able to copy.what would be the reason.anybody suggest me
    thanks

    works for me
    i added the xsd to my composite application
    created a new bpel in it, for input/ouput used both your elements.
    after that i added the assign and could just 'browse' the tree to both the input-element and the result-element, with this result :
        <sequence name="main">
            <!-- Receive input from requestor. (Note: This maps to operation defined in BPELProcess2.wsdl) -->
            <receive name="receiveInput" partnerLink="bpelprocess2_client" portType="client:BPELProcess2" operation="process" variable="inputVariable" createInstance="yes"/>
            <!--
              Asynchronous callback to the requester. (Note: the callback location and correlation id is transparently handled using WS-addressing.)
            -->
            <assign name="my_assign">
                <copy>
                    <from variable="inputVariable" part="payload"
                          query="/ns1:AsyncallerProcessRequest/ns1:input"/>
                    <to variable="outputVariable" part="payload"
                        query="/ns1:AsyncallerProcessResponse/ns1:result"/>
                </copy>
            </assign>
            <invoke name="callbackClient" partnerLink="bpelprocess2_client" portType="client:BPELProcess2Callback" operation="processResponse" inputVariable="outputVariable"/>
        </sequence>when you put your bpel in design mode (first tab), and the and the left bottom browse to <your process.bpel> > Variables > Process > Variables > inputVariable > payload > ns1:AsyncallerProcessRequest > input
    you do see this element ?
    at the bottom fo this window you see a checkbox "show detailed node information", in case of errors or non validation xsd's this would be usefull, but the xsd validates for me.
    any other errors you can find ?

  • How to use multiple WSDL operations in One BPEL process Recieve Activity ?

    Is there anyway to attach multiple WSDL operations with a Single BPEL process ? How ?

    Thanks Melvin for your quick respond.
    When I create a BPEL process, It asks me to give the XSD as an Input. When I import the XSD it asks me to select an operation not more than one. Let suppose I select addRequest and finish the wizard.
    Now what I can see, It create Recieve activity with an Input msg of Add operation. Well what I understand from your statement is that, I remove the recieve activity and put the Pick activity.
    Now my question is How to mention the other operations like update and delete ? And how to test them ?? The link provided by you is just tell me what Pick activity can do for me, But its not telling me how to use it ?? and how the give the operation to it. Where should I need to change in the BPEL ???

  • Problems with: orcl:lookup-xml in BPEL process transformation activity

    All,
    I'm trying to do a lookup (using orcl:lookup-xml) from a transform activity within a BPEL process.
    The function editor in JDeveloper tells me that the following params are needed:
    - docURL
    - parentXPath
    - keyXPath
    - lookupXPath
    - key
    All of this is clear! In the examples I can find on the oracle site, the value for the docURL is always like: "file:/x:/somefile.xml". This works fine when I test the xsl on my local development pc. However when I deploy to my test environment (SOA Suite on Linux) this file reference isn't going to work obviously.
    I want the docURL to point to an XML file which I include in the deploy of the BPEL process. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
    Hope you can help!
