Any good APEX training class in NJ?

Hi,
I'm a newbie to APEX. I'm at the point that I think I could use some serious APEX training.
what's your thought on APEX training? Did you folks just pick it up by yourself? How? BTW, the thousands of pages of User Manual/Advanced Tutorial do NOT help much, sometimes, they could be even confusing.
Any pointer to any good APEX training classes in NJ is appreciated. For some reason, APEX training in NJ is not on Oracle University's schedule. Or any other alternative? via video?
Thanks much,
Helen

I took the first two courses on APEX from DBCON (http://www.dbcon.com/courses.html). It's an online course which I'm not a huge fan of normally, but these two courses were helpful for me. The courses also included the "Pro Oracle Application Express" book which has also been helpful for me:

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no relationship with DBCON whatsoever. Just my two bits.

  • Know any Good Flash Training DVD's For Sale?

    Hi, I am looking to purchase some good flash training videos
    for building sites and animation. I was wondering if anyone could
    recommend any.
    Thanks

    It may be more practical to get a membership to lynda.com or
    totaltraining.com. We have found software updates are frequent and
    the membership allows us to keep up with new versions. Our old
    "videos" sit on shelves and the cost of a few DVD's was alot more
    than one year membership to one of these services.

  • Any US-based JavaCard training classes?

    I'm looking for JavaCard training classes based in the US. I've seen one in Dublin and another in Prague, but for me the travel cost should be less than the tuition! <grin>
    Specifically, I'm looking for a technical class on JC 2.2.1, with GlobalPlatform, and JCOP thrown in for good measure. Not looking for a marketing/sales class on how wonderful things would be if we'd only use smartcards, but a hands-on developer class with lab exercises, etc.
    Any leads/comments/URLS appreciated in advance.

    I've just wrote a simple accessor implementing the CardAccessor Interface myself. So it seems, that Javacard RMI now works in combination with the Smartcard IO interface.

    Rithu,
    This would be a good place to start: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff628958(v=office.14).aspx
    There are also several videos on Youtube as well. I am not sure if there is a 'structured' course available for Project Server 2010

    Hi,
    Scott Spendolini offers a great training session: http://sumnertechnologies.com/ I know he's also offering some online courses (click on the "Training" tab at the top).
    There's also the book that John Scott and Scott Spendolini just wrote: Pro Oracle Application Express (search for it on Amazon)
    We've had him come for training twice and have received a lot of positive feedback from my colleagues.

  • Advanced Muse Training Classes/Trainer

    I'm looking for a training class for Muse (Intermediate/Advanced) in the NYC/Long Island area or a skilled private trainer.. preferably a 1 or 2 day training course.. there doesn't seem to be much out there. I have many ideas but am having trouble executing and therefore, my project has come to a standstill. Please respond to my post or message me if you can help. Thanks!

    the website you are referring (it's nice) does use other programs i note, which probably means some expertise in html JS and Adobe Edge (i love Edge) as much as Muse. For instance Muse has no scroll widget. I wanted a scroll capability once (and it has been recommended here before), but then i learnt to live without it and now frankly, with all the alternatives that Muse has to offer, i'd rather not use it even if it were available. The beauty of Muse is of course its simplicity and dare i say functionality (there are some things i wish they would remedy particulry when using video) which, I think, have made me a far better website designer.
    So, in a sense, there's nothing really complicated about Muse and that's why I recommended lynda.com. I'm cool with basic, since Rembrandt's tools were just that. As for private training classes, I am not much help, but if there are any in your area i'm sure they will have made there whereabouts known through Google. Good luck with your project.

  • Online Training Classes

    Hello,
    I am looking for training with the creative cloud. Are there any online classes that go along with my subscription? I'm not talking about simple training videos - I need full training for my employees. Perhaps an online seminar?
    Thanks!

    I ended up taking the RCP Quickstart class online by Modular Mind and it more than met my expectations: Patrick (the instructor) covered the topics very thoroughly and I particularly liked the format of the class.
    This online class lacks nothing in comparison to on-site training classes because the size of the class is small, the notes for the class are exceptional and you can ask any question at any time.
    I was very happy with Patrick's passion and level of expertise not only in Eclipse plugin development and RCP but also in the maven-based build "tycho" which my team uses. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn RCP in a very fast and effective way.

  • Are there any good code examples for displaying preview images in the storefront?

    I can gather other info using folio.xxx, but can not find any good examples to use for preview images.  Tried folio.getPreviewImage() with no success.  Oh, I should mention it is version 2.  Plenty of examples for version 1.
    Perhaps if I get a little more specific.
    I am calling up the folios via:
           adobeDPS.libraryService.folioMap.addedSignal.add(function(folios) {
                for (var i = 0; i < folios.length; i++) {
                    addFolio(folios[i]);
            }, this);
    This eventually works into a function where I am gathering and displaying folio data:
         var productId = folio.productId;
        var html  = "<div id='" + productId + "'>";
            html +=     "<a href='#'><img class='shadow' width='120' src='' border=0 /></a>";
            html +=     "<br /><span class='bold'>" + folio.title + "</span>";
            html += "</div>";
        this.$el = $(html);
    folio.title works fine to pull up the title, but I can no longer use folio.getPreviewURL in v2.  What code should I be using to set the src to the preview image?
    Thanks

    Have you looked at the default implementations of the library?
    In FolioItemView's render function, there is a function(follow the nested functions!):
    setTimeout(function(){ scope.loadPreviewImage() }, 100);
    It references this function (this doesn't copy well):
    loadPreviewImage: function() {
    if (this.el.parentElement) {
    var transaction = this.folio.getPreviewImage(135, 180, true);
    transaction.completedSignal.addOnce(this.getPreviewImageHandler, this);
    Going deeper, into the getPreviewImageHandler function is where you see the url value..
    if (transaction.state == adobeDPS.transactionManager.transactionStates.FINISHED && transaction.previewImageURL != null) {
                                  this.$el.find(".folio-thumb").attr("src", transaction.previewImageURL);
    Within the example is also code for supplying a preview when the Adobe API is not available:
    (Within the render function)
    var json = this.model.toJSON();
    $folioThumb.attr("src", json.libraryPreviewUrl);
    If you're making any changes to where the preview is displayed, you can just swap out the class ".folio-thumb" to whatever the class (or id) is of the element you're wanting to render the preview in.

  • Need suggestions for good online Adobe classes in photoshop, ill. indesign etc.

    Hi I am a graphic designer and would like some suggestions for good online Adobe classes ... I found
    Adobe Master Series Online Training Library at the Adobe store and was wondering has anyone had good, bad ugly experience with this before I make the purchase. The suite offers training in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, and various Macromedia titles so it covers it all for me in one go.

    A less expensive, non-subscription option would be http://www.vtc.com they offer many video cds for applications that have given many I know a leg up on learning an application.

  • Heard any good asm/nasm tutorials lately?

    i'm taking a programming languages class with a great professor but my first assembler program (currently working on) is with function pointers and calling C/C++ functions from assembler.  i feel like i've missed out on learning the "dumb" stuff, and for once was wondering if anyone knew a good, comprehensive assembler tutorial that touches on the silly little stuff i might have overlooked, specifically using nasm (what my later courses will also use). i've tried searching myself, but the best i could come up with is learning assembler for linux after already being experienced in assembler w/ dos (useless for me).
    if not anything online, any good suggestions for books?

    Tom,
    Just to add in some my thoughts.. You probably get more money from the OKP materials than the standard courses IMHO.  If you don't already have a license for the CRM 40, CRM 50 and CRM 2006s/2007 OKP materials then you should purchase it.  The OKP materials for CRM 40 almost cover the fundamentals of how the system works and the associated functionality.  It is quite easy then to pick each new release after reading the 40 baseline materials.
    You will probably learn more by working with a CRM sandbox or building actual scenario than what the classes can teach you.  The classes are good if you need an overview of the material and want to get away from your office and focus on learning.
    I have somehow managed to in the last several years to get by with very little classroom training, but tons of self study using the system materials and OKP materials.  I don't claim to know every aspect of CRM, but you can get things done on your own.
    Oh btw the material you found online is probably an illegal copy of that material.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • Any good books on Aperture 3?

    Any good tutorial or guide books for Aperture 3. I'd love to see a Scott Kelby-esque book on the software to work with.

    Some are mentioned in this Luminous Landscape thread:
    http://luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41963
    I have found the following resources useful:
    . The Ap3 manual in PDF form. Download, keep it open in Preview, annotate freely. Also on-line: http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=16%26se ction=13%26tasks=true
    . The "Exploring Aperture" PDF, which contains some tutorials based on the sample library which ships with the Ap3 installation disk. http://support.apple.com/manuals/#aperture
    . The Apple video tutorials. Disappointedly lightweight, but still worth one run-through. http://www.apple.com/aperture/how-to/#video-quickpreview
    . There are some video tutorials sold here: http://shop.maccreate.com/collections/aperture-videos . Ellen Anon does a good job. The tutorial of Bricks is thorough. The one on Histogram is not. I found the Q&A webinar not worth the time it took to watch. The same Web site has a series of hints (free) -- there are worth paging through.
    . Other than the manual (900 pages) none of those are books. The Apple Pro Training book should be out next month (April 12). It seems to be the one to buy (trainers at my local Apple store are waiting for it). http://www.peachpit.com/store/product.aspx?isbn=0321647440
