Any good sound free sound effects links?

Hi,
Ive stumbled upon a few sites that have free sound FX's but the ones I want which I wuld think are the easiest to get I cant find.
I want a sound for when someone clicks the right thing, like a under a sec tiriring or something like when you kill a guy in Leauge of Legends or something like that and also one for when you click the wrong thing like an windows warning ut a little different, yet all the sites and SFX I come across are for everything but those.
Anyone have any good links?

Know any good 'space-rocker' sounds

I've got an important gig with new band in early April and need to find some classic 'space-rocker' swirly soundscape type sounds to suit a Hawkwind, Steve Hillage, Gong type retro-prog band. I've only just got Mainstage up and running and have yet to wade through all the Logic Pro sounds. If anyone knows which of the soft-synths is likely to be the best to start fiddling with that would be great. Maybe you have some fave trippy 'soundscape' presets you've found already? Or if you know of any 3rd-party soft-synths that are geared towards this genre of music that would be great info too!
As a bass player making the leap to live keyboards I'm struggling a bit given the timeframe involved. Never did I realise just how hard keyboard players worked getting the behind the scenes stuff sorted! Thanks for any suggestions.

If you are new to software synths, a good place to start is the ES P. It is very easy to produce good, useable sounds with this one. You will also learn a lot about the different wave forms & the effects of resonance & cut-off. All these are essential for dealing with the complexities of ES1, ES2, Sculpture & FM. Incidentally, that might be the best order in which to study Logic's synths

Ive used JAI, but do you guys know any APIs out there that handle media files like images and perhaps movies.
I am looking to use something that is perhaps better/easier to use in some ways then JAI

Can anyone recommend some sites with free high quality sound effects good enough for use in a FCP project?

In general, is there a bitrate or some other measure to determine the quality of a sound file without listening to it?
Uncompressed 48 kHz AIFF files can be used in FCP without conversion (audio for digital video is always 48 kHz). On the web you will more than likely find WAV files, they will work too. Anything else will need to be converted.
How do you determine if a sound file is good enough for your project?
Depends what the expectations for your project are. I have used 256 kbps AAC and MP3 files in corporate productions (after converting to 48kHz AIFF). Nobody complained.
Higher bit rates would be even better.
Of course if you are working in broadcast, then you should try to get the best possible sounds available. There are dozens of companies producing royalty free sounds and Foley effects on CD. But they won't be "free" by a long shot.

No - Motion is now sold separately (~$50 + tax on the app store.) Yes, royalty free sound effects are part of the deal.
After you install FCPX, from the FCPX menu, select Download Additional Content to complete the install.

Logic synths any good for producing ambient/meditative/spacescape sounds?

I'm thinking of switching from a PC/Cubase to Mac/Logic Studio. However there are loads and loads of smaller synths/vsts that only run on the PC.
Are the synths in Logic Studio any good at producing ambient/meditation/spacescape/atmospheric types sounds?(or does anybody know of any VSTs that are? Atmosphere is a bit pricey and I already have Absynth).

Hi, I have to say I'm not familiar with parallels or fusion (I'll check them out though thanks). But it sounds interesting. I have held off installing windows on my mac because I want to become familiar with OSX before I get involved(if ever). I have tried running logic 8 and cubase 4 together and that was interesting. Mainly because the atmosphere plugin (which runs on a wrapper basis under logic / intel at the moment) actually worked within cubase 4 on my intel mac(as the old vst which did not use rosseta(I think?), and quite well. The problem I had was I could play atmosphere from within logic, in cubase with my virus ti as a controller but it would not play back after recording, but that was because the ti was setup in both progs as the midi input! I was amazed it actually worked to some degree. It really boils down to what it is you want to achieve I suppose. I have spent most of this year waiting for software updates so I can a) get stuff fully working on the intel mac platform, and of course, being the fool that I am, b) waiting for updates so they could once again work with leopard! When I think back to the days of me, my atari and my akai sampler, I used to get stuff done! Now i just seem to be looking for updates all the time.... No excuses though, they were my decisions! Ah well, it's all good fun I suppose. Not much help i'm afraid....Cheers.

I just Downloaded Final Cut Pro Yesterday, Today I Went To Check It Out And Noticed I didn't have any Final Cut Pro Sound Effects. Everyone says there is two folders with the same name, one grey one blue, but there both grey for me. I go into finder and there is no such folder anywhere.

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...

Good Acoustic guitar sound

Hey all. I am a fairly seasoned Garageband user. When I record songs with distortion, the "Arena Rock" effect works great, the problem is I can not seem to find, or manipulate using all of the possible effects, a really great, solid, and bright acoustic guitar effect. Any suggestions on settings I might use to achieve this effect? Note: I am not trying to emulate an acoustic guitar with my electric, rather have a really full sounding non-distortion electric sound for slower songs and verses, etc.

2 grand LOL Well that's out of the reach of most of the folks here. I still say just get a good clean amp sound, be it from the GB amp sims, or elsewhere, and back off the guitar volume a bit and it'll clean right up. I like to use a 2 pickup guitar, and then blend the bridge and neck pickups to get the right twang.

Encore Timeline Audio Sound Vanishes from Dynamic Link to PPro CS4

Problem: Encore Timeline Audio Sound Vanishes from Dynamic Link to PPro CS4
I have several several PPro CS 4 projects each with a couple sequences.
In Encore CS4, I make dynamic links to the sequences using
Adobe Dynamic Link | Import Premiere Pro Sequence ...
In Encore, I create the Timelines for the Sequences from the dynamic links.
In the Encore Timeline for each sequence, each Timeline initially plays the video and audio correctly.
However, should I make any minor edits in Premiere (via edit original in Encore) like changing a title's text and re-rendering the PPro sequence, the Encore Timeline plays the video fine, but there is no audio (the audio track is there, but no audio sound occurs). The Encore dynamic link is untranscoded.
The following do not make the Encore Timeline audio track audible.
Update markers from source.
Clean database button for PPro and Encore.
Deleting the media Cache and Media Cache Files folders.
Deleting the Encore Cache folder.
The only way which seems to fix the audio is to delete the Encore Timeline and generate a new Timeline from the dynamic link. Of course, this means relinking the end actions for the buttons and timelines which is a pain and defeats the purpose of using dynamic links.
I have been using dynamic links without audio problems for quite awhile without a problem. Now this problem appears in many projects. Thanks in advance.

I cannot directly answer, but here's some info.
From a variety of users comments, and my limited experience with CS4 and significant experience wiht CS5, there were improvements in CS5.
The number one issue when users find no audio in DL situations is not waiting for conforming. Look at the progress bar and wait till done.
You are more likely to see DL audio problems using files in Premeire that are not as easy for Encore (e.g. mp3).

Sorry I can't help but I have potentially a similar problem.
We have an Apple TV 3 and after the most recent software update (potentially coincidental timing), our purchased movies & TV shows will no longer play for our US account. We can play previews but that's it. We also tried renting a new movie but that didn't work either. No error messsage, just select play, it thinks about it, then returns you to the same screen again.

You need to turn off the mute. The side switch is the key. Depending on your settings, it may affect the mute or it may affect the rotation lock. This support article from Apple provides detail.

In case you're wondering, here is the history. Originally, the mechanical switch affected only the rotation lock and the mute was a software switch elsewhere. In IOS-3, it was changed to be the mute switch and the rotation lock became a software switch. This was done to ensure consistency among IOS devices. Unfortunately, a large quantity of users complained loudly, alleging that they turned the rotation lock on and off several times every hour and the convenience of the mechanical switch is essential. In IOS-4, Apple bowed to the whiners and made the switch function selectable and now we're stuck with a mess.
There have been some problems accessing pages on the Apple web site. If the hyperlink gives you a "We're sorry" message, try again.
