Any ideas on how to download content from my Tivo to my MacBook Pro?

I have a commercial running on TV right now, but the ad agency wont give me a copy of it, so I came up with the idea of recording it on my Tivo and trying to transfer it via firewire to my computer so I can burn it to my reel (like a video resume). I'm not increadably computer savvy, but I could really use some help...

Also look at the TivoDecode Manager project - it works very well, and creates videos that you can watch on your iPod (should you have one). The Toast 8 product works as well, but the downloaded files are DRM protected (which annoys me because it restricts where I can watch my recorded video). I wouldn't buy Toast to just get this functionality, as TivoDecode manager is free and IMHO is more useful.

  • Any ideas on how to download photos from a Canon EOS Rebel XT?

I just "upgraded" (?!) to OSX Lion, and now the Canon EOS Utilities app does not work. I contacted Canon and they said that they were working on an update, but didn't know when it might be available --they "answered" my request for information by providing no information.  So, any good ideas on how to download mh photos?

Try Image Capture program in apps directory.  You can import straight to iPhoto.

  • How to transfer songs from an iPad onto a MacBook Pro?

    Hi,
So I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. Before that though, I had a windows laptop and an iPad mini. The iPad mini was synced to the windows laptop, which broke. I then set up an iTunes account for my Mac with the same apple ID as I'd previously used, and made purchases on the iTunes Store on my Mac.
Basically, I am now stuck with my songs which I had on my iPad before purchasing the Mac which I cannot get onto my Mac and I am stuck with purchases on my MacBook which I cannot transfer to my iPad. I have not synced my iPad to the library yet, although I have authorised the MacBook. Some of the songs on my iPad were not purchased on the iTunes Store either, but I do not want to lose them.
Any ideas on how to sync my iPad with my MacBook without losing anything?
    Thanks!

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer. iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. • How do I restore from the icloud to my MacBook Pro?

I am not seeing how to RESTORE from iCloud back to my MacBook Pro... how do I do this?  My Harddrive died a few weeks ago and I want to recover whatever I have in the cloud.

    Howdy Mdelrusso,
It sounds like you are wanting to restore from your iCloud backup to your MacBook Pro.
iCloud backups are for iOS devices, and does not backup Mac computers.
    What iCloud backs up
You have important information on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iCloud automatically backs up your device over Wi-Fi every day while it’s turned on, locked, and connected to a power source. With your device information backed up in iCloud, you can easily set up a new device or restore information on one you already have.

If you were using iCloud for your Mail, Contacts, and/or Calendars you can turn on the iCloud functions to get that content back to your computer with this webpage:

  • I am trying to download ebook from my library on my macbook pro but i can't figure out how...anyone know the answer?

I am trying to download ebook from my public library on my macbook pro but cant get it to work anyone got a solution?

They are usually intended for mobile devices like iPhones, iPad's (and Kindle's) ... you need the Apple iBook app to read them.
Google for Stanza or eReader and it should do what you want.

  • What is the best way to download pictures from 5D Mark II to MacBook Pro

when i transfer my pictures from 5D Mark II camera to MacBook Pro IPhoto, the older photos that are already on computer are put on again even though I on click selected photos

Do you delete the pictures from the SD card after you copy them to the Mac?
I use Aperture (and not iPhoto), and the default there is to import everything that is on the SD card, so you'd have to pick individual pictures instead of the entire card/folder. I would assume the iPhoto would exhibit the same behavior.

  • Hi.. any ideas on how to free space from "Private"...

    Hi,
i am using Nokia e63 for more than 2 years now....
lately i started to notice that my phone's internal memory gets full without saving anything on phone.... even for softwares and such.... i install them on my card only...
i used MGuard from the netqin software to check it and found out that a folder named "Private" is eating up a hell lot of space and i cant delete its contents using this software. also this folder is not visible normally....
i contacted Nokia India... and got rubbish replies like... connect ur phone to PC and delete the folder... remove the Mguard software as its a 3rd party software... etc... even when i gave them details that its a system folder most probably...
can anyone tell me a way to free up that space on my phone?
i have really fed up going to nokia care for formatting my device every month as the warranty is over and i need to pay every time.
I tried to restore factory settings as well.. but there is another problem... if i use the factory reset.. the nokia store app on my cell stops working... maybe coz the app in the firmware update came with older version and to use it.. iupgraded it... not sure... can anyone help me with it plz?
    Thanks and Regards

If you uninstall applications, the application-specific subfolder under /private will be removed (freed up).
If you wish to clean up the /private in one go (without uninstalling applications individually), then reformatting the phone is the way to accomplish that. Then you need to reinstall those apps that you still wish to use.
From a memory card, you can clean up /private by connecting to a PC using USB mass storage mode, and then enabling viewing of hidden folders. Note that if you just delete the /private from the memory card, some applications that also put data in the phone memory and their corresponding /private directory, will leave the stuff in phone memory, as the applications, in effect, were not properly uninstalled, if you just delete their private folders. The apps will also consume space in /system where the actual application executables are stored.
So, uninstall them properly, or reformat and reinstall only the apps you need.
If you reformat, then remember to back up any data you wish to save (contacts, photos, messages, etc.).

  • When dragging an iPhoto event to iDVD, the order in which the pictures appear changes without any apparent rhyme or reason.  Any ideas on how to prevent that from happening?

When importing an iPhoto event into iDVD (iLife '11 versions of both) by dragging it from iPhoto to iDVD, the sequence of the photos is far different in the iDVD project than in the iPhoto event, without any apparent rhyme or reason for the change.  Any way to avoid having to resort all the photos in iDVD?

Create an album from that Event and sort the photos the way you want.  Then drag that album icon from the Media Browser in iDVD into the slideshow area.  They will import in the order that's in the album.

  • Nikon D800 raw files taken with Sandisk extreme plus 32GB SDHC card got corrupted. Able to preview them in Lightroom4.4 Library, but not able to import or transfer the files from card to computer. Any ideas on how to save images from Library Window in Lig

Hi, I have shot few pictures on 31st December night in RAW mode using Nikon D800 and Sandisk extreme plus 32GB SDHC card. It looks like card got some memory errors so not able to transfer the files from Card to computer. However I am able to view the pics thru Lightroom ver 4.4 Library, but when I tried to import them, it gives me an error stating that file can't be read.
Is there a way to save the pics from Library window in lightroom overcoming the card read errors ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi SSPRENGEL,
Thank you for your response. Here is the error message I am receiving, I tried with various destination folders in the computer but it still gives the same error:. Just to let you know, I am able to import pictures into these folders from other memory cards.
