Any limit to number of secondary ip addresses?

Hi,
Is there any limit to the number of secondary ip addresses on an interface of a router?
I just took over an existing live system.
The previous engineer configured secondary ip addresses on a single physical interface.
Currently, there are 1 main ip address and 2 secondary ip addresses.
I am not allowed to change the existing configuration nor disrupt the existing live system, so I cannot use sub-interface.
When I tried to add 1 more secondary ip addresses, to make it 1 main ip and 3 secondary ip address,
but no matter how I tried, I cannot ping to the end device of this NEW secondary ip address subnet
So I removed one of the existing secondary ip address, I discovered I can ping to the end device of the NEW seconday address!!!
But when I put back the one I removed, I can no longer ping to the end device of the NEW secondary address AGAIN!
I suspect that there is a limit to the number of secondary addresses that can be configured on the physical address.
But, I check the link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk365/technologies_q_and_a_item09186a008012d8f7.shtml#q21, it says
Q. What are the maximum number of secondary IP addesses that can be configured on a router interface?
A. There are no limits on configuring secondary IP addresses on a router interface. For more information, refer to Configuring IP Addressing.
I think Cisco could be wrong when saying "There are no limits".
Can someone kindly help me confirm whether there are any limits to the number of secondary ip addresses on an interface of a router?
thank you

Hi,
The main ip and secondary ip addresses are all subnetted into 255.255.255.240.
Main IP 172.16.21.155
Secondary IP#1 = 172.16.21.141
Secondary IP#2 = 172.16.21.93
New Secondary IP#3 = 172.16.21.226
As a test, I simply remove any of the existing secondary ip addresses, and it works!
But when I put back any of the addresses I removed, the new one does not work again.
If it is ture there is no limit, can it be due to other factors like the router hardware?
Pls kindly advice.
Thank you.
Rgds,
Rachel

  • Is there any limit on Number of items that can be created in SBO2005B

Is there any limit on Number of items that can be created in SAP Business One 2005B.
We are working for button manufacturer.
Each button will have type, color, size, thickness.
There are about 100 types, 40 colors, 30 sizes, 10 thickness, 500 models.
It looks to be approximately above 30lacs item codes has to be created.
Is there any performance issues or any other known issues towards the large item lists.

    Hi,
There is no real limit on the number of items you can create (well, the item code is a 20 character key so theoretically the limit is the total number of possible combinations of letters and characters in that key).
Performance can be an issue with a large inventory, as well as database size (particularly if you have a large inventory and a large number of warehouses). Some issues such as the speed of lookups can be avoided by changing system settings but other issues such as the speed of inventory reports are inevitable going to take longer for larger inventories.
Have you done any research on looking for SBO addons for the clothing industry? It might be worth searching the CPSN for such addons (ie ones that can deal with sizes, colours etc) as these may help greatly in keeping the number of stock items down to a minimum.
    Kind Regards,

  • Is there any limit on number of firefox profiles that can be created?

Is there any limit in the number of firefox profiles that can be created?
    My issue is
I am currently doing selenium webdriver automation in linux for a device. There are 50 devices of same kind and framework will pickup a device depending on availability. I need to by pass unsigned ssl pages. I am using firefox 14.
I have implemented following but it is not consistent.
    everytime a device is chosen
adds cer of device to the cert file in firefox profile
but I am getting sec_error_bad_signature very frequently.
So I started recreating cert [delete and create if by opening firefox] file for every run.
Now this is posing a problem if multiple devices are run at the same time. Hence I want to create separate firefox profile

Not that I have ever found. And at one time I had over 60 Profiles, but after I hit 20 Profiles listed in the profiles.ini file the launch time for Firefox became noticeably longer on WinXP. With remote Profiles, not listed in the profiles.ini file and launched strictly from command line there was no impact on launch time.
How or if that relates to Mac OSX is beyond my knowledge, never owned used a Mac.

  • Is there any limit for Number of fields to be shown from grid dictionary in service?

I am getting an error in service designer -> Dictionaries if i select more than 20 fields in grid dictionary. PSC is 10.0

This is documented in the Service Designer guide.
    Show in Grid
Fields set to “Show in Grid” and “Use” in a dictionary will display as columns in the grid on a service form when the dictionary is set to “Display as Grid”. “Show in Grid” and Multivalue are mutually exclusive, as a grid does not have the capability for a multivalue cell. Grids cannot have more than 20 columns by default, which is defined by “dictionary.attributes.maximum.showingrid.count” property in the newscale.properties file.
Note Fields in External dictionaries cannot be used in grids and hence do not have the “Show in Grid” column. Also, fields in Reserved dictionaries (Customer_Information and Initiator_Information) cannot be used in grids because those dictionaries inherently represent only one set of data. See Designing Grid Dictionaries for Fields with Multiple Data Instance for more information on grids.

  • Is there a limit on number of SANs in Lync certificate

    Hi,
We are in the process of deploying Lync 2013 for a very large client. They have multiple companies and multiple sister companies. We are planning to use a single cert for the whole deployment. Net / Net 120 - 130 domains.
My question is, is there any limit on number of domains in SAN of the certifiate. Has anyone used SSL.com for UC certificate.
    Regards,
    Lisa

Have you looked at Joachim Dissing's blog about handling many sip domains? http://exchangepro.dk/2014/01/13/how-to-handle-many-sip-domains/ You might want to also check
out the Lync 2013 Hosting Pack: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=39101
As for Third Party CAs I believe the limits are:
    DigiCert: 25 domain names
    GeoTrust: 25 domain names
    Thawte: 25 domain names
    Symantec: 25 domain names
    GlobalSign: 100 domain names
    GoDaddy: 100 domain names
    Entrust: 100+ domain names
    Comodo: 210 domain names
    SSL.com: 2000 domain names
Keep in mind you should choose a provider that is an approved UCC provider: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929395/en-us

  • Limit on number of instances in RAC

    Hi,
Is there any limit on number of Oracle Instances (other than hardware resources) in RAC environment.
    Thanks
    Manmohan

In theory, no. Certainly not one that you're going to hit unless you're planning on hitting a triple digit number of nodes.
In practice, as you add nodes, the scaling factor decreases, so adding nodes gets less and less bang for the buck as you add additional nodes. Most applications (particularly those not designed with massive scale-out in mind) have various bottlenecks that tend to get more and more apparent as additional nodes are added which require more and more tuning efforts to identify and remove. So your application(s) most likely impose much lower practical caps on the number of nodes than Oracle does.

  • Is there any limit in DDBK

    hi Guys,
Is there any limit on number of values in dropdown by key.
In my app due to large number of values in ddbk, i was unable to select the value from dropdown. Any ideas?
    Regards

I think long before you hit any technical limitations, you hit usability limitations.  I also follow a general guideline that if you get more than 100 or 200 entries in a DDLB it becomes pretty difficult for the user to scroll and find the entry they want.  If I know I'm going to have more than 50 or so entries then I'm probably going to use an inputField and Search Help instead. This is especially true in 7.02 and higher where you have the ease of SuggestValues but the full power fo the Search Help for complex filtering.

  • Limit on number of Managed Servers in a cluster

              Hi All,
Do you know if there is any limit on number of managed servers I can have in a
              cluster.
If there is a limit then how many?
If not, is there a recommended limit from BEA?
We are using Weblogic 6.1 SP2 and we have 16 managed servers running in the cluster.
Under heavy load (through put about 600-800) the console is not responding fast.
Also when we try to monitor the Weblogic Servers from the console under Monitoring->performance
, the screen is not getting refreshed faster(which makes me think the monitoring
info I see on the console is not completely correct).
I have a heap size of 96m for admin and 768m for Managed Servers.
Did anyone see this problem before.
Are there any command line arguments that I can add to make my console respond
              faster?
If not, do we have any patch from BEA that makes console work faster?
              Please suggest.
              Thanks for your attention,

    Hi Vineet,
In Latest version of SAP MDM which is 7.1 we have the liberty to use multiple Main tables so answer to your question is yes we can use 20-30 main tables, now the question is that what type of data model you are prepairing this question is just to understand your entire structure and may be suggest some thing at higher level on which you can think and then take corrective action as per your thoughts.
Generally even if you are integrating Customer/Products in single repository and then designing the main table you wont have to prepare such huge number of main tables you can have these two main tables and then rest of then as sub tables and refer it to each other also you need to know what imapct it will have on system performance becuase they would be referring to each other and also if you are creating some thousands of records in each repository then it is more advisable to use limited number of main tables and use MDM to it's fullest capability by designing such model that we have best utlisation of server performance.
    Hope it helped a bit.
Let me know if you need any further information on same.

  • Is their any limit on the number of column updates in a update statement!

    Hello All,
Is their any limit on the number of columns to set in a single update statement.+
    am using oracle 11g .
    example :-
    UPDATE FMLY SET as_comp1 = v_as_comp1 , as_comp2 = v_as_comp2, as_comp3 = v_as_comp3, as_comp4 = v_as_comp4 , as_comp5 = v_as_comp5 ,      perslt18 = v_perslt18 , persot64  = v_persot64  , fam_size = v_fam_size , numchild = total_children , C_AGE1 = v_c_age1,  C_AGE2 = v_c_age2,  C_AGE3 = v_c_age3,  C_AGE4 = v_c_age4 WHERE FAMID = fmly_famid(i) ;
and also is it good practice to issue single update or multiple updates ?
example for the above update i can have multiple statements like .. does the performance matters if so which is good
    UPDATE FMLY SET as_comp1 = v_as_comp1 , as_comp2 = v_as_comp2, as_comp3 = v_as_comp3, as_comp4 = v_as_comp4 , as_comp5 = v_as_comp5
    WHERE FAMID = fmly_famid(i) ;
    UPDATE FMLY SET perslt18 = v_perslt18 , persot64 = v_persot64 , fam_size = v_fam_size
    WHERE FAMID = fmly_famid(i) ;
    UPDATE FMLY SET numchild = total_children WHERE FAMID = fmly_famid(i) ;
    UPDATE FMLY SET C_AGE1 = v_c_age1, C_AGE2 = v_c_age2, C_AGE3 = v_c_age3, C_AGE4 = v_c_age4 WHERE FAMID = fmly_famid(i) ;

If you can do it in a single SQL statement then you should do that.

  • Is there any way to limit the number of RFC calls from xMII to SAP R/3

    Hi All!
I wanted to know whether the number of simultaneous RFC connections made from xMII to SAP R/3 system can be controlled in any way. Suppose we have a scenario wherein some million Sales Orders or Production Orders are to be updated in SAP R/3 from xMII in a short span of time. For all these updations to take place, multiple RFC calls will be established from xMII to SAP at the same time. This will increase the load on the SAP R/3 system and affect performance of the SAP R/3 system. Is there any check on xMII side to limit the number of RFC calls that can be made to SAP R/3 system?
    Regards
    Anupam

    Anupam,
If you are using 11.5 just keep in mind that the JCO connection points to a single application server (based upon the SAP Server alias connection settings), but the traffic itself to make a BAPI request is effectively the same as any client user traffic.  There will obviously be limitations on performance and throughput, with network and server constraints added to the number and size of the R/3 requests, but there is no magic formula to plug-in because of all of these variables.
If you are using 12.0 (or plan to migrate when it goes GA) then taking advantage of the JRA (java resource adapter) and the associated application server pooling that it offers on the NetWeaver side of things will greatly help you in the throughput capacity.
If you have put some of your xMII application into either test or productive use and are running into issues then I would highly recommend entering the specifics into the customer / partner support portal so that they can help you through any associated problems.

  • Can I limit the number of Contacts by syncing just an Address Book Group?

My Mac Address Book has 3000+ entries (yes, I use it for all kinds of info) which is fine on the Mac but is unusably slow on the iPhone 3G. It's also too many entries to sync with the Parrot Minikit Slim Bluetooth Car Kit, which has a limit of 2000 entries. So I need to cut my iPhone contacts down to a much smaller size.
Is there a way that I can limit the number of Contacts on the iPhone by syncing just a 'Group' from my Mac Address Book? Or can anyone suggest a solution?
    Thanks.

    Thank you very much Joe.
Just goes to show how little I know about the iTunes/iPhone sync system
Now I can just create a smaller 'Group' of my key contacts and keep them in sync with the iPhone - the answer to my prayers.

  • How do I limit the number of addresses?

Prior to iCloud, I could limit the number of addresses that appeared on my phone by only syncing certain groups.  When I switched to iCloud, it put my entire Addressbook of over 1000 addresses on my phone.  If I try to go back to the old method and sync only some groups via the USB cable, it warns me that I could end up with duplicate addresses.  So is there a way to only sync certain groups with iCloud?

You cant with the new version.  It pulls all messages that are on the server.  You can leave feedback requesting it back and hope they hear the many requests http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Great tip from dorothy.  Also, some isp services are more aggressive from others in filtering what they think might be spam.  You might check your spam file from a computer, and see if the verification e mails are sitting there.   When i wen through the process, the verification e mail came to the new e mail address in under a couple of minutes.
