ANY radio app for 1st gen iPod touch?? Even with Wifi!?

Firstly, I know the 1st gen ipod touch does not have a radio receiver..this is not my problem.
I've been looking for an app that I can listen to the radio on..even through wifi...but am not finding any that will work with the 1st gen. For example, I download TuneIn radio which I have on my itunes, blackberry, and tablet...but it is only compatible with newer generations of the ipod touch. I am on version 3.1.3 which I believe is the most up-to-date.
In short, I'm absolutely fine to use wifi to listen to the radio, but simply can't find an app (ideally a free one) that will even let me sync the app from my itunes to the ipod.
Suggestions would be very welcome!

Try my web app. I have over 100 stations of all genres. Just enter the following URL in Safari and tap on the orange music icon on top right. Also, you can add a Home screen app icon for easy future access.

  • Twitter App. for 1st Gen. iPod Touch

I recently was having problems with the Twitter App. on my 1st Gen. iPod Touch and so decided to delete the app and re-download it again, like I had done a week earlier. During the download an error message popped up stating that I need ios 6 or later to download the app. Apple had updated the Twitter App on March 10th and I tried re-downloading March 14th, however a week earlier I was offered the opportunity to download an earlier version of Twitter. I am currently only able to use Twitter via Safari. Does anyone out there have a solution to get the official Twitter App. (And no "Buy a newer iPod stuff"!)
    Cheers
ps IF ANYONE FROM APPLE MANAGES TO SEE THIS CAN YOU PLEASE OFFER THE OPPRTUNITY TO DOWNLOAD LATER VERSIONS OF APPS FOR 1ST GEN IPOD TOUCH

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
Apple did not say why did not allow this option for iOS 3.1.3/1G iPod.
Apple does not monitor these forums. To make a suggestion to Apple:

  • App for 1st gen iPod Touch

Is there an ereader that will work with a 1st gen ipod touch running ios 3.1.3?  If yes, where can I find & how do I download onto the ipod?

    See:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.

  • Getting App off 1st Gen iPod touch to use on iPhone

I have a 1st gen ipod touch with an app that is no longer available in the app store (the original EA SimCity).  I want to save it to my pc so i can put it on my iphone, but when I backup or sync my ipod touch, it doesn't backup the game. Any way I can get the game off the ipod onto my pc or into itunes?   I want to play the game i paid 5 bucks for, but EA cleverly obsoleted the game and re-released it under the same title with one tweak.

Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computerIt is an all or no transfer. Then sync the app to the iPhone.
If you also want the game status restored:
    - How to transfer game saves between iOS devices, without iTunes, and without jailbreaking | TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog
    - Or backup the iPod to iTunes and restore the iPhone from that backup. All the apps have to be in the iTunes library since the backup does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • Installing old apps on 1st gen iPod touch

    Hi all!!
Ok I have a 1st Gen iPod touch and I have 2 apps that were updated from iTunes but when updating it
said that it couldn't update due to old system but the old apps stayed on my iPod but when I did a restore
the apps are not on my iPod and it say that the apps are no longer compatible with my old iPod. I have checked
in my Time Machine and I have the old apps vers that USED to work with my touch but when I did a restore via
Time Machine it doesn't work (that way). Is there a way that I can restore those two apps with Time Machine so that
I can make it work again for my touch??? They are still on my iTunes but under the new vers that will only
work under IOS 4+. Any help would be welcomed!!!
    Serge

How can I delete the new ones?? Even if I do, the iTunes site doesn't have the OLD vers that would still work with
my iPod I do have'em on my TimeMachine but don't know how to restore them to make it work. I wish that iTunes
would keep all generation of apps so if you need to restore you'll be able to get the old app back. I can't even use
ebay app no more. So sad. Any way thanks for the help lllaass!!!

  • Can't sync apps to 1st gen ipod touch

I have a 1st gen ipod touch and can no longer sync apps. My itunes says that the software is not compatible even though i have the latest updates. Is this a lost cause or can i fix it.
Apps I have previously had will no longer sync either
    HELP

I too have a 1st gen and running 3.1.3. I've tried to download various apps and get the banner warning. What really is disappointing is the fact 2nd gen and up is supported. There really wasn't much of a time difference in the release dates so this is another example of apple FORCING it''s bread and butter to keep shelling out cash. I've resorted to just using this thing for what it is. A MP3 player. When it dies, I'll start using my Android phone for music. My 4 teens have all been told, make your ipod last as I'm not buying a replacement. Those who have drunk their kookaid I hope suffer a hardware failure when it matters most. Shame on you apple for treating your customers this way. . I've had enough and I hope you lose more market share as time goes on to a more open and as far as I'm concerned, a better produce, Android. Good night.

  • Getting error 5002 when trying to purchase software update for 1st gen iPod Touch

The iPod Touch currently has iOS 2.2.1. I am trying to purchase the iOS 3.1 update by following the link on this support page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2052
Upon signing in and agreeing to the terms of service I recieve error 5002. I have restored the iPod and the error still occurs. I have tried purchasing the update on multiple Apple accounts and on multiple computers, both Mac and PC with no success.
Any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    Try this artilce.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297
    It says:
This alert is often the result of an issue with verifying your billing.
    Quit iTunes.
    Open iTunes.
    Test the issue.
If it persists, sign in to store.apple.com using your iTunes account
    Click on Change account information
Modify or remove your credit card information.
    Click Continue.
    Test the issue.
It could be related to the errors than some users are seeing today and yesterday about checking billing address.

  • A way to get apps for 2nd gen ipod touch?

Well i posted before on this issue, i got my ipod screen replaced and i restored it, once i got it back i attempted to redownload all my apps from my purchased section of itunes, they all downloaded attempted to transfer to my ipod and only a few like 5 installed. Upon some research majorioty of the apps i bought and had updated to require ios 5 or at least above the max 2g 4.2.1. So now im out games i bought, and im not going to replace a perfectly fine ipod just because a requirement changed. I did not have any backup or previous sync as was using a new install of windows and itunes so nothing was backup. I was never notified on app update and to accept or decline it as they didnt ipdate from my pc files or from my ipod. Its the only way they can be downloaded from itunes and no way to download the old version that is compatible on my touch. I would of went to apple support but the get started button on the support screen is broke and when clicked does nothing, no loading signs just a broken button. This did not work with firefox or google chrome nor does it work with explorer. So beside i've been ripped off on my apps, apparently they dont want me contacting support, def feel like a valued customer

Trying to get the old versions of the apps, i paid for the apps and they previously worked with my ipod without a warning i no longer have a compatible device that can use these apps as the requirements changed, if i had a backup of the older versions i would have used them.
If u paid for something and it worked and then all the sudden u could no longer use it because some small change that you had no choice to do or not to do, and then ur money was spent on useless items ud be happy? I cant use facebook, unblock me, angry birds, or over half my apps and some that have no reason to be updated to iOs 5 as there are super simple games/apps.
Also since the support button does not work I'm trying to get the attention of a moderator or someone who can help me get some where.

  • 1st Gen iPod Touch cannot login to iTunes or App Store

My relative's 1st Gen iPod Touch (fully updated) cannot login to iTunes or App Store. Specifically, when the prompt on the iPod touch for their Apple ID, they can type in their ID and password fine, but tapping on "cancel" or "OK" does nothing. The iPod touch is effectively frozen, the only option being to hit the Home button to get out.
This happens when trying to purchase an item in iTunes, the App Store, and when accessing the Apple ID account through Settings.app on the iPod touch.
An Apple Store genius recommended restoring, but this did not help. Other internet features (safari, mail, facebook, etc.) work fine. They are still able to download apps through iTunes and then sync them over. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    EconBass

    Thanks lllaass,
We just tried to do a fresh restore to factory settings. Unfortunately, the exactly same problem persists.
A little more information, after the username and password are entered, OK can be pressed, but the prompt doesn't go away, and there is a persistent "loading..." sign in the background. This is where the iPod hangs. Here's a picture of what it looks like.
    Thanks,

  • Returning 1st gen ipod touch for 2nd gen?

Does anyone know if I could return my 1st gen ipod touch for the 2nd gen or even give it to them and get money off the 2nd gen? I want to return my first gen because i have noticed that some of the apps that I want to download require a mic. If you no if i can trade mine in please respond. Thank you

... and the second generation Touch doesn't have a mic anyway. Chris will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe, if you want to use a mic-dependant App on a 2nd gen Touch, then you need to buy a headphone/mic combination to plug in instead of standard headphones. I don't know +at all+ about the 3rd gen.
Non-mic Apps can run on a 1st gen Touch if you purchase the software upgrade, but whether that also includes mic-Apps, well, once again, I don't know. (Not much I do know really, is there? )
Perhaps you need to consider how much you need mic dependant Apps before rushing into the major expense of a Touch which may not actually meet your needs. There's always the iPhone of course.

Ah, there you go, in this post - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2322224&tstart=30 - sparky67 says the 3rd gen 32G and 64G Touch comes with a microphone/headphone combination.

  • 1st gen ipod touch apps compatability

We have 1st gen ipod touch's. Kids say that facebook and You Tube dont work on it. Apparently ios software is too old and cant be upgraded?
    Is this true?

Unfortunately yes it is.  The newest version of the Facebook app require iOS 4 or later.  The 1G iPod Touch can only be updated as high as iOS 3.1.3 and there are no downloads of older versions of the app available in the App Store.
However, YouTube should still work as it is a default app that comes preloaded with iOS.

The latest iTunes software wiped out my apps for my 2G iPod Touch by overwriting newer releases of the apps which are not compatible with iOS 4.2.1.  I tried to restore the iPod to an earlier version without success.  Is there any way to download older versions of my apps which are compatible with my older iPod?

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • 1st Gen iPod touch Keeps Having to Be Re-Registered with iTunes

My 1st Gen. iPod touch works very well, with one exception. Every few weeks I'll turn it on and I'll get the picture of the cable and the iTunes icon - which is what you get the first time you use your iPod touch and means it needs to be registered with iTunes. This will happen both if I plug it in to my charger and when I just simply turn it on with the power button. I'll then take the touch to my computer and use my syn cable and plug it in. When the iTunes window comes up, on the left column it shows my touch, but the name I'd given it has gone back to the default name. I'll rename it again, but again within a week or two the same thing happens again. I'm stumped. I'm using an iMac running Leopard 10.5.6 and a white MacBook, also with 10.5.6. All my software on the touch, MacBook and iMac are up to date. I have very few apps on my touch and lots of room left on it to store stuff. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Hi Brenda,
That screen, with the iTunes icon and the USB cable, means the iPod is in recovery mode.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 provides more information about the mode and how-to use it to restore your iPhone or iPod touch.
Are you using any 3rd-party accessories with the iPod touch?
Does the accessory have the Made for iPod logo?
Try restoring the iPod again, setting it up as a new iPod, and testing it without any 3rd-party accessories.
If the issue persists, the iPod may need hardware repair. Just make a reservation to have a Genius take a look at it or call AppleCare.

  • 1st Gen ipod touch no longer keeping time

As the title says my 1st gen ipod touch no longer keeps time when I let it go completely flat. It keeps resetting itself back to the default time and date. Started happening in the last 6 months. I'm running IOS 2.2.1 never bothered updating to IOS 3 because of a known issue with the volume bar disappearing which I don't think had even been fixed. It hasn't been synced with the itunes for 2-3 years. The laptop with the itunes library for this device hasn't worked for a couple of years and haven't sync my ipod to a new computer due to some of the apps I used and some of my song/video purchases no longer being available and I don't want to risk losing those purchases if doing a factory resets not going to make a difference. Battery life for my ipod is still pretty good, get 3 weeks out of it when I leave it in standby mode using it for an alarm clock and about a week listening to music going to and from work only a few hours playing games or videos but that was never to great to begin with. My Ipod touch does have a cracked screen, but it's been cracked for the last 5 years. No other problems. Is else have this issue? Will factory reset make a difference or is it just something to put up with till my ipod touch dies?

It sounds like the battery is really dying and does not have enough voltage to maintain the time when the iPod shuts off due to low battery.
You can try restoring to factory settings/new iPod and see if that helps.
