Any recommendations or references for managing video content (Events, Clips, Thumbnails, Projects, etc.) in iMovie 11?
I just finished importing all my digital videos and understand the .mov files will be large, but want to make the most efficient use of my disk space and iMovie 11 as possible. Any recommendations or references to other resources will be welcomed.

My suggestion would be that in the future, they upload photos only to iphoto, and upload video clips directly to iMovie. In the early days of iOS, going through iPhoto was the only way, so it is a habit that I have had to break.
With iOS 5 and 6, iMovie now recognizes the iPhone and the iPad as cameras.
I agree that the Consolidate Media command should bring over iPHoto movies along with the photos. I suggest that you go to iMovie/Provide Feedback and let the developers know that you would like this feature.

I am getting "blocked plug-in" for most video content that I try to view. I have followed counsel on here; only dead-ends so far. I have followed the command to download an updated version of Adobe Flash many times, but to no avail. Very frustrating. Is there any recommended purge policy for files stored under Archive folder after import from ready folder.We need to delete files that are piling up the Archive,but wondering is there any recommendations.

Yes it is possible to delete the files under Archive folder. Just follow the below steps:
1. Create a text file which contain the below lines:
cd {MDM Installation Path}\Server\......\Archive
del star . star /q
Note: Instead of writing "star" use star symol
E.g. C:\Program Files\SAP MDM 5.5 Server\Distributions\Test-MDM_MSQL\Test-Repo\Inbound\Remote_sys\Inbound_port\Archive
2. Save the file with .bat extension.
3. You can schedule this file using Windows Schedular. For this go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scheduled Tasks and create a new one by double clicking on it. Select the bat file created and accordindly schedule it like daily, weekly etc.
4. Now whenever the task is due it automatically executes the commands written in bat file and deletes all the files from Archives folder :).
Its working fine at my end...

How do I display the time complete time sequence for a video clip in iMovie?
I'm trying to create a movie for someone where they provided me the video clips and what time sequences they want extracted. For example: Video footage from time 5m22s to 9m:18s and 11m17s to 15m31s from the imported video clip. I know you can select video but I cannot figure out how to select from those requested time markers.
Any help would be apreciated.

Check the Advanced ➙ Project Information menu option to make sure the playing time of the entire project, movie plus menu is below the 120 minute limit.

Please recommend digital format for importing video into iMovie.

I have iMovie '09 and am considering a purchase of a new digital camcorder. I want to easily inport video into IMovie for editing and burning DVD's for use on our home player and for importing into Facebook, email, etc. Can you recommend the best digital format for me? Also, if you have any recommended camcorders I would appreciate that too. I'm looking for something portable with High Def and either a hard drive or flash drive memory component (or both-hybrid).

Methods for managing large content databases (SharePoint 2013)

I have a SharePoint 2013 web application with a content database of over 800GB. It's becoming difficult to manage backups (backup time takes forever). It was also very difficult to migrate for 2010 to 2013. I'm getting a warning from SharePoint
indicating that the content database is very large?
What are methods (SQL or SharePoint) for managing this. I was told I could split the content database into smaller DBs....

RBS isn't a factor in database sizing (RBS content must be accounted for when sizing a database). The latter half of your statement is absolutely correct. Microsoft supports you based on those requirements, appropriate disk performance, HA, DR, and so on
(because restoring a 4TB content database would take quite some time).
But keep in mind what supported means here -- if you opened up a PSS case with Microsoft, regardless if you did not meet these requirements, they would 'support' you up until they found that the issue may be stemming from your lack of having these things
in place.

So RBS dosen't shrink DB size, what's the purpose of it. I dont' have RBS implemented but I have an 800GB DB. I have a disaster recovery plan, Mirrored SQL and the disk utilization is within the range.

Any recommendations on productivity for database and project management, Bento was good but no longer sync with ical and address book

I've unfortunately updated to the new Bento on MakBook and iPad and synced my data and in the process it tells me that iCal and Address books will not sync any more. I have several projects I am working on and looking for something that will syn with iCal, address book and Busy Cal to manage my time efficiently and seamlessly. Help?

I think you're in the wrong forum - this is for developers, who write programs for apple products.
As for Bento, their problem is due to Apple's changes in the API. The code that syncs with calendars and contacts is now deprecated, which means at some point in the future, it will no longer work. This problem will affect all developers, so you probably won't find any replacement for Bento.

Lost 3D guides and references for my video in different views

All of the sudden I can't turn on my 3D guides(X,Y,Z) and in top view I can't see any of my video references in order to move them around in the space.
I tried switching view,world and local mode, also grid and guide options.
Any suggestions?

Best Codec for HD video content

Hello,
I have an MPEG2 Streaming Video file that I would like to convert into a QuickTime-compatible format. The video itself is in 1080i format (1920 x 1080 interlaced) and I would like to keep it that way. I have MPEG Streamclip, and I also have the QT MPEG2 Playback Component, so I will be able to export into any format I want to with MPEG Streamclip. However, upon looking at all the formats available, I'm not sure which one will be the best quality.
Unfortunately, there was no option in the list named "No Compression" and that was sort of dissapointing, but I did notice a few other codecs. First there was one called "Apple Video". Then I noticed two others called "Apple DVCPRO 50 - NTSC", and finally "Apple Intermediate Codec". I haven't had the time to actually export the video file in all three of these codecs, and I assume it will take at least a couple of hours each time I export on my iMac G5.
I should mention that I don't care about the resulting size of the file after the conversion is complete because I have over 100GB free on my hard drive, so I would like to create the highest quality video that I can.

Apple Video was the first codec from Apple, about 15 years ago. It's a 15 bit color codec that uses high data rates to get ok quality. Any of the DV ones are 720x480 for NTSC, so you'd lose your resolution. Apple Intermediate Codec is frequently used for HD editing, and will exceed the quality of your M2T file (though obviously it won't improve it). It may be a little demanding for some machines to play.
You might look at Motion Jpeg (A or B). Those are in the 2-4 MB/sec range, similar to DV (about 13 GB/hour), and at the highest quality should be as good as the MPEG-2 stream.
There are a few uncompressed options. The one you looked for is actually called None, but there's also Animation when set to millions of colors and highest quality, and there are video based uncompressed codec, such as Blackmagic (you would have to track down the components for that). Even Apple Component is a good codec, it makes the files half the size of the really uncompressed video codecs, but still looking good.
For what you want, I would try the Apple Intermediate one or the Motion JPEG ones. If you want to have as good quality but save some disk space, try H264 set to around 10 megabits/sec. That will far exceed the quality of the MPEG-2 stream, but wil take half the disk space. It will take a long time to compress.

Airplay Mirroring: What is the maximal resolution for non-video content?

I want to mirror a Safari window from my Mac Mini (latest model) to a monitor using an ATV3. Whenever I do that the resolution on themonitor is rather limited. Is the Airplay Mirroring limited to 720p when the mirrored content is not a video?

It really depends on the display you are trying to connect with. I would contact the author of SwitchRes and let them know that, your Mac age, and model, and they might be able to suggest the proper setting.

Trying to use multiple slideshows for linking video content from vimeo and I continue to get this

error messgage and it is driving me insane! There are 5 slideshows in all each with a lightbox. When I delete any four of the five all works just fine, the problem does not appear to be confined to a specific slideshow. Additionally, everything works perfectly in the Preview mode within Muse, however, when I preview in the browser and/or upload to my actual website is when I get this message:
Somebody please tell me that this is an easy fix! FYI: I originally had the videos all as a single slideshow with 15 thumbnails that each activated a link that popped up the lightbox and played the appropriate video nested in the lightbox from vimeo and I experienced the same issue. I tried to separate them into different slideshows to fix the issue but it still persists.

I am exporting HTML out of Muse and uploading it directly through the FTP tools on GoDaddy. However, as I mentioned, I am getting the error straight away when I try to use the Preview Site in a Browser function in Muse itself.

Has FCP 7 Got Any Preset Easy Setups For AVCHD Video?

I just wondered whether FCP 7 has any AVCHD Easy Setups like FCE 4?
I can't find any but I could have sworn I saw some a year ago in FCP 6.0.1 onwards.
I don't need them, but I told a friend they were there when she was given some AVCHD to edit.

I don't think there have ever been specific AVCHD presets. The media's converted to another format for ingest so the sequence preset would be ProRes or AIC or whatever it was converted to.

Any recommendations of headphones for the iPhone that won't fall off years constantly?

I have been using different around the ears and in-ears headphones and they constantly and ramdomly fall off ears, any recomendations of headphones that are not over the ear that won't fall off easily just listening to music seating or walking?
