Any upgrades possible? CPU/GPU/Processor Satellite L745-s4310

Ive already upgraded the RAM to 8GB. I know how laptops are supposed to be difficult to upgrade and such, but i can manage if something compatible is possible. Anything to increase my power would be much appreciated!

Do you really think that a CPU upgrade will bring a strong performance boost? I doubt this
Therefore you have to exchange the complete notebook architecture. That means a new mainboard with faster chipset, support for more and faster RAM, etc.
Furthermore you will loose the warranty if you exchange the CPU and its own your own risk!!!

  • Satellite L745-S4310 won't boot up - black screen

We have had this L745-S4310 laptop for only 3 months or so and suddenly it won't boot up.  The screen is black and I can hear the fan running, but it won't boot up   Have tried removing battery to reset, but to no avail.  Any ideas?

You could try the other steps outlined in this article.
    Computer will not turn on
If nothing works, and your unit is still on warranty call Customer Support and get a warranty authorization. In this case, if I was you, I would take it to a local Toshiba ASP, and try to NOT send it in for depot service.

  • Any Upgrades Possible for Mid-2007 MBP?

I was wondering if anybody knew the answer to this question.
Before I start, there are a couple of issues I'd like to address.
First, my Macbook Pro's optical drive has become unreliable just like most other users have experienced over the years. To remedy this, I just purchased an external DVD writer. This leaves me with the thought to remove the superdrive and install a second HDD in it's place (See: Data Doubler). Also, the original HDD had failed during my Applecare warranty, and Apple had replaced it with a larger capacity one.
Second, my Time Machine backup external HDD began to make unusual and loud noises today. To me It sounds like it's approaching failure (I certainly hope not), which has really made me think about stepping up to a RAID config.
Finally, I've read in some articles about upgrading 4GB MBP's to 6GB. I was hoping if I could do the same with mine.
So my question invovles the following: Can I upgrade my MBP to have two HDDs in a RAID1 configuration, and add more memory? Can I also set up an External RAID1 or RAID5 configuation? ? If none of these apply, what are my other possible options?
I'm running Lion if that helps.
    Thank you.

Just to be sure - is it a MacBookPro3,1? Need to know that first. But of course you can use the Data Doubler in your machine but to set up RAID, I think that you'd have to have two identical HD's in the bay. I've never used RAID on Mac' so I'll let someone else answer that.
As to RAM, MacTracker reports that you can use up to 6GB of RAM (1 stick of 2 GB, 1 stick of 4 GB). You can't go wrong with calling the good folks at OWC to ask about a RAID config using their Data Doubler, though.
And, as to your external 'dying,' I think that my first priority would be replacing it so that you can keep your back-ups up-to-date. You don't say, but since you can run Lion, I'm assuming you are? If so, then you could use Time Machine, which I swear by - I've been using it since my Snow Leopard days on a 2006 1,1.
Again, I'd call OWC and ask for their recommendations. Sure, they're going to want to sell you something but they are always good for advice, too.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on an MSI GX-730 laptop?

Hi.  I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to upgrade the CPU on an MSI GX-730 Laptop with an X2 Turion CPU currently in it?  And if it's possible, what other CPUs are compatable?  I was hoping to put in a Phenom mobile processor, but I am not sure if one would work in it.  Thanks.

The short answer is no, you cannot upgrade it.
The long answer is you might be able to upgrade it to a slightly better Turion, but I'm not really sure it will provide any benefit.

  • I want to upgrade my cpu and get a gpu?

i want to upgrade my cpu from a core 2 duo e6750 to a core to quad q6600 and i want a new gpu ineed to be able to run 2 monitors and be able to run most games and design programs but i have heard its hard as my psu is only 240 watts so can someone please help me i will buy used ones if i have to but i need to know names of them as i have 5 dc7800 to upgrade ?
    thanks

    Hi,
The DC7800 SFF was not designed to run modern games.  Modern games for most situations would require a graphics card and a supporting power supply of 400-600 watts which is not available for your PC.  Another factor is the dimm speed in your PC which is inherently slow for video processing.

A few questions I think the technical team can confirm and answer for me:
    1.   CPU soldered in or upradeable with aftermarket CPU purchase? This is Intel i7 4700
    2.  Is GPU upgradeable with aftermarket GPU?  This one is 470M
    3.  Possibility of installing an additional SSD (one to boot), and HDD for a performance/storage configuration (not mSSD).
-Use of drive caddy or something a long these lines e.g. where mSata, or DVD drives can both be swapped for a drive caddy.
    Thanks.
    This question was solved.

The CPU is not soldered in place but you are going to find that there is not a lot of improvement possible. That is a 4th gen i7 processor and even if you could get one a tick or 2 faster the price would be astronomical not to mention you would void the warranty. Not worth it.
No GPU upgrade is possible. The video is on a chip soldered to the board.
Yes, the laptop has a second hard drive bay and you can get an SSD (regular full sized) to put in the first bay to use as a boot drive. This will speed it up tremendously such that you will not want to upgrade the CPU any more.
Here is the caddy you need:

  • Asus G50 VT Upgrade Possible?

Hello, I am looking at buying an Asus G50 VT. I am a hardcore gamer so I thought this laptop would be great for me, and it is execpt for a few things. Is it possible to upgrade the CPU to a Intel Core Duo Mobile Processor T9600 or T9600? Even a T9550 or a T9500 would be fine. Also could it handle a Nvidia Geforce 9800M GTX or is that to powerful and take to much cooling? I want the graphics and running speed to be as high as possible on this laptop so is there anything else I should know that would help this run faster and better for as little money as possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    -VanHelsing

hey van and welcome to the forums.
Any hardcore gamer would know better than to buy a laptop for gaming. The only thing you can upgrade in the majority of laptops is the Hard drive and the memory.
The Asus G50 VT has some nice specs, but you will not be able to upgrade the videocard or the processor.
Laptops are just not a good choice for gamers. No upgrade options and you are stuck with what you buy.
Good luck in finding a kick bootie gaming computer.

  • Satellite L745 Drivers

Hi Toshiba Personnels, Good day! I have bought Toshiba Satellite L745 here in the Philippines for the past 2 years. Yesterday, I reformmatted my unit but then I can't find any available drivers in your two websites. Either in Toshiba Global Website or Asia Pacific under Drivers Download Center. I don't even have a back up copy of those drivers. I look the drivers in this website but then part no. is different from my unit. My units part no. starts at PSK001. Kindly help me find its drivers or where can I download all of its drivers. Model: Toshiba Satellite L745-PSKProcessor: Intel Core-i5GPU: nVdiaOS: Win7 Pro 64bit Hoping to hear from you soon guys.

Satellite L745 part number PSK12L-00L001The Windows 7 64 bit drivers are here - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU&selCategory=2&selFamily=2&selSeries=178&selProduct=7663&selShortMod=3440&language=13&selOS=30&selType=all&yearupload=&monthupload=&dayupload=&useDate=null&mode=allMachines&search=&action=search&macId=&country=all&page=1 Possibly your hard drive is failing or has bad sectors and may need replaced. If you are installing from the recovery media you should not need any of these drivers. If you are installing from  a windows 7 64 bit ISO disc then the diver installation order is important or things will not work correctly.Install the chipset then the video driver, then the Intel management engine and Intel rapid storage technology drivers and everything else Intel before the other drivers and then install the Value added package before any other Toshiba applications.Sometimes it takes several tries to get everything to work correctly.

  • Cineform Encoding not utilising CPU/GPU in AME

Hey folks, I'm working on a machinima project at the moment with fairly massive amounts of data. We are acquiring our images at two resolutions, 2560x1440 and 3820x2400, which is generated with Uncompressed RGB .avi files. I am then using the watch folder tool in Media Encoder to convert these to Cineform 444 Filmscan 2 .avi files. There is only a slight amount of disk space saved by this transcoding but the main reason we do this is becaus Premiere seems to be able to play back the Cineform files fin in realtime, where as it can't playback the uncompressed files.
The issue is, that Media Encoder takes about 5x realtime to do this encoding. I have tried with and without Cuda switched on and it doesn't seem to want to utilise my hardware. The CPU usage is about 14% of one core, and the GPU is even less.
Is there a reason Cineform can't max out my CPU/GPU usage in media encoder?
I have tried this on two systems with very different specs, and have the same results.
    System 1: i7 3770K @ 4.6GHz, 32GB RAM, 2x AMD 7970 GPU, 700MB/s RAID5
    System 2: i7 980X @ 4.2GHz, 24GB RAM, 2x GTX 780, 700MB/s RAID5

What are your system specs?  OS version, motherboard, memory, processor, number of hard drives etc...
Unless something jumps out related to your system, I really don't have any idea why it isn't working.  We have two editing systems using the GTX285.  They both are working fine.
If you go to iolo.com, download a free trial of System Mechanic (NOT the professional version which includes anti-virus).  The trial is fully functional for 30 days.  Run a complete system scan, repair problems and then restart.  See if that helps.
You're NOT using the Premiere CS5 trial version... Right?

  • Upgrading the CPU in my HP Pavilion dv6-6b08sa Notebook PC

    Hey there,
I am looking to upgrade my seemingly weak CPU so that my laptops performance may be noticeably improved, for things such as gaming. I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6b08sa Notebook PC, running a Windows 7 64-bit Operating System.
    This is my current CPU:
    Quad-Core AMD A6-3410MX APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 1600 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
If you require any more information about my laptop in order to help me, please ask and I will be happy to provide.
Please note that I do not want to have to upgrade any other components of my laptop, such as the motherboard, in case the CPU requires stronger/more powerful support, as money is a limitation. The cheaper the better, as long as the performance will be improved noticeably. Thank you.

    Hello TooQuix,
I understand you want to upgrade your CPU is the correct? I will try and provide you the information that you need.
This document will provide you a list of processors available for this unit. Now because you have AMD installed originally, and you're using the same motherboard you will have to continue to use AMD.
If you turn to page 85 there is a list of processors, the part numbers are there as well to help your search. Also, if you plan on doing the work on your own the instructions on how to replace the processor is shown there as well.
    I hope this helps.
If I have been helpful or if you'd like to say thank you for me trying to help, click the white star under my name to give me Kudos. I really appreciate it.
Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Equium M40X-189: I want to upgrade the CPU?

    Hi,
i have Equium m40x-189 notebook with Intel Pentium M 730 processor(1.6/2M/533). I want to upgrade my CPU with Intel Pentium M780 processor(2.26/2M/533). Is it possible?

    Hi
Please dont be mad on me but I think that forum is not the right place to pick up this kind of information. CPU exchange is very sensible area and I think you should contact service or some independent hardware upgrade store.
Basically CPU upgrade is not possible because of so-called permanent connection method. I dont want to say it is definitely not possible but CPU upgrade can but for result it can have some negative aspects like higher power consumption and much shorter running time with battery power supply, cooling will not be as before and I am afraid that cooling vent will run constantly.
What to say about performance. I believe you will not see much more difference because CPU on this unit is good enough and better, cheaper and without risk solution, is to upgrade RAM to maximum.
