Anyone had or having issues with getting nVidia NVS 450 resolution to work?

We got a new C20 with a nvidia NVS 450 card--and a ThinkVision monitor. The C20 had Windows 7 preinstalled; the out-of-the-box resolution was 640x480 and we couldn't get it to go higher than that! The ThinkVision and the video card are connected using the DisplayPort cable that came with the unit. After reinstalling the video card driver that came with the unit (on a CD that contains drivers for Windows and Linux), we could never get the resolution to go beyond 640x480. We gave up thinking it must be some quirk with Windows 7. We were going to install Linux on the C20 anyway, so we moved on doing that.
We installed Fedora 14 (64-bit) installed the nvidia video driver that was on the CD and can't get the display resolution greater than 640x480. After a few days of trial-n-error referencing various online forums, we managed to get the resolution up to 800x600, but not the expected 1900-something resolution the ThinkVision and the video card supports.
Has anyone had issues with getting the video card resolution to work? If so, were you able to resolve the problem? We thought we'd toss this here instead of calling up Lenovo support first because usually with technical issues, we get more intelligent replies than over-the-phone. Also, waiting for replies on a forum is less frustrating than being put on hold over the phone.

I was lucky to get a hold of another monitor and when I connected that, I got the full resolution. After much testing, I determined that it was a faulty monitor and it had nothing to do with the video card. I eventually got a replacement monitor for the one that wasn't giving me the full resolution.
Afterwards, I went ahead and got the latest nvidia drivers from their Web site. Everything works really well now.

Try this:
1. In Ultiboard select Tools>>Netlist Editor>>Pins, press the Delete button
2. Select all nets in the Select the Net to Delete dialog and then press the Delete button. This will clear all nets in the layout, don't worry all traces, parts are still on the design.
3. Go to Multisim and select Transfer>>Forward annotate to Ultiboard. This will add all nets that you removed back and it should fix the pin problem

Has anyone had WiFi connectivity issues at home with their iPhone 5 after accepting the recent IOS 8.0.2 update?

Yes, despite being it an iPhone5 (8.0.2) attempting to connect to an Airport Express.
In my case the iPhone "connects" to Airport Express 2nd generation, but no Internet packages are available; Airport Utility shows the Airport Express as not connected to the Internet; but the iMac, MBP, Motorola phone, Samsung Smart TV and HP printer connect without any trouble.
The actual issue is the DHCP :
sometimes the iPhone gets none, and
when an address is assigned it just doesn't work,
even renewing the address won't work all the times,
switching off and on the WiFi won't work all the times neither,
going on Airplane mode, then back won't work all the times.
Solutions attempted and failed:
Reseting and reconfiguring Airport Express;
Reseting iPhone;
Switching off and on the iPhone;
Setup the DHCP renewal for every 5 days;
Meditation and stark visualisation;
Other possible patch not yet attempted : setting fixed IP addresses
All suggestions received resemble Windows' "Plug & Pray"
I gave up after reading several notes around the WWW complaining about it.
Last credible suggestion : wait for 8.0.3 or 8.1, whichever fixes the issue first.

You can try a few more things to rule out the iPhone as the cause of the issue.
If you have a protective case on the iPhone, try testing without it.
Make sure the iPhone is updated to the latest version of iPhone software, currently 2.2.1. You can also try restoring the iPhone to rule out issues with the software on the iPhone. This article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744 will walk you through updating or restoring the iPhone.
If the issue persists, make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

Has anyone had app update issues with iOS 8.1?

I'm running iOS 8.1 on a iPhone 6+. If I try to update an app from the app store without being logged in, it will hang the process and the update will fail.
Previously, with my iPhone 4 and iOS 7.1.2 the app store would ask me to log in when an app update was attempted without being logged in.
The work around until apple fixes this bug is to ensure you are logged in BEFORE attempting an app update. An honest techie at the local apple store admitted this is a bug (one of many) in iOS 8.1. Has anyone else had this issue with iOS 8.1

Nope, I'm able to update an app in iOS 8.1, even if I'm not first logged into the iTunes & App Store in Settings. It prompts me to update the app, then I sign in with my password.
Do you have Touch ID enabled for App Store or not?

Ohhh... why didn't I think of that? Guess it makes sense that people are here to troubleshoot and/or complain.
I can't get service at home. No data service at all. And often no signal/service for a simple phone call. I've lived in the same place for 10 years and have been through a few phones without any signal issues.
It could be that there's a barrier between me and the nearest tower (which is pretty darn near). But the fact that I've been able to get service with all previous devices suggests, to me, that this phone doesn't have a strong enough antenna to work around whatever interference there may be. It looks like lots of people are having the same issue whether its at their homes or elswhere.
Also, a new development as of today: voicemail notification stays on at all times, after I've checked/deleted VM's and even when I have no new messages.

Having issues with getting SQL Server Express to start services and run.

I have been working on a 2012 R2 server getting ready to move databases to new hardware. I had SQL Server Express 2008 R2 running on this server with no issues. I was handed another software package that ran SQL Express 2012 and had to for compatibility
reasons. I have had multiple versions run on Server 2012 before with no issues. This time, not so lucky. When the installer from the updated package put on SQL Express 2012 it completed with errors ( error log posted at the end of post) and
would not allow me to run software. I then tried the db that I had installed on 2008 R2 and it also gave the same error as the 2012 version. IN basic terms the required services attempted to start and shut back down again. I have received
Error 1068 about database handles and error %%945. I know this db has plenty of space and the permissions were added for the Admin account to access both db's. I then uninstalled both versions and tried again, with the same errors listed when
I tried to start the services. I am thinking that a clean install would fix the issue however I am not certain what files/folders/reg entries need to be deleted or modified. I have researched all the errors I can find, however I am very
new with SQL anything so I know I am missing something. I also do not have an "E:" drive on this server (not sure why it is going there). Input would be very welcome as I am not certain where to go from here.

Did you install the SQL Server instance successfully? If not, please help to post the summary and detail logs for analysis. By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
However, if you fail to start SQL Server Express service after successfully installing SQL Server,
you might have to change the paths of the files by running the following scripts from the command prompt. For more details, please review this similar

Anyone else still having issues with Voice Control?

Mine was activated out of nowhere and of course there is no easy option to turn it off. Its in the international setting...what is that even for?? Its preventing me from organizing my apps, can anyone shed some light on this?

If I hear Siri say "sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network" one more time it's going on Craigslist, and I'm going back to Android. Siri seems to be best for the Apple Marketing Dept. In my business we go from Beta to Pilot, to GR. How does Apple give it to the masses and call it Beta. Are they so self confident that they can take the hit?
I often ask it to call xxxx, and it just times out. The other issue is that when it does work, if it works, the lag time from command to execution makes it not functional. If one of the goals is to make it safer for me while I travel, Apple has made it worse since I ultimately have to pick up the phone and dial manually. I did get a surprise answer the other day when I asked Siri a math question from my 11yr old's math homework.
1 out of 50 times it works. So far I have to give Apple a 10+ for Marketing, and a 1 for execution.
Don't even get me started on ICloud set up and support help.

I don't understand why Siri won't work as seamless for me as instructed or as reported by other users. I simply want to send text messages using Siri and it never seems to work. I usually say something like, "Tell_____, I am on my way. 98% of the time it thinks I am saying, call so & so. It rarely ever works the 1st time. The only way I can get it to work is if I say Send Message, than once Siri goes thru what she has to say, I have to answer to who, than confirm I want to send. This whole process takes like 45 seconds instead of taking 15. Everyone makes this seem so easy to use but I can't get it to work as advertised. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any tips?

Having issues with getting the slide to advance properly after audio is done playing

Before I describe the problem I will describe what I'm trying to do.
I have a slide that plays a video. When the video is finished the user clicks a Continue button, and a short audio clip plays, and then the slide advances to the next screen. The problem comes when I'm trying to integrate closed captions. Since CC is only allowed at the slide lever I created an advanced action that is intended to display the audio text and play the audio. The caption with the audio text displays fine, but one of two things happens with the audio:
The slide advances before the audio is done playing.
I add a pause action to the advanced action and the slide does not advance at all.
Does anyone have any advice on how to control the slide so it will advance once the audio is done? Thanks in advance for your help.

The Pause action WILL pause the slide if invoked. And there is no way to set the duration of the Pause in the Advanced Action.
I would suggest you add a button to the slide that the user clicks to go to the next slide. Add the short audio clip that you want the learner to hear to the On Success caption of that button and set the button properties to Pause for Success/Failure captions. You can add the CC text for the short audio clip into the success caption so that it appears as the audio is playing. As soon as the audio clip finishes playing the success caption will disappear and the timeline will continue to the next slide.
No Advanced Actions required for this solution.

Since downloading iOS 4 I'm having issues with getting iTunes applications!

Okies, so here's my prob. I went to iTunes (I have the latest version) and I tried to download the free app, "Baby Center: My Pregnancy". It downloaded to iTunes but wouldn't let me sync it to my iPod saying, "This app couldn't be sync'd because the iPod isn't using the latest iPhone OS." So, I went and updated to the iPhone OS 4. I tried to download it again. Again, it downloaded to iTunes but this time when I sync'd it to my iPod it showed in iTunes that I had the app on the last page. When I disconnected my iPod, it wasn't there. I even searched for it and nothing came up. I tried rebooting the computer, I tried rebooting my iPod, I tried restarting iTunes. I tried re-downloading and re-syncing the app to my iPod again and again and again! Each time it showed in iTunes that I had the app, but I look on my iPod and... NO APP! I'm a little frustrated with this. Can anybody tell me what to do? I really want this app on my iPod. PLEASE HELP!!!

Found my problem!!! I had Restrictions set to limit Apps to those appropriate for ages 9+ (my kids). I reluctantly changed it to 12+ and Netflix magically appeared! Yay!
You may want to check your Restrictions in Settings.

Having issues with responsive slideshow showing max resolution on mobile platform. HELP!

I'm not sure exactly what I need to show you folks, I've been watching tutorials, things work OK'ish. In the mode for Tablet and Desktop things seem to fade in and out just fine as well as scale with the size of my browser. But as soon as I shrink the browser small enough to give me the single column set up that I have in the mobile version then POOF the pictures go to max size and you can only see a small corner of the picture with nothing before it.

I inserted this just after the header div inside the fluid grid layout...when I put it previously in the header it wouldn't cycle through the shots and would only display 3 in a row shots on mobile and scaled and now its stuck to max size there and works fine everywhere else.
I'm new, I'm trying to design my own website for a startup that doesn't have any money budgeted for that. Just trying to make things pretty simple and having some trouble, I did learn to code many many years ago in C++ and learned some HTML basics in school then as well so this shouldn't be completely out of the realm of impossibility.
Please let me know what part of my code you might need to see if any more and quite honestly I'm not sure how you'd want me to enter it here. If it were me I'd either screenshot it or copy paste the entire html and css files into this post, but I think that may be a bit too aggressive and people may not skim it.

Thanks for your reply. However I logged into the FTP client on godaddy and its showing an images folder and showing the three images listed in there.
