Anyone know where my thumbdrive shows up on the Mac Pro screen/utilities when I plug it into my USB slot?

What format is the thumb drive in do you know?
Usually it will show up on the desktop, as well as in the left hand column of finder close to "Machintosh HD".

So yes from what I gathered on the phone support call, the update would download and fail during the install. The support person did a remote desktop session where they dug through tmp folders checking various log files, etc. They downloaded and tried installing some other type of patch. No go. After an hour or so they threw up their hands. I did a search for that to see if they followed up with a case # for the call, and I couldn't find it. Either they didn't send me one or I accidentally deleted it (but it's not in my trash/archive so doubt that).
Prior to the support call, I did a chat session, which was dropped because a link loaded into the session, ending it. That was after I had been troubleshooting with them for about an hour. Frustrating. So I opted to call in instead of chat, see above. The case # on that chat is #0185619250. I didn't follow up on it since I went the call route. Here's another case I found on my acct, dealing w/ this matter.

I don't know how that could have happened. Go through the folders for the rolls and separate the 2005 rolls from the 2006 rolls, then import the 2006 rolls.

HT1386 Why doesn't my iphone show up when I plug it into my computer? I do not have a listing for "devices" and thus cannot backup my iphone contacts etc.

I am trying to backup my iphone contacts through itunes... Oddly, my iphone 4 is not visible under 'Devices' when I plug it into the USB port on the computer. It doesn't seem that I will be able to connect to or access or change anything unless my phone shows up as a Device in Itunes on the left side. Suggestions? I have tried two different ports and neither permits my iphone to show up as a device in itunes.

I will go back to step one on your support link that suggests checking the USB cord. or connectors I use it to charge the phone all the time but the phone does not register as a device in my computer either. I tried all four ports. Thanks. You have me off on a new path... hopefully to find a solution.

Bought Ipad from Bestbuy w/ replacement insurance. Anyone know where I can get additional support when Bestbuy is changing term of coverage/misrepresent their coverage?

I bought an Ipad from Bestbuy and purchased the extra coverage in case of breakage. At the point of sale, the rep suggested I buy the coverage in case the Ipad breaks with the replacement of a brand new one if available in store or be replaced via delivery. Today I went to bestbuy because of a broken screen and the rep at bestbuy is telling me that they only replace with refurbish ones even if there is one available at the store. It is a current term that they have changed. I told them that it is not what I purchased it for and want them to honor the coverage they represented when I bought it. Does anyone know any other support entities that can help and their contact info within the Los Angeles area? other than the better business beureau? or is there another level higher than the people on their customer service line?

hey man, i feel your pain... here's my story and i'm pretty sure this will work for you... on the 19th of september i went to upgrade ios 6 and paused it about 1/10 through... when i plugged my phone up at night the screen was at the normal lock screen.. when i woke up at 10:30 am i went to check my phone and the screen appeared as an apple logo with a progression bar about 6/10 full.. it didn't seem to be progressing any more, but i guess that was only because it was so slow trying to download over wifi because it had all night to finish downloading.. anyways i needed to check my texts and the time so i held down the lock button and the phone turned off during the download.. when i tried to turn it on the apple logo would appear like normal trying to boot up.. then it would fade away and cut off.. then seconds later try to turn on again, by itself, repeatedly for hours on september 20. i tried restarting it (holding lock and home button down 10-15 seconds) but the problem with that is that the phone was already trying to turn on itself so it never would restart correctly... (continued turning on and off by itself).. i went to verizon and they said my phone is screwed.. go to apple if you wanna pay.. i called apple support and a lady helped me out here's the solution that worked after hours of thinking my phone is totally screwed.. when the phone is dark and cut off.. press and hold the home button before you plugin your sync cable to your usb port.. (have itunes up and ready) continue holding the home button and plugin the sync cable.. still holding the button, wait for a message from itunes appear that says it recognizes your device in recovery mode.. press ok.. the screen on your iphone should be a snyc cable and and arrow pointing to an itunes symbol... from there it is pretty self explanatory.. you will need to restore and update your phone from there which should be an option after you press ok... it takes awhile.. your phone will then go through one, or maybe a few progression bars (it may vary, not sure).. while your itunes will be restoring software & firmware.. when everything is done on itunes and your phone.. your phone should boot right up!!! reply if you have any more questions.. i'm so glad i resolved my issue today.. good luck!

HDR Pro 2 does not show up when Photoshop is launched using my mac pro desktop

I recently installed HDR Pro 2 on my mac pro so I can use it relation to my Adobe Cloud Photography Suite, however, when I open Photoshop, HDR Pro 2 is not recognized. Has anyone had the same problems? and if so what did you do to resolve the problem?

"HDR PRO 2"? Isn't that 3rd party software, NIK or something?
NIK has been struggling with a multitude of bugs lately. Check with them to ask for an update.

If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand, such as your platform (Mac or Win), exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop and of Bridge, machine specs, what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far, what error message(s) you receive, if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them, etc., someone may be able to help you.

Does anyone know where you can get a rubber pad for the bottom of the Macbook Pro 13"?

My Macbook Pro 13" tends to get a bit warm while sitting on my lap at times. I really don't want to put a case on it, but I wondered if anyone sells a rubber pad that might cover the bottom of the laptop? I would think this would help with the heat and also provide better gripping when you set it down on a surface. Nothing fancy, just a rubber pad that would stick on.

The metal body is a key part of the heat dissipation.
And the MBP is a "notebook", not a "laptop". Air flows around the body to get rid of heat.
I have used my MBP on my lap, but always balanced on both legs and left as much metal as possible exposed. Now I understand even that was risky.
If you want to use a hard-surface that the MBP sits on and the surface sits on your leg, then OK. But the heat you feel is the MBP clearing itself.

Anyone know where i can pick up a t-10 torx screw for the mac mini?

I had trouble with the 4 base screw holders breaking apart on the mini and letting the screws just turn so i superglued the plastic together and they are in there but the torx screw broke off at the threads so i need a new one..any help would do..

I have not seen those small sizes at places like Home Depot...might try a hobby shop and see if they can help. A long shot would be to beg and plead with one of the Genius Bar folks at an Apple Store...talking really nice just might work...many of them are really nice people.

My Apple TV stalled during an update and now just shows an image of it being plugged into a USB. It won't complete the update and does nothing when I plug it into my Mac via USB.

2 Apple TVs. The first won't reboot, it stalled during an update and now shows a picture of a UBS plug. Ive tried to plug into my computer, nothing happens. At a standtill.
The second Apple TV works but only if I send something via Airplay. The remote no longer has any affect. The light on the front of the Apple TV blinks when I push a buttom on the remote but nothing happens.

Ok, with itunes open on the pc, plug one end of the usb cord into the computer, but not connected to the ipad.
now, press the power button on the ipad until it turns off.
Then, press and hold the home button on the ipad at the same you plug the usb cord into the ipad. DON'T LET GO OF THE HOME BUTTON.
Keep holding the home button until you see the recovery mode message pop on the itunes window.
When that happens, you should now be able to restore.

My iPhone has just turned off and I knew it had about 50% charge. Now it won't charge, turn on or do anything when I plug it into my mac. Can anyone help?

@JamesStacey - Paulcb is right. You should try to to a reset as he suggested. I had this problem with my new iPhone 4S a couple weeks ago. It just shut down without warning and I couldn't get it to start again. I tried repeatedly to do a reset and I kept releasing the sleep and home buttons after about 15 seconds and nothing was happening.
I finally decided to see what would happen if I held the buttons down longer. I held them for over a minute, possibly over 90 seconds, I wasn't counting but I know it was definitely over a minute, and finally the apple logo appeared, my phone reset and it was fine.
I'm not sure if this is a glitch with the OS, the hardware, a combination of the two or possibley even a combination of the OS, hardware and one or more of the apps I have on my phone.
But just to let you know this only happened once and there was no loss of data, files, apps, photos, music etc.
