Anyone seen this problem with Excel 2003?

We're developing a Microsoft Excel-based app. The help system uses HTML Help (.chm) format, and works just fine with Excel 2007 and 2010. However, since a lot of potential users out there are still using older versions, we've been asked to adapt the app for Excel 2002 and 2003.
The help system works, more or less, with Excel 2002, but when we try it with Excel 2003 the tri-pane is missing. The default topic appears but the left-hand pane containing the navigation system (TOC, Index and Search) is missing. Consequently, users can't move away from the default topic. Has anyone come across this problem before, and do you know how to fix it?

I cannot help you with this one other than to say I haven't seen any other such reports. That may suggest it is worth checking for some small difference you haven't identified yet.
Of course it could also mean there aren't many people with that workflow.

Hey Everyone,
I picked the new white 30 gb ipod video up yesterday. I opened it set it up and transfered all my vids and music. Now my problem is the clickwheel. It scrolls about 200 (literally songs at a time and is not acurate with the amount of contacct i have with it. I tried resetting, and now restoring. What shouold I do? Has anyone seen this problem yet?

Sounds like a strange HW problem. Before you return it, I'd try a Restore, resync, and check it. If it STILL does thast, you need to check with Apple Support.

Has anyone had this problem with IPad 3 after upgrade to IOS 7,
trying to to connect VPN , but I get this messag, "could not validate the server certificate".
I am trying to connect to Oracle VPN.

Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I am still getting the could not validate server certificate error. I have tried importing the entire certificate chain as well as importing each individual cert in the chain. My certificate works perfectly with the cisco vpn on my pc.
This is my first experience owning an apple product, and I am very disappointed with the customer support that I have received. I tried calling the help line and no one would even attempt to answer my question. I was then told that the Mac "geniuses" wouldn't know either and that I may be able to find an answer on the message boards. So I am reaching out to the community...Has anyone been able to figure out how to resolve this issue or even the specific cause? Any help is appreciated.

Excel Analyzer template problems with Excel 2003

There are numerous common problems when using Excel Analyzer templates with the Analyzer Add-In for Excel 2003:
The following problems have been found in the latest version of the stand-alone BI Publisher version 10.1.3.3.2:
1) If your report name is more than 24 characters long, the Excel Analyzer template will never open in Excel. The error is completely uninformative, too. The reason is that the Analyzer template tries to make a tab in the Excel file called <report_name>.xdo. Since tab names can only be about 26 characters long, Excel chokes when opening the file. It would have been nice if BI Publisher printed an error when encountering this situation.
2) If your report produces too many rows, Excel will time out when opening the Analyzer template. Again, the error in this case is completely uninformative. In fact it appears no different from the error in (1). Excel 2003 is supposed to have a row limit of 65,000, but we can't get the Excel Analyzer template to open with more than about 15,000 rows. This is a completely unacceptable limitation if you're going to be making pivot tables in Excel. This is a processing time-out problem, which cannot be remedied by changing any settings in BI Publisher.
3) If you use the data in your Excel Analyzer template to make a wide report, like maybe one column for each day in the year, because maybe you want to plot the data over a full year, then forget about opening this report successfully. Since the number of days in a year is more than 256, Excel will choke when trying to open the template. No informative error here either.
4) If you're going to make a Pivot Chart in Excel, in the Analyzer template, then your reports cannot produce more than 256 rows. I'm not talking columns, I'm talking ROWS people! No more than 256 rows. This is because Pivot Charts require creating a sideways pivot table, which means your rows end up as columns. This is the only way to plot data with time on the x-axis, which is where it should almost always be.

Anyone had this problem with their N80?

Has anyone had this happen to them and anyone know how to fix it?
I have an N80. Every few hours my phone resets and reverts back to the default theme. It also seems to switch off the memory card as I have to switch the phone off and back on to be able to access it again. I sent my first N80 back because of this and now my new one is doing the same.
Any help much appreciated.

My N80 is having the same problem too. I don't think it is caused by the card as it happens when the card isn't inserted. It especially happens when I am trying to send email or browse the web (ie. network activity). I suspect that the firmware is rubbish. Mine is an Orange N80 with firmware revision 3.0614. I am getting really fed up with it and wish that I hadn't bought this phone in spite of its great features. Does anyone know for sure that the firmware isn't buggy? Orange Customer Support are telling all their customers that it is and that Nokia will upgrade the phones with a fixed version. Orange are 'dissing Nokia products. Anyone from Nokia care to comment?

Anyone have this problem with 7.6 update?

I updated to Itunes 7.6 and plug in my phone and... Nothing happens. The phone is charging off the usb port but that's it. No sync. I tried trashing Itunes and the associated library extensions and packages and reinstalling and get the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
ps The phone works fine, just won't talk to the computer.

Hi- EXACT same problem I am having since 5pm NY time... just posted the exact same question- no answer yet..i talked to the apple people 4 times and after uninstalling and reinstalling 4 times an apple rep told me it sounds like a problem with the updating of the itunes... he said to wait until tomorrow...uninstall everything again (itunes, quicktime,apple mobile, apple software update) and reinstall...i hope it works...if you do find a solution please let me know...

Has anyone else has seen this problem with their iPod touch 5th Generation with iOS 7.0.4. My screen started making flashing white lines across the screen, then went dim, then pixeled with purples

The ipod will show flashing white lines across the screen, going down, it then does somthing where the screen will dim down but its not like when the backlight goes on and its about to lock. It dims the background of your ipod and the icons and letters kind of all look defined. Then the ipod gets all pixelized and it has big boxes on pixels and its all differnt colors like purples and greens, red, etc. then it turns right off and restarts itself less than 5 seconds later. These things happen really fast but when it does it's really weird. It first happened 3 times in a row, Its still continuing to happen but i can manually turn off my ipod by holding the lock button down and not even 30 seconds later it's like its possessed and it turns on by itself. I talked to somone on appel and they told me to back it up and restore it. I restored it and as soon as the process ended and tuirned on like a brand new ipod and like clockwork the glitch happened instantly. It did it a couple of times throughout the night and i kept having to watch it so i can keep turning it off manually because it continues to turn on by itself. I talked to 3 different people on Apple Support and they couldnt even find an answer for me. It's so weird.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Has anyone seen this BUG with Time Warp and Dissolve?

I'm doing some real basic slow-mo clips, transitioning with various dissolve wipes. I've come across a problem that is extreemly frustrating! I'm wondering if anyone has insight on a fix or if Adobe does service packs or fixes that I might be able to install.
If you put two clips adjacent to each other on a timeline, apply time warp, set percentage to say 30% of realtime, then apply a dissolve between the clips, clip B, the outclip will play in reverse for a period equal to about 1/3 of the duration of the clip.
This is true scrubbing through the timeline and even rendering.
VERY ANNOYING!
I'm going to call support tomorrow, but that's not going to help me get my project finished any sooner since this is a critical element in this composition. I've tried the time remapping method, but the frame-blend is no match for the pixel motion of time warp.

. It is important that users who discover bugs with reproducible steps file them - otherwise they don't stand a chance of ever getting fixed. Steven Gotz's advice was sound in this regard.
As to the discussion of workarounds - since this is a User-to-User forum, the best that we as a community can do is help each other out with workarounds, since none of us here have the power to actually fix anything.
The important thing to glean from SG's post is the definite need to file a bug report.

Hi all
For some reason, every time I update my templates, it breaks
all the javascript on the child pages. I have to go in to each
child page individually and re-do the javascript again and then it
works fine. It's all different types - SwapImage,
OpenBrowserWindows, etc. Kind of ruins the ease of a template -
anyone ever see this before? I don't know a whole lot about JS, so
I can't tell what is breaking in the updates. Just thought I'd
throw it out here and see if anyone else had a similar problem.

Just create a new page (or use the existing photo page) on your external site and use html to add an iframe sized to the page and link it to the mobilme gallery page. Works for me just fine when showing my gallery from a yahoo site.

Anyone seen this problem before????

A friend of mine has a Powerbook G4 with the following problem. When you boot the computer, after the initial chime, all you get is the spinning gear and the Apple logo. When I tried forcing the computer to boot from the Leopard Install disk, I get as far as the Select Language window but the cursor remains a spinning ball and I can't select anything to move to the next window where I planned to use the Disk Utility to see if I can trouble shoot the problem. I tried to do a Safe Boot by holding down the Shift Key when booting but all I get, even after several minutes, is the spinning gear.... anybody have any suggestions??? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The first thing to check is that your friend is using a retail install Leopard disk. The gray disk from an Intel Mac won't work at all.
This disk must look like this:

Unsync issues during ingest (anyone seen this problem before ?)

Sometimes I can get sync issues when ingesting straight to my raid. Randomly I will get qtmovies where the picture freezes, but the sound continues, so I have to redigitize the material. It looks a bit like this very short example

I don't see anything special in my systemlogs (xsan), and everything else works ok with my raid. This error is happening on any of our 12 clients..
Any suggestions ? (My raid settings are all correct)

You may want to explain a bit further on your environment:
Assuming you are using xsan (since you mentioned xsan software but this is Xserve RAID forum):
- check event logs on Xserve RAID to see if there are any errors events. Any bad disks. any degraded disks, rebuild going on.
- do you have dedicated meta data controllers.
- do you have metadata stored within their own LUN.
- do you have metadata stored managed by their own controller and not shared with data LUN.
(ok sounds a bit hardware intensive)
- were u doing play back while doing in gest from any of the workstations.
- Were you using DNS for your name services, both forward and reverse records exists.
Use xsan tuner (available on support website) to test your xsan performance.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

WEIRD! Has Anyone had this problem with the keyboard ribbon cable? HLP! PLS

Replacing a DVD drive and using ifixit to reassemble the unit; the PB 1.67 Ghz wont turn on--nothing.
After 3 days of troubleshooting I finally found that pressing the keyboard ribbon cable to the logic board very firmly while pressing the power button starts it.
Nothing else works. When I release the pressure the PB works fine after start however the power switch doesnt work again (for an emergency manual shutdown or to boot the PB again). Tape doesnt work.
This connection is only a small friction fit connector. Ive cleaned the area, compressed air cleaned and close inspection shows no visible problems I can see.
Has anybody experienced this and how do I fix it? I cant open the PB every time I want to boot it!

Hi, Steve. I don't have an answer for your faulty connection, but as for workarounds, there is seldom a need to shut a Powerbook down and then boot it up using the power button. I recommend that you stop shutting down as a matter of habit, and instead just put the Powerbook to sleep (using the command in the Apple menu) when you aren't going to use it for a while.
I could easily count on my fingers and toes the total number of times my Powerbook has been shut down since I bought it four years and ten months ago. It runs 24/7/365 except when I'm working on something inside it. For all other purposes, a software Sleep or Restart command suffices, and I don't need the power button for those. You should be able to reduce your need for that button just as drastically.

when i turn on the mobile network on my 9930 it begins to power cycle nonstop ive tried everything i mean everything possible with no luck. Any help?

Let's get this issue fixed! I know I would be lost without access to the mobile network. Did this start after an application was downloaded? Please power down the device and remove and reinsert the battery.
