Anyway to allow comments from readers on iWeb blogs when hosted on iPage?, Anyway to allow comments from readers on iWeb blogs when hosted on iPage?

Since Mobile Me is going away, I moved my iWeb pages to iPage.  I started a blog but it won't allow readers to leave comments.  Help says this feature is only available when hosted on MobileMe but MobileMe is going away!  Does anyone know a way to enable reader comments to an iWeb created blog hosted on iPage?
Thanks!

The easiest way to correct your color problem is to upload the Disqus code as an HTML doc and display it in an iframe on your page. This way you can keep the black iWeb page and have the comments with a white background.
Open  a text editor and paste your code. Export as HTML giving it a name like - comments.html
Upload this to the root folder on your server in a folder named - Disqus
The URL for the iframe code will be...
http://www.domain-name.com/Disqus/comments.html
This is the code for the HTML Snippet and you can change the height and width to suit your layout...
<iframe src="http://www.domain-name.com/Disqus/comments.html" frameborder="0" style="height:1000px;width:930px;padding-top:50px" scrolling="yes" allowTransparency="false" ></iframe>
Note that you need to add an identifier to each file if you want to use several - one for each blog entry.
var disqus_identifier = '0001';
var disqus_url = 'URL to the blog page';
The identifiers can simply be numbers like 0001, 0002, etc
The alternative is to style your own page if you want your comments section to have a black background. Disqus has a customizing option or you can create your own styles and add them to the head of the comments.html doc or reference a separate stylesheet. Disqus has info and guidelines about styling here...

When I use IWeb to post my blog, many readers claim they are unable to post a comment.  When they attempt, they receive an "error" message.  I have check and re-checked that "allow comments" is checked in the appropriate window.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can publish your blog on any server but will lose the commenting capability.  Since you'll have to find a new host soon anyway since MMe will go away on June 30, you might consider converting your blog to WordPress as that's the only  other blog type that an MMe blog can be converted to and keep it's comments, etc.  Rage Software has create an application that will convert an iWeb blog to WordPress: Convert Your iWeb Blog to a WordPress Blog | iWeb to WordPress. That way you can keep your blog's continuity.

Too bad. MM is gone. I moved from MM to GoDaddy.  NowWordpress no long offers iWeb to wp.  Is there another way to allow comments on my iWeb blogs?

There's this: Migrate iWeb blog to WordPress - Mac OS X Hints. And MobileMe is not gone yet so you can try using the free scrpt provided to migrate youir blog to WordPress.
If you don't have a lot of comments to lose you can continue with an iWeb blog and add one of the commenting sites to you blog.  Some are:
Disqus (an example is here: Disqus Comment in a Scrolling iFrame)

    Hi Demo,
Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to

  • Any ideas for a commenting system to allow feedback in iWeb sites?

With haloscan becoming echo and therefore costing to run now, what alternatives (outside mobileme) is there for an easy setup commenting system that can be run within an iWeb site. I am a school teacher with numbers of pupils who have portfolios/webs in iwb. They are working well but I want to give them and others a chance to post feedback on certain pages. We could make an iframe to a freebie commenting system but I am trying to more fully integrate.

  • My challenge: recovering original iWeb files from 2010-2011 timeframe, which included a blog consisting of original postings from me and comments posted to the web from family and friends. I have the web archive files - but did not move iWeb files then.

Background:  I started this blog while living overseas and going to sea with the Navy.  Missed the opportunity to move the iWeb files with content attached from the mobile.me server to another server.  Now, I have the original web archive files - good - but not the comments added to them by family and friends - bad.
My ultimate objective is to create a hard-cover bound book of these files with the comments on the blog ... they document a rather significant experience in my family's life ... to do this, I need to recover the original files with postings.
Any thoughts or insight would be sincerely appreciated!
    Thanks, cfwnavy

You have replied to a post that is a month old now and the OP has never replied, so you are probably wasting your time here.
If you read the OP's post and my reply, you will see that he will not be able to recover his blog and neither will you.
If your Mac was stolen and you did not back up your iWeb domain.sites files, then you CANNOT get your blog back.
If you published your site to a host/server, then you can download it back onto your Mac and you will have to re-build your blog/website from scratch and re-publish, but all your replies and responses to posts will be lost and you can never get these back.
My advice would be to re-create your blog in another format such as WordPress.com which is free and don't use iWeb again.
There are plenty of alternatives out there.

  • PDF from Framemaker 9 shows that comment/review is not allowed

Do I need Acrobat Standard or Pro to change the security settings? This is not mentioned in any document or online! This function is heavily promoted for the new framemaker.
For the "save as PDF"-option I tried:
I already changed the options to "create pdf for review" which I hope is the german option "PDF nur zur Überpürfung erstellen" and enabled the tagged-PDF option.
For the Adobe PDF printer I disabled the security options. Fo a second trial I set the security to allow comments, edit forms and sign the pdf.
    Thanks in advance
    Martin Kellner

This link to info about generating PDFs with comments from FM9 indicates that when saving an FM file as a PDF, the Generate for Review option is needed in order to create a tagged PDF . As far as I can see it doesn't mention anything about having to turn on the commenting in the PDF after it's generated.

In another recent forum thread there's some discussion of what version of Acrobat Reader is needed in order to insert comments; can you verify what version your users are using with your PDFs?

  • IWeb not allowing blog comments!

Now all of a sudden nobody can add comments to my blog pages? And as usual you cant reach anybody at Apple to support this software, nor the .me/.mac, without dropping hundreds of dollars in support fees.
FWIW, I have been a Mac User since 1987 and I have to say that Im really disappointed in all of the bugs in just about every release Apple puts out, not to mention, the distance that Apple is putting between itself and the customer.
Congratulations Apple you always wanted to be as big as Microsoft, but make that a big looser. After 20 years you have succeeded in driving away your customer base by hiding behind a wall, and ignoring your loyal ardent fans and advocates.
    Fix these bugs!

    Hi There,
Hope I'm in the right "corner" of the forum now . Since change from iWeb to MobileMe I also have some problems with comments in my blog: First of all I don't receive any notifications when comments were written into my blog. I don't see them, only if I look at my blog-webpage as a "ordinary visitor" I can see them. Yesterday evening, I was still able to comment on them through the web. Now I have created some new entries in my blog yesterday and saw now that I had a comment (still not appearing in iWeb but on the website). When I was trying to read it I was asked to enter my .mac-ID and password (a small lock appearing next to the entry and the comment-box). Is there anyone experiencing the same problems? Have I done anything wrong?
Thx for your comments on this

  • Blog Comments have gone from site AND iWeb

I've read the other post and followed the suggestions by Alancito, but to no avail.
Initially, I was able to see comments only in iWeb - they wouldn't show up when I navigated online with my browser (Safari and Navigator). Now, however, I don't see comments in either iWeb or in a browser.
I've published to a folder also - but again, no comments.
I made a duplicate of the DOMAIN folder prior to comments disappearing from iWeb. Now, of course, both the DOMAIN and the DOMAIN Copy file show no comments.
You've saved me before guys! Can you do it again?

OH NOOOO!!! The exact same thing just happened to me!
I am so, so sad right now...I published my iWeb site to MobileMe, and all my comments (both online and inside the iWeb application) have vanished.
Is there any way to fix this?
If anyone knows, feel free to email me: [email protected]
    I'm totally desperate for help.
    THANK YOU!!!

  • Allow comments on imovie.iweb page

i need to understand how to add user comments to a iweb/movie rather than the blog page - so that the movie page allows comments?

i need to understand how to add user comments to a

This is just a comment on the side; it does not pretend to be an answer to you question. However, there is a dotmac.info site which does indeed allow for comments of your imovie.

  • Can time capsule allow me to stream music from my itunes library directly to my home stereo system?  Is there anyway to access my itunes library from my tv?

can time capsule allow me to stream music from my itunes library directly to my home stereo system?  Is there anyway to access my itunes library from my tv?

Sorry, not sure if I understand what you are asking.
Are you thinking of moving your iTunes / Media Folder from your Mac to the Time Capsule?
If you do this...when...not if...the Time Capsule drive has a problem....you lose everything because you have no backup for the iTunes library.
A much safer plan would be to add an external hard drive to your computer and move the iTunes library there.
Then, if you are using Time Machine for backups, it will back up both your Mac and the hard drive.  Now you have "originals" on one drive and backups on another.
In order to stream music from the iTunes library, iTunes must always be open on your computer.
Is there anyway to access my itunes library from my tv?
Yes, if your TV has an HDMI input and you have an Apple TV.

  • Where exactly are the comments from my iWeb Site stored?

Anybody know where on my iDisk the user entered comments for my iWeb blog entries are stored? I looked around and couldn't find anything obvious.

Hmm interesting, although I'm not sure I follow the goal of your suggestion. What does appending this to the end of my blog link get me?

  • How to Allow Comments from Reader?

I can view a PDF using Acrobat 7 Professional, and the security settings say that commenting is allowed.
I then view the same PDF in Reader 9, and it says that commenting is NOT allowed.
How can I set up the PDF so that comments can be added using Reader?

  • Replacement phone has iOS 7.2 backup from old phone is in iOS 7.1 it will not allow me to restore replacement phone to backup, anyway around this?

Replacement phone has iOS 7.2 installed backup was created in ios 7.1 anyway to restore replacement phone with my backup files? I tried updating the software on the broken phone but it says it is up to date.

You must mean that the replacement iPhone has iOS 7.0.2 since there is no 7.2 version, 7.1 is the current version.  If your backup was created with iOS 7.1 it will not restore to an iOS 7.0.2 iPhone.  If the iPhone will not update to 7.1 for you, take it back to the Apple store and have the genius bar staff update it so you can restore your backup.
