AOL Mail Client can't download pictures from Apple Mail?

Hey gang-
My sister and her family use the current Windows AOL email client to send and receive email. I sent them some JPEGs using Apple Mail, and I selected "Send Windows Friendly Attachments" before composing the message. Anyhow, they can see the pictures in the AOL mail client, but they don't seem to be able to download the JPEGs to disk. They say they've never had this problem before, so I wonder if it's an issue with how Apple Mail sends the JPEGs?
I have no idea how the Windows AOL mail client works, but does anyone know of any general guidance I can give them?
Thanks!
Dave

Dave,
Travis has captured all the facets of the problem. I will only add that the surest way to send to AOL is to use Plain Text. This has always been the advice with Mail (i.e., not use RTF to AOL recipients) but additional factors have been added by Mail 2.0. Whenever RTF is used, along with attachments, and there is furthermore a mixture of fonts utilized, Mail converts to use HTML, and changes the status of files attached, even for users other than AOL. The most common sources of mixed font usage are from a Signature, or from text included in replying, or forwarding.
When sending to AOL users, continue to use Windows Friendly, but also use Plain Text. If you do not wish to set Plain Text as the default in Compose, then on these messages, click on Format in the Menu Bar, and choose Make Plain Text on an individual message.
Let us know if problems persist, despite this method.
Ernie

  • I can't download pictures from my camera ( Canon EOS 1100D).

    Hi
I can't download pictures from my camera ( CANON EOS 1100D) on my Macbook Pro.
I can download pictures on other computers so it's not a cable problem.  I can connect memory sticks to the Mac, so it is not a USB port problem.
I did install the software provided by Canon (after I tried to download pictures and noticed it does not work). Why doesn't my macbook pro recognise my camera ? Thanks. Leacoulet

The prompt won't appear if the photos were originally synced from a computer, if they were taken with the iPhone then there are instructions on this page for how to disable/enable the prompt (the page is specifally about disabling the prompt, but it's the same process to enable it).

That would depend upon the card reader, who makes it, and what their suppointing software does.  I happen to have an older ZoomIT SD card reader with a 30 pin dock connector.  The hardware maker provides an app for iOS that allows me to use the adapter with my iPhone 4 and I can open pictures from the SD card and view them.  I believe it even allows me to save teh image to my cameral roll if I want.  Since it does have the 30 pin dock connector, I need to use the Apple adapter to plug it into the Lightning port on my iPhone 5, but is still works just fine there too.
I also have the Apple Camera Connection Kit (30 pin version) but it is much more restrictive.  It only works with the iPad, and it only copies certain files form teh SD card to the iPad. (The files must be in the "/DCIM" folder on the SD card, the file name must be in the older DOS 8.3 file name format, and I believe it only woirks with JPG, and MOV files.  As you can see, the Apple device is built to let me view pictures from my point-n-shoot cmera on the iPad screen, whereas the ZoomIT allows copying of content to/from the SD card and an iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch.
Now for the bad news, I don' tthink the ZoomIT reader is made any longer, and when you can find them, the sellers are usually charging close to $125 for them.

  • I can,t download pictures from my iPad to Facebook why?

I can,t download pictures from my iPad to Facebook why?

There are a number of Facebook apps that you can use e.g. 'official' Facebook app.
If it's an iPad 2 or 3 then with iOS 6 (released on wednesday), from here :
And there’s no need to leave your app to do it. Share a photo to Facebook right from Camera or Photos.

  • I can't download pictures from my Nikon Coolpix 990 to IPhoto6.

I can't download pictures from my Nikon Coolpix 990 to IPhoto6. The computer recognizes it on the UBS port but IPhoto won't. I have tried both direct input and using a media card without success. I think it did work a year ago but I'm not sure. That might have been an earlier version of IPhoto then. Any suggestions?

First try reapplying the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC) or the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel), whichever is appropriate. Follow that by a repair of disk permissions and another reboot.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Can I download pictures from my Kodak didgital camera directly to my HP

Can I download pictures from my Kodak didgital camera directly to my HP or do I have to use the Kodak software?

Hi ounce again Kathleensarah: Yes I belive you can as long as you have the right cable from camera to computer just follow windows pop ups from your task bar and the white box. The computer may make a search and download drivers and software for it. If you have the software that came with the camera that is better. I belive it will still open open the file. Plus I just check my computer HP Touchmart 600-1050 they have a slot where you put in memory card sd thing. That is located right side below volume switch can insert card what every they call flat thing that goes inside of cameras. Lap tops and Hp Printers have these same ports as well.

  • How can I download pictures from my hard disk to my iPad

How can I download pictures from hard disk to ipad2

Connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that you can select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - not including photos in a subsequent sync is how you delete them from the iPad.
