AP: 3.4.1, On import. Can't select expanded previews

Finally upgraded to AP 3.4.1.OSX 10.7.5. New in this version only, when importing (uploading) RAW Canon files (via FW 800 reader), I can no longer select (or deselect) a file if the preview image has been enlarged, i.e. double clicked on. In every version prior to this I have been able to click import and the images load in contact sheet format. I uncheck all, then double click an image to see the large version of the JPEG and step (rt arrow key) thru the images (in enlarged state) one at a time clicking on those I wish to import (on the small blue check box at bottom left which displays the camera's name for the file. When done, the import dialog with all EXIF and ITPC data intact indicates "Import X files to project Y" and the Import Checked button is available. Since 3.4.1, anything selected while in expanded view doesn' show up in the image to import count and the Import Checked button is greyed out.
Since the 3.4.1 upgrade, any selection/deselection while the image is viewed in expanded mode is ignored by the import controls.
Net result: importing now takes 3-4x as long as I have to double click to expand each image, then double click again to contract, select (by clicking the select box, arrow over one, repeat process. Example, I have ~900 images from Friday's homecoming. Deadline is tommorrow evening. It will easily add ~2 hours to make the import.
Even though I couldn't image a reason why, I rebuilt the AP database, no change. The 10.7.5 upgrade was done before the AP upgrade and this behavior was not evident. Same camera, same card, same reader. I can't determine a single change in my equipment or behavior. An examination of the import options in preferences doesn't mention this nor can I find any mention in the PDF manual.
Stumped and rather irritated and would really appreciate knowing (1) has anyone else seen this behavior and if so, did you find a fix. I will work around by just dumping them all into a project and winnowing from inside AP, but that's a waste of time and disk space.

(Also as an added feature, it seems that every plugin is demanding that I re-enter the serial #. I noticed this same behavior with the 3.3 upgrade.)

I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow. Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?

Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

Can't select multiple video clips to import into iMovie

Hi, i can't select multiple video clips to import into iMovie, it only lets me import one video at a time. Apple please fix in next update or if anyone has a solution please post.

Obviously you can not select the video to import until after iMovie populates the list of videos that are available to be imported

Can't select files to import

I have some DVDs from an event that we held. They were recorded directly to the disk, but are regular disks, not mini ones. I got the video off with Handbreak and now have an .m4v file that I'm trying to import into iMovie to edit. I didn't change any of the default settings on Handbreak (other than the destination and name of the file) and I've tried getting the file again, restarting the computer, etc. I can never select the file I need, it's always gray. I'm going through Import Movies, there is enough space for the file, it's nothing fancy (like HD). Any ideas? (And this is all fairly new to me, so don't assume I know much! It may be a stupid error and/or it would be really easy to talk over my head.)

iMovie '08 will only allow you to to import files containing compression formats that can be edited, but MPEG-4 is one of those formats, so I don't know what the original poster's problem turned out to be. Generally, (I found this info from another thread) to import formats like WMV, etc., you have to first convert it to any of the acceptable compression formats: DV, AIC, M-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, MPEG-4, or H.264. For audio this may include DV, AIFF, AAC, Unsigned Integer, Uncompressed, etc. Files with adaptive PCM (ADPCM) -- a common AVI audio compression format for digital cameras -- will not import.
The simple method of converting is using Quicktime Pro. Opening the file and choosing to export it. When dealing with wmv files, it's necessary to have the upgraded version of Flip4Mac. A cheaper, but less featured app is called Visual Hub.

How can I select 2 out of 10 CD songs to import? It looks like the only way is to manually uncheck each blue box from the list. Is there a way to deselect all, then choose the few I do want to import?

Select all the tracks (Command-A), then right-click (or Control-click) on one of those check boxes. In the contextual menu that comes up, select "Uncheck Selection" to deselect all tracks.

i can't select all the photos that i have taken to import. Most of them i can select but some it won't let me tick the box to import?

First-off, this seems to be a general problem with 10.4 (across all the operating systems of which I am aware). Unfortunately, I cannot provide a permanent solution but, if you need a quick fix, this will (hopefully) work for you.
For some inexplicable reason, iTunes no longer recognises standard Windows paths. For example:
Y:\Music\Buddy Holly\Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
The end result is that it will import a playlist with no content.
It will, however, recognise the equivalent Apple paths which look like this:
file://localhost/Y:/Buddy Holly/Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
It is possible to convert your existing playlists using a few basic replace commands in something like Notepad. In my case, I made some code changes in my music manager and now generate two sets of playslists (one standard and one to accommodate iTunes).
Forgive me foir stating the obvious but please remember to make sure that the disk / path containing your music is accessible when doing the import otherwise you will probably get a blank result. Note that you can do a bulk import by selecting all the (revised) playlists and dragging them onto the iTunes sidebar.
I am sorry that this is not a "clean" solution but it will work if you are in a bind. The only alternative of which I am aware is to wait for Apple to fix the problem.

Is "very very very slow" 30 seconds or 30 minutes or 30 hours or 30 years?
It is possible that you have a hardware problem which is causing the slow operation (in my case, it was a bad card reader, but it could also be a bad USB port or USB cable or bad camera card). In fact, in my opinion, these issues are 99.9% of the time hardware issues.

Update to the latest software versions
From the Apple () menu, choose Software Update and make sure that you have the most recent updates for your versions of Soundtrack Pro 3, QuickTime, Compressor, Pro Application Support, and other important system files. Note: Be sure the application is in the Applications folder and is named Soundtrack Pro before running Software Update.

Try a different Multitrack Project or Audio File Project
Sometimes project files can become damaged, causing unexpected behavior in Soundtrack Pro. To create a fresh project, choose File, then New and select Multitrack Project or Audio File. Test to see if the issue is resolved in the new project.
Delete the User Preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Soundtrack Pro to its original settings. This will not impact your project files. To reset your Soundtrack Pro user preference settings to their original state:
Quit Soundtrack Pro if it is open.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu bar.

Open Soundtrack Pro to verify that the issue has been resolved.

Can I Select from table skipping extents linked with lost datafiles?

I need your help to recover my database.
I'm using oracle 9.2.0.8 at Fedora 3 with no-archive mode.
and I don't have any backup.
Last night, I experenced hard disk failure.
I tried OS-level recovery, but I lost some datafiles of tablespace.
anyway, I wanted to recover my database without data of lost datafiles.
so, I issued "alter database datafile offline drop" and
start oracle instance.
But, datafiles were not removed from dba_data_files view and
extents linked with lost datafiles were not removed from dba_extents view!
Selecting query of some table containing extents linked with lost data files,
I got "ORA-00376: file xxx cannot be read at this time" message.
So, my question is that..
HOW CAN I SELECT FROM THAT TABLE WITHOUT SCANNING EXTENTS LINKED WITH LOST DATA FILES?

Hi,
Without being in archivelog and without backup, one can't do any sort of recovery. That's why backups and archivelog are so so important.
The offline data file command never does actually drop the datafile. It merely indicates to the control file that now the said tablespace will also be dropped. This won't update any view that the files are not supposed to be used or shown to you anymore.
This is what documentation says about the recovery of the database in the NoARch mode,

You do need a backup in order to get those tables being read. Oracle doesn't have any feature which can offline/skip the missing extents for you and let you read the data without them.

I am looking at month view in Calendar on my iPad. I touch a date. Intuitively, I expect that date to open up in Day or Week view, but it doesn't! On my iphone, it works just fine. Am I missing something?

I would try this:
In Lr import one photo into a different folder that you can see in the list.
Then in your OS (mac Finder / Win Explorer) move the photo to the folder that you cannot see.
In Lr the photo will now appear with a question mark on its frame. Click directly on the question mark and select <Locate photo>. Navigate to the folder, open it, and click on the photo.
Maybe this will help Lr to recognize the folder.
If this doesn't help try renaming the folder in your OS.

There is often confusion, as to what the Project File, PREL, is and what's in it, plus how to use it.
The PREL, or Project File, is an XML code database, with instructions, and links to one's media files. It has no media files inside it, just links to where they were located on the system, when the user Imported the media files into the Project. When one does a Save, Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy, it is ONLY the PREL file that is written. That article goes into detail on the various types of Save, and their uses.
If one wishes to "save" a Project as media, they need to Export/Share/Publish that Project's Timeline to a media file. This file, will then display in Organizer, or any other cataloging utility program (with a few exceptions, but those are related to the specs. chosen in the Export/Share/Publish operation).

I have a doubt about Interactive reports/ ALV interactive reports. Is there any option to select multiple selections in interactive reports. If I am displaying in a screen CustNo, Name, Country.
I want to see order details of that customer in another screen using AT Line-Selection. Can I select multiple customer nos at a time and also can I see those order details whom I selected over in first list.

Check out this sample. It uses two ALV grids. On the first one you can do multiple selection, hit the continue buttons and it will throw another ALV with those material/plant records. Implement the following program. Create screen 100 and 200. One each screen create a custom container called ALV_CONTAINER(screen 100) and ALV_CONTAINER2(screen 200). Create the gui status for both. Don't forget to create a "CONTINUE" button on the gui-status 100.

Nah. Raw support is version specific and that extends to Bridge as well. Older versions simply won't handle new cameras. If this is important to you, you will have to use Bridge CC.
