  • Why no answer from Sony to LED and Hotspot still Broken?

Why in the world after I got suckered in to updating to ICS again (587), is LED notification for missed SMS and hotspot still not working?
Why has no one with some official stature with Sony Mobile not posted a discussion to explain what the heck is going on?
Is the group in Sweden that bad?
Maybe that is why the office is being closed and the mobile group moved to Japan.  The mobile group obviously needs better management.

    Mambodoodle,
Have you called Sony Tech Support to open a case?
I have done so with each release of ICS, as I had to send my phone in for re-install of Ginberbread.
I wonder if the call-in database would have more impact vs. this online forum.
I COMPLETELY agree with you that they should at least acknowledge the situation here on the forum by someone fairly high up on the product team.
    Good luck,

  • Facetime and HotSpot features not available.

Got an iphone 4 as a gift from UAE. I cant find the facetime and hotspot features in settings. I am currently in Pakistan. I have read that UAE govt does not allow facetime so its not available there but there is no such restrictions in Pakistan. What do I need to do to bring those features in my iphone 4 now?

In chile is available because I have seen others Iphone4 from Entel or Movistar working properly with facetime. I have a Claro Iphone4, I have requested the solution directly to claro, they say the phone number is not reconized by apple so they keep sending an email to some support external area (from apple I guess) which suppouse to activate my phone number to work with facetime.. so far and after waiting more than a month still activation is unsuccesfull.
On the Hotspot issue, is not even listed in settings eventhough I have version 4.3.2.

  • Employee and "hotspot" ssids

    Greetings,
Trying to set up both an Employee and Hotspot ssid connection. The Hotspot is working fine. The Employee is not broadcasting SSID (by design) and will not connect from a manually configured preferred network entry. Also - Dot11Radio0 interface is working - Dot11Radio1 is in reset mode. Can someone please take a look at the attached config and to see where I'm going wrong?

Well, one fix that jumps out at me is:
    int d0
no encryption mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip
encryption vlan 2 mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip
IIRC, I believe a radio may go into reset mode if it has no clients on it. Try connecting on A (once you have G working properly) and see if that works.

  • 64bit JVM Crash: interaction between Concurrent GC and HotSpot Compiler?

During a test of a standalone server application, the application experienced a JVM crash for with no readily identifiable cause. We would like to at least come up with a theory to explain the crash; right now we have no idea what happened. We haven't found anything similar on the web so I am posting this to see if anybody has come across a similar problem.
The OS was 64bit Windows Server 2003 family on an AMD machine with 8 hyperthreaded CPUs (4 dual-core, I believe). The JVM was a 1.5.0 Server VM. An excerpt of the crash log is below.
The closest report we can find is Bug ID 5048441 which identified intermittent crashes with the Concurrent MarkSweep GC enabled; somebody claimed to have seen the problem under 1.5 but didn't have much more to add.
We haven't started heavily testing under 64bit just yet but we will be moving soon, so we would really appreciate hearing about similar experiences.

  • Changed wifi and hotspot in iOS 8. No longer supports router.

    HI all.
    The necessary background...
I don't have fixed Internet at home.
I utilise a wireless router that when I directly connect my iPhone 4 (7.1.2) or my iPad (prior to update to iOS 8) would initiate the usb hotspot function on either device where I then can utilise network based stuff (Apple tv, lappy, printer ect). I can go as far as to connect my iPhone to the router have the hotspot active then also simultaneously access the wifi signal from the router to the phone.. Helps get around the download limits imposed when updating stuff.
I find now that my iPad (iOS 8) can't establish a usb hotspot connection with the router. It can do the usual creatation directly plugging into the LAPPY or creating a wifi hotspot just not directly to the router.. I've done the usual turned on and off, reset network and cycled via the power home button stuff.. I've not gone down the full restore but if my hand forces it I'll try that.
    Finally the question.
Did or has the Apple writers restructure the hotspot and wireless coding where it makes such things defunct? Any known work around?
    cheers,
    Dave

I would just like to add that I've now upgraded to a 5S and a new router. The 5S connects fine (7.1.2) aka tethers via USB where the iPad (8.0.2) still no connectivity!!
I'm sure this is on deaf ear's, still folks a spending good coin on stuff and the line in the sand keeps moving .

  • Image Maps and Hotspots in a liquid layout?

I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a way to make an image map with hotspots conform to a liquid layout. Since each hotspots has its own coordinates, when the image moves (grows smaller or larger) those hospots no longer coincide with those specified coordinates on the map. I currently have a map with rollovers and clickable links (an image map with hotspots) at a fixed 987 pixels and I'd like to redo it so it's 1920 pixels and liquid. I've got the rest of my site working with a liquid layout, but can't figure out the image map thing and an exhaustive search online has proved unfruitful as have all my attempts. Here's a link to my current liquid site and the page where the image map is. Thanks.
    http://christopherdeldridge.com/PhotoWorldMap.php

All things are possible but this one is right on the edge!  You *could* do this by adjusting EACH coordinate dynamically but it would be a major beast given the number of hotspots you are using, and the number of coordinate pairs in each.
I wouldn't want to tackle this project.
Perhaps Flash is the answer here?

  • Strategy Pattern and HotSpot optimization

    I wonder whether using the Strategy Pattern affects HotSpot optimizations such as inlining. Assume for a non trivial operation that has to be done often there exist two alternatives which are frequently exchanged (i.e. the flag in the example changes its value frequently). Originally code looked like this:if ( caseSensitive ) {
       caseSensitiveComparison( strA, strB );
    else {
       caseInsensitiveComparison( strA, strB );
}Assume both methods are private then that code can be inlined quite easily by the HotSpot engine.
If we now delegate to a StringComparator (defined as interface and implemented by two singletons) we getcomparator.compareStrings( strA, strB );Is the VM still able to inline this? Or is it likely that overall performance degrades since the virtual call is not optimized away?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    robert
For further info on the Strategy Pattern see here
    http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?StrategyPattern

That's true, but OTOH he describes a realistic (?)
scenario in the first paragraph that explains inlining
    could occur.That's good news.
However, what I found more valuable is his statement,
that a virtual call is not necessarily worse than a
local conditional (branch prediction hassles).Just to be clear, I'm not advocating the use of if instead of Strategy in some hope that it will result in inlining. Personally, I feel that the whole idea that OO slows things down is overblown. While it may add complications and more instructions at a microscopic level, OO often simplfies and reduces actions at a macroscopic level.
I'm more interested in knowning what are the inlining requirements and triggers. Along the lines of the understanding why it's sometimes bad practice to use + for String concatenation, I'd like to know if there are simple things that can be done to improve performance with out changing the overall design.
If anyone has any information on this it would be much appreciated.

  • Wifi and hotspot issue!!!!! Help

The wifi iphone 5 issue.  Is it effecting the iphone 5 hotspot ??

I purchased the IPhone 5 specificly for the mobile hot spot. I got rid of my MiFi and I have been working on this for 3 months. Phone was exchanged for new one and set up as new phone 3 times! What really makes me angry is that they put me through hours on the phone, going to the Apple store, restoring as a new phone and replacing all of my contacts, re-setting up my voice mail...hours of my time when they KNEW none of this would work!
They know these devices are defective but refuse to stand behind their products. They want me to take some small gift from the online store. I am not looking for something for free, I am looking for a solution. I asked if they would defray the cost of me obtaining a new MyFi and they refused to even consider it.
Apple has a huge pull on me because I am deep into the ecosystem of Apple. I did this because I trusted Apple. That trust is dead. I am giving them one more chance to see if engineering can come up with a solution. If not, I am off the AT&T to purchase a Samsung Galaxy and release myself from all things Apple.
If you are having the same problem, don't waste your time. Apple believes they no longer need to stand behind their products. It's time that consumers help Apple regain some humility!

  • WebLogic 4.5.1.5, JDK 1.2.2, And HotSpot VM

    Hi.
I am running WebLogic 4.5.1.5 under Solaris 2.6. I am using JDK 1.2.2
with HotSpot. When we shutdown our server, it essentially crashes with
    the following error:
    # HotSpot Virtual Machine Error, Unexpected Signal 11
    # Error happened during: mark sweep
    # Error ID: 4F533F534F4C415249530E4350500BC2 01
After looking into the problem, we found that it is easily recreatable,
    simply
by (1) starting the server, (2) hitting any web page (which causes
    FileServlet
to be loaded), and (3) shutting down the server.
I have attached a tail of my log file as evidence.
Anybody else seen this problem? Is it a Weblogic/HotSpot compatibility
    problem?
    Thanks.

  • Continuity Calling and Hotspot

I'm trying to work out whether or not continuity calling, from either my mac, or iPad, is possible when using my iPhone as hotspot. I don't have home broadband, my only internet is though tethering the phone while it sits in the window to get signal, so my iPad and MacBook both join the phone's hotspot, so this is my wi-fi.
However, calling from either my Macbook or iPad doesn't work, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success with this yet? Obviously there will be quite a few folk out there wondering if this will work, either in hotels with no wifi, traveling etc where your phone's hotspot is always available, but not necessarily a proper wifi network to join.
I've seen a few posts regarding this, but no definitive/useful answers as yet! Any help gratefully received...
All my devices support all the new features, and are all up to date with the newest available OS.

They're going to treat every case individually.  While perhaps similar in nature, they will have to run through the same diagnostics with every new case the same way.  I have an applecare contract, and I started with online chat support for OSX issues.  Got the first level person pretty quickly who guided me through a bunch of diagnostic steps.  At the end of that session, when things were still not working, she set me up for a support callback from Level 2.  Call came in at the scheduled time less than an hour later, I got hooked up with a rep named Tyler, who had the ability to look at the devices registered under my apple id.  He said it was strange that he didn't see my macbook pro listed, though he saw my other products.  He said it would have to go to engineering.  Sent me instructions to prepare a dump file and email it to apple support, which I completed right away.  The next day, around mid-morning, my devices were getting the apple id popup message.  Tried imessage on the MBP and it worked.  Emailed Tyler that imessage appeared to be working, he replied, and it was done.  I was surprised that I didn't receive any sort of follow up that my issue had been worked and resolved, but I was very pleased with the experience with apple support.  For anyone who doesn't have an active applecare contract, I believe apple will handle Apple ID related issues for free, so that would be the path to follow.  I'm wondering if I started through support as an Apple ID issue instead of as an OSX issue, maybe it would have resolved more quickly.
