AP Extremes lose internet connection

I have three Extremes in different locations (different cities, not within one household) and all exhibit the same problem of losing the internet regularly. One unit is the latest dual-band model and this appears to lose the internet every 24 hours and requires power cycling in order to reconnect to the cable modem.
The other two are older single-band models and are each connected directly to ADSL modems by ethernet. These two lose the internet frequently, every few hours and, again, power cycling solves the problem. I initially suspected intermittent loss of internet from the cable/ADSL service providers but I have eliminated this possibility by doing tests by connecting a computer directly to the modem and proving that there are no outages. This problem has been plaguing me now for several months and I am at my wits' end.
The common denominator could be my settings because I have set up all three routers. But it is a very basic and straightforward setting and I can see no obvious cause.
This must be happening to other people and I would be glad of any guidance or suggestions of things to try.

All three of my APXs have dynamic IP, so I'm assuming the problem is nothing to do with the three different ISPs but more to do with the settings of the Extremes. If it were just a problem with one APX and one ISP I would investigate further, but it doesn't seem worthwhile in the circumstances.
(incidentally, my APX here in Greece has been up and running for three days now. In the previous seven days it required power cycling at least twice a day. I haven't changed any settings. Fingers are crossed.)

Unplugging and restarting the AEBS restores the internet but it just drops off again in less than 10 minutes. My question is, what might be causing this and what can I do about it? One peculiar thing to me is that I am using the WEP security option since the Xbox doesn't seem to support WAP2. When connecting the Xbox it reports the network as WEP but the HP printer and Dell Laptop but suggested the network was indeed WAP even though I'm clearing using WEP security. Maybe it's nothing but wanted to add for completeness.
    The Dell is running Vista Enterprise edition.

    I've noticed a similar issue. Any time my HP/Vista laptop is connected to my AEBS it loses the network connection at inconsistant time intervals(~10-15 min).

    I recently checked my internet connection on my Asus G53SW and found that it was extremely slow on both the LAN and WLAN connections. I checked with a different laptop (old HP Pavilion) and I get a steady 74mbps+ connection using the same LAN cable and
    also with the WLAN connection. My ISP has checked their side and everything is fine.
    To try and resolve the issue I tried uninstalling, disabling and tweaking various software and even tried safe mode with networking, all to no avail. I then decided to do a complete fresh install this afternoon. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
    successfully onto my SSD and everything went smoothly. I have now only installed Nvidia video drivers and the (only) WLAN driver from the Asus support site.
    My WLAN connection remains incredibly slow (amost half what it is on the HP and my MacBook Pro). Clearly this is an issue with either the Asus laptop or Windows but I don't know how to proceed in order to eliminate which it could be other than to try a different
    o/s to W7-Ult.
    Can anyone help who knows more about this than me? Perhaps someone who has had a similar or the same problem because this is giving me a severe headache!

    Thank you for responding. As I stated in my original post the reason I went through this process was because of an extremely slow internet connection from both the WLAN and LAN connections on my G53SW. At that time I had all of the correct drivers on the
    machine. Whilst I would agree that with the machine only having a video and WLAN driver it may well not be working 'optimally', the rationale for doing this was to get the machine working with the minimum of processes to show that it was not anti-virsu software,
    Steam or the like causing interference.
    I have changed out both of the HDDs this evening (a primary SSD and a secondary 1Tb HDD) for a clean hybrid 1Tb Seagate drive. Once I have installed all of the Asus drivers (and nothing else) I will try the speed test again and report back.
    I can now report that with a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and ONLY Asus drivers as supplied the issue remains. On a connection where I should see around 75mbps I am actually getting around 18mbps, sometimes considerably slower. This only affects
    my Asus machine.

    If you had mountain lion, you could've used a feature called power nap. It keeps networking on even when the mac is asleep.
    On other OS, I guess its bound to disconnect all networks when it goes to sleep You can try an app called Caffeine that doesn't let it go to sleep.

    I have upgraded the firmware to v 1.02.8 and reduced the MTU to 1350 but after a few minutes of doing that I had the same problem... The router reboots itself, again and again and again...
    It's possible to run some diagnostic utility that somebody can check ??

    I note that sometimes is ok and when Entering some web pages the router reboots itself and I loose my internet connection, but others, the router reboots for no apparent reason...

    When trying to connect my Canon Pixma MP550 to the Time Capsule, I encountered a mysterious problem: I can print from my MBP via TC but I am losing the internet connection (the DSL light on my ADSL modem starts to blink and the AirPort Utility says that there is a problem with the PPoE connection.
    Anyone having the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I have discovered that the problem was probably not related to the printer (even if other USB devices like memory sticks work when plugged in the TC). When trying to do a faster Time Machine backup and connecting my laptop to the TC with an Ethernet cable, the same thing happens - my modem loses Internet connection. Very curious, and to the date noone has been capable to find a solution...

    I own a 7510e all in one printer, I connected it wireless again after having it connected with a USB
    cable, I had to do this because my printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep or if I get a power outage, this has been going on since I purchased it last year. I got a new wireless router/modem combo from my ISP server and hoped that would solve the problem but it has not.
    I cannot get any apps except for those that are on the front of my printer which are just for small kids. It is registered with HP connected and I have a Efax # and HP connected address, I did everything correctly but it seems that each time I set it up wireless it messes up my desktop windows 7 home premium 64 bit, cloud services told me not to use  IE 10 but we are ready to download IE11 so I am using IE 10, this time HP support assistant quit working and I could not even uninstall it until I downloaded microsoft fix it and then redownloaded it from HP web site.
    If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it, I am not on a home group yet it always tells me I do not have administrators permission to do a lot of things, I am the only user.

    I checked and there is no way to turn off the sleep mode on this model.
    I included a document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection and to try Solution three: Assign a static IP address to the printer. You will need to get your It department most likely to set this up for you if you don't have full admin rights.

  • G4 QS 733 loses internet connect often with Comcast any ideas??

    I have a G4 QS 733 that loses internet connection through Comcast at least 2 times a day everyday for no rhyme or reason. I have had the cable modem replaced (on number 7 in 18 months but 2 were dead out of the box stupid refurbs) with a Motorola Surfboard from Best Buy and when it works it is great - 13mbps download consistently. I have a Belkin router wireless/wi-if and a PC and the Mac wired to it at the same desk with KVM and when the Mac loses connection if I switch to PC the PC connects fine so I think it is in the Mac but not sure. I have had several Macs hooked up to this same router including 2 Intel minis, several G3 towers and a few G3 iMacs and G4 towers as well and ALL had this problem at one time or another with no explanation whatsoever. I have replaced everything a minimum of 2 times now including router,modem, cables etc. and the cable drop from pole to house was replaced a few months back but no luck. Also all computers, router etc all hooked to APC battery backups so I do not think it is power related. I have no problems connecting my Pismo wiht either an Airport card or a Belkin 54g wireless PCMCIA card so I am convinced it is in the ethernet somwehow but not sure where. Anyone else have the same problems and fixed it?? Comcast is just not helpful and 14 service calls in 18 months is wearing thin at this point.

    Well just for kicks I tried running Firefox for a little over a week along with Safari and jumping back and forth between the 2, very interesting results. I have found that when Safari loses internet connection and gives "cannot find server" type errors that Firefox still has a connection and keeps right on going. I am convinced the error is within Safari but cannot pin down what it is yet. I had same EXACT disconnection issues with an Intel Mini that got so frustrating I finally sold it and it too was running Safari and I wonder if it had the same issue. Not bashing Safari but maybe there is a problem with Safari and Comcast cable that is not showing up with other internet providers or browsers ?? I am pretty sure my connection is good as all the cable wires, modem etc are all new and my PC which his hooked to the same router and shares the monitor/keyboard with the G4 never loses connection when Safari does so I think this cuts the cable out of the loop as a problem. Anyone else have similar issues???

    Thank you for the reply.  I did what you said, and it worked for awhile and then it started doing the same thing again.  I know it's not my internet connection or router, because like I said, Firefox never has any problems.  I dislike the new Firefox, so I went back to Safari, but if this keeps up I guess I'll have to go with Firefox.

    That is correct.. your cannot simply plug another router into the Mac..
    The correct way to do this is to plug the TC into the modem router your ISP supplies and set it up correctly as part of the network.
    Then you can connect either by wireless or by ethernet to the TC.

    If your problem is due to interference, you might be able to improve things by changing the channel.  An AirPort base station that old is probably an 802.11b/g model, which suggests that the best choices for channel are 1, 6, and 11.
