Aperture no longer loads my photos.
Aperture 1.5.1 no longer imports my pictures from my camera card. When I plug in my card, all I get is gray squares where the photos should be (and used to be.) I tried deleting the whole program and reinstalling, but the same thing happens. This same program runs just fine on my desktop with the same OS.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
No, DLS. Here is my procedure:
I plug my USB card reader into the laptop, then insert my camera card. Aperture automatically opens, as it should. I import the photos directly from the camera card through Aperture. This used to work. Now, it loads only some of the photos, then stops, and other times it doesn't load any photos.
I tried deleting Aperture completely and reinstalling. Same program and camera card work fine on my other computer, a desktop iMac with the same OS.
Hope this explains better.
Thank you,
Maria

Aperture no longer importing any photos
Hi Everyone - Aperture has stopped importing photos for me. I am running a Mac Pro mid-2011 with Yosemite.
It doesn't seem to matter how I try to get new photos into Aperture it is not working. I have tried from my iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1, an SD card from a camera and directly from image capture. Interestingly it will bring in older photos but nothing new. I worked through the settings graphic in another thread but it didn't help. I have also deleted and re-installed Aperture with no effect. Thank you for any help you can provide!Hi Kirby - I guess I wasn't as clear as I thought. Here are the answers to your questions:
Stopped ... how?
Basically, it never gets past the preview of what files are going to be imported. Even though there are pictures on the phone.
Do the image files show in the import window?
No. Sometimes a blurry image shows up but usually nothing.
Is "Import" greyed-out?
No.
Does Aperture seem to import and then you can't find the Images?
No, it is not behaving as it did before. It is not importing the photos.
Does nothing happen when you click "import"?
Pretty much.
Do you get a warning message or alert from Aperture or from OS X?
No.
What do mean by "older photos"?
Photos that are on my computer but not imported into Aperture previously. -
I don't know what I did, but Aperture no longer sees my HD as online, and I can't get my photo versions since the HD is not online. I see it in Finder and can see the original files and even copy them from Finder, but Aperture no longer recognizes the HD, and when I try to work with the picture, it doesn't let me because it says that the master is in a volume that's offline. Does someone know how to fix this?
Just to clarify:
Does Aperture not see the drive at all (that is, does Aperture also not see the drive in the import and export dialogue) or are only the Master Files disconnected?
If Aperture does not recognize the drive at all, check the permission settings of the drive in the "Get Info" panel and make sure you have read/write access, also the "Ignore ownership on this volumn" checkmark, this should be set.
If correcting the permissions does not help, make sure you have a backup, and then use "Disk Utility" to run a check and to repair the volumn, if necessary.
If Aperture can see the drive on import and export, but only does not see the master image files, then try to reconnect your masters.
Create a smart album or use a Search with the rule: "File status: offline", to select all images that need reconnecting to their masters.
Right click on the first image of the selection.
From the Pop-up window select "Locate referenced Files..."
Now the "Reconnect All" button should appear.
Click it. -
IPhoto 6 no longer loads photo library
I'm running two profiles/users on my Intel iMac: mine (admin) and my wife's. Until today I've been using iPhoto only on my profile and everything has been running fine. Then today I wanted my wife to have access to our iPhoto library so I moved the library into the shared folder and made sure it still worked in my profile and it did. I then changed the permissions to give her access, I then went onto her profile, held down the option key while loading iPhoto, directed iPhoto to the shared folder and it loaded all the photos on her profile. However, now when I go back to my profile, when I start up iPhoto, I get an endless wheel while it tries to load the photos. I've tried recreating the library but it doesn't work. Interestingly if I create a new library it works and even if I move that new library to the shared folder it still works.
From that basic diagnostic test I think iPhoto is running ok but something is wrong with that original iPhoto library.
I've read other similar posts on this site but have not found any that solved my problem. Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.Click here and follow the instructions. The iPhoto library cannot be shared between multiple user accounts in the same way as most files.

Aperture Thumbnails Not Loading
Hi-
Have used Aperture for a long time. Today, when I was importing new photos via a card reader, the "preview" wheel just kept loading and now all the thumbnails for my entire Aperture library are "loading" and not appearing. I am unable to do anything in Aperture since the color wheel is spinning.
I was tempted to power off, since I cannot force quit, however, I am paranoid that my entire library is in jeopardy.
Thanks for any advice.. help!
JaneHi Jane,
A friend of mine has the same problem. We are trying to solve it.
In the meantime you can start Aperture and check the damage. If the new photos you want to adjust are grey when you want to work on them you have the same problem.
You can try to delete the corrupted project if thats the only one and than reimport the pics. Othorwise you have to restore your Aperture library from your timemachine or another backup.
Please let me know if it helps.

Aperture No Longer Working With Screen Saver?
For years I've been using my Aperture library (specifically, the "Flagged Photos") with the Screen Saver in OS X. Since I upgraded to Lion last night, I have discovered that my Aperture library no longer shows up as an option in Screen Saver -- only iPhoto does.
As I am remiss to ditch years of work and return to iPhoto -- I was hoping someone might have discovered a solution for this problem (perhaps something to do with the iLife browser in Lion?).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Kluv32 wrote:
Then, I checked the new sharing preferences and closed out Aperture. I opened up the System Preferences for Screen Saver, and after waiting about 1-2 minutes, Aperture popped up in there as an option.
Can you please explain what you mean about "checked the new sharing preferences?" I see no way of setting any "sharing" preferences in Preferences or anywhere else in Aperture. Do you mean you just looked at the sharing preferences?
Since I've upgraded to the latest version, when I go to the System Preferences, Aperture is very slow in showing up on the ScreenSaver settings under System Preferences and the virtual Library folders no longer show up (they show up under the Desktop window though). However, after closing Aperture, the screensaver would display "looking for pictures" and would not display the photos.
The latest upgrade definitely broke something, although it greatly improved Aperture's response time, as it was getting pretty sluggish before the upgrade. -
Since upgrading to the newest version of ios 8, I can no longer share my photos on facebook. I have tried going to settings-privacy-photos, but the facebook app does not show up for me to change the settings. Any suggestions?
when you opened the shared library with the newer version of iPhoto (iPhoto '11) you were given a warning that your library would be converted and could not be used by older versions - you clicked ok to go ahead - there is no updo available - either upgrade to iphoto '11 of the MBP or load your backup of the iPhoto '09 library on it - older versiopns of i{Photo can not read newer libraries

Hi shaza31,
If your iPhone was set to save photos to Photo Stream, you may be able to access them by turning on Photo Stream on your other devices. The following article may be helpful:

IPhoto 08 will no longer import any photos/videos from my digital camera?!?
It seems as though after the most recent Snow Leopard update (10.6.4), I can no longer upload any photos to iPhoto on my imac. It seems as though this is a fairly common problem, and I'm wondering if anyone has been able to resolve it? I am honestly afraid to download any further updates from apple - every time something gets updated....something gets broken. I wish I was exaggerating here...since the initial upgrade to Snow Leopard, after every upgrade/update, major problems have shown up on my once-faithful Imac. Wireless networking, printing, third party software...and now iphoto.
Same here! During the last software update 7/23, I watched the update process and saw "removing files" as one of the last procedures. Did not realize until later that ALL of iLife '08 had been totally removed. A genius at the store told me that Snow Leopard won't work with iLife '08 and yet it was working fine until last Friday. Now instead of loading multiple photos to my MacBook Pro, iPhone will only allow one photo to be emailed or attached to a contact. They told me at the store I can use Image Capture instead, but that doesn't give me the thumbnail photos. Really dastardly update. Any suggestions except to purchase iLife '09?

How do I upload photo versions from aperture to my Ipad using photo stream.
I am not able to upload photo versions from aperture to my ipad using photo stream. The only photos that upload are the ones that have not been retouched. However when I try other unretouched photos in a different album they do not upload. Do I have some incorrect settings that need to be adjusted.
The photos that hove not been altered in aperture are uploaded in photo stream however the altered photos (versions) are not.
That is puzzling. My shared photo streams do upload all image versions I am dragging to them - original version and edited version. But both versions have to be shared to the stream, and they have to be unstacked, as Thomas already pointed out.
Sometimes it takes a long time for the images to appear in the Shared Photo Stream, however. Maybe your Aperture Library needs repairing. Have you tried the Aperture Library First Aid Tools? Launched Aperture with the ⌥⌘-kys held down? -
Long load times and poor application performance
We have packaged and deployed Adobe CC using SCCM within my school division. It pushed out fine, but now when we attempt to open Photoshop (or any other CC app) it has unusually long load times. 2-4 minutes. It seems to be hanging at the "Reading preferences" stage. After the application appears to have started, it takes an unusually long time to actually start working in the application (it appears to just hang).
Hello There,
EXE's always bundle additional files because it is a stand-alone entity. And, if the size 9GB then it will surely take time to load all the files. I'll check with the team again on how we can optimize it. BTW, are the videos inserted as slide video or Event video?
Thanks,

Long Load Times on Graphic Intensive Games
I'm experiencing some absurdly long load times (1-3 hours) with many games (SPORE, Portal, X:3, etc...) that I believe may be related to how graphically intensive they are. Older games with lower graphics quality (WoW, Civ 4, etc...) load up fine.
When I load any newer game the icon appears in the tray and the computer does nothing else for at least an hour, whereupon the program loads and begins playing immediately--often without any further delays or issues.
I also use Boot Camp to run Windows Vista (Ultimate 32) and experience no delays when running SPORE on Windows.

I am having a crash every time I try to load a photo to the beta.
I loaded and edited three photos with no issues and now LR4 crashes each time I try to load a new photo. I saw the mention of lens correction and CA correction, so I turned those off and the program still crashed on loading a photo.
The photos I have editred load just fine, and I managed to open one other but several photos have caused a crash before the photo finishes loading.
I converted these photo copies to .dng on import, if that helps or has any effect.OS - Windows Vista 32
Memory 4GB
Video Card NVidia Don't know number
Created new catalog, copied .cr2 files into catalog then converted to .dng
with 'fast load' checked
Running on external drive, where LR3 has always run
Error is not consistent, unfortunately. Several attempts to load photo
into Develop caused a crash, then a few more didn't. Wish I had better

Long loading time if no internet connection available (VS 2005 Redist)
Hallo forum members!
I've been searching for a solution for my problem for a while - without success. It isn't really a critical issue, but quite annoying anyways.
Here's the problem i'm dealing with: I've developed an .NET application using Visual Studio 2005 and the included Crystal Report classes. When deploying my module everything works as expected, offering a decent performance when loading the Crystal Report assemblies provided by the redistributable package - if an internet connection is available. If the system doesn't offer such a connection (e.g. not properly configured proxy settings) the module takes a huge amount of time to be loaded. An examination (using ProcMon) leaded to the conclusion that the Crystal Report assemblies try to retrieve the system connection settings from the registry in order to establish a connection to the internet. This is done only once when loading for the first time.
Has anyone experienced the same problem? What is this connection used for? Is there a way to suppress this behaviour on systems without a valid internet connection in order to avoid this annoying long loading time?
Thanks on advance for your help.
Greetings,
L.F.Nothing like a good vacation. And I got your christmas present early :). While you were away we (actually one other customer) figured it out. I have written a note re. the resolution that was supposed to be published yesterday, but it's still not out there, so here it is as I submitted it:
Symptom
When a report is loaded is takes between 150 - 180 seconds to display
This is only reproducible on computers with no internet connection
There are no error messages and the report comes up eventually
Reproducing the Issue
Create a Windows application with the following function calls:
new Report()
report.SetDataSource(dataSet)
The function SetDataSource takes 2 plus minutes to execute
Cause
On SetDataSource() an attempt is made to connect to crl.verisign.com
SetDataSource() uses the framework and as per the Microsoft Knowledge Base specified under "Resolution", it is actually the framework that is attempting the connection
Resolution
Solution is described in this Microsoft Knowlege Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936707
The following Microsoft article also discusses the issue:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb629393.aspx
An alternative workaround to the above is as follows:
Open IE and go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...
Go to the Advanced tab
Find the Security heading
Under the Security heading find "Check for publisher's certificate revocation"
Uncheck this option
Keywords
long time load crl.verisign.com certificate revoked internet
The note will be published here:

and the number will be 1270414
