Aperture Star Ratings Not Showing

Suddenly my ratings do not show on my photos. The rating does appear in the Metadata and the photos in a project sort by rating, but I cannot see the stars on the bottom corner of the thumbnail.
Hope it's just something I clicked on to hide them... any help?

There is a menu item to turn on and off the overlays in the thumbnail viewer. I think it is under View->Metadata.

This has been an ongoing issue with this camera for a long time. Search the list here or Google the issue to see the many posts on this.
For whatever reason Aperture is unable to report that data. Some have written that it is because the that particular lens/camera combination does not report the f stop information.
You can always send feedback to Apple see Aperture->Provide Aperture Feedback

  • File Names and Ratings not showing in browser or viewer

I seem to have a bug where Aperture sometimes fails to show the file names or their rating.
This happens in both Browser & viewer modes. Just the blank background.
I can see the name in the Metadata tab, but not underneath the files.
    Any ideas

I'm having a similar problem. The U key is active and the photo name (referenced from Finder) shows up. But I can't get the ratings to show up. From what the instruction manual says, I should see the stars in the lower LH corner, but I don't see anything. I've looked to see if there is a way to make them show or hide, but haven't found it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Sue

  • Star Ratings not shown.

I have Photoshop 11 and wish to put the star ratings to my photos.  They are presently not being shown.  I followed the video which states to go into View and click on Details.  I did this and all the showed up was the date!  Help please.

If you are zoomed out to far (the thumbnails are too small), you will not longer see additional details like the star rating or file name. Move the zoom slider at the bottom to the right to 25% or more.

  • Nano star RATINGS not reflected in iTunes 7.4.1 (2) - manual sync

    Aloha,
I rated several tunes while walking. I don't have enough room on my 4gb iPod to carry everything at once. I would like to temporarily remove those tunes that I have already rated and put some others on. I use the star ratings as my own personal way to sort by speed, favs, and junk.
When I get back to my Mac, I know that the ones with 1 star are to be deleted - pau (pronounced pow! Pau is Hawaiian for done, did it, finished, no more).
2 stars is slow, maybe no words
3 is walking pace, can talk over, easy listening
4 is dance, hike, pep up
5 are personal fav's of a variety of speeds
I want to have that ranking info sync up with the same songs that came from my library in the first place. Then I want to dump those and grab more music, or audiobook parts, or podcasts, whatevahs. This is the way I used to do it on my old FireWire iPod many versions of iTunes ago.
I plan to continue to rate music as I have time and when I get back to my Mac that rating system allows me to put the music into playlists that I have essentially created on the fly.
I can change my rating system at any time and wa-la I've got a new playlist.
I'm open to other ways of accomplishing same onthego sorting principle. I've tried creating a playlist using iTunes, but the playlist is on my Nano and I cannot copy it or the files to a playlist on my Mac. . . . maybe I can export a playlist
Oh, that was ugly - don't follow me! I imported the playlist into my library and I now appear to duplicates of every playlist related to music (and the two called 4star are both empty). Great (eSarcasm).

First thing to get out of the way is ratings do not transfer from iPod to iTunes in manual syncing. Try using sync selected playlists mode. Then set up iPod to sync the playlists you want on iPod.

  • Tags and star ratings not visable

when i select named tags and/or star ratings,is there a way to make these visable when viewing in organiser ?
    Any help gratefully received.

    Hi,
You don't say which version of Photoshop Elements you are using.
In genera, if you talking about seeing the tags and ratings in the thumbnail view in the organizer, go to the View menu and make sure that Details is checked. If you want to see the file names also check File Names. Yoou may have to increase the size of the thumbnails, by using the zoom slider, to make the information appear.
To see the tags associated with an image, hover the mouse over the little icons just below the thumbnail to the right. If you ae using version 12, you can select a thumbnail and then look in the Image Tags panel on the right. If the panel is not visible, click on the Tags/Info button (bottom right).
Please come back if you need further help

  • Troubles with my Aperture star ratings system

Been using aperture 2 for a couple of years now. No serious problems with it at all. Then, 2 weeks ago, all of a sudden my star ratings system started playing up and I have no idea why.
The problem is strange; it is still possible for me to rate photographs from 1 to 5 stars but when i come back to that folder and try to look at my 1 star or better pics then i see them all and the ratings i have assigned them. However, if i try to look at 2 star or better or 3 star or better etc photos then my screen is completely empty and if i want to export or sort my pics i now have to do it manually which seriously interrupts my workflow.
This issue applies to all my folders in aperture and I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you very much !!!

  • Need help Aperture 3 does not show thumbnails

Hello, after installing the Aperture 3, I found does not show thumbnails, tried to do everything he could, but nothing helped. Can anyone encountered this problem?

I've been having what seems to be permission related problems with previews. When you see no thumbnails, highlight all the images, right click on them and "delete previews", then "rebuild previews".
    See if that fixes it.

  • Star ratings not transferring in sync

When I'm on the go I give a star rating to my songs on my iPhone 3GS.
When I get home I'd love to transfer the ratings over to iTunes.
Is there a setting that turns this feature on?
Is it suppose to happen automatically?
I can't get any star ratings to transfer over from my iPhone to iTunes or from iTunes to my iPhone.
The sync takes ages then completes, I imagine it's doing something.
I had this issue before I updated to iOS4, I manually manage my music on the iPhone.

The ratings only transfer if you use itunes sync - they won't transfer using manually manage.
    Same for the play counts.

  • Reviews and ratings not showing up

Hi: All of the reviews are not showing up for our podcast. How do I get them to show up and how do I access them all. I know people have reviewed but I do not see their entry. https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/recurring-revenue-revolution/id530279018 and I have created an account, but still do not see them all. Thanks for any help.

You could email them at podcasts 'at' apple.com but I seriously don't think you will get a helpful answer. There isn't really anything else you can do except wait and see whether they show up eventually - the Store can be quite slow sometime about updating episodes so the same may well be true about reviews.

  • Song ratings not showing up

I rate songs on my ipod while I'm at work but when I plug it in to my laptop at home the ratings don't show up. Any way I can fix this?

I just don't want everything in my iTunes library on my iPod.
Okay, that's fine. There are a couple of options here as well!
If you turn off the tick-in-the-box that next to a song...
and Sync using Sync only ticked songs and videos as shown on the Device/Summary pane (when the iPod is connected to iTunes), then anything that is no longer ticked is not put on the iPod.
However, if managing that is too large a task, then perhaps some Playlists, or even better, Smart Playlists, may be the answer. You could then choose to only Sync selected Playlists to your iPod.
    For example:
Regular Playlists: - add songs and albums to Playlists and Sync only these to your iPod. You then have only part of your Library on your ipod. You change change which Playlists you Sync whenever you wish.
Smart Playlists: - I have several Smart Playlists, which are set to automatically remove songs from the Playlist once they have been played and only put them back into the playlist after several months. If you were to do this, and then Sync only selected Playlists, then each Sync of the iPod would update the Play count, remove the song from the Playlist (if that's what you want) and therefore from the iPod too, and then put songs back into the Playlist - and therefore onto your iPod as well, after say, six months.
In fact, I have the following:
Smart Playlist with 3, 4 and 5 star rated songs that I have not played for 7 months
Smart Playlist with 2 star rated songs that I haven't played for 13 months (note the different time scale)
Smart Playlist of songs that I have not played recently, and never rated, limited to 45 songs
Smart Playlist of songs that I have never played, limited to 75 songs
    ... and here's the really clever bit;
All those Playlists are in one Smart Playlist, named Ultimate. I frequently play only from the Ultimate playlist on my iPod. It gives me an "always different" mix of my favourite songs, not so favourite songs and new songs - without any effort on my part! I don't hear the same songs tooo often and I only have to Sync the iPod with iTunes every now and again.
If you like the idea of a Smart Playlist and need any help creating one or two to suit you, all you have to do is ask.

  • Aperture MobileMe Galleries not showing in iWeb widget. iPhoto Gallery does

Is this a know problem? The galleries I've created in Aperture are not available to select. The iPhoto web gallery shows up immediately in the iWeb menu.

Have you set Aperture to share the Previews with the iLife apps.
Aperture -> Preferences -> Previews and check the box at 'Share Previews with iLife and iWork'.

  • Help, Aperture web galleries not showing up on iWeb insert menu!

All of my iPhoto web galleries show up fine on the Insert menu (Insert > .Mac web gallery) for placement in a web page. None of the galleries created in Aperture show up. They all exist fine on the gallery page. This is very annoying
    Apple?
    -Josh

Yes, I have seen your name come up a lot in these posts. It seems it's just a total oversight on the part of Apple. I'm sure the issue lies with iWeb and not Aperture. There must be some list to look up and iWeb just fails to look in more than one place. Lets hope there is a +0.0.1 update soon.
What is the Apple "make a suggestion" URL?

  • Aperture 2 Library not Showing in iPhoto

I am trialng Aperture 2. Photos I put in the trial library, do not appear in the Show Aperture Library option in iPhoto. The photos are also not availabe for upload to iPhone through iTunes. I have all the Preview preferences checked including 'share with iLife'
I have rebuilt permissions, I have replaced pref files.....resest Preview info in Aperture several times with restarts in between - cant get it to work at all... I have iLife 08 and itunes 7.6
    Anyone any ideas?

OK heres the answer: Aperture was not generating previews despite correct preference settings. To overcome this you control-click on the Library in the left column while holding down the Option key. This will give you a "Generate Previews" option. Selecting this will bring back access not only form iPhoto but for iPods from within iTunes.

  • Ratings not showing up?

I am going through my shoots and rating the rejected photos. I then try to pull up the "X" rated photos and get nothing. Somehow the ratings are not being registered. This is killing my productivity.
Does anyone have any possible fixes? (Likely some sort of user-error.)
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Are you sure they're not registered, or just not shown? Some of the views don't show badges on the photos. That may be what's happening here -- experiment with it a bit.
