Aperture to apple tv

I photograph in raw format and would like to show the pictures through my Apple TV. Does anyone know of a convenient way to convert raw images to jpeg images within aperture so i needn't export them to the desktop and then reimporting them back into aperture. Thanks

You probably already have the previews generated. Unless you've taken an action to turn it off. The default is previews generated. And you do not want to manually move the previews - which is inside of your Aperture Library.
There is nothing to do, per sa, to share with iLife programs. If you open iPhoto, for an example, there should be, under "File", show Aperture Library. It will bring up all of your projects/albums/smart albums, as you have them in Aperture, and you can select any to see the images in your Ap Lib. If not, start Aperture, goto the menue "Aperture>Preferences" and look at the bottom part of the Preference pane and you will see the preview settings, including an option to share with iLife.
The same Ap Lib will show up in iTunes, when you are selecting what to do with AppleTV.
You can always create a smart folder(s) in Aperture for AppleTV (I did for iPhone) or simpley select one of he existing albums.
Not as complicated as might sounds. Just try it and see...
Cheers

  • Aperture with Apple Mail

I want to show the Apple Mail Photo Browser from Aperture to Apple Mail.
    It just shows iPhoto only.
In setting Aperture the photo browser, it has not worked. Aperture Version 3.2.2

My Lion Version is 10.7.2, Aperture Version 3.2.2
That is the same version I have. Where is your Aperture Library located? In your "Pictures" folder, in a Shared Folder, or on an external volume?
Do you see Aperture not at all in Mail, or do you just not see any projects and albums?
If you do not see Aperture at all (it may take some time for Aperture to appear in the Media Browser)
If you see Aperture in Mail, but the projects and albums are missing, then there may be a problem with your previews. Try to force a rebuild of the Previews:
select all images in the Browser.
Hold down the "Options key" and ctrl-click the images.
From the pop-up menu select "Generate Previews".
That may take a while if your library is big, best do it over night.
Also, if your Preferences files are corrupted, it sometimes helps to switch between libraries. Try the following: Quit Mail.
In Aperture, go to the "File" menu and select   New -> Switch To Library -> New/other
    Create a new Library,
In Aperture, go to the "File" menu and select   New -> Switch To Library -> Select your old Library
    Quit Aperture  and relaunch
Then relaunch Mail, and see, if it now sees all images.
If none of these easy options help, there may be a problem with your Aperture Library. If your Library is not inside your home folder, report back, else try the general trouble shooting measure described here:

P.S. if the link above does not work at once, enter the url a second time, Apples support pages are acting up a little recently.

  • How to share aperture to apple tv

I used to have no issues sharing photo albums from Aperture to Apple TV but now the only share options I see on the Apple TV are for iCloud.  Is the ability to share from Aperture no longer available or am I doing something wrong.  I have a specific album I want to use for screen saver and share to the Apple TV.  The iCloud option is not really useful to me.
    Softare/hardware details:
    macbook pro os/x 10.9.2
    apple tv III  6.1
    itunes 11.1.5
    aperture 3.5.1
I think this must be operator error but I've tried every itunes/aperture share option that I could find.

well I already had home sharing turned on and had selected albums but surprisingly when I went to Computers on the Apple TV the shared computers nor the albums were showing.
So I went to my computer and toggled home sharing and magically it did appear.
My guess is that when the Apple tv software was recently updated that triggered home sharing to be turned off on the Apple TV even though it continued to show "on" on the computer.   Whatever, it's now working the the computer shows up in "Computers" on the apple tv and most importatnly the Aperture album shows up.

  • Has anyone tried to return Aperture to Apple?

Here's a question. For those of you that are unhappy with Aperture, have you called their customer service and asked if you could return it? I've always found Apple to be very reasonable. This would especially go for those who were confused by the inclusion of their cameras on the supported list that don't support their native RAW format?
I saw a post on another forum from an individual that said he called Apple support, explained his situation to them, and they told him to return the item.
    Sounded fair to me.
    Jeff Weinberg

I have an extra 2GB of RAM coming tomorrow. If Aperture continues to quit (crash) on me, then I will be asking for a full refund. If they choose not to refund the cost, then I will put a hold on my Visa charge. A true shame (especially since I bought stock after it split). If people sued Apple over batteries that cost $70 to replace, you can bet they will not hesitate to sue over a $500 piece of software that is obviously critically flawed.
Note to self - never try any first-relase software again.
I hope Apple does not bungle their Intel OS release the same way this app has been.

  • Syncing photos from Aperture to Apple TV

I have first generation Apple TV to which I sync music and photos from an iMac using a wireless connection.
Until recently I used iPhoto. Now I have installed Aperture and cannot get this to sync.
The dropdown menu says "Sync photos from:..."
    iPhoto
    Choose folder…
    Pictures
Aperture is nowhere to be seen.
How do I get Aperture to appear in the menu?

Syncing works by copying selected content to the tv HDD, after which you no longer need any connection to itunes to be able to play this content.
Selection is made either manually or automatically in your sync options within itunes depending on which you choose, automatic sync will sync things like the most recent unwatched items for you.
Anything that isn't synced to the tv can be watched through the streaming of content from your itunes library on your mac/pc, so for streaming to work, you need itunes to be running.

  • Adjusting image in Aperture for Apple TV (16:9)

I create an album from original master photos.
I cropped them in 16:9 and syncronize them via iTunes to Apple TV.
They not appear in Apple TV.
Which is the correct method to do that ?
I'd like not duplicate original master to save disk space.

Yes the problem seems related to update preview in Aperture.
After cropping picture to fit 16:9 ratio, i've now manually (not exists an autoupdatepreview option ?).
It's strange but only 1 photo is update also in Apple TV the others remain unmodified.
I've waited for the updatepreviewprocess to finish and then open itunes to update (automagically, isn't it?) photo also in Apple TV.
    thanks

  • Aperture Books:  Apple Logo?

I'd like to offer books as one of the photographic products I offer to my portrait clients. For those of you that had ordered the hardcover books from Apple through Aperture, is there any Apple logo on the book, or any copy that would indicate where it was printed? Much thanks!

Sorry to reopen an answered question, but I've just received a sample book I've ordered through Aperture 3 and there are Apple references everywhere. The return address on the box, the sleeve the book is enclosed in, there's even an invoice/packing slip inside.
Does Aperture/Apple offer a way to drop-ship these books directly to clients without ANY reference to Apple whatsoever? I would hope they'd keep this in mind as these books may be sold by photographers to clients directly. I really hope there is a way, or else I'll be forced to go in the way of Mpix, etc.

  • HT3781 Exporting slideshows from aperture to apple tv

Does anyone have any tips in terms of producing as good a quality slideshow on a HD Pioneer Elite TV via apple tv?
I am not able to replicate the resolution of the photos on the tv screen and I presume there is a setting that needs to be changed.
The movies we rent via itunes to apple tv to the Pioneer TV screen display in lovely HD so I presume there is something I am doing wrong.
If anyone has a suggestion I would be most appreciative.
    Thank you.

Without knowing what settings you are using how can anyone say what settings need to be changed?
So post back with OS and Aperture versions, how you're making the sideshow, what theme and what settings you are using. Also where in the chain does the sideshow drop quality? In Aperture, on your Mac, only at the TV?
    regards

  • Aperture or apple printing?

Has anyone had problems with having apple print off a photo book with part of the cover cut off when you have previewed it in aperture and it was all there when you sent it off to be printed?

Hi. Issues with Airport Printing can try this following Troubleshooting steps.
1). Make sure the printer prints when directly connected to the computer.
2). Delete any printer you have in Print & Fax pane in System Preferences now.
3). Connect the printer back to the Airport Base Station.
4). Check if the printer is recognized in Airport Utility ( HD/Applications/Utilities/Airport Utility).
5). Add the Airport connected Printer in Print & Fax pane under System Preferences. And make sure the location should say the Airport Base Station name while adding.
    6). Try printing.
    Hopefully this should work.

  • Aperture and Apple XRaid

    Hi,
Is anybody using Aperture with an Apple XRaid system?
What's your setup, do you store the library on it or only referenced files?
    How is the performance?
    Thanks and Regards,
    JO

The Xserve RAID should be quite fast for Aperture. Given that it's really attached and on 100% of the time (this is the way the RAID is designed to be used), I'd store the entire Aperture library on it.
I haven't used the RAID specifically with Aperture, but have used it for numerous other things -- this would be a great use if you have the money for the setup.

  • Aperture com.apple.qtkits deny

When I launch Aperture it grinds to a veritable hault.  Looking in the console reveals thousands of messages piling up.  These messages all take the form:
    1/25/13 4:34:43.475 PM sandboxd[40351]: ([40349]) com.apple.qtkits(40349) deny file-search /
    1/25/13 4:34:43.483 PM sandboxd[40351]: ([40349]) com.apple.qtkits(40349) deny file-read-data /
    1/25/13 4:34:45.753 PM sandboxd[40351]: ([40349]) com.apple.qtkits(40349) deny system-fsctl 0x7a0c
Clearly the sandbox is preventing Aperture from doing what it's supposed to do (the purpose of the sandbox, ironically - but that's another topic).
I am using the latest versions of both (Mac OS X 10.8.2 and Aperture 3.4.3).  Nothing is pirated; I own both.
Anyone have any idea how to go about fixing this, so I can use Aperture again?  I am reluctant to do the whole PC "delete and reinstall" business, but I am more than happy to dig around the Library folder and edit or delete plist files.
    Thanks for any tips.

Even if that would help (and thanks for getting me this far), I'd rather not permanently disable video previews.  I've been using iPhoto instead of Aperture while this gets fixed, and Yet despite waiting the last upgrades of Aperture and Mac OS X neither have fixed the bug.
Perhaps there is some way of forcing some kind of a reload of video, or of changing permissions for those actual files?
The menu command as it turns out is "Relocate Original" which lets me "move" all files into the Aperture library's Storage in the file system.  Because my Library is not a "Managed" library, the library file itself is on my Mac, while the photo/video files are all on the Time Capsule.

  • How-To: White-balance your image properly  Attn: Aperture Team @ Apple

Since Aperture's white balance eye-dropper is more-or-less useless I have taken it upon myself to discover a means to accurately white-balance an image using Aperture.
    My method is as follows:
    1. Open my desired image in Aperture and hit Z to view at 100%
    2. Open up /Applications/Utilities/DigitalColor Meter
    3. In DigitalColor Meter, go into preferences and select the following options:
    Magnification Factor: 8x
    Refresh behavior: Refresh continuously
[X] Float window above other apps
    4. Set DigitalColor Meter's "Aperture Size" to the third or 4th notch to get a fairly large radius
    5. Move the cursor over the image until DigitalColor Meter's "Aperture" box is over a portion of the image that you want neutral and hit Command(Apple)-L
to lock it at that position
    6. Adjust the White Balance controls in Aperture until DigitalColor Meter reads equal (or approximately equal) R G B values
You now have an image that's white balanced accurately for the area you selected. If it is not satisfactory, click on DigitalColor Meter and hit Command(Apple)-L to unlock and repeat the 5th and 6th steps above with a new area.
Notice to Apple's Aperture Team: This is how white balance should work in Aperture. The white balance eye-dropper currently produces pretty random results. When working on this tool for a future update, look at allowing the user to set a radius for sampling the image and build the DigitalColor Meter into the application. This would bring Aperture closer to being a real professional tool.
    Dual G5 2.5GHz, 4GB RAM, GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Test Results:
    Aperture 1.1:
    Image Temperature: 3594
    Tint: -17
When using the white balance tool on a white section of a photo, the RGB values changed from R 255 G 234 B 192 to R 255 G 230 B 197 and the Temperature changed to 3946 and Tint to 12.
    The photo still remained unacceptable.
When usint the white balance tool on a grey section of the same photo, the RGB values cahnge from R 211 G 178 B 126 to R 208 G 180 B 162 and the Temperatue changed to 3154 and Tint to 2.
The photo still remained unacceptable but was notably improved.
Using Capture One Pro, the results were as follows:
    Temperatue: 3850
    Tint: -10
When using the white balance tool on a white section of the same photo, the RGB values changed from R 255 G 241 B 200 to R 244 G 244 B 244 and the Temperature changed to 2500 and Tint to -16.
Photo was very acceptable with no perceivable colour cast.
When using the white balance tool on a grey section of the same photo, the RGB values changed from R 190 G 153 B 108 to R 153 G 153 B 153 and Temperature to 2550 and Tint to -2.
Photo was very acceptable with no perceivable colour cast.
From this quick test on a photo, I can draw the following conclusions:
    1. Aperture interprets temperature and tint data differently from Capture One Pro, although this likely due to the use of a camera profile within Capture One Pro;
    2. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "white" section does not neutralize the RGB values;
    3. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "white" section does not correctly remove a colour cast within a photograph;
    4. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "grey" section does not neutralize the RGB values; and
    5. Using the white balance tool in Aperture on a "grey" section does not correctly remove a colour cast within a photograph, although it does work better.

  • Aperture and Apple Maps

In Aperture 3.6 the GPS feature is supposed to use Apple Maps now. But instead of showing the map, it says "Your computer is not connected to the Internet. Aperture needs an Internet connection to show where your photos were taken".
Of course the computer is connected to the internet and the photos still have correct GPS coordinates...
Any idea how to fix that?

You may be getting the same error message, if Apple's Map servers are not working or if a firewall, like Little Snitch,  is intercepting the connection to the map server. You may want to disable firewalls to check this.
Can other apps connect to maps servers? Maps? iPhoto? Contacts?
If iPhoto can show the maps, but Aperture not, reinstall Aperture.

  • Aperture and Apple TV

I currently stream content from itunes to ATV and use iPhoto. I am considering purchasing Aperture. Will I be able to stream photos from Aperture to ATV or will I have to put them in iPhoto first?

I have been using Aperture with AppleTV. It is nice to be able to show off your photos in the living room on a big screen HDTV instead of having to huddle around the computer in the den. The only downside I can tell you is that AppleTV ignores any folder/project structure you set up and brings in each album separately and in no particular order. Also, whenever you add a new album or project it goes to the bottom of the list. All the effort of organizing my thousands upon thousands of photos was all for naught. It would be nice if AppleTV would recognize the database structure of Aperture the same way it does iTunes.
