APEX 4.2.1: owa directory is empty

APEX: 4.2.1
RDBMS: 10.2.0.4
Oracle Application Express requires the PL/SQL Web Toolkit version 10.1.2.0.6.
We have 10.1.2.0.5.
For instructions on installing version 10.1.2.0.6, we've reviewed the README.txt file
contained in the directory apex/owa.
That file is the only one into the direcotry apex/owa.
So we unable to install the required PL/SQL Web Toolkit version.
Where are the installation scripts?

The workaround is the following:
- download APEX 4.1.1
the required files are into the directory ./apex/owa.

• Application directory is empty

I have some applications and databases that are empty. They appear in the Applications combo and Databases box of the server window. But when I click on them a message like 'Application Directory is empty' turns up.I have tried to make the appropiate subfolders in the \essbase\app folder with the names of the applications and databases. And when I finally try to delete the database in the Application Manager a message turns up saying 'Unable to load database'.What can I do to prevent those empty applications and databases to appear in the server window.Thank you very much

It sounds like what has happened is that someone deleted the contents of these folders using some tool other than App Man - not a good idea. The best way to be able to remove them from app man would be to stop the Essbase server, and copy the dbname.otl file from an app/db that works, and rename the file to the database you are trying to restore. This should allow you to at least start the application and delete it via application manager.Hope that helps.Regards,Jade---------------------------------Jade Cole Senior Business Intelligence ConsultantClarity [email protected]

Hi,
I have Solaris 10u8 with patch cluster from February2010 and patch 121430-44 installed on a V445

It returns a "directory not empty" error

I think I figured it out...
In the / dataset there is a /var/tmp that is missing the sticky bit (mode 0755) There was an anomaly during the u7 to u8 luupgrade that caused this, I think. It was a couple weeks ago and it didn't take me too long to overcome it by 'chmod 1777 /var/tmp'. But that was with the /var dataset mounted.
Unfortunately, zfs just mounts over the bad /var/tmp in the / dataset causing lumount to barf during the lucreate process because that there's already something in /var/tmp when it tries to mount the var dataset clone.
I dropped to single-user mode, force-unmounted /var, and deleted /var/tmp (which still had the 0755 permissions). lucreate works just fine now...
Good luck,
Mike

• Music directory appears empty, but it's

I have a Creative Zen 32 GB.
Firmware version .2.0
Contains about 7 GB of music
I've had it for about 3 weeks, and it worked great until last night.
I listened to it for awhile yesterday afternoon, and then went to add some new music yesterday evening and ran into problems.
I opened Windows Explorer to 'drag and drop' the new mp3's and the Music directory appeared empty from within WE. I've added new music this way previously, and I was able to see all the subfolders of mp3's on my Zen; it looked just like browsing folders with? WE on my computer.
I unplugged the Zen, and verified that the music was still in the player, and it was.
I plugged it back in, and tried the Zen Media Explorer. I ran into the same problem. The music directory appeared empty when I tried to browse it from the ZME.
I went back to Windows Explorer and tried dragging and dropping a folder of new songs into the Music directory.
It acted like it was copying them, but afterwords, WE still read the directory as empty.
I unplugged the player and checked the music list, and the new songs were on there.
I thought maybe it was my home computer (Dell Dimension 8250 running Windows XP w/ SP2), so I tried my work computer today (Dell Optiplex 755 running Windows XP w/ SP2), and got exactly the same results. Tried both Windows Explorer and Zen Media Explorer, and neither one would view the contents of the Music directory on the Zen.
I downloaded the Recovery Tool and ran it. It upgraded the firmware, but that was all it did. I went back into Windows Explorer and Zen Media Explorer and there was no change. They both still show the directory as empty.
It seems like the problem is within the Zen player, since I've run into the same behavior on two different computers.
Has anyone out there run into a problem like this?

Hi,
(first of all: sorry for my bad English!)
I have the same exact problem, the music files stills in the Player (with the Folder Icon too) and the Zen still them correctly, but in the Media Explorer the Music Directory Is Empty.
Plus all the Videos and DataFiles (no multimedia files) have totally deleted from the player!!! (how it is possible?)
In this scenario (files in the Player but not showed in the Zen Music Folder) i've add some new files (with the Creative Media Explorer), the player correctly puts these new files in the list togheter with existing files, but in the Media Explorer -> Music Folder i can see only the new added files.
If i select Properties from Windows it tells me the right free space available (even if i couldn't see the files).
There is something i can do instead of Format the Player? (i've update the firmware but didn't change the situation)
Zen 8GB fw:.2.0e, no SD in the Player.
Thanks
Vahes?

• Apex Listener standalone and mapping directory

Hello,
I install Oracle XE 11 + Apex 4.2.2 + Apex Listener 2.0.2.
All work ok.
But, I need access from Apex applications to directory on server.
On the Oracle Http Server is solution in dads.conf :
Alias /test/ "/mnt/test"
It is possible this on Apex Listener in Standalone mode?
Or I must use glassfish, deploy apex.war and deploy static mapping war files like :
java -jar apex.war static --context-path /test /mnt/test/
-> test.war -> deploy and then work?
Thanks for any solution
Best Regards
Max Devaine

i have the same issue.
I put a alias in dads.conf in apex folder.
Alias /u/ "E:\ApexUserData\/"
restarted apex listener (standalone).
but unable to read file from the folder "e:\apexuserdata\aaa.txt"
the link i used is
http://host:port#/u/aaa.txt
unable to read the file. but able to read
http://host:port#/i/arrow.gif
directly without problem.

• Applications directory is empty

I just upgraded to Yosemite on my MacBookPro Late2012 - and now I find that no applications are shown within the Applications directory when I click on it.
Installed applications work - so they must be there - but even in my timemachine backup the Application Directory is shown empty.
Its only that directoy, all others have the content I know.
Is this a bug? How do I get my Applications "back" - I mean that they are visible to me again.

I did CMD-R now on bootup went to the disc repair and repaired the accessrights - no solution to my problem
I did sudo mdutil -E / - still no "applications" show up in the directory
My finder crashes like a hickup every minute
When I try to get information on the application folder the information window shows "calculating size" but crashes after about 5 sec.
My CrashLog also is full with "deny" and "com.apple.security...." problems:

• Enable SSO APEX 4 and MS Active Directory

Hi,
I want enable SSO on my APEX applications. Actually, we use Microsoft Active Directory and Windows 2003 (tomorrow maybe Windows 2008).
Regarding your experiences, what is the best solution that I can us in order to implement SSO ?
Thanks for your help,
I have forget to give this informations :
- Our Oracle Server is under Linux.
- We use Oracle Database 11GR2.
- Our domain controller is under Windows 2003 (we will probably upgrade to 2008 this year).
- Our APEX version is 4.1.0.00.32.

Morten -- Interesting. I wish we had found that before we implemented WebLogic and the APEX listener, it may have been an interesting other option to consider. I'm not sure it would have made it past our change control folks as they might bark at the supportability/security, but it is a intriguing option.
Patrick -- (You have a great blog by the way.). We are talking about upgrading our APEX 3.1 instances this year so I am very interested in the new authentication type. Is it doing anything other than simply retrieving the logon_user? i.e., is it actually authenticating against anything or would it just read the logon_user and let them in if they matched a known username?
AJ -- We just converted from Oracle Portal last year. When I had Oracle Portal, I had it setup to use Windows Native Authentication following the supported solution for that and then had APEX set up as a partner application for portal. So if someone hit portal first, they'd automatically logon as their active directory user through WNA and would be dropped into portal. If they then hit a link for APEX in portal, it would (in rapid succession) go to APEX, redirect back to the portal SSO server, see they were authenticated in app server, and drop them into APEX with barely a visible screen flicker. It worked flawlessly UNTIL we started upgrading to Windows 7. Then a number of changes and patches are required to get WNA to work with app server 10g and Windows 7. If you are using portal in your 10g IAS, you may want to consider that route.
Pardon me while I hop on my soapbox briefly -- I think if our friends in Oracle land could come out with a fully supported method of using NTLM or similar technologies to automatically login to APEX applicaitons, it would help considerably in the adoption of APEX and the APEX listener in customers that have Oracle databases and Active Directory which is a pretty decent size market.
Ok, soapbox moment ended. :-)

• Directory "domains" empty...

I cannot run (Ctrl+F5) the projects I created in "Sun Java Studio Creator", because I do no have the "domain.xml" file.
In fact the complete folder "domains" (*C:\Program Files\Sun\Creator2_1\SunAppServer8\domains*) is empty.
I already reinstalled the program, but the problem is still not resolved...
Can anyone help me?
Btw, I use Windows Vista SP1

I have a very similar issue with one other complication:
kerberos has stopped and does not seem to want to restart, I've gone over the dns setup which appears to have the correct record entries (lower case domain name, forward and reverse lookups return fqdn). I've been getting the same log entries.
Anyone have any ideas? thanks.

• Process 0kb empty file and deliver to target directory

Hello Experts,
We had a requirements to process an empty file handling and send it to the receiver/target directory. We had configured to "Process Empty File" Handling and “Write Empty File. The 0KB file polling successfully and archived to the directory with empty payload, but the message output was never created/sent to the target directory. In smxi_moni error message displayed:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
- <!--
Request Message Mapping
      -->
- <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="">

<SAP:Stack>Unable to read payload from the message object</SAP:Stack>
      <SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
      </SAP:Error>
Since this is an empty file, there are no mappings involved.  Is there a way to that we could check for 0kb file? If it is empty file, we want to pass/place the empty file to the target directory and if it is not empty, we want the message to process in the standard way.

Hi David,
"Since this is an empty file, there are no mappings involved. "
do you mean you didnt do the mapping at all cos it is empty file ?
though it is empty file still you need to do the mapping as usually, but when you check the option process the empty file both in sender and receiver adapter ,then it will process even an empty file comes.if you dont check these options and you get an empty file during the process then the mapping will fail.
in real time you don't know which one is empty file right, but her you know cos you are placing empty file.
I think you got to do all the steps you do in eneral for a scenario and top on that you have to check process empty file in both sender and receiver adapters, but you may not see the payload in SXMB_MONI.
but search in SDn you get lot stuff.

• JFileChooser in OS X: Approve Button Disabled In Empty Directory

I have written a simple extended JFileChooser-based 'wizard' to assist in working with sound files in an application. It's a JDialog, which contains a JFileChooser to which is added a file preview (player) accessory. In step 1 you choose a file. In step 2 I reset the current directory to the destination. The user then presses the approve button ad it drops a copy of the selected file into the current directory.
This works OK in Windows, but in OS X the approve button is disabled if nothing is selected in the current directory. If the destination directory is empty there is no way to get the approve button to be enabled. JFileChooser allows you to modify a few properties of the approve button, but hides the button itself. Is there any way to ensure that this button is enabled even if the current directory is empty or nothing is selected?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Hmm... perhaps in step 2 you could setFileSelectionMode(DIRECTORIES_ONLY) and allow the user to choose the directory?
To get better help sooner, post a SSCCE that clearly demonstrates your problem.
To post code, use the code tags --
Your Code
will display asYour CodeOr use the code button above the editing area and paste your code between the {code}{code} tags it generates.

• Home directory empty

Hello,
So i was connected with vnc to my Arch server and it was acting weird so I did a reboot. Now after the reboot my home directory is empty and I cannot start xfce4. I logged in with the root account and the home directory is still empty so its not the rights I think. How can I trace the problem on this I have no clue where to start. Everything was working great before the reboot.
Thanks in advance,
Slayeriq

Thanks that was the problem indeed, in /etc/ there where a couple of files called mtab~ and mtab.fuselock I removed these and now my home partition is mounted again.

• Why an empty directory take so much space?

Here is the problem:
[kokoko3k@Gozer ~]$ mkdir /tmp/testdir
[kokoko3k@Gozer ~]$ ls -la /tmp/|grep testdir
drwxr-xr-x 2 kokoko3k users 4096 7 feb 12.01 testdir
We have 4K, ok.
[kokoko3k@Gozer ~]$ cd /tmp/testdir/
[kokoko3k@Gozer testdir]$ while true ; do touch $RANDOM ; ls -1 |wc -l ; done
1
2
600
^C
[kokoko3k@Gozer testdir]$ ls -la /tmp/|grep testdir
drwxr-xr-x 2 kokoko3k users 20480 7 feb 12.02 testdir
20K makes sense, it is full of files, but look here:
[kokoko3k@Gozer testdir]$ rm /tmp/testdir/*
[kokoko3k@Gozer testdir]$ ls -la /tmp/|grep testdir
drwxr-xr-x 2 kokoko3k users 20480 7 feb 12.03 testdir
...now the directory is empty and still take so much space, i dropped caches but nothing changes, the only way to free it is to rmdir and mkdir again.
filesystem is ext4 and mount options are: defaults,barrier=0
Is this... normal?

I can clearly "rmdir /tmp/testdir", that means that the directory is empty, or rmdir reports an error, but here it is the log with du, this is on another box:
koko@slimer ~ ls -la /tmp/testdir
ls: cannot access /tmp/testdir: No such file or directory
koko@slimer ~mkdir /tmp/testdir
koko@slimer /tmp/testdir $ sudo du -sh /tmp/testdir
4,0K /tmp/testdir
koko@slimer ~cd /tmp/testdir
koko@slimer /tmp/testdir $ while true ; do touch $RANDOM ; ls -1 |wc -l ; done
1
2
3
648
649
650
651
^C
koko@slimer /tmp/testdir $ sudo du -sh /tmp/testdir
20K /tmp/testdir
koko@slimer /tmp/testdir $ cd ..
koko@slimer /tmp/testdir $ rm /tmp/testdir/*
koko@slimer /tmp/testdir $ sudo du -sh /tmp/testdir
20K /tmp/testdir
koko@slimer /tmp $ ls /tmp/testdir/ -la
totale 44
drwxr-xr-x 2 koko users 20480 7 feb 17.43 .
drwxrwxrwt 16 root root 20480 7 feb 17.49 ..
koko@slimer /tmp $ rmdir /tmp/testdir
koko@slimer /tmp $ mkdir /tmp/testdir
koko@slimer /tmp/testdir $ sudo du -sh /tmp/testdir
4,0K /tmp/testdir
Still, dir size become bigger when a lot of files are put into it, but never gets smaller, even after deleting all of the files.
Is it a bug?
-EDIT-
Seems to be expected...

Hi!
Even not knowing which platform you are working on, first off try to create a file in the directory you are unpacking to. (create an empty textfile in windows or "touch test" when using unix). If this works, you need to check if your user got permissions to overwrite/delete the files in the kernel directory.
If touch fails then you need to adjust the permissions of the directory itself you are working in.
Also make sure the files are not in use.
