App catalog download failed, not enough storage to download after updated to 3.0.4

hi,
I am getting the above  message after updating the touchpad 32G to 3.0.4. There are over 10GB space left on the device. Has anyone else got the same error message when downloading an app from the catalog?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

So the storage space that the device only shows what is available for you to actually install or store data to. It doesn't include directories that are pre set aside with file caps that you won't know how much data is in there.
The likely cause of the issue is that either your downloadhistory.db is large and/or your /var/file-cache filesystem or /var is full.
So to rectify, you have to options.
1. Preware - you can get a patch to view the file structure and check to see if the offending directories or files are full. You can also dabble in using linux commands to navigate through there as well. (all at your own risk).
2. Full erase the device which will inevitably wipe those offending directories clean and give you a clean slate to run off of for a while.

    iCloud storage cannot be used to download content, because its not on your phone.
    You need physical local storage on your Phone not iCloud to download content.
    If your iPhone no longer has enough space, you will need to delete things off your iPhone to make room.

  • I upgraded my storage plan but one of my devices still shows not enough storage to download application.

    I have upgraded storage plan because it kept telling me I did not have enough storage to download apps or take photos.  Now it is still giving me that error message!  Help!

    Hi Tawkd,
    Adding more iCloud storage will not help with your problem. What the error message is telling you is that you do not have enough physical storage on your actual device to be able to add more photos or apps. You need to go to Settings>General>Usage and at the very top under Storage, it will tell you how many GB you have used, and how many you have left.
    You need to free up storage on your device by deleting some of the things which are taking up so much room.
    Cheers,

  • Tells me not enough storage to download a video

    I'm trying to watch a video but it wont let me download it. I am getting a message that says not enough storage.  How do I fix that

    Are you trying to add a movie/video to iTunes and then to the phone? Are you trying to stream something from the web? How much storage do you have available on the phone?

  • I purchased a film and it says download error not enough storage I have purchased more storage and still unable to download

    I purchased a film and it said download error  purchased extra storage and still can't download this has now cost me for a film I can't watch and extra storage

    You need more storage space on the iPad itself - not in iCloud. You wasted your money npbuying that extra storage. iCloud storage is for backups only. It's not like having an external or cloud storage solution where you can off your content and bring it back when you want to.
    Go to Settings>General>Useage>Storage and look at your movies, TV shows, photos, apps. You can delete content in there to make more room on your iPad for the movie.

  • Error message: not enough storage to download rented movie

    i have the iPad mini. trying to rent a couple of movies.i'm getting a message that I don't have enough room. But i have previously been able to rent 3 movies at one time.

    Go to Settings>General>Usage and check to see how much free space you have and what you can delete to free up space.

  • HT1766 Why can't I use my camera on my iPhone 5, nor am I able to update an app, with my iPhone claiming that there is not enough storage, even though I paid for mor storage, and my phone claims I still have plenty storage... I guess i bought a$500doorsto

    Why does my iPhone 5 keep saying "cannot download" "There is not enough storage to download 'Facebook'. (Btw, I already have fb on my iphone 5, just trying to update it). You can manage your storage in Settings... Well, in settings, I have plenty of storage left that I bought... called iCloud! What's up with this piece of $500 junk I bought from apple, that it won't allow me to record memorable moments in my life!!! Should I go back to android, which lets me record hours of video/audio/pictures, without ever "CHARGING ME EXTRA", never even a dime!!! What a waste of time, energy, resources, etc. I miss Steve Jobs... He wouldn't have screwed his customers over like this!

    Go to Settings>General>Usage and see how much available local storage you have available. You can also see what apps are taking up the most room.
    You say that you paid for more iCloud storage. That's for back ups. You can't download apps to it or steam media from it. In order to take pictures you have to have space on the phone itself.
    Best of luck.

  • ITunes store says not enough storage. I have plenty. Help!

    I have 199 of 200 gigs free.  I bought more storage, thinking I needed it to download a movie I bought.  iTunes store keeps telling me can't download movie, not enough storage.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

    You can view the amount of free space that you currently have on your iPad via Settings > General > About > Available, and you can see the amount of space that each app is taking up via Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage (under the 'storage' heading) - the size of the film should be shown on its description page in the store, if the film is in HD format then it could be over 5 gig in size.
    You can copy iTunes downloads over to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the iPad and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option - so if you currently have films and/or TV programmes on your iPad then you could copy them over to your computer and then delete them from your iPad to make room for the new film

  • Do I still pay for the movie if not enough storage?

    if not enough storage to download a movie on my iphone, do I still have to pay for the movie? It downloaded halfway before I got the "not enough storage" message.

    This is why I hesitated before posting something in a discussion format. IPadgirl, thank you for your help with my question. I don't see it on my ITunes bill do I'm guessing it didn't charge me.
    Diesel, you have clearly misunderstood my question. I'm new to the IPhone and it wouldn't occur to me to check how much storage I had before trying to download a movie, especially since I don't have many apps on my phone. I didnt see the purchase in iTunes which is why I was unsure about being charged in the first place. Also, I back up everything on my phone every day to my computer. I have done that with any phone I have so that is not an issue. Clearly you are a major fan of Apple if you would defend its honor so passionately in response to my question. There is no reason to be a jerk about it, though. Your rude manner was not necessary and quite uncalled for.

    My iPad air is missing some apps from my phone. It keeps saying, " there is not enough storage available to download...." I purchased additional storage twice, my device now shows 18GB free of a total 25GB, and still I cannot download apps I've had for yrs

    iCloud space is for backup only.
    You need more local storage; free up space on iPad:
    Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed to free up space on iPad.

  • Downloading via XHR and writing large files using WinJS fails with message "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation"

    Hello,
    I have an issue that some user are experiencing but I can't reproduce it myself on my laptop. What I am trying to do it grab a file (zip file) via XHR. The file can be quite big, like 500Mb. Then, I want to write it on the user's storage.
    Here is the code I use:
    DownloadOperation.prototype.onXHRResult = function (file, result) {
    var status = result.srcElement.status;
    if (status == 200) {
    var bytes = null;
    try{
    bytes = new Uint8Array(result.srcElement.response, 0, result.srcElement.response.byteLength);
    } catch (e) {
    try {
    Utils.logError(e);
    var message = "Error while extracting the file " + this.fileName + ". Try emptying your windows bin.";
    if (e && e.message){
    message += " Error message: " + e.message;
    var popup = new Windows.UI.Popups.MessageDialog(message);
    popup.showAsync();
    } catch (e) { }
    this.onWriteFileError(e);
    return;
    Windows.Storage.FileIO.writeBytesAsync(file, bytes).then(
    this.onWriteFileComplete.bind(this, file),
    this.onWriteFileError.bind(this)
    } else if (status > 400) {
    this.error(null);
    The error happens at this line:
    bytes = new Uint8Array(result.srcElement.response, 0, result.srcElement.response.byteLength);
    With description "Not enough storage is available to complete this operation". The user has only a C drive with plenty of space available, so I believe the error message given by IE might be a little wrong. Maybe in some situations, Uint8Array
    can't handle such large file? The program fails on a "ASUSTek T100TA" but not on my laptop (standard one)
    Can somebody help me with that? Is there a better way to write a downloaded binary file to the disk not passing via a Uint8Array?
    Thanks a lot,
    Fabien

    Hi Fabien,
    If Uint8Array works fine on the other computer, it should not be the problem of the API, but instead it could be the setting or configuration for IE.
    Actually using XHR for 500MB zip file is not suggested, base on the documentation:
    How to download a file, XHR wraps an
    XMLHttpRequest call in a promise, which is not a good approach for big item download, please use
    Background Transfer instead, which is designed to receive big items.
    Simply search on the Internet, and looks like the not enough storage error is a potential issue while using XMLHttpRequest:
    http://forums.asp.net/p/1985921/5692494.aspx?PRB+XMLHttpRequest+returns+error+Not+enough+storage+is+available+to+complete+this+operation, however I'm not familiar with how to solve the XMLHttpRequest issues.

  • ITunes tells me I can't download movie. Not enough storage and u have enough

    iTunes tells me I can't download movie. Not enough storage I have the space I think. It keeps sending me to settings help!

    The GB size of the download file is the compressed size (like .zip or .dmg). When the file is installed/uncompressed it can be 2-3 times larger.
    How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.
    How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
    With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
     Cheers, Tom

  • HT4623 I couldn't download the new software to my ipad or iphone because not enough storage so I paid the $20 for additional storage.  The purchase went thru and both phone and ipad are showing 15 GB of storage but I am still getting the message

    I couldn't download the new software onto my iPad or iphone because I didn't have enough storage.  I paid the $20 for additional storage.  Both devices are showing 15 GB of storage but both are still saying that I don't have enough storage available for the new download (3.3 GB req'd)  What else can I do?

    Delete some apps or stuff off your devices. The 'not enough storage' doesn't refer to iCloud space but space on your device.
    If you have a bunch of downloaded music from iTunes, delete it to make room, you can always redownload it after the update. If you have movies, I'd go for them first since video takes up tons more room than audio (delete less movies is the same space as lots of music)
    If you have apps you don't use, you can delete those, as long as you don't mind losing any data associated with them.

  • IPhone 4 not enough storage/deleted apps

    My daughter has an iPhone 4. It's not allowing her to download any applications now because it's telling her that there is not enough storage. When that's not true. She only has very few apps on the phone. She also woke up this morning to find that a few of the apps that she does have, have been deleted. I'm not sure what's going on. Any ideas?

    Hi MAIAHSDAD,
    If your daughter's iPhone 4 appears to be too full to download anything new, I would see if the steps in this article help resolve that:
