App purchases stuck on installing

This has been puzzling me for a few days now. Every time i download something from the App Store whether update or new app it's stuck on installing. I keep killing the storeagent process clearning the caches and the updates folder. Sometimes that works ok but most of the times i have to hard reset the computer as i can't even shut it down. Whenever i try and shut down i get a message that the shutdown was cancelled as an app is installing.... I keep waiting and nothing.
This happened with the iLife apps and XCode. It's very recent, about 2-3 weeks now that i am trying to update and i keep force quiting everything.
OH, and when that does happen the fans start going crazy and in the Activity Monitor i see my zsh prcess going to 100% cpu util.
Anyone know why this may be happenning? Or a possible solution for this? I don't want to re-install everything..
Thanks!

Hey. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a go if it carries on happening.
For now I managed to solve the problem late last night, by removing and re-installing XCode.
At least it seems to be working fine now.
Before re-installing i deleted the directories com.apple.appstore and com.apple.storeagent in $TMPDIR../C and $TMPDIR../T
Then i also emptied the following directories:
rm -rf /private/var/folders/dw/w3mz6fc50z2r4qf72g79j9h0x00gn/C/com.apple.appstore
rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
After that i re-installed XCode and it finished fine.
Either way it does seem to be ZSH that's causing the problem. That's sad cause it just started happening. Not to mention i like ZSH and don't want to switch back to Bash.
Did you try the default ZSH?

Does tapping on it remove it from waiting?
If you sync with iTunes on your computer, you can also connect it and sync it to push it to go through. If that fails, you might be able to try and delete the app stuck in waiting, and re download it and sign in again.

  • App Store app Purchases not showing INSTALLED apps

    Hi all,
just updated to iTunes 10.5 and noticed that the App Store app on my devices has stopped showing apps that are INSTALLED when looking at the Purchases section, only apps that are not installed appear in the list with the Cloud icon next to them.
Below is a link to another thread that I have posted on that has a little more info:

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yep. I have the same issue on both my iPhone 4 and iPod 4g. It occurred about a month ago (before ios5 or iTunes 10.5).

  • Mac App Store purchase stuck on 'Installing'

So I bought Napoleon: Total War earlier this evening. After a surprisingly long download time, the game began installing. The progress bar told me this would take 27 minutes. More than 2 hours later and it's still stuck on this 'installing in 27 minutes' business. I have googled the issue and found similar posts to mine, however most of them have been resolved by emptying the Mac App Store Cache or deleting the HDD/Library/Update files, or simply rebooting the Mac. However, none of these have worked and time is still ticking on. If anyone can give me a hand as to how I can resolve this then it will be hugely appreciated. Ideally, I'd love my £21 back however I know how extremely unlikely that is.

    Hi TomCorbishley
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you want to want to get a refund for a purchase. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

  • App got stuck while installing help

I was trying to download an app and it got stuck while loading. I can't delete it. I have turned off and on my phone to no avail. I tried plugging in the phone to itunes. Help please

This happened to me when I got my iPhone. Simply all I did was turn off the Wi-Fi and it should stop saying "Loading"
What you can do is download the same app and see If it will move. Or just use iTunes to install the app.

  • Latest Apple store app update stuck on installing.

iPhone 4 3 G. I have tried reset, turning off phone.. pausing, nothing works This has said "installing" for days now, maybe a week.  I can still search and download other apps, but the apple store app itself is stuck. Any help for me? I have searched the for answers, but all are out of date, and similar but not quite the same. ( by reset, I do not mean factory reset, I mean using both buttons to shut down and letting it restart) Thanks

  • I've installed the 10gb in app purchase twice now.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm supposed to be getting a bunch of new stuff, but nothing changes after the install? On top of everything else I'm supposed to get 40 lessons, and while I don't plan on using any of them, the fact that they aren't there proves to me that nothing was installed. Is anyone else having this problem? If so how can I fix it?

On top of everything else I'm supposed to get 40 lessons, and while I don't plan on using any of them, the fact that they aren't there proves to me that nothing was installed.
How did you check, if something has been installed?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6031
To check, if the in-app purchase is available, create a new project and add a drum track.
You should be seeing more than one drummer, not only Socal, if the in-app purchase has been installed - it installs 15 drummers.
Also, check the loops - you now should have 2000 loops. To see the number of loops, make sure, that no filters are set on the Loop Browser:
The drop-down menu in the Loop Browser should be showing "Loops" and the scale "Any".
Disable the preference "Loops > Keyword Browsing". Then look at the bottom right corner of the Browser for the total number, it should be at least 2000.
and while I don't plan on using any of them, the fact that they aren't there proves to me that nothing was installed.
The lessons are the one item that will not be installed by the in-app purchase - at least, I had to download them individually. It will give you the ability to download the lessons from the Lessons store, see:
and 40 guitar and piano Basic Lessons. You will also gain the ability to purchase additional Artist Lessons.
Try "File > New" and select the Lesson Store. Then you should be able to download additional basic lessons.
    All lessons are showing "Download".

  • App will not download to iPad when purchased from App Store - stuck with Cloud icon

Device : iPad Air 32gb wi-fi model (not cellular data)
OS version : 7.1.1 (up to date)
    Location : UK
Problem : App will not download to iPad when purchased from App Store - stuck with Cloud icon
Last night I tried to download an app over wi-fi onto my iPad Air, but the app did not install.
I have plenty of space (the app is 24.1mb, I have 3.4gb free space) and there are no restrictions whatsoever on my iPad - no blocks on App store purchases, no age-related restrictions, no country restrictions etc.
Normally from the App Store page you would tap the price (in this case the app was free), enter your iTunes password, and the app would download.
Also a new icon appears on the home screen and a circle shows the progress of the download.
    However this did not happen.
Instead I have the Cloud icon (the one that shows when you have bought an app but it is not currently installed on your device) and a message that says "You've already purchased this, so it will be downloaded now at no additional cost".
If I press OK I am then prompted to enter my iTunes password, the Cloud symbol briefly changes to a circle (and I mean for a split-second, like the blink of an eye) and then the Cloud symbol appears again.
The app does not download - in fact it does not even *attempt* to download.
I have tried this >20 times now and it always occurs excatly like this.
After Googling this problem (which seems common) and reading over a dozen threads on this forum plus Apple's own official support pages, this is what I've tried:
I can re-download other apps that I have previously purchased on this iPad, with no problems.
I purchased another app on my iPhone 5 and was then able to download onto my iPad with no problems.
I have reset my iPad >5 times - both by pressing/holding the home/power buttons, and also a full switch off and restart.
I have logged out of my iTunes account on the iPad, and logged back in.
The wi-fi is Virgin Media fibre optic broadband with a verified speed of 20 meg (confirmed by Speedtest) plus an 802.11-n Belkin router and my iPad will happily load web pages, stream videos on YouTube, download other apps etc.
I have reset/rebooted my internet connection
In an attempt to eliminate by broadband connection from the possible causes, I have switched off my router, linked my iPad to the hotspot feature on my iPhone and tried to download the app over cellular data, but still cannot download the app.
I have tried on 2 other wi-fi networks but still cannot download this one app.
My iTunes account has a cerdit balance from an iTunes card, but the app was free anyway
Nothing I try will download the app in question.
The app is iPad only, so I cannot install on my iPhone to try and kick-start the process.
I guess I could install the app on my computer and then sync the iPad, but that's *working around* the problem - it's not *fixing* the problem.
(Since getting the iPad I use almost never use my computer. And anyway what if I did not have a computer? Didn't iOS go "PC-free" with version 5?)
I would like to call Apple but my 90-day telephone support has expired (the iPad is around 6 months old) and I don't want to buy Apple Care for this one problem.
I can't make it to an Apple Store to speak to a Genius.
Bearing in mind the list of things I've already tried, what do I do next?
Thanks in advance for any support.

    Hi there.
Thank you very much for your quick reply, it's really appreciated.
No need to apologize, I actually found the phrase "If your iPad ever craps the bed" amusing under the circumstances
I checked the list of installed apps like you suggested (Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Show all apps) but this problem app is not in the list. I have also swiped down on the home screen to search for it, but again it does not show.
While it has not let me download the app (and I just tried it again) it has helped me to eliminate a few things from the list of what to try, and I can definitely conclude that it has not downloaded.
I guess I need to fire up my PC and download it / sync my iPad.
    Thanks again for your help

  • IPad apps stay stuck on "loading" upon installing

When ever I purchase a new app from the apple store it won't install but says it's downloaded the icon is usually blackened and says loading under icon or nothing at all.
         - I have tried restore from back up
         - I have tried resetting the device
         - I have the latest iOS Installed
         - I've tried setting up as new iPad and tried loading apps .
All with no success.  Apps still stuck in loading and/or blackened. Please advise if this could bee a hardware issue? Everything. Apps tend to crash on my device including all apps, some don't start at all.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • Is there any way I could use my own apple ID to buy in-app purchases even if I used my aun'ts apple ID to install the app?

I have an Apple Account registered in the U.S & no credit card linked (since im under 18). I always use my Aunt's account because I buy in-app purchases and other stuffs in the app store, I also used her account to download the app I play but she changed her password and gifted me a gift card to redeem in my own apple ID...
But whenever I wanted to buy something from the game it asks for her password and not mine, I changed the logged in apple account in the iTunes & Apple Store hoping not to re-install the app because I achieved so much in the game..
Is there any way I could use my own apple ID to buy in-app purchases even if I used my aun'ts apple ID to install the app?

No, all apps are tied to the account that downloaded them, so only that account will be able to make in-app purchases within them - you would need to delete the game (which would also delete your progress/settings in it) and buy/download it with your account to be able to make in-app purchases with your own account.
